advice i think we should tell children is that when adults say stuff like ‘now that i’m an adult i get really excited about stuff like coffee tables and bathrooms and rugs etc’ they don’t mean ‘and now i don’t care about blorbo and squimbus from my childhood tv shows anymore’ bc your average adult still loves all the same pop culture stuff they always did; they just have a greater appreciation for the mundane as well. growing up just means you can enjoy life twice as much now. you can get really excited about a new stuffed animal AND about a new kitchen sponge. peace and love

I don't mind that Walker Scobell doesn't look like book!Percy because 1) he's absolutely got the spirit. Walker basically is Percy, you can see and feel that in every one of his scenes, and

2) If book!Percabeth had a baby, he would look exactly like Walker Scobell, and I think that's hilariously perfect

Going on my own tangent about multigenerational households, coming from a culture where it's normal to live with your parents as an adult, often even after marriage until you've got the means to have you're own place (and then you're parents often live with *you*)

It needs to be said that if you struggle to see your adult children as equals, that probably says soemthing about how you saw them when you raised them. If you raised them anticipating they would one day be adults capable of their own opinions, it'll be easier for you to then listen to said opinions when it comes to your shared living space.

I bullied my parents for several years straight over our living room, and they never pulled a "it's my house I pay the bills" card on me.

"The lights are too dim and you're just too used to it to notice." They listened and we now have a well lit space they agree is an improvement.

"Were painting the walls green this time. I'm sick of the dull colours and I don't care if it's a trend." They brought home paint swatches, and yeah they had a say, I say bullied more jokingly, but I absolutely was allowed to tell them "We should do this with the house" and be taken seriously, even when they didn't always get it or agree.

And we got the green paint right when covid started and lemme tell you we would've lost it if we hadn't that paint job saved us all.
