Ah, I kept thinking about this prompt and couldn't help myself! Please accept this little scene between the two bestest friends in all of DC.
------
Bruce was sitting in his office, staring at his wall with unseeing eyes. His phone ringing is what finally snaps him out of it, the ringtone a familiar one. He pulls his personal cell and answers it tiredly, "Hello Clark."
"Bruce," Clark's strained voice rushes out, "I need to speak with you, are you free right now?"
Bruce had sat up straight the moment he heard Clark's voice, whatever was going on was very serious and needed Bruce's full attention. "Just a moment," he quickly switched over to his contacts and shot a short text to his secretary. "There, all freed up for the next hour."
"I'll be right over." Clark hung up before Bruce could respond, but it didn't matter. Bruce had just finished pouring a pair of tumblers full of sparkling water when Clark came in through his office window. And it was Clark, not Superman. Bruce couldn't help the anxiety rising in his chest, but he swallowed it down as Clark sat heavily in the seat across the desk. "What happened?"
"Surprise teenager on our doorstep last night."
"Another clone?"
Clark shook his head, "Lois had a kid she gave up for adoption, a little girl she couldn't take care of on her own back then. Fifteen years later…"
Bruce couldn't help his flinch, the same age Jason had been.
"… he shows up on our doorstep scared and looking like death warmed over. It seems there was some sort of attack in his hometown? Amity Park."
Bruce nodded, "The reconstruction is going well, though there was an unexplained explosion to a lab? Or a residence? Strange that it happened well after the attack was over." And that it was unclear what the building was, but Bruce had more important things to worry about.
"We thought he came looking for Lois because he had no where else to go and was afraid to go into the system, and of course we weren't going to turn him away. But the problem," Clark finally sat up, leaning forward to rest his elbows on the desk in a mirror to Bruce's tense posture, "is that when we looked into gaining his guardianship legally we ran into a problem. The boy, that is, Danny has a godfather. His parents left a will naming the man as their children's legal guadian if anything ever happened to them."
Bruce perked up, but Clark shook his head. Bruce closed his eyes in pain, how many more children?
"The thing is, when we asked Danny about his godfather his heart stopped."
Bruce's eyes flew open at that.
"It started again, thank heavens, but Bruce. He was so scared his heart stopped. I mean, his heart is weak, we desperately want to take him to a doctor but he's almost as terrified of going to a doctor as he is of this so called godfather, he's so scared and hurt and we don't want to break what little trust we have. But I think… it's just… so you know how I said he used to be she?"
Bruce nodded.
"He keeps touching his belly, especially when he's scared. And he's always scared."
Bruce's face lost all color, "Is he…?"
Clark shook his head, "I can't hear another heatbeat, either it's too early or it's… it's too late." They both sat in silence for a moment to let that little tidbit sink in. "It's possible he has a boyfriend back in Amity Park, teenagers aren't known for being especially careful about that sort of thing. But with how scared he is…"
"It's not a pretty picture," Bruce agreed. "Give me all the information you can," he said while digging out a pad of paper and pen from one of his desk drawers, "I'll send Reggie over to your place first thing in the morning."
Reggie Brown was the family law attorney Bruce kept on retainer just to handle his adoption addiction. Clark smiled in relief, "Thanks, Bruce."
Okay, we've seen Danny as SuperMans kid and Batmans.
What about Lois Lane?
Maybe Lois had Danny when she was too young to want to be a mom. So she puts him up for adoption.
She didn't expect to be called years later about the child she had to give up.
The baby girl she only seen once is now a traumatized teenage boy whose adoptive family and friends were all killed.
And that werid Old billionaire seems to snooping around her boy for some reason.
