Sorry I really didn’t mean I’m attacking you or your ship. I also don’t think it’s a red flag, most gay men I saw don’t really like shuggy either. I mean, probably the entire world prefers any other shanks ships? On almost every site, con or store there’s always tons of mishanks and Bennshanks and never shuggy. I get it’s also about dynamic and connection those two pairs have, like with the parallels to other ships the base for them is extremely strong. But the minimal shuggy does speak volumes. I genuinely wonder about this. Shuggy is unpopular and again while I do agree there’s strong connection between “rival ships” I don’t think that’s the only reason… and like…. Buggy is ugly, isn’t he? He doesn’t have cool style, doesn’t look cool, makes ugly faces all the time, also is a coward. I like him as comedy character and shanks brother though!
I understand where you're coming from when you say Shuggy is unpopular amongst some people (actually, before anyone says anything. It IS an extremely popular ship in Japan but I have seen A LOT of hatred towards it in this side of the fandom, so that's what I'm talking about when I say it's unpopular). I have talked about this before. And I have said a lot of times that the reason why is often because people only focus on looks and Buggy is not conventionally attractive for the fangirly twinkified sexualized gaze numerous sides of the fandom and the general audience seek. Like, I am not forcing people to ship them, but I have had people admitting the only reason they don't is because of the looks, and I personally believe that is a very (despite valid, of course) dull way of seeing ships. And respectfully, I don't care that other gay dudes or all the people in the world agree with you. It's not a red flag to not like Shuggy, what it is a red flag, though, is to come into people's inboxes to do what you're doing!
I know you don't mean to attack me or anybody who ships them but your tone does wonders showing otherwise. Your perception of shipping is just based on looks and the fact that you came here, to a blog that explicitly ships these characters and is fond of Buggy, talking shit about one of the characters' looks... Is just straight-up mean and not following the social etiquette this site should follow, which is "let people do whatever the fuck they want".
So with all due respect, what makes you think I won't find your questions offensive in any way? Because you keep talking bad about a character I like in my inbox for literally no reason. Do you expect me to admit that the ship is unpopular because Buggy is ugly and boring? Well, I do admit people view him as ugly and only a comedy relief, but I don't. Expecting others to find beautiful and interesting the same things you do is having a very close-minded vision that One Piece's plot itself is against.
By the way, you're showing that you clearly don't like Buggy in the slightest because you're only talking about the traits that you find negative about him. But of course, you like him as comedy relief. Of course, you like him as a character in Shanks' story and not as a character himself. Despite Buggy having lots of depth. Your perception of these characters seems, in my opinion, extremely empty and, as I said, only based on looks. And you're free of shipping whatever you want however you want! But please, please, don't do this anymore. This is just petty high school mean girl behavior. Even Regina George would word this in a more polite way.
So, as a little advice for you, let people ship whatever they want without questioning their favorite characters! I am sure you will live a more peaceful life!

there is a tendency on this site and in other similar discourses to conflate political literacy with, like, lit major literacy in a way that kind of gets on my nerves. endless posts along the lines of “if you can’t even be bothered to read for themes and motifs then how do you expect to understand propaganda in the news media?” and like, not only does this fall into the issue described in the last post where it is assumed that a certain level of education is automatically conducive to good politics when reality shows that is very much not the case, but it also just feels like… a bad understanding of the skillset required to analyze news media for propaganda and stuff vs the skillset required to talk about how grief is the predominant theme of a story. sure there’s some overlap but to treat them as so closely linked feels symptomatic of this idealistic view of Learning as some kind of hallowed fount of knowledge rather than an infinite series of different specialized skillsets and how these play out in the real world (this mindset also lends itself to other kinds of rancid takes)

Talking a little bit about 'boycotting Eurovision' under Keep Reading, feel free to scroll down if is not what you want to see.
The most used argument on the matter of banning Israel from Eurovision is the fact that Russia got banned from Eurovision, which is the worst argument anyone could bring.
Kindly reminder that Russia didn't get banned because of the war with Ukraine. Russia got banned because many countries has threatened to withdraw from the competition. Sadly, that's a big difference.
Yes, the countries has threatened to withdraw because they support Ukraine and see Russia as the party in the wrong. That was their reason. EBU's reason for banning Russian was because those countries threatened to withdraw, not because the war was bad and Russia must be stopped.
This situation isn't the same. Why? Because many countries support Israel in their genocide. Because this time around Palestine is the party in the wrong. Because we're taught to believe that Israel isn't in the wrong here.**
Boycotting Eurovision won't work. There are people out there who don't know the truth and want to watch Eurovision. There are people out there who don't care and will watch Eurovision regardless of the situation. There are people out there who, despite having the facts, still don't see Israel as the bad guy in this situation and will watch Eurovision. Sadly, boycotting won't work unless everyone does it.
The only way Israel will get banned, in my opinion, is by going through the same thing as Russia. If other countries threatened to withdraw- and not any countries, but the ones investing the most in Eurovision, then yes. That will get Israel banned.
Otherwise? The only thing we do is hurt artists that don't deserve it. Artists who use Eurovision as a way to get more exposure and experience. Artists who deserve to be heard.
Don't vote for Israel's entry. Don't stream their song either. Heck, turn off the TV when is their turn to perform.
**This whole situation (the war, not Eurovision) isn't only black and white. Civilians die daily because of this, all of them from both sides. Innocent people who has no fault. Let's not forget that

Hello! I'm just curious about how Trebonius and Cassius operate around each other in your head. I love your thoughts on Trebonius as a sort of sledgehammer in the hands of others but does the same apply to Cassius? Is he a sledgehammer too, but also does he wield Trebonius in the same way?
nah, I’ve only ever framed Cassius and Trebonius as a sort of mutual conspiratorial seduction (or two people who got fucked over by Caesar coming together with the same goal), so neither one of them is wielding the other the way Crassus or Caesar used Trebonius. you can’t really do a good Roman conspiracy with hammers & both Cassius and Trebonius has their own conspiracies to Caesar, with Trebonius eventually joining Cassius’!

Cellbit saying Bad has gone soft, after we the audience have seen Bad spiral and do things that harm himself and play complicated mind games for literal months at this point, rings similarly to how Forever said Bad was being dull/boring and not 'living life' while Bad was secretly planning an assassination, which he then successfully carried out days later.
I completely understand how they view him that way (and Cellbit especially is not in the right headspace), but ooooo further examples of how the islanders nor the audience can ever fully know what's going on with this guy...

oh yeah, fnaf movie thoughts
out of all the words i could use to describe it, i wasn't expecting the most prominent one for me to be "cute". but here we are! thank you jim henson's creature shop, i love you
i am. So Confused. is this an au? a retcon? neither, somehow? (probably just an au but you never know with fnaf tbh)
they sure did spend five nights at freddy's!
i was So caught off guard when the credits theme started playing and i mean that in the best way. so fucking cool
overall basically met my expectations: a good time even if it's confusing (probably not so confusing to people who aren't already familiar with the lore of the games though, but again it's most likely an au so whatever!)

The female space of the queen's lodgings was not the enclosing tower of Gilchrist's model, protecting women's chastity by segregation, but a far more complex and empowering arena to which men and women were invited for specific purposes in which the queen contributed to her husband's style of kingship. It is evident that these chambers were defined by their particular association with the queen, not the other way round. The queen was certainly not confined to these chambers, and as well as providing a forum for the practical issues of the exercise of queenship…the wider court was also a space in which the symbolic values of queenship were celebrated. The frontispiece to Anthony Woodville's translation of the Dictes and Sayings of the Philosophers, in which king and queen are dressed in coronation regalia, is a highly idealized image of court life, but the assumption of the queen's presence beside her husband is important. Integral to the nature of fifteenth-century monarchy was public display of the sovereign, and the queen, as part of his public body, was very much a part of that display: she could not be hidden away in towers.
-J.L. Laynesmith, "The Last Medieval Queens: English Queenship 1445-1503"

Being anti monarchy in Norway is pretty annoying because the royal family is so fucking popular, as if the likability of the parasite in chief should determine whether we have to pay for this one family to have fancy titles and a castle and then just do fuckall :/
