#and maybe all I'll ever do is write silly little drabbles of silly little characters

🤲
🤲what do YOU get out of writing?
I really struggled with answering this one because I'm not sure how to put it into words. I've always been writing - my whole life, even during those years I was convinced I should quit - all I thought about was writing.
From the earliest days it brought me comfort when no one and nothing else could, its always been a safe way to vent and express myself, it helps me work through emotions when I don't understand them any other way, and it brings me inarticulable joy to speak fluently on pen when my mouth fails me.
I've been eat sleep and breathing this media for as long as I could hold a pencil and at this point it's just a part of who I am, I can't imagine myself without it. I know that's super dramatic, but I can't express it any other way. It's really, truly important to me.

20 question for writers tag game
tagged by @softodettes (👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩)
1. Total number of ao3 works?
10 (3 are anon because they're just silly little drabbles hehe)
2. Total ao3 word count
104,415 (oopsie get this girl some sunlight)
3. Fandoms I've written in
Just Fourth Wing.
4. Top 5 fics by kudos
Death of a Sun A Safe Place for Change (the couples therapy fic) Good Morning Evergreen (the one where xaden's eyesight is bad) Self Control (liam pining) Solace (the one where xaden is babygirl)
5. Do I respond to comments?
Yes like 99.67% of the time :) comments make me so happy and I love yapping.
6. What has the angstiest ending?
Good Morning Evergreen.
7. What has the happiest ending?
Solace. Xaden literally just gets smooches and tucked into bed at the end. It's the happiest of happy endings.
8. Have I received hate?
Yeah, very occasionally, but I kinda deserved some of it haha.
9. Do I write smut? And what kind?
Sometimes. Mostly really mild stuff. I don't really enjoy writing smut. If it's in there it's to serve some function of the plot.
10. Do I write crossovers?
Nope.
11. Have I ever had a fic stolen?
Nope. I'll probably cry if this ever happens to me.
12. Have I ever had a fic translated?
Nah. But maybe one day I'll translate one of my short fics to Chinese just for fun.
13. Have I ever co-written a fic?
Nope. But I do really want to :) Sounds like fun. I'm just too shy to ask anyone to do this with me.
14. What is my all-time fave ship?
Officially, these are evenly matched in my bookmarks. But my favourite will always be Achilles/Patroclus/Zagreus. Platonically, I also really love Zuko & Wan Shi Tong fics.
Tumblr media
15. A WIP I'll never finish
I've been writing Translations in Aretia in the background for months now but I'm a little scared of posting another XVL long-fic where Liam/Violet has a stronger focus. There's also a bunch of canon re-write/missing scene fics that I'm not too motivated to write, a Brennan/Reader fic, and a Max/Tisaanah fic. I'll never finish these, probably.
16. Writing strengths?
Idk.
17. Writing weaknesses?
Dialogue. Especially dialogue between young characters. I have no idea how people in their late teens/early twenties talk. Tairn-speak is easier. I think the Hades fandom did that to me. I struggle with exposition too. Describing things always feels like a bland exercise. Prose is hard. Introspection is a nightmare. Writing is just really difficult.
18. Do I like foreign language dialogue?
I love it. I adore it. Foreign language dialogue and language barriers are among my favourite tropes. It's up there with accidental pet acquisition. My favourite CoD fic has a language barrier element to it. My current favourite book, Daughter of No Worlds, also has that. I just love this trope ruthlessly and indiscriminately.
19. First fandom I wrote for?
Fourth Wing.
20. Favourite fic I've written?
Good Morning Evergreen. I genuinely had so much fun writing this fic. I feel like with all my other works I'm pulling teeth just to get the words out, but with this one everything just flowed and I ended up writing it all in one sitting. I still re-read it from time to time which is crazy because I hate re-reading my fics. I also really enjoyed writing One Gentle Afternoon. Childhood memories are so fun for me :)
tagging @littlefirefox @copperfirebird @shipmistress9 but no pressure!!
omg a surprise cat

Hiiii rieeee! How are doing these fine days (me? Not so good haha but ill live)
Sorry im late, but im finally here to drop you the things you asked for last time about the drabble idea. Here's what i came up with;
readers feelings: she appreciated him as a friend, then as she got older, it bloomed into something 💓else💓
is it one sided: both of them think its one sides but no its not one sided. They both liked each other, Its kind of tragic if you think about it. Neither of them knew the the other liked them, then suddenly they just got torn apart from each other. And those feelings still lingering in their heart, to the point neither of them got serious with someone else.
did Erwin's mother have any hand in readers family's misfortune: no, Erwin's mother had nothing to do with what happened to her family. Her father just made some bad business choices that made him lose his money and nobility, so they moved from their house and left town. Until reader became a responsible adult and moved back in twon for her little brother's education. That's when our King Erwin Smith saw her. It was her father who advised reader not to meet with the crown prince anymore, no matter how close of friends they are, her father told her it would paint a bad image for the prince to befriend someone from the lower class. She was hurt by his words but she understood the mission. Her father was a mere noble who served the royal family when it came to businessand trading, and they lost the right to serve after what had happened. And it made them keep to themselves even more.
The story doesnt really have any deep drama in it, there might be some twists and and turns to stop Erwin and reader from being with each other. Like their dumbasses not knowing the other person's feelings, or Erwin's mother arranging a blind date for her son, or reader's father not accepting their relationship because it would ultimately harm his daughter to be the King's wife than do any good.
And if i want to spice it up, I'll have Erwin get in a car accident and forget that he loves reader or something
Tumblr media
Im just joking.... unless ,':) In any case, it was small idea for a small fic that i dont know if ill ever write it.
You did ask for my writing blog, and that is: @fictionallystable its just there as a backlog of writings i did or writing i like to share or save to read later.
hi jay!! oh my god thank u for answering my questions last time 😙 first of all the "they both think it's one sided" NOOOOO WHY
Tumblr media
in for the angst tho. and i like that your characters, even the side casts like reader's father, still have their own volition that makes the plot run and theyre not jus silly caricatures standing like 🧍‍♂️ as our main leads do everything by themselves
but the car accident!!@ plEASEEE JDJSDJS 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
^ lichrally u with the spongebob meme you attached 😭
and yipee for the writing blog!! been talking to u for a while now and i know someone has a talent for writing when i talk to one, so i hope u keep it up!! (imma follow ur writing blog too jus in case u drop a dish 🤭)
the fanfic has manhwa vibes on it (mayb bc royalty plots are so prevalent in manhwa) and when i imagine erwin in that drawing style i jus deadass-

Hey, it’s my first time writing a fanfic and I was just wondering if you had any tips or tricks? And I was also wondering how you go about writing it, when you have an idea for a fic do you just start writing or do you map it out in a way?
Omg! First of all this is so sweet and I'm honored that you would ask me for advice lol
So one thing about me is I don't really write long-form stuff ever, but on the rare occasions I attempt to, I will typically have a very vague general timeline of events to keep the story on track, but sometimes it can develop into different directions.
For the shorter fics I write that are the ones that get published, typically I have an idea for a scene or interaction that I think would be interesting to explore and then I just think of a good place to start, and I start writing it. If I have a hard time coming up with a starting point, I'll just cut to the most intense moment I really wanted to write, then fill in the rest later. When I don't have an idea for a specific scene and more just a concept (ex: "Blorbo proposes to Scrimbly") I sometimes like letting the fic just develop from a random starting point and become itself.
Some tips that I use to avoid going OOC when writing fanfic is to, after the scene is written, read through and picture a character saying/doing the thing you have written (apologies to my aphantasia folks), and if it looks weird then you know to tweak the dialogue/action. I find that even slightly adjusting wording can make the difference between a character being in character or OOC
As many people will tell you, reading other works and practice are the best ways to define your writing (and art, and any skill I think). Reading helps you notice new styles and patterns of writing that you can adapt to your own stories, and practice just obviously helps make it work.
Personally, I write EVERYTHING that comes into my head. Every little silly scene or dialogue or drabble I think of. It doesn't have to be good, it doesn't have to hold to scrutiny, you don't have to publish it (my published work is maybe 10% of what I have written) basically just don't be afraid to be "cringe" or whatever, and if you are afraid to be cringe (I understand) then you don't have to publish the works you're not comfortable sharing
Basically keep writing and getting inspired and do whatever you want forever 🩷 thank you for the ask!

20 Questions for fic Writers!
Okay so, I was tagged by @outtoshatter and I'm just going to take a swing at this. Here we go.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Currently 22.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
202,411.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I mainly write for Dungeons and Daddies, Nark specifically. But I also have a couple in there for the Teen Wolf Sterek fandom.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
But You Have Heard of Me [ Teen Wolf, M, Wc: 82,014] (my baby!) The Taste of Perfume [DnDads, M, Wc: 58,717] (wip) Sudoku [DnDads, G, Wc: 5,226] Uno Attack [Dndads, G, Wc: 5,717] A Consuming Faith [Dndads, E, Wc: 33,963] (My baby wip! I'm aiming for another 80k with this one.)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Absolutely I do! If someone takes the time out of their day to not only read my silly little stories, but also comment on them, I will absolutely reply! Unless they're mean I guess? I haven't had any mean/rude comments yet so knock on wood. lol
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I love angst. I write it into a lot of things. But as far as endings go... hmm. Well I guess that title would currently go to one of my drabbles, A Done Deal [DnDads, G, Wc: 100] but without giving away spoilers one of my wips is going to take that title as soon as I get around to writting it lol.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oh, But You Have Heard of Me [ Teen Wolf, M, Wc: 82,014]. My baby~! Happy ending and maybe one day it will have a happy sequel.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I feel like I'm going to jinx myself by saying no. I haven't recieved any rude or hateful comments on any of my fics. Not even when I posted on LJ.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I am not confident when it comes to writing smut. I used to write a lot of it back on LJ. Now I just Fade To Black, but I do have plans to maybe write some for a wip. But idk we will see when we get there.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Nope! I wrote a fusion fic, But You Have Heard of Me [ Teen Wolf, M, Wc: 82,014] but no crossovers.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I am aware of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I had I believe 2 fics translated on LJ, but not on Ao3
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Hahaha, yes! On LJ my irl bestie and I wrote a fic together! It was very cute, we each did a chapter following one half of the ships pov. I'd love to do it again some day it was super fun! What I really wanna do is get a bunch of different writers involved in doing a collaboration where the characters are stuck waking up in different timelines, so each chapter could be a different one-shot by a different author but they all connect. I think it would be fun.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Sora/Riku. I don't write for this ship but I will fight god about them. I've been obsessed with them since I was 12 and played Kingdom Hearts. I have fics I've been re-reading for alkjsdflks way too long omg. When I played Kh3 and Riku showed up I screamed so loud it scared my partner. You can pry them from my cold dead fingers okay.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Hahaha, I just recently posted this fic to my Ao3. A Divine Move [Teen Wolf, M, 8,676] Stiles is a horror game character (based off games like Until Dawn and The Blair Witch Project) and Derek is from a dating sim (Based off Hunnypop lol) It was going to get an E rating cause I had some absolutely slasher ideas for Stiles game and the plot was loosely adapted from Wreck-It-Ralph. So, maybe one day I'll get the inspiration back, but as of now it's just not there.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I have been told I have a very clear writing voice and that I'm very good at setting a scene and showing it to the reader. I think my main strength is my humor. lol I find myself very funny.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
A lack of confidence alksdfjalksd. I get so anxious trying to make sure that the movie in my head is being translated into word correctly that I sometimes over do things. Also I have the absolute worst grammar, and spelling omg.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
If I don't speak the language enough to be confident that I'm using the words correctly I just do the "They said in language" kinda thing.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Okay, lmao. Okay okay. It was for the Gorillaz back when Demon Days had just come out.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
My two babies that I'm the most proud of are
But You Have Heard of Me [ Teen Wolf, M, Wc: 82,014]
I spent a year writting it and I made several friends because of it. It is my baby and I love it. I re-read it and still laugh at it.
A Consuming Faith [Dndads, E, Wc: 33,963]
I have been putting so much work into this fic and it's really pushing me as a writer. I have been obsessed with cult and demons since I was young, probably too young lol, so this is just basically 3 of my hyper-fixations coming together in a fun way. I have big plans for this fic and I'm very excited about it. I've been working on it for 7 months now, and I'm really hoping I can finish it before the end of the year.
Thanks for the tag! I'm going to tag some people and maybe they'll play along too, no pressure though and I have no clue what I'm doing so sorry if you didn't want to be tagged. @evanesdust @nottoolateforthegame @siogosho @missanniewhimsy @calamity-unlocked
