All Signs Say "Yes"

Secrets Happened on the litchi Island has already been a fantastic journey of colors and symbols, but it nailed the ending because CHEN LI PICKED RED!

The Blue Boy picked red!

Then he set out to get his Red Rascal!

I do not understand the marriage plot, but I don't care (someone explain it!) because the Red Rascal was wearing green, which I felt was the middle between red and blue, or the earth between the fire and the water.

Then Red Rascal Xiao Zhi graduated in pink when he thought he spotted Chen Li in blue in the background.

But I think this was all part of the plan because Blue Boy Chen Li with the one red box on his desk had received three boxes of lychees, which means he solved the fruit issue on the island, and since lychees are symbolic of love, that means he solved his love problem, and now, just like the fruit, his love is abundant!

He also lied to Xiao Zhi's brother and said the professor told him to share the fruit. We saw him delete the original text that simply asked if he wanted some just so he could rewrite a more direct message, so he could deliver the fruit to the brothers (for the possibility of seeing Xiao Zhi).

Xiao Zhi's brother originally said he'd pick them up, but he didn't deliver them to Xiao Zhi, so Chen Li in his blue shirt that has a red top over it (with his green bowl with red chopsticks) comes up with a plan to see his Red Rascal.

He looks at the pink bottle of liquor (it's peach honey and not lychee which would have been too perfect!) and decides to deliver his own box of lychees to Xiao Zhi instead since he can't speak to Xiao Zhi directly because he changed his number.

And just like earlier with Xiao Zhi in green, when he walks in to find the lychee, he is all in green and surrounded by green.

His roommate (who may like him?) thinks his very good-looking brother has delivered the fruit, but when Xiao Zhi calls his brother, his brother states he had someone else deliver them.

Then, Chen Li lies about his car being in the shop just so he can see Xiao Zhi at the bus stop! Xiao Zhi sees him drive away in his car!

But all signs are pointing to a reunion! The signs at the bus stop read "imagining your return," "the same city," and "long time no see"

And even though Chen Li met him in the city, he walks with him through the park, which is the greenest space in the city. He asks for Xiao Zhi's new number, and when Xiao Zhi puts himself in Chen Li's phone as "little brother," Chen Li gets upset and changes the name!

So this is when Xiao Zhi pieces it together! The roommate picked up a "gay vibe" (it's a conversation involving math) from Xiao Zhi's brother "who looks nothing like him" because it wasn't his brother. It was Chen Li, and once Xiao Zhi goes through Chen Li's socials with the lychee (aka Chen Li's love) right there in front of him, he sees a sunrise which is a callback to them watching it together, which was the last time they were happy together.

And his red fire painting with a caption about how Chen Li realizes he no longer wants to live in fear of what society thinks of him.

He wants passion even if it means suffering!

So this Red Rascal devises a quick plan of his own. He asks his brother for more lychee, the brother tells him to ask Chen Li, which confirms the brother was never part of the delivery, so he empties out the container of lychee, acts like he has no more, then asks Chen Li for more lychee (MORE LOVE!). His text is blue.

And Chen Li immediately responds that he has more. His text is red. They have exchanged colors just in time for Chen Li to use the newly acquired phone number to then call and ask Xiao Zhi if he wants to eat dinner with him the next day.

Xiao Zhi doesn't hesitate to run out of the house full speed in his pink top and red shorts because he knows exactly what this means!

And as he runs through the city, he runs past a slew of dark signage, yet one red sign is brightly lit, and it's "dream" since this Red Rascal's dream is finally coming true.

He calls Chen Li back and asks what his apartment number is to which Chen Li eagerly responds believing Xiao Zhi is saying yes to meeting him for dinner, but then Xiao Zi busts through the door (the door code has to be meaningful), and the sign over the door wishes him "Good Luck"

Then he spots Chen Li behind all the red fortunes, and their fates finally align!

And although I cannot understand fully what this book on the shelf is about, it seems to be a story about how two gods became human because of love.

Apparently, there are two more books in the series about summer and spring, which are also on the shelf.

And I think that's perfect because at the end, they are back at the green place that they fell in love where the lychee grow with Chen Li in his blue, and Xiao Zhi in a shirt that has butterflies on it.

They are in love, and they are together!

So please let us get extra scenes of them just being boyfriends.

And being in love with each other.

Because as the end card stated, they are the best in their own little world.

And now I have to go back and watch all the episodes to figure out all the small details I missed!

So I’m not doing a re-watch per-sé….but I do have the capability to set the entire series on shuffle. That’s right, all 15 seasons. Lemme just say, game changer. My Autistic ass needs to see Sam and Dean in different eras all the time and this changed my life. Now when I want background noise, I can just shuffle the entire series to random episodes at anytime. I can’t deal with not having Supernatural on alot of times but if it’s just going episode by episode, season by season, I don’t like it only because I miss the era of random show episodes on cable TV. Like, I just watched an episode from season 2, and now the next episode is from season 10 lol I just wanted to talk about it randomly.

My shuffle must have channelled Wincest heavy episodes lately though, and I am in no way complaining.

Blog: It's the thing I can't ignore

I just turned my music down.

Why is this important? Well, at the same time, I also pulled up a reminder that I wanted to talk about different kinds of background noise when it comes to being neurodivergent and trying to create an environment for focus.

So. Timing.

The most important thing to state here is that this is what works for me; it is not a recipe for perfection for everyone with some form of neurodivergence.

I have often been asked “Why don’t you put on headphones?” as a way to resolve issues with noise in a space. The answer is: I can’t. It doesn’t work for me.

I saw a video recently where it was a skit between two people (one ND, one NT) discussing how they parsed the conversation flowing around them in a crowded room.

For the neurotypical person, they focused in on the person they were speaking with, tuning out everything in the background.

For the neurodivergent person, they pointed out that every single conversation in the room was equally audible. It became a mashup in their head, making it nearly impossible to focus on the conversation with the person near them, because their brain gave equal weight to the conversation going on at the next table over.

I saw this and screamed “YES” because that’s it. Exactly.

Add in random background noise, which my brain also cheerfully elevates to high importance level, and hearing becomes difficult. I have to look at someone and see their lips moving. I don’t read lips. But I have to be able to put the two things together to get my brain to remember that THAT is the particular sound to pay attention to and parse.

I do not do well in crowded or loud environments.

This also means that when I’m in my office, and there are sudden noises coming out of the arts studio down the hall, my brain is constantly picking up on them as Important Must Pay Attention things rather than relegating them to background.

The reason why putting on noise cancelling headphones to pipe music into my ears does not work is because putting it CLOSER to me makes it WORSE. Headphones scream “most important” to my brain, and thus, that becomes the focus thing. Not the words on my screen. Not the task at hand. Certainly not writing.

I suspect this may be a similar problem with notifications on my phone or Discord or whatever… brain promptly elevates their status, and I can’t function until I look at them. Side point, letting it go.

Anyway.

Right now I’m listening to a playlist made up of songs from anime I’ve watched—opening credits, endings, insert songs. And I just turned it down, because even having it be very familiar music in a language not my own was too much today. I needed it to be even more distance from. (Yes, it’s playing on speakers—no headphones here).

Does this affect me only when I’m trying to write or work? Nope.

I wear earplugs when I sleep, because if there is noise, it will wake me up. My brain is very insistent on that importance level of the things it hears.

Husband loves white noise, and I hate it. I find the chirping of night bugs, or running of water, or rumbling thunder all very distracting, yes, even when I’m sleeping. I tune in rather than tune out.

And the funny thing is, yes, he’s ADHD too. And I know so many people who have ADHD who find white noise to be something that saves them. Without it, they can’t focus. And I do get that.

Hell, as a teenager, I studied to top 40 hits on my radio, then replayed songs in my head to remember what I was reading at the time when the song played (and then would reread the page in my head, man I wish my memory worked that well now!).

So as I said at the start: not everyone who is neurodivergent processes things the same way. For me, I like having sound, but I need it be distant enough from me that I can put it aside, and it needs to be predictable in some way and not grate on my skin/eardrums.

(Just hit fast forward because that song had autotune which was absolutely distracting.)

Anyway. There are side points to this, like my discovery that I can process audiobooks, but had to figure out when and how they worked for me. And the knowledge that something that is background in one place might be distracting in another. And the fact that things change over time as our brains change (and in my case, apparently as my hormones change—did you know that menopause affects ADHD? SIGHS. Yeah, I know that too, now…).

Oh, and the different kinds of music that are required for different projects. Currently anime music works for me. Eventually I’ll go back to overly familiar pop punk. Or classical piano and guitar (wrote a whole book to that particular soundtrack).

But the short version is, figuring out what worked for me helped increase focus. And there are still days when I don’t know the answer, and wish I could tune everything out with earplugs in public spaces, but the flipside of everything is that when I’m not sleeping, I kind of freak out when I can’t hear the world around me. So.

The On1y One Colors - Halfway Point

I'm really trying to stay quiet about the colors in The On1y One until the show ends, but others have started noticing (like @super-fan, @avorbl, and @small-dark-and-delicious), so I can't contain myself since I'm sitting on 62 pictures of color-coded door hangers, bathrooms, snacks, food containers, and so much more.

I want to offer up something else that is obvious that I haven't seen people mention yet since people have noticed the rooms,

phones,

lighting,

and clothing.

Because the school's colors are them as well.

And it's where they initially met (notice who is higher and who is lower).

One is light, and the other is dark. One is the sun, and one is the moon. One is warm, and one is cool.

And the school and house have emphasized them embracing the other.

The posters told us they will balance each other out as they interact.

So even if they are still who they are, we see them shift positions (and sometimes colors like the poster shows) from their initial moment at the school and house.

Which truly began when they became closer.

And the horoscope told us that:

Venus and Mars are in a 180-degree opposition creating a powerful and intense attraction. The impossible can be possible. Now let's go upside-down!

The probability of meeting each other was slim, yet the sun and moon meet each other twice a day.

Then like the cafe and the teachers' story suggest, will they meet again?

Lately my favorite mixture over at myNoise generators have been Twin Black Lodges (news about David Lynch reminded me about the generator) and mixing it with White Rain and/or Fireplace, but they have a HUGE index of all sorts of atmospheric sounds you can tweak and layer~

electric guitar covers of lady gaga songs (I SWEAR TRUST ME ON THIS when you have too much energy but not enough mind juice for comprehending language and context i smash my brain in with a sickass lady gaga judas e guitar cover and somehow i can study then. i am being fr)

choose based on:

a. your study materials. have to listen to a lecture or a recording? choose something without much spoken language (like documentaries) so you wont get distracted

b. your mental state. how much brain juice is there for spoken word? only enough for sung words? only enough for instruments? only enough for soft music and rain? only enough for rain?

c. how high energy are you? are we in a guitar solo mood or a ballad mood or a acnh bg mood or a beach wave noise mood

ORRRR IN OTHER WORDS

have something you like to listen to for as many mental states and energy levels and types of study materials. they might seriously help you get in the right mood for studying and give your brain just enough input in both a. energy and b. comprehension. balance the stimulation dont go over and under essentially. like in flappy bird. studying is flappy bird.

and then disregard everything and listen to whatever you want lmfao (pls dont this helps i swear i study like this and its like suddenly i can focus on what i want to study its magic!!! im talking to my therapist about more checks on my neurodivergence bingo card!!!)

Streaming on Netflix, I stumbled across this show late in 2024 and, sadly, forgot how much I enjoyed it.

Often, when I'm "in between" shows, I search for shows that are "light" or simply for background noise. I'll often return to some of my favorite shows, THAT 70'S SHOW, NEW GIRL, 2 1/2 MEN....But, I stumbled across this hidden gem.

According to IMDB (an app EVERY TV and movie lover should download)... the show is detailed as A.P. Bio (2018)

A former philosophy professor who takes a job teaching advanced placement biology uses his students to get back at the people in his life who have wronged him.

At first, I was unsure if I was going to continue my dive into the show.

The majority of the cast are unknown but they all completely capture your attention and make you want more.

Currently, I'm on the 3rd season of 4 and I cant stop watching.
