So their wings might start to… mutate a bit. Just shift and adjust here and there, grow bigger than how they should, with how flight had been lost so long ago. Some now covered in a waxy sheen, others bioluminescent, more with flickers of scales like moths. Others even further changed, the tops opening into maws, eyes blinking amidst feathers, leaves growing from bone like it’s a branch. 

And the Outside remains oblivious beyond the shields, unaware of the rising anger behind it as instincts of predators are returned and brought anew. Where the dead and the living meld into something new. Something Other to what they once were. 

And the GIW are starting to become concerned with how the things inside are searching for a way out. It… might be time to ask for assistance.

i found a book abt the anti lawn movement at the library & decided to sit out in my yard & read it. but ironically there was a neverending barage of power tool noises making it difficult to focus. so i walked to a nature park near me in order to escape the dreaded sounds. almost stopped at the mowed picnic table area bc i hate walking but fortunately pushed forward and made myself walk up an annoying hill to an area that is a preservation of a native oak savanna & sat down against a tree near the edge of the path & did my reading there. and honest to god that was a 100/10 experience. there was something so powerful abt being in a preserve for a locally native habitat while reading abt the impacts homeowners can have on native plant preservation! it powered up my energy towards my life mission (evangelize abt enviormentally sustainable gardening to every single person who comes within a 10 ft radius of me) by like. 15 points. also a deer walked up to me and that was super cool

I think when people say nightmare time is optional it means for people who are fans of Starkid because they like musicals, nightmare time provides extra context for the Hatchetfield musicals but you don’t have to watch it to enjoy or understand those musicals. Nightmare time is not optional for Hatchetfield fans who want all the lore. I have watched all of nightmare time and enjoyed it but first and foremost I’m here for the musicals and enjoyed all three without the context of nightmare time (I watched nightmare time between watching the NPMD digital ticket and the YouTube release)

for starkid in general? may be optional if you are here for the musicals, thats totally fine!!! if youre not into seeing something that has a few songs each ep cuz you prefer musicals, its ok !! (i still recommend it tho. the few songs that nmt has are so fun)

but for hatchetfield? its so important to know what the hell is going on ngl. even if each show works as a stand-alone, if you really want to get into the story PLEASEE watch nmt. youll get more stories, more about characters and its so cool.

ive seen a lot of people (especially on tiktok) asking about what show is it so they can get into it, the responses always mention "nmt is optional and watch it in any order" and again, even if they work as stand-alone, if you wanna understand them and enjoy them EVEN MORE that you already do as a stand-alone, you should totally go chronologically and watch nmt to get WAY MORE context about npmd. and also helps if you wanna know more about certain characters like linda for example, you get to know a lot about her, like her kinds and even gerald and ALSO you get such a cool story about her.

if you ever tell someone to watch the hatchetfield series, im begging you to not tell them its just simply optional and skip it to npmd, instead, tell them that it will help them to know even more about the series and it gives huge context about the shows and is such a fun thing to watch.

even if someone told you the stories already or you searched what theyre about, you can also put them as background noise if you want!!! that way we'll have the opportunity to get nmt3 and that would be so fun !!!!! more stories !!! YAY!!!

anyway yeah what im trying to say is, if you wanna get into the hatchetfield lore and wanna understand whats going on, please watch or listen nmt !!!

Sickness update: Still coughing, but it's (mostly) dry coughing now, and my headache is gone! But I'm not at 100% back-to-normal mental capacity yet either :(

Writing update: I've been hard at work on my angsty longfic! I was going to work on something lighter (especially with my cold) but all of a sudden more and more ideas to add to my AU kept popping in my head and I just had to jot them down.

Before long I was finally organizing my outline by putting all my previous bullet-point came-to-me-at-random-times-of-the-night-and-put-in-an-equally-random-order concepts into plot-chronological order as they should be, and making headings/sections for the major location changes to find stuff easier, and getting down how exactly series-and-collection-wise I want to go about categorizing the fic and its sequels, and finalizing their titles (which are all names of songs on The Glitch Mob's Drink the Sea album, give it a listen with good headphones if you haven't before, it's great background music!!) and oh yeah I needed to go over the h2hs again better open that doc, and I definitely need to have the game's script and cutscenes on hand for reference as needed (which was very frequently) and now baby I've got a stew going

I'm having so much fun writing characters I haven't gotten to write before, and (minor/vague Xenoblade spoilers) digging into the details of the lore about Face Mechon and expanding on my take of what was happening on the Mechonis before the party got there, and fitting lots of little puzzle pieces that the game gives you but doesn't directly tell you they belong together which is why I love it so much, and getting into such a nice flow state with it all and gjshfhskfh I love Xenoblade 1 so muchhhhhh!!!

So all that is to say I will hopefully be posting the prologue tomorrow or the day after! :) No promises as it's gotten much longer/more-detailed than I planned for (although I really should have expected that, it's always how it goes with me when I'm having fun writing I just can't stop haha) but it is most definitely on the way to being published soon!
