people allow taylor to enrage them so deeply it's fascinating to watch. like it's okay you can put the phone down for a couple of days and breathe you'll live if she puts out another album

HoO is so funny to me when you actually think about the ages of all the characters. Octavian is 18. Percy and Annabeth are 16, almost 17. Reyna is presumably 16. Frank just turned 16, Jason’s about to turn 16. Leo and Piper are like 15. Hazel’s like 14 and a half, and Nico is 13.
The Death Sibs are both the youngest and oldest on the Argo II. Octavian is a college freshman getting into petty drama with a bunch of high schoolers. He gets told to shut up at one point by a random 8th grader. Everyone is scared of the 8th grader. We Sent A 13 Year Old To Superhell and he came back weirder, Just Like Middle School. TLH was just three high school sophomores being sent to do a task and it going Exactly Like You’d Expect. Percy’s the only demigod on the ship who can legally drive (though Reyna gets her drivers license at some point before TOA). What Is Happening.

like we all talk about who the most unhinged character in trek is but if you locked Spock and Tilly in a room together and told them to come up with a plan for something they’d probably accidentally rip through the fabric of time itself, in record speed, just so they could leave each others presence

I keep thinking about the possibilities of Yoda-Kantam-Lula....-....Mana-Ky-Asajj Jedi Lineage (I am correct) but mainly what my sister pointed out about it after I brought the idea up; Asajj's absolute terror and devastation when she finds out Yoda is her grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand Master:

i do think show wise, if you add in the dalton thing, that alicent might have been able to convince rhaenyra to stand down with my stepstones offer, but the thing is she canNot send otto to do this by himself. i think if the offer came straight from alicent, esp if she confides about otto’s planning withiut her, rhaenyra would actually be willing to listen and the longer they can keep the war of words going, the less likely it is that rhaenyra can unseat aegon (not dissimilar to like, rhaenys & corlys were never gonna unseat viserys at the gc 101 bc viserys was already so entrenched in the line of succession in the eyes of the lords and smallfolk). maybe if the offer came from helaena as well, or the offer was sent back with rhaenys instead of rhaenys having to escape too. but rhaenyra is rightly never going to believe a thing that comes out of otto’s mouth and is also rightly convinced that if she gives up the greens will slaughter her children by harwin.
if the offer comes from a more genuine person and not the literal embodiment of all of rhaenyra’s pains & feelings of being both emotionally neglected and needlessly fixated on & jerked around, i think at the very least she would pause for longer & get her side to pause as well (minus daemon). but just being told “you can keep the two castles you already have also we’re taking your kids hostage” by the man who started all this shit feels like a completely unserious offer. why would she believe him!!? why would she take an offer where she gains absolutely nothing and aegon wins everything??

It's funny stepping back into fandom spaces where most people are within my general age range or older after making so many younger friends in MiAbyss fandom* so when i go back to my old stomping grounds of LOGH or T&B or Star Trek or Vorkosiverse or the BJD hobby or just the whole entire SFF/genre fiction reader+writer sphere and it's like oh ok yeah. i'm not really thaaaaaaattttt humongously old i guess. because to be honest with you sometimes in other contexts i feel like the club penguin 18+ elderly penguin
*not to erase those of you in there who are older! it's just that something with MiA that was a brand new experience for me over the last year is that I sure did accumulate some treasured fandom friends a decade-ish younger than me and i feel somewhat protective of them slash occasionally ashamed of not being a more impressive role model or something but okay look you guys don't want a mentor you want a draw-er of shitposts and a writer-er of decentish fanfics and That I Can Do

As I'm fleshing Estryd out, I'm starting to realize that she simply does not make smart decisions when there's potential to gain more magic.
She's a Warlock.
She opened the necromancy book as soon as she could (or at least, she let Astarion open it because he seemed like he really really wanted to).
She let the vampire bite her, because why not?
And she's just fully absorbing as many tadpoles as she can because that mysterious dream visitor said it was a good idea.
Like, I do not know the reason for the Dark Urge, but at this point I'm not even surprised it's happening to her anymore. I could totally see Estryd volunteering to deal with these dark urges and the memory loss if she thought there would be cool side benefits.

[If Ganondorf was a thorn in the Hylian monarchy's side, Nabooru was at least a dagger, and that makes me laugh.
Before he escalated things, Ganondorf was playing the strategy game. The "earn their trust, play along with their stupidity and ignorance, and turn on them later" game. The same game the chief before him had to play, though she didn't do it for the same reasons, obviously. He had to hold his tongue, laugh at his or his people's expense, and play the part of the loyal subject, just happy to be included and not ruling over a tribe of corpses. While he certainly spoke his mind when he felt it necessary and was disgusted by the charade, he was still likely careful. Calculating is probably the more apt term. It was a constant mental game of what he could get away with, what seeds could he plant and when, etc.
Fast forward to Nabooru taking over as chief. She's not there to play games or fool anyone. Joining Ganondorf on some of the diplomatic trips to Hyrule Castle gave her enough experience with the Hylian court to know she had no interest in pussy footing around their preconceived notions of her, the Gerudo, or their former king. She doesn't hold her tongue as she would in the past, sometimes on Ganondorf's orders rather than her own censorship. She's in charge and she's TAKING charge. Part of her knows it's a bit of a gamble, considering plenty in Hyrule are highly suspicious of the Gerudo, thinking they'll try to avenge their king who they believe they worshipped as a god and finish what he started. Zelda becoming queen was likely a big help, too, because I imagine she, unlike her father, demanded her council treat the Gerudo and Nabooru with the same respect they give her since she is the chief of her own people. Communication and actual attempts at solid alliances were also more important to Zelda...especially since she saw her father's flaws in ruling first hand and the problems that caused.
Basically, Nabooru didn't play for the most part. She by no means stoked the fires of war or anything, but she wasn't going to pretend to be and stand for anything she didn't, either. If she didn't like something that could hurt the Gerudo, she was VERY vocal about it.]
