apparently it says that rauru DID have kids, multiple even, which yeah... is kinda necessary for zelda to even be connected to them so much so that sonia can SENSE a blood connection (which, even with all the excuses with magic, is just a little too far for me to suspend my disbelief bc its over, OVER, ten thousand years worth of generations that seperate her from them that one lil touch of the hand can sense that (feels more like an attempt to make you care about them or .. see them as zeldas "better" parents just bc they exchange a few nice words, i never got the feeling they were 'better' parents and its also kinda disrespectful to her actual parents, like sure rhoam wasnt the best but i wouldnt call rauru better just bc he was polite)- i could see maybe the light power of hylia or sth but since its the coolest dude that ever lived rauru now that had it which still doesnt make sense and makes me unreasonably annoyed and she can sense BOTH of their powers in her? nah) the fact theres NOTHING about them in the game itself is just so ... no way they planned any of this

are they just gonna go and do it like they did with kashiwa (kass)? (bet they are also gonna say they did all the stuff like ... moving the shrines around (lol?) and lifting the islands up into the sky- which is still weird bc ... didnt they also say they were living in the sky before coming to the surface?? so where?? did they park all their islands on the surface and the mystery kids had the keys so they had to repark them back into the sky after they returned off camera?? xD also why are the islands so different as an environment if they where from the surface? like even the STONE up there is different- and if they were first in the sky then on the surface and the nback in the sky .. why is there not a single yellow tree or grass in the past- you cant really argue that it changed bc they were up there so long bc .. nothing else changed, the suddendly and totally always there sonau buildings are largely in prime condition, only some slightly moldy, and what we see of the glorious past looks barely any different from the present, aside from like ... some standard trees shuffled, no castle yet and that glowy uwu filter DESPITE that stupidly long time frame between it)

Thoughts and spoilers (with screenshots) for Haunted Castle Revisited below.

The intro cutscene made me laugh. I wish it didn't, LOL. It's really awkward.

I'm really perplexed that they didn't adjust Simon's intro cutscene sprite. Selena's is totally different - they don't look quite right standing together.

Interesting choice to give Selena's sprite purple hair. Her dress is very pretty!

Simon's in-game sprite is very nice!

Gameplay feels fun and easier than the original! My only grievance with Simon's movement is that he sometimes needs a moment to register that I'm crouching (maybe it conflicts with a whip strike input?) The backgrounds in particular are especially beautiful. I love the spritework and parallaxing. It harnesses the dark gloom with high contrast colors I love so much from other titles like Bloodlines, Rondo, CV3 and ReBirth.

I'm perplexed by some of the choices... like gravestone crosses in the trees? Weird, but OK.

Climbing on chandeliers is very Super Castlevania 4 and I'm here for it!

They made some fresh and engaging changes to the tedious bits of some levels. All of the bosses are improved, too! Each were challenging in their own way (barring Medusa, maybe--crouch and strike and the fight will end quickly.)

The Frankenstein's monster fight had a lot of neat additions and cycles. Really enjoyed that one - it stands out in my mind!

Dracula's second phase is actually incredibly challenging in this one, as opposed to the original. It's a little hard to hear the remastered music over the sound effects. I listened to them afterwards from the menu and they're really good. Original Cross Your Heart is still my favorite! Can't be beat. But truly Bloody Tears sounds incredible with the electric guitar. Chills. I'm curious why they removed the bit where you go into like... idk how to describe it. Like an alternate dimension and fight harpies for a certain amount of time? I would have liked to see that in this version. Speaking of removed things: not sure how I feel about the part at the beginning where it's normally the rainfall/brick wall obstacle being replaced in the way it was. Its changed version is equally as tedious, in my opinion.

The Stopwatch was also removed as a subweapon. I can understand why - it made some fights very trivial. The fleamen... lol they're just so excited to be there, hopping around in a giddy, non-threatening way. The bridge connecting to Dracula's castle was much easier than the original. I didn't feel like one wrong move and I'd plummet to my death.

Dracula's coffin room has changed - poor Selena is laid out on top of Dracula's coffin, unconscious! She isn't present during the fight in the original game.

When Dracula's second form appeared I literally gasped out loud. It was totally unexpected! And to have Selena be part of the fight (floating behind) was a really nice touch.

Hahahah when I first played I didn't realize I could catch Selena after the fight ended. I let her fall to the ground (which was VERY funny to watch) thinking a cutscene would play... it's only when I watched someone play it on YouTube I realized that you can have Simon stand under her and he'll catch her in his arms. (I played it a second time just to make sure I caught her. I'm going to have to draw this... my dear OTP... I'm so df djfbgdfjfg)

Like the first cutscene, the final cutscene felt a little awkward, too. And Selena has blonde hair on her cutscene sprite, as opposed to the purple in-game sprite? She's so pretty, though. Q_Q Can't be mad about that.

Overall the vibe of this game is really amazing. When I first played The Adventure ReBirth, I thought to myself that it was a really amazing way to handle a Classicvania remaster. At the time, I told my spouse that I would love to get a new Castlevania entry--or another remake--of that style. Konami delivered in one of my very favorite titles. I'm so happy!!

Highly recommend this remake. Solid 9/10 from me.

first, my coherent-ish thoughts on the movie:

like ok it wasnt high class cinema. it's a marvel movie. but it was still really sweet!!

kamala is still the absolute sweetest kid. ofc she's going to be the heart of their little team-up. and i'm so happy her family was in the movie too. It was such a crucial part of her show, it'd be such a shame if they just totally neglected them. (i mean they weren't like Main Characters but they were still present in general which is nice!) iman vellani absolutely crushed it-- i hope she had fun on set, because it looked like she was having a blast!!

monica's characterization was wonderful too, i loved how her character has stayed consistent from wandavision! (her instincts to de-escalate conflicts is present, thats such a compelling trait for a hero to have.) and her meeting binary at the end broke my heart! Q_Q whatever they're paying teyonah parris isn't enough, the way her voice broke when she was crying made me misty eyed.

and captain marvel!!! i really feel like they put a lot more work into making her feel more like a character this time around. dgmw, i loved captain marvel. but i really feel like they took the time to flesh out her character a lot more this time around! ok frothing at the mouth time:

After mulling this over for a bit, I finally got an idea for an ask lololol.

So, I was thinking about an SO who as Scarlet, works in the red light district. This SO has been forced into indebtured servitude as a way to pay for their parents debt, and they've known the gang since they were young, basically childhood friends.

Knowing this, what would everyone do/react to their SO asking them to escape together or if they're the ones asking the SO to escape together, knowing that there are ears and eyes everywhere, after all nothing goes unnoticed in this place. Pls be as angsty as possible. (They get caught, one of them gets cold feet, etc.)

Such a tragic fate, isn't it? The red light district has never been known for nice stories with beautiful endings after all, has it?

PROCEED WITH CAUTION

Scarlet

Scarlet was always unfortunate, not only had she been caged forever since birth but someone just as important as her was in the same position... And that hurt more than her own fate. She would cut her own wings and give them to you if that'd assure you'd be free from this place and fly far, far away.

Her wings are so tainted by now though, Scarlet is not sure how you could use them to fly.

She was already ready to resign to her horrible fate and die with it, but when you so sweetly and hopefully asked to escape with her, she almost had hope too. You reminded her of those old memories of a young Scarlet who believed she could ever be free too, before her hopes were grabbed and crushed within reach. Was it really possible for either of you to be free? The dark alleys as insecure as they were, it was the home for "filth" like her... But you surely didn't deserve to be called such thing.

And because you didn't deserve it, she gave you her so usual smile and agreed to it all. She seemed secure, she seemed to really think you'd be free... That night when you both were preparing to run, you even could feel hope in the way she grabbed your face and kissed you so deeply it seemed to burn deeply into your lips, leaving a mark forever in there.

"No matter what happens or what you hear, you have to run and keep running, alright?"

With both your hands firmly clasped together, you started running out towards the gates. The clouds seemed to hide the moonlight, giving you more opportunity to hide and you had turned to beam a smile to Scarlet, but you were unable to tell her expression due to the darkness surrounding you both. It was when the sound of a single gunshot made you bite down a gasp and her hand let go to push you.

"Remember what I told you! I'm right behind you!"

And so you ran and ran, your back merging with the darkness and taking you away forever from that place. The moonlight finally poured under Scarlet, blood pouring from her shoulder as a single tear fell from her face but she had a beautiful smile put on. "Fly, and be free... My heart will always be right behind you" with that whisper she turned back, raising her hands in surrender to the giant amount of people pointing her with guns.

"...Don't worry, I won't run away again."

Haru

You two had met simply by accident, but it was the most beautiful accident in his life. Every day he did something stupid, and sure, he was probably not the luckiest person out there but whenever he was with you he felt like anything could be done, that he was worth so much more than he could ever thought. Haru would never thought that waiting for his friend Leandro to finish his shift would guide him into such a beautiful person as you.

You are the only reason he ever continues to come back.

Haru could barely process the fact you were caged to this place forever... How? Why? What did you even do to deserve this kind of destiny so cruel?

"I- I..." your pleads to be freed, to escape with him, it seemed all like a movie to him. In movies, the leads usually manage to escape and find their happy ending... But what would he do if that doesn't happen? He felt panic on the pit of his stomach. He could run, he could fight, he was willing to do all of that for you, but just how big is the thing you guys are fighting against?

Would it really end with just some punches and kicks?

"...Snow" he usually used that nickname when he felt like you were so small and fragile that he wanted to hold you in his hands. Haru was aware that wasn't possible. "Do you have a plan...?" he needed to know it all, what can he help you with? How can he make sure you're safe?

And a plan you had. A very risky one, but one that Haru was willing to take. That night he had entered the gates in the same way he was used to, but he wasn't sure if he'd be going out of them this time. You both met and hugged stronger than ever. He gave you a change of his own clothes and used his coat to cover up so you could change. Trembling, he nodded to you.

You walked naturally together, trying to walk past the first gate and... It worked. No one paid attention to you both as you made your way out, and you could taste it, a new life with your most beloved boyfriend. Until before the last gate, everything was suddenly so quiet it could be felt in your bones. Hands seemed to come out of nowhere from the alleys and both you and Haru got grabbed, it was so swift, so fast, your hands could only barely touch before you both were dragged away from each other to never met again.

The way his eyes looked at you that day, it's a memory you could barely remember now, under the darkness of the alleys.

Nova

Nova met you when he was dragging one of his workers from one of those brothels, after he had been found out to be missing for days. The Nova of that day seemed cold, sharp and absolutely not willing to interact with you or anyone of that place. Yet something attracted you two together, maybe it was the way that cold exterior was just hiding the softest person on the inside, or the way your situation made Nova's instincts kick and want to keep you safe. The red light district was a place Nova has always kept an eye on, in a more powerful way than most people could tell.

When you suggested escaping, he wasn't surprised. His eyes softened, looking at your figure and pulling his tinted glasses away to sigh. "...You can't escape" it was a rather cold and harsh blunt reality. "...But I'm not leaving you here either" Nova was rarely weak with anything...

But you, you made him so weak, so weak he couldn't contain these emotions of needing you safe.

"...I can't tell you right now how, it's not safe." it was all he was going to say about this matter, and it was the way he seemed to brush over your words what left your heart hurting; was he really worried? Did he really intend to do anything about it? ...Were just part of his fun? It was common to have these thoughts, but keeping quiet is all you could do.

So you decided to take your own destiny into your hands. You didn't need anyone's help, not even his. Whatever fate had for you... You'll take it.

Not so many days after, Nova had shown up on the brothel, dressing up in a fancy suit and many other bodyguards and men behind him. He was here to talk of important matters, first of all, to dismantle this brothel due to the horrible ways of forcing people into sex labor and also to get the freedom of all the women being forced to work here. His posture was confident and firm, he had all the things he needed to destroy this entire business, and even more powerful people under his arm.

It was on his plans to free you all even before you told him you were a prisoner of this place; he knew, way before that, all that is going on here. He just needed more information, more proof, more things to finally put an end to it. And you gave it all to him, he couldn't wait to finally have you free on his arms. It was a matter of time he'd meet with someone there. Yet... He didn't expect that he'd fall so deeply in love with you. Your smile, the way your eyes looked at his and even the way you spoke and walked, it was all imprinted in his brain, and it was so silly but so... So inevitable. Leah knows, you're not free in this district. Unless you've joined here by choice, you're most likely a prisoner of the darkness and the red lights, meant to live and die here.

Yet that didn't stop his brain for searching for ideas to help you be free. The safest choice was to buy your freedom, but he didn't make enough money to free you soon, and even with you both saving together it'd take at least a few years before you could barely make enough money to try.

"Love, listen to me" Leah held your face in his hands, rubbing his thumbs on your cheeks, and giving you a smile to reassure you. "We have to find a way, I'm sure there must be one. I mean- not like you're the first one who ever tried, right? But! We can't risk it, we have to think of this with a cold head" or that's what one of his best friends would say, anyway.

You would visit sometimes on his host bar to talk of ways to plan your escape, and everything seemed to be working perfectly. You had set a date where you would use the bad weather to mix and hide, plus use the excuse of Leandro as a host to imply you were just another client walking out of the district... Everything was so well done, but the walls seemed to have ears and whisper back everything you had said.

On one of your meetings, just a day prior your escape day, you and Leandro had been surrounded by men from your brothel and captured. You both woke up on a rather ominous place where you couldn't tell the time, and a single wall separated you from Leandro. Your screams were enough to drive him crazy, and no matter how many limbs they'd cut from him he'd still call your name in hopes you were somehow, still alive.

But was being alive worth it at all now? Would death have been better? ...Maybe never meeting would've made it easier for you both? Would you still be safe, out there?

His thoughts were filled only with your name, as a last cut to his throat filled his view with darkness and death guided his dreams.

Pseudo Harem Reviews: Episode 12 (Finale!!)

To preface this review, I just want to add that if you somehow haven’t watched this anime yet- Absolutely do!! It’s one of the sweetest most wholesome romcoms you’ll ever see in your life, and I can’t recommend it more!! Now-

ALRIGHT ANIME ADAPTATION, YOU WIN!! YOU WIN!!! I’M SORRY FOR NEARLY EVERY PACING CRITICISM I GAVE Q_Q!!! Wow, what a show! What a story!! What a journey!!! I’m so happy with everything in this episode! Actually moving the confession all the way back here, giving us an anime-original onscreen kiss, giving us a brand new scene of the wedding reception! All so so good!

If I had to still critique a few small things- first, I’m a bit confused that they cut the penultimate chapter. Despite all the flak I hear about it from the fandom, I actually liked the bonus little moral that Rin might be busy with work sometimes but it’s never as bad as you think and she’ll always have time for Eiji, namely during their college years. Second, and this is even more minor, I would’ve sworn Rin’s response to Eiji’s proposal was partly as the personas- maybe the director got it wrong, maybe I got it wrong, who knows?

Sidenote- Kiri stays winning with the anime as they added lines where she says her acting career is taking off too! Sidenote- it was very vaguely hinted at in the manga but with these added scenes did anyone get more of the vibe that she had a crush on Rin and jealousy of Eiji?

Now, back to what I liked! As soon as I saw we were getting no opening to save on time, I knew we were getting something good this week. The animation while still not flawless, was much better than usual- the show seems to still struggle on 4/5ths angles (just like the manga, which made it kinda hard for me to do fanart) and every lingering shot on Rin looked AMAZING. I think the studio knew what they were doing, putting so much extra focus on this finale! The soundtrack was really nice and subtle and the additional scenes were great!

It's been such a wonderful journey following this series along with everyone! Now to pray that we get the full Rin and Eiji version of the opening, a good dub, and hopefully some amazing new series from the mangaka! Just like with Rin and Eiji, the journey is never truly over!!

I'm so happy I was there at the right time q_q we live on SUCH a dangerous road like a big hill people speed down and there's constantly car accidents because of it and the poor thing was terrified like tail between legs, a neighbor had to help hold her while I looked at the phone numbers on her tag and I had to physically lift her and carry her up to my apartment because she was too scared to move. None of the shelters/vets nearby were open until tomorrow morning I could have taken her to and see if she's chipped or whatever so I was fully prepared to keep her overnight and I kept her company the whole time she was here and she played with one of my cat toys a bit

I think the anxious shy demeanor really clicked with me, just like my cat, which the owner had told me on the phone she's like that because she was a stray and recently adopted! Also like my cat ;×; he was an anxious stray brought in not long before I adopted him

GOD I'm so sorry for taking so long to answer this anon!! I've been going through so much this past little while and this ask just completely slipped past me. I also needed to think about it a little bit! I really hope that I haven't hindered you at all with this. Christmas in particular isn't something I've thought a lot about for Claudette on her own, mostly just how Philip would react to his first Christmas post-realm and how Claudette helps with how overwhelming it is. I love the two of them so much haha. Feel free to send another ask if you change your mind or find a new topic, or just want any other hcs too!! I have so many it's kind of wild haha.

I definitely think for pre-realm, Claudette has a very loving family. She's an only child, but gets along really well with her parents. They all love each other so much. Her parents support her and reassure her when she's feeling unsure of herself, or anxious. Her mom is one of the people she's most comfortable to talking about her problems to. Keeping in line with lore, I think she would probably have a few friends, but few offline ones. I haven't thought much about it, so it's something I'll have to think about.

For Christmas hcs, I think Claudette feels like the best kind of hot chocolate has those little peppermint bits in them, and marshmallows are important too. It's just better with the mint in it to her.

She's a huge fan of just.. the whole atmosphere of Christmas, and loves giving gifts to the people she cares about. She likes being silly and carefree and while she isn't very fond of the texture of those stereotypical Christmas sweaters, I'm sure she's found something similar that's comfortable for her. Maybe has a hair pin that looks like holly. She loves how cozy it is inside, and warm, and the whole atmosphere of Christmas is just so nice to her. It wouldn't surprise me if she sung Christmas carols when she was younger. While not strictly a Christmas hc, (winter in Canada is like half the year, lol,) I definitely think that Claudette has to make at least one snowman before all the snow melts until next year... Or until September/October/November again lol. She has lots of time, because sometimes it can snow past April, even.

She's a huge sucker for little Christmas-themed candies. Chocolates, mints, caramel, you name it. She finds them cute! She won't eat enough to get sick of them, but they're a nice treat. I think her mom would make some sort of treat with her, but I'm not sure.

If you want post realm too, I think that not a lot would change!! Claudette would still be a huge gift giver, and overall be very cheery and glad to spend the season with her friends. Going out to the streets and storefronts and seeing all the glittering lights that illuminate the snow that falls past them? Immaculate. One of Claudette's favorite things to do. It just feels so magical, all those twinkling lights in so many colors shining on the snow and lighting up the dark streets. There's just something about it that is hopeful about it, to her. After the christmas season is new years, so it's almost like one last celebration of everything that she's survived, and how there's more good things on the horizon.

I think that she's not particularly religious, but has attended Christmas services at some church or other at some point, and kind of liked it. It had such a neat atmosphere. She really admired the stained glass windows and how peaceful the building felt.

Just a little misc hc, but I think Claudette really likes collecting plushies and stuffed animals. Christmas is no exception to this, it that springs up any ideas for you.

listen, listen, i know it sounds like im woobifying her i Know it but reading the scraps of her story how can i Not feel sorry for her? when the story framed her very similar to jon? the supernatural childhood encounter that gave them arachnophobia and the subsequential joining with an Entity against her will? the fact that both the story and the fans treat her like a spider woman always sat very very bad to me, and the fact that the story itself always framed her like a villain (considering All The Other Characters that get the benefit of the doubt) was extremely disappointing

RWBY Volume 8, Chapter 1 Thoughts and Opinions

HELLO, INTERWEBS!!! At long last, we are back with more RWBY, and with it, more RWBY Thoughts and Opinions! After the absolute roller coaster that was Volume 7's cliffhanger finale, I can not imagine the insanity that awaits us this Volume. So, without further ado, here are my various thoughts and opinions on Chapter 1 of RWBY Volume 8, "Divide"

SPOILERS BELOW:

Hmm, starting off with a mysterious woman scrubbing floors, and...wait, is that...no...

I really like the way they juxtapose Cinder scrubbing with her scratching the chair. Very symbolic.

Yick, something about organic architecture just gives me the willies. I mean, is the whale aware that they double as a building complex? Can they feel the diabolical ongoings of it's rib cage? Creepy stuff.

Oof, outright taking credit for grabbing the relic, Cinder? Yeah, no way that's going to bite you in the ass.

Oh my. Mercury, Emerald, AND Hazel have new looks this season. I'm sure I'll warm up to them eventually, but right now Emerald's and Hazel's aren't really doing this. For Hazel, the outfit is all right, but the hair is a bit boring compared to his originals. Mercury's is ok, but is it just me, or is he basically wearing Yang's V4-6 outfit? I mean, it works, but still.

"Without you, I am nothing." That...didn't sound like the first time she's said that. It almost sounds like something Salem's drilled into her head for years. Cinder may be irredeemable in my opinion, but I do love a good tragic backstory.

You know, I guess would make sense for the crater to be the slums area. Can't imagine living directly under a floating landmass would be considered prime real estate.

Ooh, this old man has badger paws. I don't think we've seen that kind of Faunus trait yet.

D'aaww, Nora gave Oscar a soft hug rather than her usual glomp. So cute ^-^

I'm interested in how Oscar not telling them about Oz is going to play out.

Ok, their is a lot going on in this bar-base worth talking about, but for some reason I am fascinated by the picture of (i'm assuming) the founders in the background. What interesting designs they have. I feel like they have a story, and I would like to hear it.

Penny's dejected demeanor is giving me all of the feels Q_Q

Not sure how I feel about the rift forming between RWBYJNRO, though I guess we'll have to see where it goes. At least we have people like Jaune playing mediator.

I will say, though, I look forward to seeing Ren and Nora apart. As much as I love them as a couple, I'd very much like to see them operate as individuals.

God, Ironwood trying to manipulate Penny like that.

And there it is. Ironwood has truly revealed his true feelings, and his motivation for his attempt to launch Atlas. He isn't making a tactical retreat in order to form a new plan altogether. He's abandoning the fight altogether, leaving Remnant to die so that he and Atlas can live. It's funny, he wanted to avoid becoming Lionheart, but he was a coward too.

"Everything that follows will be on your hands". That motherf-

You know, we don't see a lot of corpses on this show, do we? Penny got better, Amber's screentime ended as she died, Roman got eaten, Pyrrha got an express viking funeral, etc, and a lot of others were only corpses for seconds before we never saw them again. They did a good job selling how proper dead Clover is here.

Ok, I don't know squat about Hospital layouts. Is it normal to have the morgue right outside of an emergency room? I mean, I guess it saves some travel time should things go wrong, but still, seems like a great anxiety generator for the patient, especially with both rooms having windows. "That's where I'll be going next."

I like the new metal arm. The fact that you can see all of the internal stuff makes it feel like it was quickly put together for the sake of urgency, while still looking cool.

Man, that rendition of "Hero" in the background. Chilling.

Is Winter getting a new look already? I must say. I like the look of the braces, and the ponytail is a vast improvement over the bun.

Either that or it's all in his eyes, which we can't really see from here. Either way, not a huge reaction from him. Methinks the Ace-Ops and Winter might be starting to doubt the horse they bet on.

I find it interesting that Salem doesn't know how the Relic works, but then I suppose it makes sense, seeing as Oz probably placed them into the vaults almost immediately after finding them, so this is probably the first time she's even seen one in person..

Ok, OP time, and buckle up, guys, gals, and nonbinary pals, because this one is going to be a doozy.

-First off, the song sounds pretty good, but it seems like it's going to go through the same cycle as the rest where it doesn't do too much for me at first, but has me headbanging like a metalhead by the end of the volume

- Mantle glitching out between peaceful and wartorn is a wonderful effect. Definitely fills you with a sense of dread.

-The individual shots of Team RWBY are absolutely gorgeous. Conceptually, it's the standard "where we started and where we're at", but the composition is worthy of a chef's kiss. I think I've found my new wallpaper.

-The Ace-Ops appearing on Clover's pin is nice, but what I find interesting is Harriet and Qrow appearing back to back, especially with Harriet looking so angry. Is Harriet going to double down on her loyalty to Ironwood and go after Qrow?

- It seems Robyn is going to be Qrow's main source of support this season, though the bars seem to suggest they might be in custody for a while.

-Oscar seems to be in Salem's stronghold, which doesn't bode well for our farmboy, also, WHY DOES SALEM HAVE DEMON WINGS!? Emerald's Volume 5 illusion wasn't this scary looking!

-I feel like their's symbolism showing Team RWBY's weapons paired together like that, but I feel like it's too early to say what of. Looks pretty, though

-Ren and Nora standing so far apart. It hurts my soul! Interesting how, while Ren looks away, Nora actually turns towards him.

-I didn't notice Winter's change of expression/outfit before passing by Weiss. She went from looking confident and slightly condescending to full with doubt.

-Not a lot to say about the quick shots of Whitley and Willow other then the fact that they both look worried. The image of the Schnee Snowflake shattering, however, is VERY interesting.

-I'm always a sucker for some good ol' chess symbolism. I find it interesting that while Salem's pieces dissolve into creatures of Grimm, Ironwood's simply dissolve, leaving him alone. Perhaps shooting a fellow councilman in the face right in front of his inner circle doesn't play out as well for him as well as he thought it would.

- Speaking of the classics, also gotta love me some reflection artwork. Watts seems to be working behind Pietro's back while Pietro (presumably) works to get Amity running, while secretly worrying about Penny, whose reflection cracks, possibly symbolizing her resolve. I worry for her.

- The snowflake turning into a flower petal in Ren's hand, while a similar petal passes Nora by. I don't know what this means, but I'm intrigued.

- It seems Ruby and Yang won't be completely be at odds, judging by the look they give each other before going into the action shot.

- Hmm, while Cinder pulls a Za Warudo on the fight scene, you can see a dejected Emerald and a pissed off Neo, still moving, among the heroes. Interesting...

-Almost as interesting as Cinder grasping her Grimm arm before being engulfed in flames. Perhaps Salem pulled a Wormtail's Silver Hand with that arm.

-Is this the first time we've seen the Staff of Creation in it's entirety? I remember wanting to include it and the Lamp in my RWBY Vol 7 spritesheet, but couldn't find any images of it's bottom half. I like the little jewel on the bottom.

-Wow, CRWBY went full Kingdom Hearts with the heroes falling through the ice, and I absolutely LOVE IT! This op has some of the most gorgeous visuals the series has ever seen.

-HAPPY EVER AFTER HAPPY? NEVER AGAIN Daaaaaaamn, that's awesome. It kind of reminds me of a line from Red Like Roses Part II, "This bedtime story ends with Misery Ever After". It's incredibly haunting.

-Almost as haunting as the sketchy art style that flashes in between the words, particularly the part that shows Penny's eyes going red before the rest of her does. Did we predict Watts hacking Penny a volume too early?

-The final shot of Crescent Rose alone stuck in the snow. Damn. The theme of this op seems to be "foreboding as all hell"

Damn. Damn! DAMN! This was, without question, the best OP RWBY has ever had. By, like, a lot. The visuals were some of the best the show has ever had to offer, the foreboding is through the roof, and the symbolism is incredibly clever. I don't envy them when it comes time to make Volume 9's, because this will be a very tough act to beat. I am so happy to have RWBY back, and I am both excited and terrified to see what this show is going to do next.

-Oscar seems to be in Salem's stronghold, which doesn't bode well for our farmboy, also, WHY DOES SALEM HAVE DEMON WINGS!? Emerald's Volume 5 illusion wasn't this scary looking!

-I feel like their's symbolism showing Team RWBY's weapons paired together like that, but I feel like it's too early to say what of. Looks pretty, though

-Ren and Nora standing so far apart. It hurts my soul! Interesting how, while Ren looks away, Nora actually turns towards him.

-I didn't notice Winter's change of expression/outfit before passing by Weiss. She went from looking confident and slightly condescending to full with doubt.

-Not a lot to say about the quick shots of Whitley and Willow other then the fact that they both look worried. The image of the Schnee Snowflake shattering, however, is VERY interesting.

-I'm always a sucker for some good ol' chess symbolism. I find it interesting that while Salem's pieces dissolve into creatures of Grimm, Ironwood's simply dissolve, leaving him alone. Perhaps shooting a fellow councilman in the face right in front of his inner circle doesn't play out as well for him as well as he thought it would.

- Speaking of the classics, also gotta love me some reflection artwork. Watts seems to be working behind Pietro's back while Pietro (presumably) works to get Amity running, while secretly worrying about Penny, whose reflection cracks, possibly symbolizing her resolve. I worry for her.

- The snowflake turning into a flower petal in Ren's hand, while a similar petal passes Nora by. I don't know what this means, but I'm intrigued.

- It seems Ruby and Yang won't be completely be at odds, judging by the look they give each other before going into the action shot.

- Hmm, while Cinder pulls a Za Warudo on the fight scene, you can see a dejected Emerald and a pissed off Neo, still moving, among the heroes. Interesting...

-Almost as interesting as Cinder grasping her Grimm arm before being engulfed in flames. Perhaps Salem pulled a Wormtail's Silver Hand with that arm.

-Is this the first time we've seen the Staff of Creation in it's entirety? I remember wanting to include it and the Lamp in my RWBY Vol 7 spritesheet, but couldn't find any images of it's bottom half. I like the little jewel on the bottom.

-Wow, CRWBY went full Kingdom Hearts with the heroes falling through the ice, and I absolutely LOVE IT! This op has some of the most gorgeous visuals the series has ever seen.

-HAPPY EVER AFTER HAPPY? NEVER AGAIN Daaaaaaamn, that's awesome. It kind of reminds me of a line from Red Like Roses Part II, "This bedtime story ends with Misery Ever After". It's incredibly haunting.

-Almost as haunting as the sketchy art style that flashes in between the words, particularly the part that shows Penny's eyes going red before the rest of her does. Did we predict Watts hacking Penny a volume too early?

-The final shot of Crescent Rose alone stuck in the snow. Damn. The theme of this op seems to be "foreboding as all hell"

Damn. Damn! DAMN! This was, without question, the best OP RWBY has ever had. By, like, a lot. The visuals were some of the best the show has ever had to offer, the foreboding is through the roof, and the symbolism is incredibly clever. I don't envy them when it comes time to make Volume 9's, because this will be a very tough act to beat. I am so happy to have RWBY back, and I am both excited and terrified to see what this show is going to do next.

everyone’s phone beeped with a text message saying “wrong”. i remember that this is sherlock texting them so 1) how did he get that text sent to all the people in that room? 2) why is no one reacting to this beyond “oh a text”? seriously this happens twice within the span of a minute and no one thinks that’s weird? 3) how is sherlock reacting in real time to this? is he there? if he’s watching it through a live news report, wouldn’t there still be at least a bit of lag with the camera feed and whatever he’s watching it on?

“well, don’t commit suicide” jesus shit, lestrade, fuck you too. 

this is the third time that everyone’s gotten the exact same text! why is no one mentioning how weird that is!

why is it dark now? how far away are they from . . . . uh. wherever lestrade said the thing was?

alright. in all honesty, sherlock’s reaction to john’s “that . . . was amazing” is kind of endearing. he pauses for a moment, as if to give john time to take it back, then asks “really?” just to make doubly sure. this says that no one has ever reacted like that before to his analyzing ― well, anything. or if they have, they’ve been few and far between.

yeup, that’s a dead body. actually, that’s a. really tidy dead body? like, the others were curled up or something and she’s just. plap flat on her face. s’weird.

i mean i didn’t really see any difference between her ring and the rest of her jewellery (disregard my being blind ‘round the edges for a moment thank you) so you don’t think she could’ve. y’know, fiddled with her ring all the time? it’s what i do with mine ― in fact i’ve fiddled with it so much the resin came off, so.

Shadows obscured the rest of the information. A black-gloved hand picked up the profile that had slipped from the short stack of papers on the desk. Intelligent scarlet eyes scanned the rest of the page quickly, then glanced at the small picture fastened to the upper right-hand corner. 

The young woman in the picture beamed up at him. A wide smile crinkled her russet brown eyes shut. Large red glasses sat on top of a short nose. While her round face made her appear a few years younger at first glance, dark under-eye circles added the years back. The raven-haired demon placed the paper on the desk and ground the heels of his palms against his eyelids, trying in vain to rub the gritty feeling of fatigue away. He stifled a yawn as his DDD rang. 

“Hm?” 

“Lucifer?” 

As always, Diavolo sounded animated, even in the early hours of the morning 

“You’re still awake, I see. Decided yet?” 

Lucifer sank back into his chair. The weight of his exhaustion sat on his chest, pushing the air out in a sigh. 

“Not yet,” he responded, brushing his hand over his forehead.

“Hey, don’t agonize over this for too long, all right? You can just pick one at random, really. Besides, it’s pretty late and you’ve been running on fumes as is.”

“I’m fine.”

“You fell asleep mid-sentence at lunchtime.” Diavolo pointed out

Lucifer made a non-committal sound as he glanced down at the profile in front of him. The time on his wristwatch made him regret checking (as it usually did). He had long since stopped trying to keep track of the scores of profiles that had made the shortlist of humans. They blurred together after the first hundred or so. He glanced at the paper in front of him and closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. 

“You know what? Yes, I have decided. At least this one seems less... mischievous than Solomon.” he muttered as an afterthought

“Oh? Great! Send a picture?”

“Sure.”

Diavolo pulled the DDD away from his ear as the message came in. He switched the call to speakerphone.

“I see what you mean,” he commented with a laugh, “Well, she seems nice enough,”

“I suppose so. What should I do with the rest?”

“Ah, don’t worry about it now. Get to sleep! It’s not like they’ll run away,”

Lucifer rolled his eyes. He could practically see Diavolo waving off his question. He glanced at his watch again and groaned internally. 

“Fine,” he conceded, turning off the desk lamp and ending the call. As he stood and stretched, a draft entered, making the flames in the fireplace dance and disturbing the pile of papers.

“Oh, no you don’t!” he growled, slamming his DDD on top before striding across the room to latch the window shut.

Unbeknownst to him, a single candidate had escaped, whisked out into the chilly night air. It danced erratically across the starry sky, fluttered through the wrought iron bars of the gate before coming to rest on the sidewalk for a moment. The wind whisked it upwards and then:

Rip!

A small dark clawed hand snatched it out of midair, perforating the margins. 

“Hey.” said the small horned creature, nudging its companion. Its voice lay somewhere in the territory between a hiss and a high-pitched rasp. It brought to mind the image of nails scraping a chalkboard; it made your hair stand on end. “Look at this.”

The small group glanced around before swiftly melting into the shadows, their dark essence silently oozing around the corner into a hidden alleyway. One by one they re-materialized, their razor-sharp teeth on full display as their ever-present malevolent grins further widened, distorting their faces.

“Interesting, very interesting” one finally broke the silence, squinting at the paper.

“If this is one candidate for the exchange programme…”

“...it would be a shame if a human was killed during such a delicate attempt at diplomacy,” another continued, its tongue flickering out briefly.

“If Diavolo finds out about this, he’ll have our tails for sure,” one of them quipped, its tail nervously twitching back and forth.

“Please, there are millions of us. There’s no way they’d be able to pin it on us,” scoffed the Little Devil holding the profile. “Besides, when has anyone really cared about us lesser demons?” 

“Humans are the weakest creatures across the three realms and if this stupid programme works out who knows what will come next? What if they expect us to stop eating them? What if they expect us to start viewing them as… as equals?” it hissed, the distaste in its voice palpable. It looked up, its glowing eyes meeting those of each of its companions’.

“We’re already at the bottom of the food chain here. I’m not about to answer to humans. It’s- it’s just unnatural. Anyway, are you with me or not?”

“We’re with you,” someone piped up. The others nodded in agreement. 

“Good.”

The dark talons scraped across the photograph of the human, leaving three parallel gouge marks. They all leaned in as their ringleader lowered its voice to a harsh whisper.

“Here’s what we’re gonna do…”

The human’s picture and summary were pinned to the notice board hours before the occupants of the House of Lamentation stirred. At least those who had bothered to go to bed at all. Lucifer paused briefly on his way out the door. Nothing about the human felt familiar. Pride wasn’t a vice that she struggled with. Based on what he could discern, being self-effacing was second nature to her. A smirk with equal parts contempt and sadism came to his face as he left, as he contemplated how to break her in the face of his sin. I hope your resolve is firm, human. I could do with a challenge.

“Has Lucifer lost it? She looks like a kid! Did the chihuahua need a playmate or something?”

“I know this might be hard, but don’t be stupid. Her cheeks are just a bit chubby. What kid has acne scars like that? Hasn’t she heard of retinols?”

The taller of the two snorted and snapped a picture of the notice board to send in the group. Intense ultramarine eyes flickered up to the picture for a split second before he walked off, his key-chain swaying with every step. In a fluid motion, he pushed his hair off of his forehead and affixed his trademark sunglasses to his face.

“Do you know her?” his brother called after Mammon’s retreating figure

“Ain’t seen her in my life.”

With that Mammon left, his mind already on the business opportunities he’d laid out for the day.

Asmodeus continued to survey the young woman, absentmindedly tapping a manicured finger to the corner of his mouth. He had met her only for a moment. That was strange considering her age. After a few more seconds of scrutiny, he shrugged and went back to his room to continue his weekly detox. No doubt existed in his mind that she would fail any test he presented her with. Who wouldn’t, especially since it was so much fun? Who wouldn’t want to fall to the world’s most popular sin?

Towers and towers of books, all rather precariously stacked, surrounded the Avatar of Wrath as he worked. He tossed his DDD carelessly on his bed about two hours earlier, freeing himself from distractions while he finished his Latin assignment. In all fairness, he finished what the lecturer required him to do but the number of languages from the human realm that originated from the official language of the Devildom. Despite being engrossed in a particularly large tome, he navigated his way around shorter piles without losing his balance. He picked up his phone and checked the notifications.

“Sinai, huh? Interesting name.”

He shut his eyes, pensive. She was familiar, but he didn’t know her personally.

When he opened his eyes he was glaring down at the human, towering over her tiny three-year-old form. She was crying, her large russet eyes pleading along with her choked childish voice that she didn’t want to read. He raised his palm. The crying redoubled and the picture book fell to the floor.

She was older now, maybe about nine or ten, but she was still crying. Black and blue marks were just barely visible against her chestnut-brown skin. He was yelling at her for lying about wearing her retainer.

Satan was then watching a scene unfold before him. Two men were standing in a kitchen yelling at one another. A middle-aged woman was trying to deescalate the situation with little success.

“Hm, a father-son spat? What does that have to do with her?” Satan wondered aloud.

The older man whirled around with a knife in his hand. His wife ordered her son to run. He did. Hours later, at minutes to midnight, the human finally emerged, waking up after falling asleep on her textbooks. She blinked owlishly, disoriented. When the doorknob rattled and her mother walked in. In response to her confusion, her mother hugged her and explained what happened and reassured her that her brother was safe and sound at their grandma’s house. The young woman exhaled, smiled and held her mom and comforted her. For the first time, Satan could hear what she was saying.

“It’s ok Mummy. I’m ok, Mattie is safe. We will be ok,”

Her mother nodded, gave her a watery smile and turned off the kitchen lights. The human watched her mother walk upstairs before crouching down and finally letting her face crumple and hot tears race down her face, her mouth ajar in a silent scream.

Satan shook himself out of his reverie and pondered how he would go about tempting an individual to fall to a sin they feared.

The sizable shadow stopped moving as he heard the notification chime from his pocket. The duffel bag dangled from his fingertips as he squinted at the screen. His eyes widened slightly as he laid his eyes on the picture.

“Huh”

He tapped the microphone icon and continued on his way as he recorded the voice note. 

“I guess you could say I know her. We were closer, at least until the last year or two. But even with her appetite, she was always sharing. I guess you could say that she was half in, half out.”

That being said, it was all too easy to fall back into old habits. Compared to the rest of his brothers, his role in testing the exchange student’s soul could be easier. The crisp breeze tousled his hair as his thoughts turned to Belphegor, a now-familiar ache constricting his heart. He wondered if his twin knew the human. He missed him.

The purple-haired demon carefully placed his gaming headset on his desk before he pushed against the ground with the balls of his feet, sending his chair rolling backwards. 

“Jeez, why do these guys always blow up the stupid group chat whenever I have a campaign?” he griped, his fingers scrolling rapidly; orange eyes darting back and forth

“Really? All this over a human?” He rolled his eyes and turned back to his setup, not bothering to read the profile under the picture. Odds were he knew the human. He knew nearly every human, even if it was just in passing. After all, which of them could say that envy hadn’t crept upon them? If they did, they were lying. Testing the human’s soul would just be another game, and Leviathan was pretty damn good at games. 

                          (づ￣ 3￣)づSTAGE CHANGE(づ￣ 3￣)づ

“So the only two who recognized her really were Beelzebub and Leviathan?”

Lucifer nodded as he set his teacup back down. He offered his DDD to Diavolo before absentmindedly picking up a cookie. He looked around his study, somewhat aggravated about the state of his study. Every time he set time aside to get it back in order, something always seemed to come up. The height of the piles of reports and bills was alarming, and the bout of sneezing that resulted from searching the shelves was a glaring reminder that it had been a while since he had last dusted. Lucifer shut his eyes and let himself slump into the armchair. The glow of the fireplace made patterns that danced across his eyelids.

A loud guffaw from his companion caused him to open one eye.

Diavolo’s shoulders were still shaking as he showed Lucifer the screen. The Avatar of Pride stared for a few moments before sitting bolt upright and snatching the phone away, eyes wide and slack-jawed.

Two stickers were trending. One was of Diavolo in his true form, donning a beautiful -if - extravagant red ball gown. The other was of himself astride a pastel pink and purple unicorn with a rainbow horn.

His grip threatened to crack the screen as Diavolo managed to compose himself enough to speak

“That’s the best thing I’ve seen all day,” he gasped as he wiped a tear from his eye. 

“Who is responsible for this?” The words barely made it through Lucifer’s clenched jaw.

“I’m not sure, I think it may have come from the student newspaper. Our students are very creative,”

 The Prince was either oblivious or unphased by Lucifer’s displeasure.

“Is that so? Remind me to have a talk with Mephistopheles.” 

Choosing to overlook this, Diavolo planted his feet on the ground and rested his elbows on his knees.

“She didn’t have any pacts with them either? Just her own sin?” he peered at Lucifer over his steepled fingers.

The dark-haired man nodded, business-like once more. Diavolo sat back, looking quite pleased with himself.

“Well then, Overall I’d certainly say she seems to be... hm,” He crossed his arms and gazed at the rafters before looking back at Lucifer “I don’t think ‘safe’ is the word I’m looking for, necessarily, but she seems like a great candidate and a counterbalance to Solomon.”

Lucifer raised his eyebrows. “A Counterbalance?”

“I mean, Solomon isn’t exactly your typical human,”

“That’s an understatement,” Lucifer muttered. Diavolo snickered, shaking his head. 

“You know what I mean! A monarch, a sorcerer, a scholar and dozens of pacts to boot. He isn’t exactly average, is he?”

Lucifer’s lip curled as he shook his head

“I still don’t see we kept him as a candidate,” he commented. He didn’t expect a meaningful response, especially considering Diavolo was perched at the edge of his seat; his eyes alight the way they always were whenever he latched onto a new brainwave.

“I guess you could consider it an experiment within an experiment; one human with exceptional abilities and one who’s… well, with no offence meant to her… is perfectly average.” 

A thud and muffled yelling somewhere beyond the walls cut off the Devildom Prince. Lucifer groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose.

“What have they done now?” he exhaled, exasperated.

Diavolo patted his shoulder, trying his best not to laugh at his friend’s distress.

“It’s never a dull moment here, is there?”

“Don’t remind me. Go ahead, you were explaining…”

“Oh yes. I figured it would be an excellent case study. How would the average human when compared to an angel or a demon? What help would they need and how much? If change is to happen, then we need to be on an equal footing across the realms.”
