Sometimes I still think back to how odd it was that in season 4 "Optigami" (the first mid-season finale episode, right?) they just randomly had Nathalie come back as Mayura and then never again.

Normally when you do that that's a sign that said character will come back in future because they officially undid her conventional exit from the narrative in the season 3 finale:

If that had been Nathalie's last appearance as Mayura I still would have been sad because of how underutilized Mayura was in the narrative, but it wouldn't feel like she stopped showing up at a weird and unsatisfying point in the story.

But because of "Optigami" that's now the case and I find that so weird. Why do that for no reason?

Everything up till Marinette and Adrien texting Alya and Nino that they were trapped in the elevator happens. Style queen is a menace and Optigami is on the prowl

-The only difference being that Optigami didnt see Nino when he went to hide. Perhaps a second of hesitation, but Nino just narrowly avoided its site.

-Unfortunately, optigami did spot Alya on the phone. Style queen was informed and before the kwami could warp her. Poof! She got glittered

-The kwami think things have gone from bad to worse, and try to call Marinette with their emergency call

-Shadowmoth creates Senti Alya, who calls out for Nino.

-Nino being relieved to hear her almost goes out of hiding, but realizes her phone. He had called her but she didnt respond... thats weird.

-He texts her to stop yelling

-Sentialya sees the text, but cant open the phone to respond.

-Nino realizes she hasnt stopped and still suspicious. Deciding to text adrien to see if he's okay

-Marinette gets a call from her burner phone. the kwami's say they lost contact. Marinette fears the worst.

-Adrien gets a text from Nino. "Nino thinks Alya got glittered"

-Marinette realizes that this just went from bad to worse.

-"Is Chat noir near the building?"

-Adrien heard her say that and felt the guilt build up.

He has no choice.

-She has no choice

Adrien decides that he needs to tell Marinette so he can transform and fight the akuma. And Reveals himself first. Promising he will apologize to Ladybug later

Marinette having already revealed herself to Alya and with no way of reaching chat noir decides to trust Adrien with the fact she is ladybug so she can act and fight the akuma

Both reveal themselves at the same time

They both decide to wait it out because revealing their identities will doom them

Remember the sentimonster, Optigama? I know you said you won't be including anything from Season 4 up until Mr. Pigeon 72, but Mayura created Optigama after the events of Miracle Queen to figure out Ladybug's true identity. I believe that would make a suspenseful plot point, don't you?

OK, that may be difficult since I forgot it was there for that long. I can imagine that this was considered by Nathalie, but it was put on hold due to Gabriel's plans with Norrisville. If you guys have any ideas for how Optigami could fit into the story, while I can't say I can incorporate it into what I have planned, I'll appreciate hearing your ideas.

Fastforward to the one-too-many hero recruited in Strike Back.... When technically Ladybug could have skipped "Adrien's" recruitment and gone to the past herself... It hurts :')

(just to be clear, this isn't salt on her decision. She was hit by Risk, "Adrien" wasn't. It was supposed to be her safest bet, because she trusts the real Adrien; as a bonus, it was supposed to make him feel better about himself after Félix's self-deprecating speech. It's not salt against Alya, either. Ladybee did need that Shield.)

One of problems with Alya's arc in S4 is that it border-line makes Marinette to look like Alya's incompetent sidekick to shill her

That is a fair assessment of how the Alya confidant plotline in s4 was handled, although I personally take this as an issue with its presentation in the show.

For example, had there been an extra episode between Gang of Secrets and Mr. Pigeon 72 which was a montage of Alya slowly being introduced to Guardian concepts to help out Mari or her and Mari goofing around trying to understand the Grimoire, her sudden knowledge and epiphany by the end of Mr. Pigeon 72 wouldn't appear as shilling for Alya, as we would've been built up to this idea of both Marinette and Alya working together to understand the secrets of the Grimoire.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case with how s4 handled her role as confidant. Instead, Alya only appears as LB's confidant when the plot demands of her to do so, thus she's portrayed as hypercompetent in her role. Had she been involved in every episode since Gang of Secrets, whether having major involvement or being a small distraction for Marinette to go transform, I feel like the shilling would be non-existent. Or at least it wouldn't be interpreted in that way, but rather as a natural route for her character to go through.

Wait. Rewatching Optigami one moment stood out to me and I wanna know If I got this right:

Shadowmoth just directly interacted with civilian Adrien through SentiAlec. Has Gabriel EVER acknowledged any civilians existence besides the ones he is directly focusing on (like Audrey here or speaking to the general, faceless crowd) when he was transformed?

Optigami actually highlighted this a solid bit more by never having Shadowmoth acknowledge the real Alec whatsoever. Alec was basically thin air to him the entire time they were in the same room.

So please do correct me if I’m wrong but isnt Adrien here the one and only non-target civilian person Hawkmoth/Shadowmoth/whatever EVER directly spoke to? Much less in a way that ackowledges the unfortunate situation the innocent civilian is being put in by association? It really seems out of the ordinary to me now. I cant remember any other incident even remotely like this, but maybe its just slipping my mind currently.

Does anyone remember any other situation where Gabriel transformed spoke to an innocent civilian? Or was Adrien really the only one til now who received that “honor” via SentiAlec?

You and @gameguy20100's post about Adrien being a hormonal teenager made me think of an aged up fic idea for Gorizilla. Like, come on, two teenagers stuck together? This is asking for something more to happen!

I'm still freakin disappointed I have never seen an aged-up smut fanfic based on elevator scene from Optigami. Like even Nino and Alya had dirty thoughts when they heard Adrien and Marinette are stuck in an elevator together, but not smut writers? I hope I'm wrong tho.
