Saw the word “nightshade” somewhere and was hit with the memory of a ghost book I read as a kid so hard I took psychic damage
#personal#it was a book about a family purchasing a haunted house (shocker)#but it always stuck with me#the house was haunted by 2 ghosts#one was a woman and the other was a 13/14-ish year old girl (iirc)#and the younger ghost was named something like Cassie and was the same age as the daughter of the family who moved in#and she met Cassie in the woods behind the house and thought she just lived in the neighborhood#and then Cassie got obsessed with the main girl. like really obsessed#like ‘sabotage her friendships and familial relationships so I’m the only one who can be with her’ obsessed#and at the end of the book Cassie tried drowning the main girl so she’d never leave her#anyways I was 9/10 when I read it and I still didn’t rly get that being gay was actually allowed but I was so interested in their dynamic#which was like. really queer looking back#I wish I remembered the name of it#I think it might’ve been called nightshade or smth#cuz I remember it talked a lot about belladonna poison#anyway yea I don’t even remember if it was even a good book but the concept was fun to m#me*
