I love how much more complexity is added to the way Chilchuck acts when you realize he's a dad.
For example, his fear around being caught up with black magic. He's definitely the most worried out of everyone and it makes sense. Not only is he the most grounded in terms of thinkinh about the consequences of things, but he has the most at risk if they get arrested by elves. They explain that elves can take decades just to interrogate their prisoners. Dude's middle-aged and from the shortest lived race, he doesn't have decades.
But add on the fact that he's a dad. Of course he's the most worried! Not only will his arrest be bad for him, it would be bad for his kids! They'd probably never know what happened to him and would lose a parent at a young age (they're adults, but they're young adults. If Chil is 29, then Patti's only 14).

I love it when people go hard on the Middle-Aged Divorced Dad of Three-ishness of Chilchuck. There's something so hilarious about little him sitting on a porch chair and smoking, watching a whole TV episode standing up with his hands behind his back, or at a grill wearing those black cage sandals with a malort in his other hand.

So as an anime watcher of Dungeon Meshi my first impression of Laios was "wow, the fandom made me think this guy was kinda weird and dumb" and tbh thats totally on me.
Because Laios is actually fucking awesome?? First of all, hes unintentionally hilarious. Like this mf scared away sirens with the power of his awful ass singing and im supposed to NOT laugh? Impossible. Also him just always asking if he could theoretically eat something inedible is funny af too.
Second of all, he can be a great leader. Unironically if this guy had an ounce of understanding of social queues he'd be unstoppable (honestly same dude) but even then his personality makes him easy to like. His vibes in general, although a lil weird, do help him be a great leader for his friends.
Lastly is that hes really smart. Like, impressively smart. Its literally canon that his infodumping has helped his party members and i love that so much. This guy be saving the day with the power of autism fr and as an autistic person i absolutely love it. Even that aside, he is very smart in his own way and that sets him apart from other characters without really making it feel like hes supposed to be written as a dumb character, if that makes sense.

the thing about chilshi is that i see it as super one-sided on chilchuck's part and that's some shit he's bringing to the grave with him
