hey I'm too shy to ask off anon but do you have tips on finding illustrator work in finland. I have zero marketable skills besides drawing but I have NO idea how to find people who want to hire me

OK SO IM SUPER W U im like ass at anything that isnt art, like, i tried a lot of other stuff before i succumbed to doing graphic design/art as a job bc i just did so bad at everything. Which, im sure ill be doing a bunch of other stuff on the side throughout my life because IT. IS NOT EASY!!! ITS A SUPER HARD JOB TO GET WORK IN!!! I mean im on the medicore side as an artist so it might just be me but LMFAO. I dont wanna scare you off but it is tough HOWEVER. yes there are things you can do ill readmore this tho

I think the easiest to get into IS like. private commission work. The usual "drawing ocs or fandom stuff" for people. It requires a lot of self marketing- building a platform, making your art a desirable object. Im planning personally 2 open comms again after my current gig is done, and ive been hearing good stuff about the small business options osuuspankki offers- re: being able to do the billing via paypal &helping w the taxing which makes overseas work a LOT easier to figure out. I cant swear on them personally tho since i have not used their services before, but i can give more info in abt a month when Im planning on looking into them more! So. Online market yourself. (you can ask further on this but this post would be too long if i get into that, also im not like a master of this), commission work. PRICE YOUR STUFF RIGHT, Look into how long it takes you to make your pieces and create an approx. price based on your hours spent working. And then price higher.

As for a lot of the stuff i do&post about here. I personally DID start w education, which, i am incredibly lucky I could. I studied graphic design/illustration in Ikaalinen, its a really great school which i can recommend if that is an option for you. I could talk abt it more but I think the main things i got from that education was a) making connections b) learning how printing works which is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT. If you want to work in book illustrations which i have done, I recommend looking into the technical aspects of printing on your own. You can learn it online definetly. As for connections, thats a little tougher, but really anything beyond for me has been. Just making a portfolio & CV and emailing and asking for work. Its tedious and annoying but yeah.. Other options im aware of for illustration work is like. in advertizing (though its kinda rare to do ILLUSTRATION), game companies (theres a lot of other stuff you need 2 learn there tho)... Ik some ppl sell their illustrated products eg. stickers, prints etc, but idk anything abt that section. In finland its rly tough bc you rly dont. I like got curious and just googled "kuvitus töitä" and yeah theres just Nothing. It is abt looking for where illustrations could be (looking for small book publishers, looking for childrens books writers specifically and reaching out to them, etc etc) and reaching out and being a pushy bitch its AWFUL its my least favourite part of this job but it is. Yeah..

and MANNNN I'm so so glad that rewind is back. I don't always love when characters don't stay dead but I'm completely happy w/it here for multiple reasons, like the fact that I really like rewind and chromedome’s story after this arc - like, I LOVE that they addressed the fact that rewind 2 is different from OG rewind, despite being fundamentally the same person, so he and cd cant just immediately get back together and pretend everything's fine, but also there's really only an 18 month (?i think) disparity between the 2 rewinds which is nothing compared to literal millions of years, soooo

ALSO I literally never considered this until this reread but it would've been kind of an L for rewind to die and stay dead considering that rewind and cd were The First transformers gay couple, and that's a really big deal! and I don't really consider it bury your gays bc like, rewind doesn't stay dead that long and also there are soooo many other gays, but STILL 

plus rewind and cd ended up having a lot of story left to get thru, which is awesome

also I just love rewind so I'm glad he’s back :)

I fucking love this scene bc this is basically the culmination of brainstorm being Completely Ominous for the entire story thus far, like, it really hit me this readthru that brainstorm was so totally sinister for like most of his screentime up until this arc...and this scene is the pinnacle, I love how everything brainstorm says is overlaid with so much tension for the reader bc of what we know now about him

like brainstorm saying ‘yes - here’s to fixing things’ is so fucking sinister even though out of context that sentence is just normal

and when atomizer basically voices what the entire audience is thinking as brainstorm opens the briefcase - ‘brainstorm, you can’t do that.’ bc yeah, what the hell, he’s opening THE briefcase, Oh Shit

AND THEN THE FINAL SHOT....brainstorm front and center looking SCARY AS HELL.... ‘I can do whatever the hell I like.’....everyone suddenly collapsed around him...the fantastic shadowy lighting...the ominously open briefcase...the clear segue Directly into the next high-concept arc....[chefs kiss] ART

seriously I love this issue so much. SO many good things. such good character stuff, really great interactions, some fantastic plot development, super creative sci-fi fun times...all around just an extremely solid and enjoyable issue, 10 outta 10

and MAN OH MAN I cannot wait to get into the elegant chaos arc, it fucking SLAPS, that arc and remain in light have always been my favs, I'm so excited to revisit it

trevor was born in boston.   he stuck around because he likes it well enough.   he likes being close to his family and friends,   he likes living in a city big enough that he can still get lost sometimes,   even though its the only home he’s ever known.   he likes the nightlife.   he likes seeing frequent newcomers,   a new cast of faces every now and again.

02. who are your character’s friends and family? who do they surround themselves with? who are the people your character is closest to?

trevor’s family is his parents and his half-brother.   they all get along pretty well.  his mom is a free-spirit,   it’s hard to not get along with her.   his step-dad is one of his best friends,   he just feels like they Get each other and they share similar interests so they’ve always kind of palled around.   his brother is in middle school and going through a bit of a douche phase,   but they’re all pretty sure they can pull him through it.   he’s good friends with sylvia and riley,   in their own ways.   he knows they have a history  ( granted he probably doesn’t fully understand it ),   but,   ultimately,   isn’t the kind of person to let their beef get in the way of his being friends with both of them.

03. what is your character’s biggest fear? who have they told this to? who would they never tell this to? why?

trevor’s biggest fear is never finding stability.   he knows he’s too young to have everything on Lock,   but he hates change,  and always has.   he wants something steady,   a real job,   friends who’re sticking around,   a partner he can trust,   just some semblance of the easy domestic life he’s always been so into.   he doesn’t bring it up much because i don’t think even he realizes just how scared he is of feeling like he does now,  kind of in between and looking forever.

04. has your character ever been in love? had a broken heart?

trevor was in love with one of his best friends in high school.   they dated on and off for three years,   but,   in the end,   it was decided they were just better off as friends.   they still hang out,   whenever she’s in town,   and it’s not especially weird or awkward.   he had a boyfriend at the end of high school and his first year out that he’d say he was in love with.   they’ve got a little more bad blood.   for someone that dates as much as he does,   you think there’d be more than that,  but he doesn’t make it to In Love with most the people he sees now.   his heart is broken almost always though.   of course his exes were worse,   but like when that thottie unmatches him after a lively conversation about grill food?   yeah it hurted.

05. your character is doing intense spring cleaning. what is easy for them to throw out? what is difficult for them to part with? why?

making moves.    he’s likely working at the diner.   if not,   he’s probably loitering around the radio station.   he loves playing music,   but,   ultimately,   doesn’t want to pursue performance as a career.   he is interested in getting work at the station though,   and working with music more tangentially.

07. what is one strong memory that has stuck with your character since childhood?

oh buckle up.   trevor’s favorite song is the air that i breathe by the hollies which is.   a choice.   but its because when he was eight and he heard it at his parents wedding he was pretty sure it was the most Romantic song that had ever been written not that its a huge priority for an eight year old but consider.   he’s a freak.

09. what is something that upsets your character? where do they go when they’re upset?

trevor’s microchip will short circuit over like.   generally people being mean he just Cannot understand why you cant be fundamentally nice it costs zero dollars to not be an asshole.   he’s also particularly sensitive to people calling him dumb.   when he’s upset,   he likes to be working,   talking to customers and pretending everythign is Okay.

10. when your character thinks of their childhood kitchen, what smell do they associate with it? why?

his mom burned enough incense there weren’t a lot of Heavy Kitchen Smells but when she broke out the online recipes for at home vegan curry she found it was always a Fragrant night.

because the ones online were cliche and half assed

-mashu good. and imo overall shes not really as forced to be your “waifu” as characters in other games. 1. theres an explanation- the player saves her life and she saves their life several times, and 2. the player character actually has a face and personality, making it an easy fucking option if you dont relate to their role of “loves and cares for mashu” to just be like “yup, thats guda/ritsuka, not me”. other games (im looking at you f-h) do the government assigned waifu thing way worse with way less likeable and interesting characters, plus dont even have a face to assign to that role so it is obligatorily “you”.

-re: the main fate series, i just find no appeal in it. (zero, any of the 2004 era routes) the characters are kinda ok on their own and in other settings (like go for instance), and possibly in small doses (cf), but i think its a combination of the storyline and tone and ect. that just make anything following the narrative of zero/stay night absolutely unwatchable for me. ive seen the two hf movies with a friend, but with any of the other parts (the animes, including even the cooking one) i can barely handle getting through the parts i like. ive seen the cu episode twice and dont plan on seeing any more. its a shame really. it seems like something that would appeal to me but the constant mean spiritedness of the characters is really draining for me, i think because its supposed to be sympathetic.

-apoc is good. it does more for the characters than most fate things do, actually offering multi dimensional characters with a chance of redemption rather than just killing off everyone who isnt a main character. sieg’s story and motivations are interesting to see, and to see develop, and along with the original medea/medusa/heracles (not their iterations in later stuff) the greek heroes in apoc (atlanta and achilles and chiron) are actually well done. i kinda hate how later stuff/go has gone abt greek mythology, with the exception of circe. i also dont have a problem with some characters having smaller roles, its a big ass cast so thats bound to happen. but they have fleshed them out better in other works, the best example being avicebron in lb1. theyre supposed to be a parallel to saber and kiritsugu, but i liked the mordred and sisigou dynamic infinitely better.

-knk is very good, but i would not recommend it to those who would be uncomfortable with the gore and sensitive topics. its not really an essential thing, esp for go only, and just knowing the brief summary is probably fine. but i do find it one of the more.. enjoyable works in the franchise, if not a bit terrifying.

-eor in general i have no plans to play at all. it failed to engage me from start to finish. at best i just felt uninterested in it (agartha and shimousa for the most part) and at worst pissed off beyond compare (@ what they did to hessian and lobo, esp the insinuations that neither is strong and cant be servants, and just salem but especially how they treated sanson in it). i felt 2017 go as a whole was really uninteresting and not very investing, and very much overshined by 2018 go in a lot of ways (esp 2017′s reliance on “you must hate this character!!!!11!!”, which to be fair was carried over from the previous years. but they didnt do it in 2018 so. you can do this, you just choose not to)

-also re: part 1, the ending was very bad. reliant on cheap plot twists and character death for an emotional investment, and its painful in a cringe way to see it again now for na. babylonia was ok, but the rest of the later game story in 1 was kinda awful.

-part 2 (lostbelt) is actually not bad once you get past some of the bullshit thats a turn off. or at least lostbelt year 1 was not bad. i feel like the second camelot and whatever the hell wodmine is up to could be the disappointment that 2018 go was spared. but i can be grateful that lb1 finally got me to fall for musashi, because eor was a big turn off for me to her, which is a shame because she is really good.
