Remember the werewolves? And being a werewolf was made into a kind of metaphor for having AIDS?

And you know how AIDS was first associated with gay men? And how conservatives back in the day were claiming gay men were preying on children in order to convert them to gayness?

Remember how Fenrir Greyback preyed on children in particular? Yeah, she put that subtext in there. She was an adult in the 90's. She knew damn well what she was doing.

Remember the house elves? Remember how most of them loved to serve and needed to have a home and a master or else they just wouldn't know what to do with themselves?

Did you know that's literally what slavers in the American South said about the Black people they kept enslaved? Go look up the happy slave myth.

Do I even need to get into the goblins and the antisemitic tropes they're based on? No, folkloric goblins were not gold-hoarding bankers waiting for their chance to stab humanity in the back.

"But the characters are so good!"

Are you kidding me?

Most of her characters are pretty one-dimensional, including Harry. Her idea of making a morally complicated character is giving a tragic past to a bully. Numerous characters are little more than stereotypes. (Looking at Fleur right now.) Literally anybody, including you, can easily make dozens of characters just as good, if not better. (It doesn't exactly take a lot of character designing skill to go, "hey, actually, having a sad backstory doesn't make it okay to bully children" or "hey, maybe I should not base a character on the first stereotype that pops into my head.")

"But the rest of the worldbuilding!"

Sorry, but her worldbuilding is just as basic as her characters. Magical castles and secret passages are stock tropes. Magical people who keep their true nature secret from humanity is the premise of pretty much every White Wolf TTRPG. Most of her fantasy creatures are just common European fairy tale and folklore creatures with shitty stereotypes projected onto them.

I'm not saying "basic worldbuilding bad." I'm saying, you could do just as good, if not better, with minimal effort.

Also there's her magical bioessentialism, where only Harry's abusive blood relatives could provide him with supernatural protection from Voldemort. Rowling thus effectively declared that non-biological family isn't quite real family, and that abusive biofamily can give you some essential thing that a loving, supportive family that isn't related to you just can't.

The Hogwarts houses are one of the most insidious elements of her worldbuilding. The idea of being sorted gives you a little dopamine hit because wow now you have a li'l niche where you belong!

But the actual function of the houses and sorting system and the House Cup is teaching children to see each other as rivals, and ensure that the most toxic views of the upper class get passed on to every new batch of kids sorted into Slytherin.

Hogwarts effectively prepares children for a dystopia where magic serves to distract its citizens from how nightmarishly awful it is. Economic inequality is so bad that people like Arthur and Molly Weasley can barely afford to put their kids through school, casual sadism is just an accepted norm in everyday society, and non-humans are second class citizens. Rowling sorta acts like she thinks this is a bad thing with certain lines she gave to Dumbledore, but in the end, her special boy protagonist becomes an auror; IE, a defender of the status quo. So.

If you've never seen it, Lily Simpson's video goes into even more detail on how the worldbuilding of Harry Potter is actually incredibly fucked up, and how it betrays small-minded attitudes on Rowling's part. There's no separating the art from this artist, because Rowling's rotten values pour out of nearly every page.

Yes, there are many things in Harry Potter that evoke feelings and inspire people, but there's absolutely nothing in it that this series has a monopoly on. You can find those same experiences in much, much better media.

- Anyways, after some censoring, each boy found a home in your lap, Suma's lap, and another sat on Hinatsuru's but leaned their head on Makio's arm. All of you entranced by Tengen's storytelling and prescence.

Tanjirou Kamado

From the moment you got close enough for Tanjirou to smell, he knew you were his soul mate. And before you know it, he's sprinting towards you, following the perfect smell. He stops in front of you, blushing like a fool from head to toe.

You can feel the pull towards him, even without an introduction. Your eyes can hardly leave each other, basking in the overwhelming silence. You smile at him, your own cheeks tinted pink, holding out your hand to him. He jumps out of his daze and grips your hand enthusiastically, bringing it to his lips to place a heartfelt kiss on your knuckles.

"I'm sorry to be so forward, i really should have introduced myself before. Please forgive me!" he bows deeply- so deeply you think his head may hit the floor. You fight back a sheepish laugh, shaking your head.

"My name is Tanjirou Kamado, it's beyond a pleasure to meet you," he still holds your hand carefully, loose enough for you to pull it away should you desire to. You don't.

"I'm (f/n) (l/n). I never imagined my soul mate to be as sweet as you, Tanjirou," you can see how his face turns even redder at your words, stuttering out broken sentences.

You gently squeeze his hand, "Did you want to join me on my walk? we have a lot to talk about, I feel"

He nods eagerly, letting you pull him through the streets, all while staring bashfully at the way your hair sways as you move. He thinks he might already be in love.

Zenitsu Agatsuma

'Marry me!'

Those were the words inked into your wrist. A brash, scribbling handwriting. Admittedly you were worried about the circumstances of you meeting your soul mate, given the intense first words.

Evidently, the situation was not nearly as sad as you worried it could be. You weren't being married off, no.

Your soul mate was just super weird.

You shake your leg, hoping to remove the boy from his hold. He's sobbing on the floor, mumbling incoherent pleas at you, still shaken up from the demon he would have been attacked by, had you not struck.

"W-what the hell? You can't just spring that on someone!" you squeal. Finally, he lets go, a look of shock on his face. A moment later a shockingly warm sensation takes over the two of you. You grip your wrist, and he scratches at his shoulder, letting out yelps of 'ouchies'

You look down at your wrist to see the letters glowing gold, pulsing against your bones. Zenitsu gazes up at you momentarily before bawling and returning to clinging onto your legs. You take the time to help him up while his two friends watch in confusion and embarrassment at his actions.

He holds both of your hands and brings them to his cheeks, and you can feel how hot his face is. "Y-you're my soul mate. That means you have to marry me"

You sigh but smile. At least he was enthusiastic, you guessed.

"Maybe let's just start with a date and we can go from there" His tears disappear at your words, replaced by a gigantic smile, not even you can resist.

Inosuke Hashibira

For as long as Inosuke can remember, he's had the name (f/n) (l/n) engraved into his collarbone. Too bad he couldn't read it without Tanjirou's help.

"(f/n) (l/n)..." Tanjirou taps his chin in thought for a moment before gasping, "I got it- that's the ice pillar's name! "

Zenitsu fawns at the idea, "Wow, imagine having a soul mate strong enough to be a Hashira"

He hears the word strong and immediately puffs out his chest, "If they're strong, I'm gonna beat 'em!" Tanjirou now realises that Inosuke doesn't know the concept of Soul Mates.

By the time he tries to explain it, the boy is sprinting through the courtyard, dodging pillars and kakushi.

"Inosuke-" Tanjirou cannot finish his mortified plea.

"ICE HASHIRA COME HERE AND FIGHT ME!" everyone turns towards him in shock and confusion.

"Don't be so loud! if you really wanna see them, they're sitting on that bench" Sanemi scowls at the group of boys, making Tanjirou blanch, uttering apologies.

You're peacefully lying across the bench, nose planted firmly in your book when a shadow falls over you. Slowly you gaze up at the man towering over you before moving to sit up straight.

You recognise the boy in the checkered haori, smiling "Hello Tanjirou. It's nice to see you again. Are these your friends"

Before a smiling Tanjirou can respond, Inosuke brings his sword down beside your hand.

"FIGHT ME!" his face flushes with blood as he seethes under his mask.

You give him a serene smile, "I'm sorry but I believe it would be dangerous for you if I were to fight back."

He pays no mind and swings his sword above him. He looks down only to find you gone in the blink of an eye. In less than three seconds, his katanas are wrenched out of his hands as he is pinned to the ground.

Tanjirou gasps at the embarrassingly short battle- if you could call it such. "Inosuke! Are you both alright?"

'Inosuke?'

You glance down at the man under your foot, "Is your name Inosuke Hashibira?" you ask as calmly as ever, gently releasing him from the hold.

"Yeah, what's it to you?" he scowls under his mask. He doesn't know why he's so nervous around you but it's pissing him off.

"My name is (y/n), the ice Hashira," your smile has an unanticipated calming effect on inosuke, "it would seem we are soul mates"

he blushes at your giggle, still not understanding what a soul mate is. He looks at Tanjirou for help, who sighs.

It was going to be an agonising conversation. He drags the boar boy away, inosuke still staring at you as you wave them goodbye. He wouldn't admit that he missed you already.

You're sitting upright, blabbing at your swan and moose from where they're both lying on the floor. You can see them through the bars of your crib but you get distracted once Pernille walks in.

She lifts you up and into her arms, where you go limp and start pulling at her shirt.

You aimlessly feel the fabric before you're deposited on the ground to play while Pernille makes breakfast. You're most calm in the mornings when you're still slightly sleepy.

You just sit amongst the pillows in the corner and poke and prod at the little toys scattered around you.

"Mmm," You hum as you roll up onto your knees and start crawling.

You've gotten very good at it, fast too, so you make your grand escape from solitary to set yourself underfoot of Pernille.

She looks down at you as you use her leg to stabilise yourself to stand. You seem content to just stand there, staring up at her as she makes breakfast while shovelling spoonful after spoonful of yoghurt into your mouth.

You smack your lips together a few times and hum," Mmm."

"Mmm," Pernille says back, nodding as she cleans off your face and gets you ready for the day.

It's with practiced ease that she brushes your hair and gets you dressed in your usual Harder jersey and some trousers. It's a bit harder to get your socks and shoes on because you have a habit of pulling them off when she's not watching.

But Pernille's used to the routine and so are you because you're in the car and at the training grounds before you could even blink.

"Morning," Alex says as she automatically takes you from Pernille.

"She's my baby, you know," Pernille says," You can't keep stealing her."

"She likes being stolen," Alex replies, swaying back and forth as you look around and suck on your fingers," I'm just making sure you're raising a Wolfsburg fan. I can't have you and Magda corrupting her or anything."

Pernille rolls her eyes. "Well, if you're stealing my child at least give her a ball or something to keep her occupied or she'll disappear before you notice."

"This little angel? No way, she loves staying with me."

"Mmm," You grunt, kicking out your legs until one of your shoes falls off.

Pernille sighs. "And if you put her down, make sure she's wearing her shoes."

Pernille doesn't see you a lot throughout the day. You're passed between player to player as they all train and coexist around each other.

You're returned to her for lunch by Ewa and then picked up by her for afternoon training.

"You not feeling sleepy, princesse?" Pernille asks when she checks the rear-view mirror to see you wide awake. Car rides almost always put you to the sleep, even if it was only a short trip back home from training.

"Mmm," You say, smacking your lips together when you notice you're being addressed.

"Mmm," Pernille repeats back to you, pulling up at the apartment, "That's nice."

"Mmm," You say again and Pernille smiles.

"Really? That's so interesting."

Pernille freeze suddenly when it finally registers what you've said. She whips her head around to look at you in the backseat.

You're still staring at her, unblinking.

"What?" A smile splits her face open. "Say that again, princesse. Momma."

"That's it." Pernille moves into the backseat with you, taking your little hand in her own. "Come on. Mmm is for?"

Pernille unclips you and brings you in to rest against her chest. She's not entirely sure what else she can say. You've been making little noises like that for weeks now but this is the first time it's intelligible.

summary ... takemichi and chifuyu stumble across angry...and his girlfriend!?! and smiley doesn't even know about her!?!!!

warnings ... fluff, angry being a wonderful bf <3, smiley opening his eyes, takemichi and chifuyu being little snitches lol

takemichi and chifuyu have been staring at the same couple for a while now..

staring at how angry[!] smileys little brother was holding hands with a very pretty girl, they were looking at the birds from outside the pet shop

angry, who always wore a pissed-off expression, had a soft smile with his...girlfriend[!?], she was pointing at a blue bird and then pointed back at angry, probably comparing his blue hair to the little bird's blue feathers

and angry gave out a little laugh

"no..way," chifuyu said with widened eyes

"do- do you think smiley knows?" takemichi took his eyes off the couple and looked at chifuyu

"he has to right? no way he wouldn't know!" chifuyu exclaimed

chifuyu had said that in fact a little too loud and that made angry turn around to the sound of a familiar voice but he saw nobody that he could recognize

"what's wrong souya?" you ask

"hm? uh! nothing, thought I heard someone familiar.." he said

you also look around, "oh, well, do you wanna go get some ice cream cups? they're having a sale for couples!!" you excitedly asked

angry's face heated up and he shyly nodded, reaching for your hand and letting you lead the way for him

"wow, chifuyu almost blew our cover!" takemichi hissed

chifuyu clicked his tongue and leaned out his head from the alleyway, he and takemichi were hiding in to look at angry and his girlfriend walking away from the pet store

"I didn't mean for it to be that loud!"

both of them now standing on the sidewalk that was in front of the alleyway and facing the direction where the couple walked off to

"im telling you! smiley should know-"

"smiley should know what?"

both of them whipped their heads around to see the commander of toman standing behind them and the captains behind him too

smiley walked up from behind the group with his bright smile and stood in front of both chifuyu and takemichi

"i should know what? huh?" he said

takemichi gulped, while chifuyu stood up straighter "we saw-ah!"

chifuyu glared at takemichi after he elbowed him, but takemichi shook his head "it's his privacy chifuyu.."

smiley started to get agitated at the lack of response he got for his question, "fess up you two, before I beat it out of you"

"easy, easy smiley, what's going on, huh? takemichy? chifuyu?" mikey asked, chewing on a steam bun

"we- its- we saw- maybe- we thought you knew!" both takemichi and chifuyu were talking over each other

"spit it out!" draken said

"we saw angry with a girl!!" they said in unison

"pffft! haha! my- my little brother with a girl?" smiley laughed "he's a nervous wreck around girls! almost as bad as hakkai!"

they heard a light 'hey!' but choose to ignore it

"little souya has a girlfriend?" chuckled draken

"and where is little souya and his-" pah-chin was then interrupted by a loud voice yelling 'souya!'

the entire group of delinquents looked up and saw angry, smileys little brother wiping ice cream on a pretty girl's nose and laughing about it, and the girl seconds later laughed too, angry leaned down to kiss the girl's cheek and then wiped the ice cream off her nose and took her hand to lead her away from the spot they where just in

everyone just stared ahead, with widened eyes, just like takemichi and chifuyu had been minutes ago

smiley was so shocked his eyes were open for a good couple before he recoiled back and shut his eyes

"how did my little brother get a girlfriend before me!?"
