when it comes to modern film and television scoring a majority of the attention goes to film scoring and people also talk about star wars A LOT but it is my honest opinion that murray gold is almost certainly the modern soundtrack composer with the largest and most complex body of work on a single franchise. i don't think anybody has done more than a fraction of what he has and certainly he is not getting the recognition for it

Was having some really big feelings about the happy headcanons of the greasers getting out of Tulsa post canon (at least the ones who really want to) versus the more realistic headcanons that none of them are ever able to. At the end of the day though I think the whole point (especially of the musical from what I’ve gathered) is that even if they never make it out they’ll be able to find happiness/contentness/beauty without achieving that dream and I think that’s really beautiful. That’s been one of the biggest takeaways I’ve had from engaging with and analyzing the musical soundtrack and it’s been really important for me personally. Brent talks about this on his episode of The Theatre Podcast, which I just listened to today, so that’s probably helped reinforce my realization. It was really nice to hear him talk about that part of the story.

Clearly the doctor hearing the show’s music must be a new development because if he could hear it this whole time, he would have had to take a minute when Murray Gold’s score first dropped to just smoke a blunt and vibe with it.

I'm so in love with the Outsiders musical cast I never thought I'd ever say this but I would love - not a remake of the movie - but a musical version movie with exactly this cast. The music videos have such a beautiful vibe and the cast is so passionate about the characters.

can’t get ruby’s theme out of my head. might rival clara’s in my list of favourite companion themes, actually (and it’s the only one apart from claras to be diegetic! funny that). twist at the end may not have been grammy-worthy but BOY did he cook with the life of sunday. by all the gods mr gold you’ve done it again

i love that This Is Gallifrey plays in Wild Blue Yonder not when gallifrey is mentioned, but instead when the doctor is talking about a city being built up and falling down around the tardis. it's just such interesting symbolism, particularly in an episode that discusses the timeless child

Considering getting the movie soundtrack off iTunes just because I like movie scores and stuff like that and it just is making me all the more just… salty that the complete novel went “what if we added loud af Elvis and rock so you can barely hear crucial dialogue.”
Didn’t like the original score? Fine. Could you not have just done instrumental 60s rock and … mixed the sound properly then?
