I actually finished this FTE yesterday when i continued playing and it was SO silly i love them sm

after playing through all of danganronpa v3 as well as some of the bonus content, i have come to a conclusion: kokichi is fuckin obsessed with shuichi lol. like that has become very evident to me through the story play, as well as through his interactions with me in the free time events and date events in the love across the universe mode. the dude is so in love with shuichi, it's incredibly obvious and kind of hilarious. mainly bc i'm also fairly certain that shuichi does not feel the same way back. shuichi tolerates him and maybe enjoys his presence at times, but i never got ANY kind of romantic vibe from him to kokichi, unlike the vibes from kokichi to him which definitely were. like, based on shuichi's thoughts and interactions with other people, in their various free time events and dates and graduation events, there are at least 3, maybe 4, people shuichi would rather fuck than kokichi. kaede and kaito are top of shuichi's list, that's painfully obvious, but there's definitely a romantic vibe with all of miu's events too. (miu obviously wants to fuck him, but there's a bit of reciprocation there on shuichi's part too). maybe with maki too, depending on how you read it.

the other people i've finished the FTEs of, keebo and gonta and kirumi, definitely feel platonic tho, so it's not like there's a romance vibe with everyone. [tho i can't make claims for the FTEs i haven't touched yet - himiko, tenko, angie, kiyo, ryoma, tsumugi, and rantaro]. which is why i feel confident in declaring this an unrequited love situation. rip kokichi, the boy is obsessed with shuichi but probably doesn't crack shuichi's top 3

(im sorry for dropping in again but if im allowed to be salty than im gonna be fuckin salty.) i feel like im one of the very few people who actually didnt mind that kaede was killed off. im a weirdo that just kinda likes it when the protagonist is killed, it kinda drives home the whole "anyone can die" thing and really raises the stakes imo. my issue with it is just that it was so early on. like i couldnt even get attached to her in that time frame. [1/7]

kaede could have at *least* lived until chapter two or something. flesh out her friendship with shuichi more. let her form bonds with her classmates more. let her have more of a rivalry with kokichi, that would have been interesting - i feel like theyd be good foils, if im using that term right. let her have development. i like it when games kill off the protagonist, but not like this. like. fuck. persona 3 is a good example. drv3 is not. and then theres how she was treated after her death!! she went from being a fully fledged character with a personality and FLAWS to just. shuichi's dead waifu. shuichi's dead waifu who can do no wrong. tsumugi killed rantaro so OBVIOUSLY she's completely 100% innocent lol. what do you mean she lied to everyones faces, set up a trap, and actively tried to murder someone??? she missed!! so obviously its all okay!!!! kaede did Nothing Wrong!!!1!1!!!!!! [3/7]

like i know she shouldnt have been executed for it given the specific rules and circumstances but they sure are quick to forget that she literally attempted murder. shes still just as guilty as she was beforehand guys. and it really fucking annoys me that they frame it as if kaede has done no wrong because she really *has* and thats what makes her interesting and human IMO. thanks for trying to rob her of depth on top of everything else, kodaka. also her FTEs in salmon mode, like. they were just... ship bait. and dont get me wrong, saimatsu is a valid ship, but what did we actually learn about kaede in her own fucking FTEs. nothing, unless im an oblivious fool. we got practically new about her life, or her personality, or her fucking anything at all it was just shippy stuff because i guess after chapter one kodaka gave up and decided that she would just forever be shuichi's waifu. [5/7]

if they wanted to shiptease saimatsu in kaede's FTEs they could have at least done it more like kaito's or kokichi's. like okay we didnt learn as much about either of them in their FTEs either since they spend the whole time bullshitting stories and lying through their teeth, but it still felt like *more*. and the ship tease was there, but it wasnt the entire fucking FTE in either case. just, like, some one off lines. why couldnt kaede's have been more like that. TENKAEDE MY SILLYSILLIES... tenkaede is probably the most special a ship has ever been to me TO BE HONEST (i may have changed my url and my hyperfixation but i have never changed my love for THOSE GIRLS). to me tenkaede is just soft and sweet and full of love. kaede can benefit from someone who encourages to be open about her emotions instead of pushing them down, and tenko can benefit from someone who finds her endearing just the way she is instead of putting her down for her high-energy nature, which everyone else in her class tends to do. AND THEY ARE SO GIRLFRIEND CODED LIKE THE FEW INTERACTIONS THEY HAVE ARE SUCH GIRLFRIEND MOMENTS!!!! i wish tenkaede were more popular on its own instead of being grouped in with the fact that kaede is shipped with every girl because as much as i encourage kaede ultimate wlw, i also think that tenkaede has a lot going for it in its own right!!! sorry. sorry i went off BUT UMM YES TENKAEDE BEST GIRLED FRIENDS

i see a lot of "lesbian kaede or bi kaede" discourse/discussion but my opinion on the matter is actually that she just doesn't use a label. if you ask she just shrugs. she's just queer/sapphic to me

i love the idea that komaru brushes toko's hair for her every night before they go to bed... toko has such long, pretty hair so OF COURSE her girlfriend wants to take care of it

similarly i think kaede likes to practice all kinds of braids on tenko!!! from the nail-painting scene with rantaro it's obvious that she spends so much time playing piano that she didn't do much typical "girly" stuff as a child so i think she likes to learn all of the different fancy kinds of braids with tenko as a model for her since tenko has such long, pretty hair hehe :))

i constantly think about that scene in dr:s where toko allows one of her novels to be adapted into a manga bc even tho she hates manga just bc komaru loves it so much....... and i'd like to think komaru eventually convinces her to collaborate on a manga together where she's the artist (since it's her dream job!) and toko is the writer

kaede and shuichi are the kind of best friends to have sleepovers where they gossip about other people and watch bad chick flicks and all that

KAEDE AKAMATSU... i don't hate the concept of v3-1 but. i just. my girl....... she was so special, she was everything, and they just ripped her away from us so quickly...... i really think she had a lot more to offer to the game and that she was very refreshing and different as a protag, and i think v3 would have been improved by her being protag instead of shuichi for at least more than a chapter. that's not to say shuichi was a bad protag - i love shuichi - but i think the way kaede filled the role just added something to the game that was missing after she was gone. i will always be a bit bitter about it lol. also WHY DIDN'T SHE GET FULL FTES WITH EVERYONE TO BE PLAYED IN SALMON MODE GRGRGRGRGRGRGGR I WILL ALWAYS BE MAD

Not only that, but if I might add - despite the mastermind’s room being hidden and under lock and key, it was pretty obviously the mastermind’s room - and also, Rantaro won ‘knowledge of it’ for making it to this killing game.

This room, though... this room was special. This was the key to the operation, from the looks of it. It was okay for the hidden room to be compromised, and it was, in a sense - but not this one. So this room was the most important room in the school, even more having access to the Monokumas, right? Considering how the mastermind was able to turn around Chapter 5 with only access to this room, that makes sense. That is incredibly interesting to me, tbh!
