Honestly, you are so right about the state of lucemond-jacemond fic affairs rn, like in terms of what readers are looking for with longer/completed fics and all the rest etc. fandom truly is an academic field of study…

I love analyzing fandom ! Lichrally my favorite activity bc I'm like why do you like what u like and how is that different from what I like? What is the common denominator? Why are some fandoms serial one shot posters while others are home to dozens of completed 50k works?

The feature on ao3 to filter for Only wips seemed absolutely ridiculous to me as someone who only really searches for complete works but yo some people love the waiting game for updates!

I prefer aus and some people straight up don't read them! Like... we are all so different I love fandom and how two ships around the same show and one of the same characters can produce vastly different art and archetypes

FIRST OF ALL my favorite thing about all the bitter fans who hate how popular the crows are is that they’ll say “focus more on the REAL main characters” and then name every single s&b character BUT mal, and then are all in leigh bardugo & the writers & actors mentions and comments saying “shame on you for ignoring your asian lead” re: jessie, but then they themselves completely ignore archie in favor of ben…and also amita is literally also asian and she’s heavy in all the crows promo!!!!! it’s such a dumb and inappropriate point to try to make literally in the mentions of the writers, leigh bardugo, and even sometimes the actors replies, like!!

second of all…the first book is LICHRALLY the crows going on a heist to human traffic/murder what they think is a middle aged man and turns out to be a teenage boy, they were ALREADY 🗣️HUMAN 🗣️TRAFFICKERS 🗣️ that’s Their Thing, they are unrepentant, ruthlessly competent criminals who are completely devoted to each other and no one else

-> again, my all time favorite part of finishing every fic!! there wasn't a lot of lost stuff in this one because it's a short and sweet series with little leeway for change but the few that i did def made a ton of difference.

the title was supposed to be "transfixed" but LG anon helped me think of a better one! hence the birth of "welcome, something different"

with that title (transfixed) the story was supposed to be more on the "obsessive" side, where han jisung becomes unhealthily attached to y/n (almost the same way that jeongin was in the OG fic) but i scrapped that because that's gonna be a bit too unjustifiable romantically if they end up together. plus jisung doesn't have enough of a "reason" to be dependent on y/n as jeongin did. so, i gave the semi-possesive nature to jeongin instead

there wasn't supposed to be a jeongin ending (obvi lol) but reading LG anon's thoughts on him made me realize how much i liked his character and decided to give him a happy ending

the "han jisung as a rich heir boy" plotline is lichrally quite stupid and outlandish and i really had no reason to put it in. it was just something that i squeezed in randomly and i wasn't supposed to make anything out of it (and almost removed it) but then i thought to commit to the idea, kinda

It lichrally kills me that Sam and Dean has EQUAL roles in breaking seals and Sam is blamed for all of it??? Why??? Also him using his powers was shown as SO EVIL but like. There was literally nothing bad about it? Like the worst thing that happened was him accidentally killing demon vessels which they ended up doing on purpose for the next like ten years so what did he do wrong????

There is literally one single scene in the whole show, where Dean acknowledges that both he and Sam played a part in breaking the seals and that’s in 5x05 “Fallen Idols” (”DEAN: I mean, look, I'm not exactly Mister Innocent in this whole mess either, you know. I did break the first seal. SAM: You didn't know. DEAN: Yeah, well, neither did you.”) and for that alone, it’s one of my favorite episodes /forever/ even though the motw is kinda cringe ❤️. But after that he literally lays “starting the apocalypse” squarely on Sam’s shoulders multiple times (particularly in 8x23, but there are other times as well), it doesn’t get better that other characters also only blame Sam for that from that point onward (particularly Tracy in 9x02, which is made especially bad, because Dean doesn’t even try to defend his brother there lmao, he literally tells Tracy “Look, you wanna be pissed off at Sam, that's fine, I get it. But if you wanna go after somebody, you make sure that they got black eyes.”, implying that Sam did start the apocalypse, even if he didn’t directly kill her parents. It’s so messed up). 

Also yup, Sam’s powers aren’t inherently evil and we are literally told that his powers aren’t even directly caused by the demon blood (the demon blood just makes it stronger) and since we know of characters with psychic powers (like Ava), who can control /demons/ with only a little bit of training... like.... it’s so underused. They could have done so much more with Sam’s powers, but they are cowards ❤️ And they also refuse to acknowledge the positive things Sam has done with his powers, in order to completely demonize them, but ups if a demon kill means you have to murder the person they are possessing, Whomst Cares? Like i also hate that they stopped using exorcisms, they literally no longer care for the “saving people” part as long as it means “hunting things” and it just destroys the story so much... Ugh, this show is just so badly written, imagine if it was good instead ❤️

shockingly , the finale !!! despite the fact that i fucking hate cliffhangers , overall i found it to be a really good episode . we got the first actually good moments with bohnduen in episodes , and finally finished off their drama . mekboss settled everything , and became the old married couple that they were destined to be . ramking had one of the best kisses in history of bls , and generally set up a very interesting storyline for season two ( even though , ughhhh cliffhanger ) . the only thing i really didn't like was tharafrong's no homo moment . i was kinda hoping they would take a very different approach with them ( because this trope is not only overused in general , but we have also already had TWICE in THIS SAME SHOW ) , but oh well :(

I’m gonna attempt to watch through all of Buffy bc tbh I don’t…remember a lot of it. So much of it is also filtered through my 12 year old mind and that was just a mess of hormones and repressed sexuality so it’s not reliable at ALL (I mean who knows I might give up at one point like I did with Glee lol).

Anyway Im halfway through s2 and my opinions are

Sarah Michelle Gellar really holds the script all together ya kno. She’s just absolutely pitch perfect right off the bat

Especially obvious bc I forgot how bad the acting is in the first two seasons, it’s just SMG and Anthony Stewart Head giving the performances of their lives and everyone else is giving their best High Schooler Attempting And Failing To Deliver A Hamlet Soliloquy

I think it’s funny that Willow almost right away seems to see morality as much greyer than any of the Scooby Gang. She tends to see the good in bad people because she wants to believe in the power of redemption. It’s interesting when you think about it in terms of her story as the series goes on.

Why does the show try to convince us that Willow and Xander have chemistry. There is Nothing there

I adore Joyce. I can already tell the reason her death made me hysterical as a tween is because she’s not just a compelling character (and not to ever give That Bitch any props, but a mom being ALIVE can be so hard to come by in SFF and I’ve complained about it before), but sometimes she reminds me of the women in my family, and U Kno I Love Projecting

That theme really does go so hard tho

Giles puts up a good fight but like 3 episodes in he is so EAGER and READY to play the father to Buffy, Xander, and Willow and loudly complain about how they don’t treat their father with respect lol

Dru/Spike is just as appealing to me now as it was to me as a tween, I just love Villain Who Is Devoted To His Wife dynamics, and Dru is so weird and SO FUN

The kid who plays the Anointed One is so boring, I’m sorry little kid but show an emotion bro

Honestly, while I think s1 is a bit uneven, the show picks up Immediately when Spike and Dru show up. They bring such a fun, uniquely stylized villainy to the show, and I think that’s when it really starts to cement its own flair of urban fantasy, and even tho I want to fight Joss Whedon with my bare hands, I GET why this flavor of urban fantasy completely took over the genre

I love the way Xander dresses because I dressed exactly like that in middle school and I’m very embarrassed to realize that my friends were right I was SUCH a frumpy dresser

I loved Bangel as a kid but I also LOVED Cordelia/Angel (like I was DEVASTATED when she died I loved her so much) and seeing Cordelia and Angel hit it off IMMEDIATELY even when he’s dating Buffy made me giggle lol Angel really does find her very charming

Okay but imagine you are Giles and you finally have your life on track as a Watcher and you’ve gotten used to suddenly being a dad to 4 children and a vampire, and you don’t even LIKE half your new children but it’s fine, you’ve got it under control, the principal likes you, you’re making friends, and then your evil ex boyfriend shows up Lichrally just so he can get off on you beating the shit out of him like how angry would you be??! The life of a DILF is so hard

I am just now realizing I had a huge crush on Drusilla when I was a kid and it’s in character bc Zhaan in Farscape was my bi awakening but why did I have such weird taste in women as a teenager bro

Feels like the show is hell bent on making Buffy pay and make amends for not having a crush on Xander and it is so annoying. Like every time she shows An Interest in Angel or another guy, Xander gets to be there Suffering Loudly, and Buffy once again has to make space for his continued forcing of the responsibility of his feelings onto her. Why is this her problem?

So I know we canceled Angel in the first few seasons for dating a high schooler when hes 300 or whatever, but Angel is just SO emotionally repressed post-getting-his-soul-and-breaking-up-with-Darla that I don’t think he’s mature enough for older friends, he’s just so whiny in a specifically teenagery way

But also doesn’t he ever get tired of a bunch of high schoolers constantly trying to be his best friend after awhile??

This is not me saying I hate Angel, I love that emotionally repressed, painfully awkward broody bitch he’s my man in all his awkwardly Byronic glory

the big ones r ve schwab and leigh bardugo bc schwab is lichrally my favorite author and like, a lot of writing goals for me and then leigh bardugo was the first book event i went to and she and i had a very brief but very meaningful to me convo at the signing table that warms my heart still lmao

both but brunch as an activity with the people i really like and midnight snacks as ‘oh shit i didn’t eat enough earlier in the day and now im starving’ but also precorona times i DID enjoy going out for late night fast food with my siblings

honestly? im not big on museums just because im impatient and breeze through them fairly quickly but you can catch my eye with a medieval weapons unit (thank u irish national archeology museum, but also dublin recommendations: go to the dead zoo) so either in some niche section i’m interested in, whizzing through exibits, or in the cafe
