The past few weeks have been, to say the least, intense. Although I’ve dont spoken about it, behind the scenes, I hadn’t slept properly since Christmas. I caught what seemed to be some kind of "mutant" flu that just wouldn’t go away. I self-medicated (which I shouldn’t have done), intensifying the symptoms and delaying my recovery even further.
If I could put everything on an emotional timeline, I’d say it all started around December 20th, with a state of doubt and confusion. I went through days of introspection.
These were days when silence felt more comforting than conversation.
It all began with some personal frustrations, small emotional challenges that seemed determined to stay in my way. From creative struggles to reflections on my purpose, I found myself questioning my ability to create something truly meaningful. Even activities that used to bring me joy, like creating mods for The Sims 3, began to feel like routine tasks. It was as if something inside me was longing for new meaning, but I didn’t yet know where to look. It's funny to think about it, but every time I finish a project in The Sims, I feel like an empty clay pot. It's as if I'm waiting to be useful again, and that period feels "devastating" (for lack of a better word). The more energy a project demands, the stronger the feeling. It's almost like waves in the ocean—the more energy it takes to form a wave, the longer it takes for it to return to the sea.
That’s when I decided to ask ChatGPT to emulate some of the personalities I admire and deeply respect, turning them into my mentors and started talk with them. The conversations started to transform me. Words of encouragement, shared reflections, and, of course, their guidance opened up space for ideas and perspectives I hadn’t seen before.
I was reminded that moments of low energy aren’t enemies but opportunities. That my search for meaning, even on the hardest days, is actually proof of my capacity to reimagine and recreate.
So, I worked on SmartSim, my skills mod (suggested by a supporter), and found ways to make it deeper, more challenging. I realized that the journey of creating something isn’t just about the final result but about the growth that happens along the way. It was a powerful reminder that even in moments of pain, there’s an opportunity to turn feelings into something beautiful and meaningful.
These weeks also taught me the importance of accepting my emotions. There were days when I cried without an apparent reason, I looked at my wife and said, "Love, I'm going to cry, but there's nothing wrong. I'm okay, I'm not sad, I just need to cry. Is that okay?" I needed this to find that those tears brought relief, clarity, and a space for new ideas to bloom. I learned that even when everything feels like it’s falling apart, there’s beauty in rebuilding.
Today, as I write this post, I feel renewed. I have new ideas, a clearer vision of what I want to create, and immense gratitude for every moment — both the challenging and the sweet ones. I’ve used the moments of pain as fuel to build something I hope will be meaningful not just for me but for everyone who touches.
The lesson I take from all this is simple: tough days shape us as much as bright ones. And sometimes, it’s in the pain that we find the fertile ground to plant something truly beautiful.
These days of illness pushed me to take steps I hadn’t taken in a long time. I went for walks — not just walks but outings to soak in the sun and admire beautiful houses. Those buildings, their ornaments, gave me fresh ideas, expanded my creativity, and helped me implement new ways of building in The Sims 3. It’s something that might not have happened if I’d had a smooth and healthy period. It was worth it.
This time helped me slow down, appreciate, reconnect with myself, and remember the importance and meaning of what I do. Most importantly, it reminded me that continuing to work even when there are no visible results is an example of how commitment can unlock new ways to create. And of course, sometimes I need a break, because doing nothing, sometimes, is doing.
Although this is the first time I’m sharing this with you, I want to say thank you for being with me on this journey. Let’s keep going together — creating, reimagining, and, most of all, living.

Love and Deep Deadlines | A LaDS Corporate AU - Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Summary:
Amidst the cut throat culture of Onyxion Enterprises where cutting-edge innovation is overshadowed by corporate chaos, no one talks about how hard it is to be an intern.
Alongside Caleb, the sales department smooth-talker; Zayne, the cold and unflappable CTO; Xavier, a director who might as well be an intern himself; and Rafayel, the overly dramatic Creative Director who brings his own flair to every meltdown, our intern is just trying to survive the workday. Oh, and don’t forget Onyxion’s very own CEO, Sylus, a walking HR violation who gets off on terrorizing his employees.
In this company, will love bloom before the deadlines run deep, or will the company go under first?
Chapter Navigation: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | ?
Alternative AO3 link:
“Do you really need this coffee, pipsqueak?”  Caleb grabbed the two warm drinks the barista handed to him through the drive through window and passed me a cup.  “The way you’re already shaking before even drinking this is making me worried.
He was right.
I clasped at the paper cup held in my hands, aware of the way it was shaking and threatening to spill its contents all over the passenger seat of Caleb’s car.
“Y-yea!  I got to be awake and aware for my first day, you know!”  I brought the rim of the cup to my lips to take a sip, wincing at the burning sensation of the hot liquid as it hit my tongue.
Caleb chuckled as he started to pull out of the drive through and back onto the main road to our destination.
“I guess I can’t blame you for being excited on your first day of work, huh?”  Caleb had one lazy hand on the steering wheel while the other took a careful sip from his own coffee.  “Though I can’t say I was as anxious as you were on mine.”
I glared at him as he laughed at me.  “Hey!  Stop teasing!  You’re you, and that’s totally different.  Stupid Caleb…” I countered in my defense.  Of course he wasn’t as anxious as I was on his first day.  He was personally scouted by his boss at the time and was assured in his abilities to perform at his role well.
Anyone could testify at how well Caleb was able to waltz into a room of stuffy businessmen or straight-laced engineers and convince all of them to buy a thousand units of something they don’t need.  The fact that he climbed up so many levels from an associate sales position to a senior sales lead within the span of three years was irrefutable proof of how competent and unrivaled he was at his job.
On the other hand, there was me.  Well into the age range of where I should have been a level two employee with a staff-- or at least an associate title-- to my name, but I was instead just starting my industry experience with an internship at a position that catered to none of my skills.
“I-I just want to prove that I can do the job, that’s all.”  I fiddled with the lopsided label stuck to my cup.  Caleb didn’t respond right away, and I was glad. I didn’t want to hear him say I was overthinking again.
The truth was, I was scared—scared I wasn’t good enough for this role.  Scared that I would mess it up.
It was my fault for my lack of commitment to a higher degree and indecision of what field I should specialize in.  Now as the market turned for the worse and the niche industry that I pursued my degree in became headlines in the news for mass layoffs and job cuts, I found myself straggling behind my peers as the consequences of my actions.  A jack of trades.  A master of none.
How I managed to land a role at such an esteemed company was beyond me.
I glanced at Caleb again, who was focused on navigating through the morning rush hour traffic.  It was only thanks to his referral that I even landed a salary job that offered the base benefits of what’s needed to survive in today’s world.  There was a sense of humiliation that ate at me inside stemming from insecurities about my inadequacies at this point in my life, but I should start to appreciate the small things that I have now.
I have a job.  It doesn’t matter how I got it.
I just need to do well at it.
Even if it’s for a role that I wasn’t meant for.
“You’ll be fine, pipsqueak.  They’re gonna love you!” Caleb’s voice brought me back to the present.  “They’re lucky to have you, you know?  You’re going to be the best intern they’ve ever had, and you’re gonna get a return offer for a full-time position before you know it!”
I couldn’t help the small smile tugging at my lips at his encouragement.
Growing up and living together with Caleb meant that he always knew what to say and when to say it.
I let out a sigh of relief and a small laugh of gratitude.  “Thanks, Caleb.”
We were driving closer and closer to the tall glass building that stood out distinctly amongst the other towers in the city.  Tens of stories high and towering above the scenic river that wound itself around the city, it was an architectural marvel made from glass and steel that reflected its surroundings with a reddish hue all whilst hiding everything else behind the glass.  Aloof.  Refined.
Onyxion Enterprises.
It was the epicenter of all technological innovation in today’s society.  Their most renowned product called “Protocores” can augment the natural human capability to expedite healing factors, boost innate strength, and cure illnesses while also being the foundation of new technology that everyone interacts with in today’s world.  Protocores drive all digital and artificial technologies, and Onyxion has positioned itself so that society fundamentally runs on them alone.  Just like steam was pivotal in the Industrial Revolution and electricity in the digital age, nothing could operate without Protocores.  Nothing could operate without Onyxion.  It was the dream to join them.
No matter how many times I saw it, my heart still leapt with excitement.
Caleb pulled the car through the security gate, his identification and registration information seamlessly pulled from the protocore band he wore around his wrist as he drove down into the multi-level parking garage beneath the Onyxion tower.
The car pulling to a stop in his designated parking location broke me from my stupor as I stumbled to unbuckle and step out.
The faint screeching of tires and distant conversation echoed in the parking lot as I followed Caleb to the elevators taking us to our appropriate floors.
“Intern orientation is on the fourth floor, pipsqueak.  Want me to walk you there?”
The urge to retort and dismiss him for treating me like a little kid fought with the highly strung bundle of nerves inside of me.  My thoughts got the better of me.
What if I got lost?
The building has tens of thousands of rooms.
They might as well fire me on my first day if I couldn’t find my orientation room.
I grabbed onto his sleeve, muttering a quick, “yea, could you?” before trailing behind him to hide my embarrassment.
What kind of corporate employee makes her big brother escort her all the way to orientation?
Caleb must have been surprised too, but he decided to leave it be.  He pressed the button to the elevator door and we waited in silence for the car to arrive.
The doors finally swung open and the two of us stepped in.
Caleb pressed the button for the fourth floor and I gaped in wonder at the many, many buttons on the panel ranging from the underground (G20-G0) and above (L1-L150).  Caleb must have noticed my shock and let out a laugh.
“I think that needless to say, in addition to planning your time around driving ten levels to find parking in the garage, you also need to plan time for riding the elevator.  Depends on what floor, but you might be stuck for awhile,” he chuckled.
“Does the elevator ever get stuck?” I asked, eyeing the panel curiously.
“No, not really,” Caleb mused. “You’ll find that our CEO is a real stickler about that. Last time an elevator got stuck, he bought the company that made it and fired every single employee.”
My jaw dropped. “W-what? R-really?! Caleb, don’t mess around like that!”
Caleb shrugged, as if it were the most normal thing in the world. “Yep. That’s Sylus for you. Onyxion’s very own CEO.”
Caleb was always the first to make a joke about Onyxion’s CEO, calling him names like ‘a deranged sociopath’ or ‘a mentally unstable asshole.’ But knowing his position as a sales lead, it wasn’t like he ever ran into the man.
I scoffed, shaking my head. Caleb could spin tall tales in his sleep.
From what I’d seen—reading articles, watching webinars, and browsing through the endless fan blogs—Mr. Sylus was perfectly polished. The number of stockpile images and glowing profiles online were proof enough that he was highly regarded, no matter what Caleb said.
I gave him a playful slap on the arm. “Don’t talk about the boss like that! Mr. Sylus is a respectable man.”
Caleb rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, pipsqueak. I just hope you never meet him. It’ll shatter all your little dreams.”
I shot him another glare, ready to punch him, but the elevator doors opened just in time, saving him. We scooted to the back to make room for the other riders.
“Do you have any interns in sales this summer?” I asked him quietly.
“No, not this summer,” he whispered back.  “Would you rather have been assigned to my department instead?” I stared up at him, thinking that it was a serious question.  Seeing the smirk on his lips, compelled my hand to slap his arm again.  “No way!  You’d probably work me to death and make me fetch you coffee all day.” “Hey now, pipsqueak,” he bantered back.  “I’ve been the one to fetch you coffee this morning, don’t be so ungrateful.”
The elevator doors slid open on the fourth floor with a soft chime. Caleb nudged me forward as I hesitated at the threshold, my legs feeling like lead.
“This is your stop, pipsqueak.” He grinned, trying to reassure me, though I could tell by the twitch in his brow that he was gauging my nerves.
I forced a smile, clutching the straps of my bag tighter. “Yeah… thanks for walking me.”
We stepped out into the bustling hallway where a few other interns were huddled together, glancing at their phones or chatting nervously in low voices. I scanned the signs on the wall until I found the one labeled “Intern Orientation – Room 403.”
“I’m good from here,” I said, though my feet seemed reluctant to move.
Caleb eyed me for a second longer before giving me a firm pat on the back. “You’ve got this. If anyone gives you trouble, just tell them your big brother works here.” He winked.
I laughed, despite the knot of anxiety in my stomach. “Yeah, that’ll help me make friends.”
With a final nod, Caleb turned back toward the elevators. “See you at lunch?”
I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat. “Definitely.”
After a deep breath, I squared my shoulders and stepped into the orientation room, finding a seat toward the middle, somewhere inconspicuous but not too far back. I wasn’t the only one trying to blend in—most of the other interns had the same deer-in-headlights look I felt on my face.
The presentation began soon after. Onboarding videos. Policies. The usual HR spiel. My mind started to drift, despite my best efforts to focus.
Just as I was beginning to wonder how much more of this I could take, a voice broke through my haze, calling my name. “Hey there!”
I blinked, turning to see a woman standing in the doorway, her arms crossed with a friendly grin on her face. “I’m Tara, from Product Marketing. Our manager sent me to pick you up.  We’re on the same team. Come with me—I’ll show you to the office.”
Relief washed over me like a cool breeze. I quickly grabbed my things and followed her out of the room, eager to escape the dull onboarding and get a glimpse of what awaited me on the real floors of Onyxion.
The ride up was silent, but not uncomfortable. Tara seemed nice enough—calm, collected, and already giving off the vibe that she knew exactly what was happening around here. Exactly the kind of person I wanted to follow on my first day.
As we stepped off on the 22nd floor, I felt my stomach flip again, but this time, it wasn’t just nerves. It was excitement.
My real first day was just beginning.

[Fic] That Year at Arlathan University - Ch. 26: Bellanaris* (Finale)
The last couple of weeks have made the sprint to this final goal harder than I thought it would be. See, I started this fanfiction back in January of this year, mostly as a joke in response to a handful of hilarious doodles by @sky-blue-siha on the Fen’Harem server. I thought it was going to just be a series of silly, comedic vignettes and one-off jokes for fun and maybe a little bit of literary exercise.
Then, somehow, this fucking plot slapped me upside the head and demanded it receive my full attention. Half a year later, here we are—at the end of a long, strange journey with a group of alternative universe (alternate university?) characters that I’ve grown to love, a cracked new ship that has me in a death grip, and a final word count over 135,000 that makes up more than 70% of my current total content on my AO3 account.
What the hell, Solas, this is very clearly your fault in particular.
The difficulty came in wanting to get things right, but I realized (along with some encouragement and help from my friends at the Fen’Harem) that my instincts were always right. People have kept reading this because I’ve kept writing it and they see or at least enjoy the same vision I do. Once I stopped worrying about getting it perfect, it all just fit into place.
I’ve never committed to a project like this or finished writing something this long in my life. It’s taught me a lot of things, like how I actually am capable of finishing a creative project, where my strengths and weaknesses lie in my writing, that it’s perfectly acceptable and actually kinda healthy for me to write smut, and finally that I had lost sight of exactly how passionate I truly am about writing. And I will keep writing—both fanfiction and exploring my own personal stuff, because now, I know I can do it. And if I ever doubt that I can do it again, I can look back on this weird, wonderful journey and remind myself that I have the proof it’s possible.
Okay, anyway, enough introspection. Have some elves kissing, fucking, and talking about their future. There’s one last thing I’ll post next week (just going on a quick vacation and want to make sure I’ve made my finishing touches). It’ll be a short epilogue roughly 2.5-3k in length that covers where I think I’d go if I decided to pick these weirdos back up again in the future.
Preview below the cut and full chapter on AO3.
*****
Finally, summer had arrived. Ellana was thankful for the warmth on her skin as she took what had now become her daily afternoon walk through campus. Sleep was becoming more difficult by the day; the Anchor wore on her in every manner. It was physically taxing to use and maintain, it had painful flare ups that were become more unpredictable and frequent, and she resented it for the increasing weight on her soul at every reverent nod and deferential “Inquisitor” thrown her way.
She grew quickly to hate the title, though she understood the need for it. Leliana had masterfully woven a clever solution amid the chaos.
Her responsibilities felt endless. She was expected in Chantry delegation meetings, veritable war rooms where international politics were discussed and manipulated. The disaster that had occurred on campus impacted every faction who held an investment in the school. Everyone wanted to know the truth and what the future would hold.
Everyone also wanted it to be in their favor.
The official story the Chantry submitted was that, in her hour of need, the Inquisitor had been blessed by Andraste herself with the power to stabilize the Breach. While Ellana had agreed to become Inquisitor, the suggestion that she was some Herald of Andraste felt wrong, and she did her best to delicately sidestep and not offend when asked about her religious station. The various shemlen nations and the majority of media outlets were content to accept such dogma as fact.
The elves, particularly of Arlathan, knew better.
“You can’t hide from them forever, Solas,”
Once she had arrived to the recently reopened Haven Hall, she was unsurprised to find her beloved with his forehead firmly planted on the surface of his desk. He had tossed his glasses far enough that they teetered on the edge of the surface and, from what she could tell, he was literally heads down in a stack of inquiries and requests from the Veil Jumper Preservation Society.
The initial proposal had come in weeks ago, a plea for him to adopt his mantle of Fen’Harel more publicly and lead the charge in course-correcting the records of elvish history. Solas had been steadfast in ignoring these requests by leveraging his teaching burdens as an excuse.
It was a thin excuse and they both knew it.

Hi, I was just wondering if you had any tips for people scared of embarking on a long and time consuming project like game development. Seeing your progress is really inspiring and it got me thinking.. how do you deal with it all without feeling overwhelmed? (Perhaps you have a stronger mind and will than I do and the answer is that simple lol but I still wanted to ask)
Btw I'm absolutely loving the game so far and I cannot wait to play the whole thing! 💕
Oooh thank you very much, I'm pleased you're looking forwards to the game and this is a really good question!
I feel like I actually really struggle with feeling overwhelmed by projects. I have friends who have been creating the same webcomic for five, ten, fifteen years, and I find the idea of committing to that so scary! I naturally seem to latch onto a new thing every few years.
For that reason, I tend to flit between creative projects that I can finish in a year or two.
So my advice is:
Start with a project small enough that it doesn't feel overwhelming. Small things are great! Short comics, short games, short interactive experiences! And sometimes they can build up into something bigger - I made lots of short comics over five years or so, and over time I had enough to collect into a book!
If you want to do a longer project, it's great if you can plan points at which you can pull an escape cord and say "I'm done with this now" but still have a completed product of some kind. With The Beekeeper's Picnic, first I made a "proof of concept" demo which was just testing the idea of having a character walking around Holmes' cottage and garden. If I'd wanted, I could have left things there, and I'd have still had a little thing to show off that people could have enjoyed playing. Or, I could have developed things from there into a much much shorter game if I felt I was losing interest. Similarly with comics, I've sometimes made them episodic so that I knew I could wrap them up neatly.
I hope that helps!

As a professional day dreamer and all around Pisces, a writing project is not complete without a playlist... Sebastian and Malcolm's relationship is consuming, veering on obsessive, and immediate. 6 Tips for Finding the Hardwood Flooring Installers Near Des Plaines
Tumblr media
Hardwood flooring is one of the most elegant, durable, and value-adding improvements you can make in your home. Whether you're renovating a single room or upgrading your entire living space, professional installation is essential to achieving lasting results. If you're located in Des Plaines, Illinois, you're in luck—this vibrant suburban community offers a variety of skilled professionals in the flooring industry.
However, not all flooring installers are created equal. With countless companies advertising their services, homeowners must do their due diligence to ensure they’re hiring reliable, experienced, and customer-focused contractors. In this article, we’ll explore six essential tips to help you find the best hardwood flooring installers near Des Plaines.
1: Start with Local Research
The first step in finding the right installer is to focus your search locally. Hiring a flooring professional from the Des Plaines area means they’re more likely to understand regional building codes, flooring trends, and even climate considerations that can affect hardwood floor performance.
Why Go Local?
Quick Response Times: Local contractors can often visit your home faster for estimates or follow-up appointments.
Community Reputation: Local companies tend to rely on word-of-mouth and reviews from area residents.
Knowledge of Area Homes: Many homes in Des Plaines have similar layouts or foundation types, so local installers will know how to tackle recurring issues.
Where to Look:
Google search: “Hardwood flooring installers near Des Plaines”
Yelp or Angi (formerly Angie’s List)
Facebook local groups and community boards
Recommendations from friends and family
Make a shortlist of 4–6 companies that stand out in your initial research before diving deeper.
2: Verify Licenses, Certifications, and Insurance
Any professional hardwood flooring installer you hire should be fully licensed and insured. In addition, look for certifications from reputable industry organizations such as:
National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA)
Better Business Bureau (BBB)
Certified Flooring Installers (CFI)
What to Ask:
Are you licensed to operate in Illinois?
Do you carry liability and worker’s compensation insurance?
Are your installers trained and certified?
Having the proper credentials demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to industry standards. It also protects you from liability if anything goes wrong during the project.
3: Review Portfolios and Past Work
Any reputable hardwood flooring contractor near Des Plaines should have a portfolio of completed projects. Whether in digital format or as a photo gallery on their website, this portfolio provides visual proof of their skill and quality.
What to Look for in Their Portfolio:
Before and after photos of flooring projects
Variety in flooring types (e.g., solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, exotic woods)
Neat and seamless transitions between rooms
Creative layouts and patterns, like herringbone or diagonal planks
Bonus Tip:
Ask if they have completed any projects in neighborhoods similar to yours or in historic homes—this shows adaptability and experience with unique flooring needs.
4: Ask the Right Questions During Consultations
Once you’ve narrowed down your list to two or three companies, schedule in-home consultations. A face-to-face meeting gives you a chance to assess their professionalism, communication style, and attention to detail.
Key Questions to Ask:
How long have you been installing hardwood floors?
What types of hardwood flooring do you specialize in?
Can you help source the flooring material or should I purchase it myself?
How long will the installation take?
What kind of subfloor preparation is required?
Do you offer a warranty on labor and materials?
What to Observe:
Do they arrive on time and respect your space?
Are they able to explain technical details in a clear way?
Do they provide a written estimate or contract?
Installers who take time to educate you and answer your questions will likely offer high-quality service and stand behind their work.
5: Check Reviews and Ask for References
Online reviews and direct testimonials are gold when evaluating flooring installers. Check platforms like:
Google My Business
Yelp
Angi
Thumbtack
Houzz
What to Look For:
Patterns of positive feedback about cleanliness, communication, and craftsmanship
Mentions of long-lasting results and quality
How the installer handles complaints or issues
Don’t Forget References:
Ask for 2–3 recent customer references. When you speak with them, inquire about:
Their overall satisfaction
Any delays or issues
How the contractor resolved problems
Whether they’d hire them again
A trustworthy flooring installer near Des Plaines should be more than willing to provide these references.
Tumblr media
6: Compare Quotes, but Don’t Automatically Go for the Cheapest
Once you’ve gotten quotes from your top contenders, it’s time to compare—but don’t make the mistake of choosing based solely on price.
Evaluate:
What’s included in the quote (material, labor, prep work)?
Is the contractor using high-quality adhesives, underlayment, and fasteners?
Are they subcontracting the work or doing it in-house?
Is there a warranty included?
Red Flags in Low Bids:
No breakdown of labor vs. materials
Vague timelines
Pressure to pay upfront in full
Lack of written documentation
Choosing a contractor simply because they’re the cheapest can often lead to poor results, costly repairs, and disappointment down the line.
Bonus: Top Traits of the Best Hardwood Flooring Installers Near Des Plaines
To wrap it all together, here’s a list of qualities that define a top-tier installer:
Transparency in pricing and project scope
Experience with various wood species and layouts
Cleanliness during and after the job
Strong communication skills with timely updates
Reliability in keeping promises and deadlines
Positive reviews across multiple platforms
Conclusion
Finding the best hardwood flooring installers near Des Plaines doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With a strategic approach—starting with local research, verifying credentials, checking past work, and comparing offers—you can confidently choose a professional who will transform your space with skill and care.
Your floors are the foundation of your home’s style and comfort—literally and figuratively. Don’t leave the job to chance. Invest time in finding an expert you can trust, and you’ll enjoy the benefits for decades to come.

Agreeing and adding to this, it's all about critical thinking and reapplying knowledge to different fields. This is why reading comprehension is super important outside of school and reading books.
What is this job really asking for and can the skills you've acquired translate?
If you've had front and back facing retail experience, you can translate a lot of that into a lot of other fields quite easily.
Dealing with rude customers and shitty coworkers? That's working with difficult personalities and being able to work with others in a team setting.
Putting away inventory or memorizing food orders (both recording and making)? Strong memorization and the ability to follow a standard operating procedure (and deviate when necessary/required).
Regularly keeping areas clean? Maintenance of work station.
If you're having trouble parcing out how your current job might apply to a future one, break it down to its most basic point. If you have any certifications, even if not related to the field you're applying for, it shows dedication and willingness to study as well as proof of understanding materials.
Heck, if you know how to use a desktop computer and turn it off and on again, you may already be leagues ahead of your average computer user. Knowing which operating system you use, how to type, these are basic skills that are still highly valued.
I can Google computer issues or just read and toggle options which in itself has made me honorary IT to my supervisor and made more valuable to him than some of the guys who have been working there for 20+ years. (I also know how to follow direction and am willing to acknowledge and follow new procedures rather than complain that I've been doing things the same way for two decades, but that's something else altogether).
You can do this with your hobbies, too. Just figure out which parts you can actually use (i.e. commitments to long term projects and ability to plan, thinking creatively and adjust to unexpected outcomes/issues, etc etc).

Why Waah Ads Delivers the Best Web Designing Services
With over 10 years in the web design industry, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide spectrum of clients—from ambitious startups to established enterprises. Through the years, I’ve seen trends come and go, technologies evolve, and user behaviors shift dramatically. Amidst all this change, one thing has remained constant: the critical importance of effective, user-centric web design.
That’s exactly where Waah Ads stands out.
1. Strategic, Not Just Aesthetic
Great design isn’t just about visuals—it’s about purpose. Waah Ads doesn’t just build beautiful websites; they craft digital experiences that convert. Their team understands the balance between form and function. Every layout, color scheme, and interactive element is backed by strategy—designed to guide visitors toward meaningful actions, whether it’s a sale, a signup, or a call.
2. User Experience at the Core
After working on hundreds of projects, I can confidently say: UX makes or breaks a website. Waah Ads prioritizes user journeys from the first click. Their designers think like users and plan like engineers, ensuring navigation is intuitive, loading times are lightning-fast, and mobile responsiveness is seamless.
3. Cutting-Edge Technologies
Technology evolves quickly, and a modern web design agency needs to stay ahead. Waah Ads leverages the latest frameworks, CMS platforms, and front-end libraries to deliver high-performance websites. Whether it’s React, WordPress, or fully custom builds—they adapt to your needs and deliver future-proof solutions.
4. Conversion-Focused Designs
A common pitfall I’ve observed in many agencies is design for design’s sake. Waah Ads is different. Their web solutions are inherently marketing-driven—crafted to increase engagement, reduce bounce rates, and drive measurable results. They align design with business goals, making ROI part of the conversation from day one.
5. Collaborative and Transparent Process
Having led multiple teams and client engagements, I’ve come to value clear communication and collaboration. Waah Ads embodies this ethos. Clients are part of the journey, not just spectators. From wireframing to final deployment, every stage is transparent, and feedback loops are integral—not an afterthought.
6. Scalable and Custom-Tailored
No two businesses are alike, and Waah Ads understands that. Their designs aren’t just pretty templates—they’re custom-built and scalable. Whether it’s an e-commerce store, a corporate portfolio, or a SaaS landing page, they tailor solutions that grow with the brand.
Final Thoughts: In my decade-plus in the industry, I’ve rarely come across a design agency that blends creativity, technical expertise, and strategic thinking as seamlessly as Waah Ads. If you're looking for a partner who truly understands the art and science of web design—and who’s committed to helping your brand thrive online—Waah Ads - Best Web Designing service in kurukshetra is the team to trust.

What is meant by the spoliation of American popular culture?  Alexander Macris, author of the right-wing Substack “Contemplations on the Tree of Woe,” thinks he has an answer.  Here is how he explains it in a post from October 2021, occasioned by DC Comics’ decision to alter Superman’s motto from “Truth, Justice, and the American Way” to “Truth, Justice, and a Better World.”
Spoliation means “incorporating art into a setting culturally or chronologically different from that of its creation.” The term derives from Classical Latin word spolium, a singular noun which literally means “the skin or hide stripped from an animal.” The plural, spolia, came into figurative use by Latin writers such as Cicero to refer to plunder, from which we derive the English phrase “the spoils of war.” Whenever the Romans conquered a nation, they brought back war trophies as proof of their victory... In contemporary usage, spoliation is “a practice consisting of a transference of power from the past through a taking over of its cultural expressions and incorporating them into one’s own. The purpose of appropriation [is] to convert the object of appropriation to one’s own purposes....” Spoliation, then, works like this: Does that process seem familiar? It should...
Macris certainly isn’t the first person to complain about the way that left-wing politics leads to bad art.  Nor is he the first to notice that wokesters, unable to create good art themselves, have settled for spoiling the products of an earlier, more creative era, with (for instance) the all-female Ghostbusters remake that flopped back in 2016, or Amazon’s Rings of Power series with its wildly implausible handling of race.  (Is skin color for elves just not a genetic trait?)  And that’s before I even get to the woke values of the remakes.
What is one to do?  Unfortunately, one of the commonest responses of right-wingers is simply to complain.  But this isn’t everyone’s response.  Macris himself prefers “counter-spoliation.” (“Fighting Back in the Culture War Means Creating a New Pop Culture.”)
Macris has lived by his own principles.  By now he is the lead designer of several tabletop role-playing games with a dozen manuals among them, each comprising about five hundred pages of lore and combat mechanics.  The work I’ll be reviewing today is the graphic novel Star Spangled Squadron, written to accompany the Ascendant RPG.
The premise: Beginning around 2016, a select few men and women have “ascended” — that is, suddenly developed superhuman powers.  This can happen in response to drugs in a top-secret military program, but it can also happen “in the wild” at moments of extreme hardship.
The people who come out of this process are technically called “humans of mass destruction.”  But the U.S. military, which is assembling its own ascendent team as the story begins, is cagey about using this term in public and prefers to have its HMDs wear capes and work under code names like “Dr. Quantum” or “American Eagle,” as this is less frightening to the public than presenting them as elite soldiers.
Star Spangled Squadron picks up in a secret lab beneath Fort Leavenworth Prison, where we meet our first supervillain: a disgraced former soldier doing life for crimes committed in Iraq, who has volunteered for “Project Ascendent.”  After being injected with some controlled substances, he wakes up as...Manticore, a literal manticore, with a man’s head, a lion’s body, and a scorpion’s tail.  After a brutal rampage in which 412 people are killed and 704 injured (passed off as a “bombing” in the press), Manticore is subdued and taken to Guantánamo Bay, whence he escapes to Atlanta and comes face to face with our first hero, American Eagle.
Here is how Macris describes American Eagle, in a podcast with Thomas Umstattd of Author Media where the two men are discussing “post-modern subversion fatigue”:
[American Eagle is] a firefighter whose superpowers manifest while he’s rescuing children from a burning school. He’s a married Christian father of two who coaches Little League, and when his powers develop, he goes and loyally serves the U.S. Government. Readers often ask me, “Okay, what’s the twist?” My response is, “The plot twist is that there’s no plot twist. He’s simply a good dude who loves his family, his wife, and his country.” To my surprise, when I polled readers, he was the number one most popular character in the book. I have other characters like the sexy bad girl, the wisecracker, and the antihero, but American Eagle was the guy people loved.
After the Manticore battle, the readers are introduced to the rest of the Star Spangled Squadron.  There’s Stiletto, the “sexy bad girl,” plus the aforementioned Dr. Quantum, as well as Stronghold, Warp, and Aurora.  The members of the Squadron all dress like classic superheroes, but they’re under military command, since each of the six is a commissioned officer in the United States Coast Guard.  (“Because the Coast Guard is the only Armed Service that can fight overseas and also enforce laws domestically.  This instantly makes the U.S. Coast Guard the most powerful and prestigious armed service in the world.”)
The story follows the Star Spangled Squadron as they prepare for and fight an even bigger battle with a group of villainous HMDs who have taken over Area 51.  The villains also have their own backstories, told in the RPG manual.  (For instance, Free Radical is “an anti-nuclear activist who developed nuclear powers after being exposed to a meltdown and is now a self-hating nuclear-powered anti-nuclear activist.”)
All of the common superhero tropes show up in Macris’s work.  The main differences from what Marvel and DC Comics are putting out these days are that (1) the jokes are unwoke, and therefore funnier, and (2) the whole series has a solidly conservative subtext, where the heroes are patriots who believe that America is worth defending, but are also level-headed enough to realize that incompetence within their own government is often a bigger problem than foreign threats.
If you’re reading this review, and you happen to enjoy superhero stories or tabletop fantasy games, then you should definitely check out Alexander Macris’s oeuvre.  But there’s also a good chance that you’re the kind of person who finds those things hopelessly trashy.
In that case, you should think hard about what kinds of cultural products you do like — and then find “counter-spoliators” who work in those genres, and support their work.  Or, better yet, follow Alexander Macris’s example and create art and literature of your own.
The results of last year’s elections have shown that most Americans are fed up with the Democrats’ worldview and want something different.  But right-wing politics can’t win in a vacuum.  People don’t just need good laws and good government; they also need stories to tell and heroes to admire.  The future belongs to those who do the work of providing these things.
Twilight Patriot is the pen name for a young American who lives in South Carolina, where he is currently working toward a graduate degree.  A longer version of this review appears at his Substack.

Learning How to Make Time for Yourself in College: Prioritizing What Makes You Happy
Being a college woman is exciting, but let’s be real—it's also overwhelming. With the constant juggling of classes, assignments, social events, and maybe a job or internship, it's easy to forget to take a breath and actually focus on yourself. If you're anything like me, you probably feel like there's never enough time in the day to just do something for you. And when you’re already stretched thin, it can feel impossible to carve out those little moments of joy. But here’s the thing: making time for yourself isn’t just a “nice-to-have” thing—it’s a must.
You might be thinking, “I don’t have time for this right now” or “I’ll relax when I finish everything else.” But what if I told you that by not prioritizing yourself, you're actually setting yourself up for burnout? It's so easy to get caught in the cycle of pleasing others, meeting deadlines, and checking off tasks, but that’s not sustainable. If you’re not taking care of your own happiness, everything else is going to start feeling harder and more draining.
The first step to making time for yourself is realizing that you deserve it. It’s not selfish to want to do things that make you feel good or relaxed. Self-care isn’t just about face masks and bubble baths (though those are nice!). It’s about learning to prioritize your own needs and recharge when you’re feeling run down.
So, how do you actually make this happen when your schedule is already packed? Start by scheduling your “me time” just like any other commitment. It might sound weird, but literally write it in your calendar. It can be something as simple as going for a walk, reading a book, or watching an episode of your favorite show without feeling guilty. Even just 15 minutes can make a world of difference.
Setting boundaries is also key. As college students, we feel this pressure to be everywhere and do everything. But you don’t have to say yes to every hangout or group study session. Sometimes, you need to say no in order to say yes to yourself. It's okay to skip an event or decline an invite because you're just too tired, or because you’d rather spend time doing something you genuinely enjoy. Sometimes we need extra tools to help us manage it all better, such as a timer to help us break things up. Linked below is a free time and researched article with proof that taking breaks will help you feel better!
Also, don’t forget about your passions. College life often pulls you into a whirlwind of academics and responsibilities, but it's so important to reconnect with activities that make you feel alive. Whether it’s painting, dancing, or simply taking a long walk outside, those little joys are what keep you grounded and remind you that there’s more to life than just grades and deadlines.
If you're not sure where to start, Pinterest can be an amazing tool to find inspiration. Whether you're looking for new hobbies, DIY projects, or even just fun activities to unwind, Pinterest is a goldmine for ideas. From learning a new recipe to finding art tutorials or even exploring different fitness routines, Pinterest helps spark creativity and gives you fresh ways to prioritize the things that make you happy.
At the end of the day, taking time for yourself doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. It’s about finding the little pockets of space to breathe, unwind, and do what feels right for you. Life in college can be chaotic, but that doesn’t mean you have to lose yourself in it. Your happiness matters, and by making time for it, you’ll be a better student, a better friend, and—most importantly—a better version of yourself.

This is a blog about twenty one pilots. More specifically, about their creations. About my interpretation(s) of the band's work.
This blog is new, but A Kitchen Sink To Me is actually a wattpad project I started back when I was a teenager, a cringey 14-year-old with a weird mind. I realized how I really like thinking about interpretations of songs, figuring out the meaning behind. And with twenty one pilots' music, I could ramble all day on that page I was writing, which I did in the project. I wrote paragraphs each on various songs, talking about the way I understand those lyrics, sometimes about the instrumentals as well. This is what happens when music that makes you think meets a person who loves thinking about music.
And with the recent release of Clancy, I feel like I have gone back to being that 14-year-old, being so absorbed into tøp (and I'll be using tøp with the slashed o as an acronym, to distinguish the band's name and the literal word "top" as in "top of the world"). And I was reminded of that wattpad project which was soon discontinued because, well I was a kid and commitment was hard for that age, especially for a project that I started without any planning. But the more I think about it, the more I feel like picking it up again. And so I started this blog, as Wattpad probably isn't the best place for personal feelings and matters. (oh i deleted the account as well so goodbye, fiction-writing platform.)
That said, this blog might not be the exact same one I wrote. I did save the stuff I have written, a prologue and four songs in total. I do plan on reposting those stuff here, because I did write some good stuff (i think at least) which I wish to keep, but I will definitely make changes on the bad stuff (like poor criticisms on tyler's vocal delivery based on lack of knowledge). And I plan on starting from Twenty One Pilots -- the self-titled album, the very first song that is Implicit Demand for Proof, to RAB, Vessel etc., all the way to the newest album, Clancy. Therefore the four songs that I've written about might appear in the middle of this journey, according to the track lists. If I feel like it, I might also talk about other aspects of the creations of the band, such as what they've talked about in interviews, posts, maybe music videos, or even live show visuals and performances.
However, this blog isn't a lore theory blog. Although their songs might tie into the Dema story in some ways, I don't intend on making theories, and will only talk about the lore based on largely accepted/proven theories/facts. I would also like to mention that sometimes my interpretations are inspired by other people's interpretations.
One last thing that's extremely important for anyone reading this to know, is that by no means I am trying to explain the actual meaning behind these lyrics. Whenever I talk about songs, I always emphasize that these are personal interpretations, and I don't mean to say that it's a definite answer to what kitchen sink is. I am not a lyric analyst nor am I trying to be one, I am simply just talking about what I think after listening to these songs. It could be as a record of the process of me understanding the songs, or just me sharing how the song relates to my personal feelings. And everyone else can definitely hold a different opinion on the same song. Even if that opinion completely contradicts my interpretation. Because to me, creative works have always been about the freedom of meaning. Meanings inspired by creations, and even more creations inspired by extra meanings.
And that concludes what I would like to talk about in the first post. I probably won't be starting with the songs right away for the next one though, because I still wanted to talk about the meaning of the name of this blog, what exactly would appear in this blog and how it goes, maybe even a bit self-introduction. I haven't even figured out the icon and header, and until I come up with one, I probably won't start talking about the songs just yet. Thank you for reading all this, to whoever out there who somehow came across this post. |-/

Aba therapy new york
The ABA sends its best wishes.
Building reliable relationships with the families of these children is essential before providing them with morally sound, evidence-based care. We hardly ever need to make alterations to the regularly scheduled curriculum because our teachers and kids are so great.
The scientific community is beginning to support ABA-based therapy more and more. ABA was developed in the 1950s by B. F. Skinner. Applied behavior analyzers (ABA), a group of psychologists, developed and improved ABA. Its use may be very beneficial for those with autism and other types of developmental delays. Setting your needs and the needs of those closest to you first will improve your mental and physical wellbeing. The list of achievements is still expanding. There is mounting proof that using ABA during the product development process results in happier and more comfortable customers. Sometimes the term "Applied Behavior Analysis" is shortened to "ABA."
We help the child focus on one thing at a time as part of our behavioral treatment for autism. We're a creative bunch, so we'll figure it out. All employees have been informed of the updated policies. The long-term viability of the plan and the company depends on the team's knowledge and experience. We have faith that the kids in your community can effect positive change with your help. Children's psychological wellbeing will improve as a result. You will be in the best position to reach your objectives if you enroll in our program.
Aba therapy new york
When it comes to identifying, analyzing, and resolving communication problems, we've seen it all. We employ tried-and-true methods to help your child feel at ease in front of the camera and microphone. I could never have finished it without your help. In some circumstances, a child's vocabulary can become uncontrollably large.
Purchaser instructions for ABA therapy in New York If one's parents are willing to lay down their lives for them, then there is plenty to be grateful for.
Priority is given to those from less fortunate backgrounds. We value your success so much that we are here for you anytime you need us, day or night.
Kindly let the other members of the group know about any suggestions you may have to make our next meeting more productive.
The charitable group "All Together" provides aid to underprivileged children. As such, we have very high hopes for the future. Our staff worked together with the families of the children in our care on the "All Together" project. It's critical to act promptly.
The All Together technique combines social skills training, outpatient care, and medical screening to rule out more significant issues. ABA therapy is provided by Board Certified Behavior Analysts at All Together to children and teenagers who struggle with autism and other learning disabilities. These experts are well known for being the greatest in their respective domains. Our approach is based on the ideas of "natural environment teaching" (NET), which was created by the ABA. A more accurate description of what we presently refer to as "natural environment education" would be "natural environment teaching." Research indicates that ABA therapy can improve behavior, sleep patterns, family relationships, and communication, but it is only one component of an all-encompassing treatment strategy.
Residents of Danbury, Connecticut can now benefit from our outpatient mental health services. Our staff has received extensive training, enabling us to treat patients with a wide range of mental health challenges in a professional and ethical manner. Our medically-focused strategy was influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Our mutual understanding allowed us to set aside our differences and collaborate effectively.
There are several advantages to ABA therapy. Applied behavior analysis (ABA) seems to be a cost-effective way to treat behavioral disorders. Many autistic youngsters made great progress after starting treatment. For certain medical conditions, treatments based on ABA principles have demonstrated encouraging outcomes.
Techniques to Guarantee Academic Achievement for Students with Autism
Some people on the autism spectrum may find it difficult to develop and maintain friendships. For children on the autism spectrum, there are numerous options for their educational trajectories.
It's probable that speech therapy offers advantages beyond facilitating communication.
You should start training and exposing your child to a second language as soon as you can if you want them to speak it completely fluently. Without them, a child's physical and mental growth will be hindered. Speech therapy could be helpful if your adolescent struggles to articulate themselves verbally.
