We will never see movies like the LotR series ever again. The amount of work that went into the props, set, make up, hair, costumes -- it's all been replaced by CGI at this point.

Not to sound boomer but the CGI in fantasy movies/TV shows really takes away from the immersiveness of the world that's being portrayed. It's obviously done to save on costs/labor/speed up production but like.

The real cost is the soul of whatever you're putting forth.

the interviews being shot like that is so incredibly funny, the jj breakdown scene/longshot is literally a cinematic masterpiece, hate to say it but the surrealism of the nighttime scenes being so badly set during "night" is kinda iconic to me, some of the hand-held moments, the zoomes-

this season is kinda fucked up (cough cough. *stares*) but tbh.... its definitely not my least favorite

Alright, I'm just going to say it:

I think Disney listened when every critic under the sun made fun of the unnecessary CGI Lion King remake for all of the characters having about as much expression as a stale piece of toast. And then they proceeded to completely overcompensate with this even more unnecessary Mufasa sequel

If the animation in the movie is as bad as the trailer made it look...

this may be something i might change my mind about later, but i don't actually Hate artificially generated aesthetic pictures that are like "fungus themed couch" "art noveau inspired camera" "stained glass bathtub" "gothic style platic chairs" or "really fancy sky" tbh. like i think there's lots of room for playing around with ideas and concepts using - applying some good faith here - public domain source photos or otherwise ethically/consensually acquired images. what DOES drive me up the wall is that every time i come across a set of pictures like that there's NO mention that it's artificially created. sometimes there's no source listed at all, which is really common for ~*Aesthetic Pictures*~ anyway. what's worse is when it's like, [Name Of Creator, Name of Collection, 2023] as if it's a legitimate art exhibit, with no mention of the program used to create the pics. that's actually pretty upsetting - the underhandedness of it all. ugh.

On the note of that Everyone's Beautiful and Nobody's Horny trend, it is extremely unsettling to watch a lot of modern ads, but in specific I'm thinking about 'cleaning'-related ads. It used to be that a competent set designer could make it look like this was a real home that people feasibly lived in, even if it was sometimes neater than any real home.

Now everything looks like the pristine, soulless set that it is. It's painfully obvious that each mess is generated in a specific portion of the blindingly white floor, or wall, or sink, etc. I've seen ads where people take obviously brand-new shirts and unfold them, then feign fainting at the "smell", as found on a pristine article from a stack of pristine articles in a pristine box. It's not even a terrarium, it's a box. I'm sure CGI is involved a lot, but even the stuff that seems to take place on a real set is just... hollow. It's creepy.

Not even all that long ago ads would have kids tipping giant bowls of spaghetti over half a couch or a dog shaking muddy water in the middle of a living room. Now everything looks generated, even when it exists in a physical form. It's eerie.

the new daredevil show (i watched 4 episodes)(pirated to not give disney money) is SO dogshit and terrible that I keep looking it up to blink in disbelief that people are enjoying it. more for them i guess.

While Rockman.EXE has a pretty solid design all around, I've kind of always disliked how his design lacked visible eyebrows 90% of the time. It's not that he doesn't have any, but you just can't see them due to the shape of his helmet. You can't really see his hair, either, other than what little pokes out the back.

It DOES feel like waiting. Not just for absent characters from the original but as its own standalone show.

We're six episodes in, and it still somehow feels like the setup stage. What the original series understood that BA doesn't seem to is the importance of mini-bosses and completing individual arcs. The first six episodes of DD were satisfying because they handled the entire Russian subplot. (And it was good!) By the end of 1x06, we felt like we accomplished something by having that wrapped up. It gives the viewer a sense of progress while still building to the main boss. (We then worked on the personal storyline of Mrs. Cardenas and the climatic DD fight with Nobu that ended both arcs. So on.)

BA keeps introducing storyline after storyline after storyline, and the only one to be wrapped up is the self-contained bank robbery. Not only does it remove a sense that we're going anywhere, doing anything, but it becomes overwhelming. Every episode they add something new to keep track of while not finishing anything they already put on the table. All achievements are being pushed to the last two episodes, and all we can do is hope they somehow manage to stick that substantial landing. In the meantime, we have no sense of payoff, only waiting.

As much as I’m enjoying the snow, it still lowkey feels like waiting. Not even necessarily just for Matt officially coming back as daredevil, in the back my mind I’m still waiting for foggy and Karen. And we know Karen will come back so that’s something at least, but if foggy is really in actuality dead, then it’s always gonna feel like something is missing from this show and I have no idea if they’ll ever be able to get away from that tbh, no matter how good the writing is otherwise

Madam web was bad but I dont think it was as bad as everyone was saying it
