hello! may i ask about the dear bug corner. ive been thinking about getting a dangomushi plush but i'm sensitive to textures and worried that theyre scratchy or might feel like they draw the moisture from my hands (lol its hard 2 describe). how do you find they feel? i hope u have an excellent day.

Honestly super happy to receive an ask like this, it makes me unironically ecstatic to know that not only you remember my bug corner but also that you'd come to me for advice,,, I'll do my best to help with ur descision of whether to get one or not :]

So the dangomushi pillbug plushes can actually come in two textures, depending on which kind you get. Most are the soft, short-fur type you can expect from plushes, but there's also shiny variations that come in this smooth, stiffer fabric to give it that mettalic sheen. I've got examples of both in different sizes, here you go:

For the softer ones, I'd say the fur on the back is relativley soft and itch-free, and is pleasant to the touch. It resembles most other short-haired plushes, although there is the smallest resemblance to velvet I can detect, which might be a bit bothersome depending on how you feel about that (i personally hate the feel of velvet, like I can barely bring myself to touch it, so maybe my sensitivity to it makes me feel it in other fabrics more. Idk. Regardless, feel free to take this part of the review lightly).

As for how it interacts with moisture, that part is hard for me to say. I understand what you mean but find it difficult to judge myself, cuz I have trouble noticing the moisture levels on my own hands and also dont spend as much time handling these plushes as I could be (I mostly keep them on a shelf in the corner of my room, hence the name Bug Corner). I think you will have to make your own guesstimate based on how you feel about other toys, what their fabrics/furs do and whether that would probably be applied to this line of plushes. If you want to back-and-fourth details to me to try and help you figure it out, my dms are always open :]

As for the shiny pillbug plushes, these are completley furless (at least the back is) and smooth to the touch. The fabric is soft enough to cuddle but stiff enough to fold dramatically when pressed, so it's a fun sensory experience but that also heavily depends on preference. They can also get a little cold if left alone so there's that too.

Both types DO have the same short-furred stomachs, with the fur being even shorter than on the blue pillbugs. It's pretty soft (def not itchy), but also gives me hints of velvet so i kind of find it eh. Also, last note, both use the same felt cut-outs for the feet, so if you don't like the feel of felt then you should def keep this in mind when deciding.

Your relationship was hidden behind the shadows of the ever approaching war. But somewhere, built underneath all the pent up emotion, there was a blooming attachment to one another. A blissful day dream it was. Your relationship was never something you could pull off. Not with the all knowing Jedi council. The watchful eyes of Jedi Masters and Knights. Had you even considered that your Master, Kit Fisto, hadn’t returned your affections? 

Never mind that! Never mind the Jedi council! Your love for him was stronger! It knew no bounds! 

But how naive you were! Dreams! Dreams! Dreams! They haunt you in your sleep and lurk in the day. It keeps you up at night, tossing and turning in your bed. A dull ache in your stomach though your belly was full. 

Mercy above, you needed to breathe! Sitting up from the suffocating bed, you glide to the shared balcony. It only made sense that Master Kit’s room was right beside your own. Opening the door noiselessly, you let out a long exhale.

The welcoming air of Coruscant hit your face. Relieving your senses, you leaned over the railing. Looking out at the nightlife, you only thought of how lonely it must be for some. A city so big that it was easy to become overwhelmed and distance yourself from those who care. Far off sounds of chatter and speeders filled your ears. No matter how many times you observed the nightlife, you never got bored. There was always an attraction; drunkards yelling in the streets, a speeder zooming by, a couple in love. 

Distraction from your Jedi Master was temporary. Somehow your thoughts always led you back to him. Kit’s handsome face and well sculpted build. His praise that was rare, but permanent in your memory. A moment that still stuck out to you drifted back into your mind.

Kit’s body was close to yours. Too close. So much so that you could feel his breath against the nape of your neck. His hand was clenched over yours, which was holding your lightsaber. As he taught you a new strategy of holding the blade, you realized you were in way too deep. Yes, you are madly in love with him.

“Now, try it on your own.”

You couldn’t help but feel disappointed as he stepped away from you, letting go of your hand. Nevertheless, you repeated his same actions he showed you. A blush spread across your face as you awaited his feedback. 

“That’s it, bunny! Doing so good for me!”

Bunny was his beloved nickname for you. Sinful innuendos filled your head in a frenzy. You couldn’t bare to look at his face. Quickly, you turned away, muttering an embarrassed Thank you, Master.

You looked back at the doors leading to the balcony. No lights were on in Kit’s room. A good sign. There were no sounds of footsteps. Another good sign. Assuming he was still asleep, you resumed your scrutinty of Coruscant. 

A chill ran through your body. Curse the bloody sheer nightgown you wore! But then again...it looked rather divine on you. Complimenting your curves and leaving little to imagine for the eye. The silk was of a rich blue, spaghetti straps clinging onto your shoulders. Subconsciously, you wrapped your arms around yourself. Warmth returned to your numbed arms. Perhaps it was too crisp to be outside for much longer, considering that Coruscant was transitioning into the winter season. 

You glanced up at the night sky. Unfortunately, it was too polluted to see the night stars. But you still envisioned them. A canopy of bright lights that were assumed to be thousands upon thousands of planets. It was reassuring to know that at least the planets could coexist in the sky. 

Oh, to go stargazing with your Jedi Master. How magical would that be? Strong arms wrapped around your waist. Body pressed against Kit’s, head leaning into his chest. You could almost feel the ghost of his fingers. A fantasy, it all was. With a sigh, you turned away from the sky, only now heading for the comfort of your bedroom. Freezing half way through your steps, you saw your Jedi Master. 

“Master?” you asked softly

Kit’s arms were crossed over his bare chest. A pair of loose black pants hung from his lower torso. His eyes darted up and down your body, seizing you like pray. You were disgruntled, folding your arms protectively over your chest. His tongue graced his bottom lip, meeting your gaze. 

“Bunny, it’s far too cold to be outside.”

His deepened voice- somehow it was better than the one you were used to hearing before. 

“I-I just couldn’t sleep...” you said. “too many things happening in my brain.”

“Care to explain?”

Heat coursed through your body. “Oh, I don’t think that’s a swell idea...”

“You have always told me everything. What’s so different about this?”

You are in love with your Jedi Master! That’s what is different about this!! 

Kit was now in the way of your door. Attempting to brush him aside, along with his question as well, you gave him a light push. He didn’t move an inch. Instead, he towered over you, disappointment well written on his face. What was wrong with you? What weren’t you telling him?

“Did someone hurt you, bunny? I swear to Maker if they did-”

“No one hurt me.” your face fell. “It’s just that...if I tell you it could ruin everything.”

You flung your arms around him. He stumbled back slightly, but embraced you with his own hefty arms. Burying your head into his bare chest, you accepted your fate. This was probably about to go horribly wrong. Kit sensed your unease. Normally, he was a patient man. However...this was challenging him. There was nothing more he hated than seeing you unhappy. 

“What do you mean?” he asked gently

Oh Maker, you were prepared for the worst. Luck was not something bestowed upon you. You summoned up what little courage you had left. 

 “Kit, I’m burning for you. This might sound strange, but you are the very reason I cannot fall asleep at night. I-I need you more than you’ll ever know. Your voice, your wisdom, everything about you makes me in love.”

Kit was utterly shocked. “What?”

You wondered why whoever controlled the universe conspired for your doom. 

“Oh...” you felt ashamed. “I knew I shouldn’t have said anything.”

You got out of his grip only to be pulled back by the force. A gasp came from out of your mouth as your back hit the chilled wall. Hunger lurked in his eyes as you looked up at him. You had spent long enough with him to be able to read his coal eyes. Kit’s arms pinned you against the wall on either side of your head. It was strange for him to be dominant over you. 

“Bunny, you are my girl. Didn’t you already know that? Was I not obvious enough?”

In the luminance of the city light, his green skin was hauntingly beautiful. And his personality- Maker did you have things to say about that. The male Jedi was quiet, but knew just what to say when you were feeling down or needed an extra push. Kit was always up for a good laugh, being much more laid back than some of his Jedi counterparts. ahem, windu He could always tell how you felt, not only through your force bond, but also through his remarkable head tentacles that could somehow detect phermones. yes, that’s canon i think Kit was not only adept fighter on land, but in water too. 

You never thought you would be so close to the Nautolan, but here you were. Faces just inches from each other. Kit felt your heartbeat increase at his words of encouragement. A smile was proud on his face. 

“So you like me back?”

“Like? I love you back, bunny.”

You giggled. Your hands cupped the sides of his amphibian skin. The texture was very smooth. He leaned into your touch, arms returning back at your waist. Just like when you trained, his body was pressed against yours. 

“I love you too, Master.” 

He laughed. Tingling sensations lit up your body as he planted butterfly kisses all over you. Your forehead was his first victim. You never knew your skin could be so sensitive as he continued to explore it. Kissing both of your cheeks, he tilted his head down to gain more leverage on your neck. 

His lips graced the edge of your jaw. “Maker, I craved for your kiss.” 

You were stunned into silence. Head tilted into the wall, nails scratching at his bare back. Anyone could catch you two. He seemed to have a similar train of thought. Without disconnecting your bodies, he opened his door and guided you two inside his room. 

Once again, his lips were upon your neck. He started at the base, slowly drifting up. But he was greedy against your sweet smelling skin. 

Years after years of pining after his bunny...and this was just the after affects of finally getting what he wanted. 

There was an undeniable need for you. A burning hunger that ripped through him. He was eager to take you all in. The nightgown and phermones you were releasing most certainly weren’t helping his case. Oh, and the pleasured sounds you were making as he bit gently at your skin. 

“Bunny, you are iresistable.”

You laughed airily. Bringing him in, your lips collided together as one. If you could choose one word to describe what you felt like, it would be heavenly. You two were mated together forever, with the force freely moving about you. The bond you two held was unbreakable. 

“I love you, Kit, and I’ll say it a million times again.”

(hmgh the inbox is empty n im kinda bored so have sum incoherent thoughts n ideas abt lou under the cut)

(i think ive mentioned a few times tht lou likes singing but that is admittedly an understatement. he loves singing. he hears a song he knos the lyrics to and he feels incredibly compelled to sing tho his lack of confidence stops him in public spaces. u may hear a bit of humming when no ones paying attention to him tho)

(going off that there are certain kindsa songs he likes singing more than others, think its been mentioned that he likes higher energy music generally speaking so naturally thats the kinda music he likes to sing to but he REALLY likes songs he can just belt to it feels so satisfying to him. he is surprisingly good at adele songs)

(he cannot sing really rough throaty songs to save his life tho like just thinkin abt it makes his throat hurt. he likes a fair bit of metal and screamo n stuff but his voice is just too smooth to sing it. smooth but lightly textured. like vanilla icecream w the lil vanilla beans n stuff still in it. hes also not very good at whistling)

(hes mostly a tenor but he does have a pretty decent range and his falsetto is p decent tho it does hurt his throat)

(its also been mentioned that hes alright at guitar but i like 2 thnk inbetween whatever actual lessons he took the very first songs he taught himself were probably sum very embarrassing sappy little love songs w simple chords. u kno how it is when ur a repressed gay teenager)

(idk how any of yall read his voice but generally he talks kinda quietly, very much not a very loud or present person, which is good for not getting caught committing crimes but not very good for socializing as he has discovered.)

(his semi soft voice is decently reflective of his physical characteristics too, i think i mentioned like once that his hair is very thick and soft, but his skin is also p soft with the exception of some scars here and there)

(speaking of his more notable scars are a burn scar on his right forearm from when he was really young, no one remembers exactly how he got it but it had something to do with a kitchen accident, and sum cut scars on his left shoulder from shortly after he’d moved out of his mom’s house. he also has various minor scars on his hands and wrists from handling/playing with cats and getting into the occasional knife fight back in the city as well as a very small scar on his upper lip from a time a dog bit his face when he was young)

(u might not guess it but he is incredibly clumsy and does not have the best spatial awareness when it comes to like. objects. he does fine not crashing into people but hes probably bumped into a lamp post at least once)

(idk if its ever come across but he also does lots of hand gestures when hes talking. snapping his fingers or shaking his hands when hes tryna think trying to illustrate what hes talking about with vague motions. he does a lot of shit w his hands in general, tapping fingers on surfaces drumming his hands on his legs, doin peace signs n finger guns and playing with his fingers/clothes mindlessly)

(hes also the kinda person who has an idle animation™ when hes not distracted by talking to someone or just paying attention to something he’ll probably rock back n forth on his feet or bobbing up and down probably to the rhythm of a song stuck in his head or something, speaking of songs, again, humming is a thing he does too)

(if u read the previous 2 points and thought “that sounds like stimming” ur exactly right)

(he stumbles over his words a bunch when hes excited, even if hes trying to keep his cool stumbling and stuttering are some of the most tell tale signs of him being excited tho it also happens when hes anxious or flustered. id say it applies to strong emotions in general but it absolutely does not apply to stuff like when hes real angry or sad)

(when hes real angry or sad his speech tends to actually be much more concise, he’ll speak slower and take time to really consider his words. when he’s angry both his expression and the words he chooses have the potential to cut like a hot knife thru soft butter, and when he’s sad hes more considering his words to try and keep from bringing the person hes talking to down)

(ive drawn him with a sketchbook a couple times but he probably has a journal with some writing in it too, nothing serious just thoughts he has sometimes phrased with flowery words but its not like. super amazing poetry or anything. hes no elliott)

(speaking of sketchbooks he absolutely draws his friends from time to time. hes incredibly embarrassed by it and hed never show anyone but he does it. a lot of his doodles are accompanied by lil thoughts and comments he has while makin em)

(back when he worked for joja i like to think he was like a phone operator for like. the joja help line or smth which is an oxymoron and he probably spent most of his work day getting yelled at by ppl over the phone. he does not like talking on the phone. much prefers texting)

(idk how clear ive made it on the blog but he absolutely hates morris. morris is probably the only person in town who hes like physically threatened. morris has thusly elected to avoid fucking with him as much as physically possible)

(i think its been mentioned he carries some kinda pocket knife on him at all times but he also likes to carry one a those novelty combs that looks n acts like a switchblade but its not. mostly just to fuck w ppl. pull out what looks like a switchblade then open it and hah uve been fooled it was a comb all along)

(speaking of combs bcus his hair is thick and wavy as mentioned before hes gotta take real good care of it or it gets. Unmanageable. when he was a teenager he didnt take care of it for a while n it got so long and tangled it broke like 2 combs it was awful)

(that in mind he is prone to getting wicked bed head. catch him when he first wakes up and its like a rat king was planted on his head)

(also did i mention he has several knives? pocket knives switchblades hes probably got a decorative dagger in a box somewhere, and ofc his monster fighting sword. he probably has a pair of brass knuckles somewhere too)

(its defintiely been hinted at more than a few times but lou is a huge foodie. he is always hungry and loves food but he cant stand mint or bitter tastes sometimes he has a hard time w sour stuff too. he likes spicy and savory/umami/w/e foods best, and while he does have a decent sweet tooth he can make himself sick off sugary stuff pretty easy especially w really dense sweets like fudgy brownies n shit)

(the reason hes not so good w mint and bitter things is cus his senses r very keen and bitter and mint are very unpleasant to his mouth and nose. theyre intense and stick around much longer than theyre welcome and it just feels bad ykno. this in mind he could not explain to u why he likes spicy stuff as much as he does)

(hes also really sensitive to like actual temperatures, especially heat. if it gets too hot and humid it can make him real nauseous n give him a migraine, hes better in the cold but even then it makes him really sneezy n sniffly. this is moderately ironic considering the previous point)

Do you have any tips for cleaning Furby eye chips? I've used acetone to remove most of the posing but they're foggy and tinted the same color as the original eye paint ;-;

(but the usual disclaimer applies: 99% of my knowledge is theoretical and hasn’t been field-tested, and the other 1% comes from other weird non-furby hobbies. my research was thorough but i can’t remember my sources. please be careful when crafting, and shop around when doing your research!)

step one: acetone Bad. (i actually love acetone, this is an acetone fan blog, but using acetone is VERY not recommended.) unless you’re deliberately trying to melt something, and are okay with unpredictable results, Do Not Use It On Plastics. acetone is too kickass of a solvent, and that has a high possibility of causing surface damage.

(i actually tested this part with pure acetone, a mcbitch faceplate, and a 98, since i’m nothing if not curious. giving the mcdonalds furby face a quick wipe with acetone (and washing it with dish soap immediately after) gave it a bit of surface melt and messed up the texture - i had to sand the faceplate to smooth it out again. dripping acetone on a skinned 98 and leaving it until it evaporated made the 98 look like i held a lighter to it.)

acetone is notorious amongst BJD people for damaging resin. fashion doll collectors use its plastic-melting properties to make “glue” out of spare doll parts, so they can kind of weld other doll parts together. vinyl doll collectors use acetone to literally shrink doll heads, since acetone melts plasticizers and lets you turn “soft” plastic into “hard” plastic. (going to experiment with that at some point, but not yet.) anyways -  please don’t use acetone unless you’re willing to deal with the really fucky results. isopropanol is slower and weaker, but it won’t fuck your shit up

step two: reevaluate method

i admittedly haven’t gotten too close and personal with furby eye chips, but i’m guessing that they’re pigmented through and through, and not just surface-painted. or maybe the paint just stained?? idk. either way - if acetone can’t fully remove the colour, you’re kinda stuck with what’s left.

covering the surface is the most immediately possible option. some people paint over the chips (probably with acrylics), you could try watercolour pencils over a sealant like testors dullcote or mr super clear if you feel like spending more time and working on your faceup skillz, etc etc. (as per always: safety is of utmost importance, never spray aerosol sealants without a respirator, paint in a well-ventilated area)

replacement chips seem like less work, but require more effort in sourcing. i think blythe eyechips are the right size for adult furbies, or maybe pullip? and there are a lot of really gorgeous options for those. i’ve also seen people using glass cabochons over those printed eyechips, and a post going around recommending which specific cabochons (a more dedicated furby blogger could probably help you there, i’m. kinda inconsistent with my community involvement)

and there’s always weird inadvisable options that take too much work, like re-sculpting the chips with airdrying clay or figuring out how to dye plastics or something, but that’s too much of a gamble to be worth it imo

FAM Leader 1: Personally I really like Innisfree Green tea seed serum, it really lives up to all the hype. When I started using it my skin became so soft and cleared up a lot (though, I still get breakouts). Also, blotting paper can be a real lifesaver sometimes when your face is super greasy and you can’t wash it.

FAM Leader 2: I’m another FAM leader whose skin literally goes from dry to oily for absolutely no reason. Head’s up, prepare yourself for a very long list.

Mac lipsticks - I have shade Velvet Teddy and it is SO BEAUTIFUL I always get complimented on the colour when I wear it

Maybelline Fit Me foundation, I used dewy and smooth and absolutely LOVED IT, but the shade range is a bit funny so I had to move to higher end brands to get the shades I wanted //:

Random FAM leader comment: if you’re looking for eyeshadow, go with Zoeva palettes, they’ve got really nice colours with strong pigments and these are pretty affordable ($38) as compared to so many other eyeshadow palettes!!

Makeup wise I have a couple favourites. Maybelline fitme matte and poreless foundation, maybelline hypersharp wing eyeliner (the shape of the pen are just so so precise and the formula is not bad- especially for how much it costs). Colourpop lipsticks, eyeshadows and highlighters are also to die for- the pigment is amaaaaazing.

These are the products that have kind of stood out for me and I highly recommend checking them out!

APRIL 2017 ipsy Glam Bag Review

Yay! My favorite time of the month, subscription unboxings!

I am a huge fan of monthly subscription services, therefore I plan to post a detailed review of each subscription that I receive throughout the month so you can see the products that I received and hopefully these posts will help you in choosing which subscription is right for you! Ipsy is one of my all time favorite subscription services because you ALWAYS get a 2-3 full sized products/tools. The overall value of each bag is well over what you will pay for it. And for only $10 a month you honestly can't go wrong with it. ipsy Glam Bag: April 2017

GLAM BAG

Okay, first of all let's talk about this month's glam bag. I'm underwhelmed. I normally love the bag designs but this is by far my least favorite and I have almost two years worth of bags. It's just tacky. When I saw the first glimpse of the bag online, I immediately assumed it would be bad quality, but I have to admit the bag actually feels and looks nicer than I had expected. Either way, I just do not like the look of this bag. Not to mention, it had an extremely strong chemical, plastic smell which I have never encountered before with an ipsy bag. Either way, I am sure some people love this bag, it's just not for me. My overall thoughts on the products in this months bag were mainly positive, however. I feel like with any subscription you are going to have hits and misses. But I would say this month deserves a 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

Product 1: Hanalei Aloe Soothing Gel

Okay, so this was honestly my least favorite item in the bag. The sample size is pretty small and it smells terrible, which probably means that its pretty good for your skin. I have tried a few products by this company in the past and have been pleasantly surprised with all of them. This is obviously not a full size product. The sample I received was 10 g, on the Hanalei website you can purchase the full size at 100 g for $30. I am wearing it as a primer today and it is holding up fine. Not sure I will be replacing my Smashbox Photo Finish Primer anytime soon but it may be a good option for others, and I can definitely see it being great for moisturizing and refreshing the skin! Product 2: ColourPop Cosmetics Crème Gel Pencil in the shade Show Me

YESSS! I love getting Colourpop items in my glam bag! And I was so excited to see that this was a product that I didn't already own! Let me start off by saying that all of the Colourpop Crème Gel Pencils are super creamy and pigmented and they glide on like a freakin' dream. This pencil was no different and, THIS IS A FULL SIZED PRODUCT!!!!! You cannot go wrong with that! This metallic shade is a vivid true copper that can elevate any look and it stays in place all day! Product 3: Hey Honey Bésame Mucho Shea Butter and Propolis Lip Balm

Are you asking yourself: "What in the world do Bésame Mucho and Propolis mean?" I am one step ahead of you thanks to Google, Bésame Mucho literally translates to "Kiss me a lot" and Propolis is a compound produced by bees thought to fight infections, heal wounds, and more. (Hey Honey.... Bees, get it?) Anyway, I love this product. It is almost like a whipped creamy texture, but it is super smooth and soft. It leaves my lips feeling extra silky and moisturized. You know, it's like one of those products that you will easily get addicted to and use the entire tube in one day, anybody? No? Just Me? Alright moving on then.. it has a very light scent. At first I thought it was unscented but it does have an ever-so-slight sweet/honey smell to it which I love. Another important factor is that it doesn't have a horrible taste like many other lip products do, in fact it doesn't really have a taste at all. This isn't quite the full size product but it is a deluxe sample size. The sample I received was 8 ml, with the full size coming in at 15 ml for just $14. Worth it? I think so! This formula is perfect for dry and chapped lips, and it is already working wonders on mine! Here are a few details according to the Hey Honey and ipsy websites:

Product 4: Naked Cosmetics loose pigment in the shade Heavy Metal #04

Oh boy, was I excited for this. I have been hearing more and more about this brand and have been dying to try out one of their products so imagine my excitement when I realized that I was getting this little beauty this month! YEEEEEE! This gorgeous rusty/copper metallic shade is STUNNING. The pigmentation is insane, a little bit goes a long way. I can't wait for a night out so I can mix this babe with a little fix plus and rock it all over the lid! *note- definitely recommend doing eyes before foundation with this product as the powder tends to get everywhere*. Also, I went on their website to check out what other colors they had and I was kind of overwhelmed, partially by all of the super cool products they have and partially because their website is weird and kind of hard to navigate. I think this is a full size product at 1.5 gm, if not it is a wonderful sized sample. I think this will last me literally forever. I went on the website to compare sizing but I couldn't find a size listed... soooo idk. But the full size product costs $14.99 on their site. Product 5: Luxie Beauty Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush 660

Oh man, do i LOVE a Luxie brush! These are some of my very favorite brushes. I own so many of them yet I have none from thee Luxie X ipsy collection, UNTIL NOW. This brush is amazing. It is so pretty to look at I almost didn't want to use it at all. It says this is a foundation brush, but honestly, I am going to use it for either baking or highlighting. It is the perfect size for up under the eyes and it applies highlight to the cheekbones flawlessly. The bristles are so soft, giving you that pretty, airbrushed finish.
