ah christmas, the season of joy or in this case, sadness

christmas was always a celebration each boy hated for their own reason. loss of partners, loss of family, loss of hope and joy, loss of everything. each boy works in the office, secluded from each other, locked in their own respective rooms. there's no trees, no decorations, no happiness, just another day at work. just another typical day in the mafia. but there's a sadness that looms about, heavy in the air.

they used to go all out as kids, obviously secretly because of splinter. and even in the early days of them being teens. they had a secret location and they'd hang all their decorations there. the tree, the tinsel and sparkles, decorations and lights. it was so magical and beautiful. and the gifts would be so special along with stockings. the food and the drinks, the atmosphere, the joy and happiness, all of it was cherished

and once everything was said and done, they would go out with april, casey and vern and they'd all cosy up on a beautiful cabin with the fire. back when they were dating (before the deaths and the drama), everyone would be there. and it'd be perfect, laughter and wine galore. everyone would be wearing the santa hats, the cute accessories.

but now those decor lay in boxes at some warehouse, collecting dust. the tree, the stockings, the lights, everything is there. and sometimes, deep in the night, when the world feels heavy and silent, each of them individually secretly goes back to that warehouse. what could have been, what would have happened if they never ventured down this path, all those what ifs as they look at their childhood. the painful memories of finally being happy and excited during this season was all but ripped out off their hands. and as they walk around the deserted warehouse, it just feels so incredibly difficult to breathe.

perhaps in another lifetime, he would be prepping with his partner and counting down the days to the celebration. perhaps in another lifetime, he would never have known bloodshed and pain. he would be free of the shackles holding him down and finally being able to come together with his brothers like he used to. hand them their presents and watch the smile light their faces warm his heart up.

it hurts especially when he sees what he used to wear around this time the reindeer ears, the hats, the scarves. and his partner, the matching pj's. when he picks up these items, his hands tremble and his heart races. the faint smell of the cologne he used to wear mixed with perfume is enough to tip him over the edge. the blood roars over his ears, clutching the item to his chest wishing so hard he could go back in time and relive the moment over and over.

but he comes down to reality and with a shuddering breath, he closes the lid on these memories. they'll forever be just that, distant recollections that he'll never be able to experience again. he'll never be the same man he was all those years ago.

and with that he takes a step outside, the air slicing his cheeks. but the feeling of this pain is better than the emptiness that consumes his whole. the yearning of his past is locked deep down where it'll stay for another 11 months and on he walks.

Sometimes, life wasn’t as vibrant as it should be in the middle of July.

Your summer vacation has mostly consisted of orange-tinted anger resulting from the excruciating heat that’d turn you red. Living in the city was sometimes difficult to enjoy. Late nights out with friends would result in burrowing yourself in your cave of a room for days at a time. You were happy, there was no mistake. Warmth was present in your life, but there wasn’t anything to cool you off or distract you.

You didn’t really look forward to anything. Currently, you lay in bed, your favorite song blasting thunderingly through your earbuds.

Your phone buzzes.

You turn it over, looking at it, somewhat annoyed because it killed your vibe.

It was your friend Jack. He was one arrogant cowboy, but he could make up for it. Despite his allegory of Whiskey, he didn’t sting. He was collected, gentle, and loving. He was so caring about you, yet carefree about most aspects of life. Jack lived out further from the city, where pavement became dirt and large oaks were placeholders of skyscrapers and bustling people. Another thing you could enjoy – how attentive he was towards you.

You met Jack through your current group of friends during a night out. Since then, he’s practically been there since the start. Every time you spoke, he would pay extra attention to you. The times where he would be grasping your hand and gently swiping his thumb over your palm, looking into your eyes, leaning forward to where he breaks the barrier of personal space – which you never minded – made your heart leap and your entire body tingle with a sensation you haven’t felt since that ridiculous crush in middle school.

Your phone buzzed again, leaving your head and coming back to planet earth.

Jack: Hey, you awake, honeypie?

Acting as if you were an Olympic jumper, you took the biggest leap out of bed to get dressed in your favorite casual wear. Had to make sure it was perfect – by his standards – and he loved you in everything. A little memory dances across your mind; one night he gently grabs your torso and pulls you into him, whispering,

“You are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”

You wore the same outfit as that exact night.

Soon enough, Jack was about 17 minutes early, but neither of you cared. Sprinting from your apartment, you eventually made it into his arms.

“Missed ya, sugar..”

“I missed you too, Jack.” You murmured into the side of his face. He let out a soft chuckle that made your stomach churn and your gut fill with butterflies. He was wearing something slightly more casual – a white tee with blue-wash jeans that complimented his Stetson, tilted up more than usual, and detailed brown boots. He smelled fresh, but you couldn’t place a finger on the scent. It didn’t matter, you were entranced at that point.

Small talk occurs on the way to his Bronco and on the drive back to his place. You were slightly puzzled at the proposal, still. Why did he ask for your company? And nobody else’s?

The wind blows in your hair, but you don’t care. It’s freeing, it feels individual. The heat is barely having an effect on you at this point as all you can feel is euphoria. An arm goes out the window, feeling that same breeze and force push back against it. Clear blue skies remind you of refreshment, not a single cloud to restrain you.

Jack looks over at you, just to steal a quick glance. You feel his eyes on you, but you don’t turn.

The path is familiar – the trees start looking older and the grass is greener on this side.

“Jack, where are we going?”

“Don’t you fret, honey bee. Not anywhere that you wouldn’t like.”

Dusk was approaching gradually, the sun boasts with its presence above the horizon, but it hasn’t captured your attention. The cowboy with the sunken eyes, a plain white t-shirt that’s a perfect size, and the wind disturbing the position of his hat is what has your attention.

Jack hops out of the Bronco with a grunt. You follow in suit on the opposite side.

He flashes a toothy grin, “I figured you would like this. Come, follow me.”

He holds out a hand. Confused, you take it and he practically drags you. You realize that he took you to his ranch, his home.

“This is my beauty–” he whispers, pointing to a majestic-looking white horse with the softest smile you could ever imagine, “get up ‘ere. Lemme help ya..”

Riding a horse with Jack is the most ethereal thing you could ever experience. The way he grabbed you was quite.. sensual, to put it. Sharing laughs, memories, and cheek kisses.

The sun continues to set, now only peaking above the horizon. The purple-ish orange skies captured the moment down to the minute detail.

Courage built up inside.

“Jack, I have something to tell you..”

“Honey bee, I’ve also got somethin’ I’ve been hidin’..”

“Can we say it at the same time?” You mutter with hope, hoping it is what you have to say..

8. favorite band/artist: okay so. here's the thing. I'm notttttt like a big music listener? idk how to describe it haha. like I'll listen to music when it's on and occasionally I'll find a song I'm obsessed with and cling to it (for years tbh) but I very rarely like most of what an artist does and hardly even look that far anyway? I really like podcasts and audio books, and I like to have on like 12 hour ambience videos and classical music for background noise. I like Laid by James and I like a lot of the songs from the new Taylor Swift album (Labryinth and Mastermind and Midnight Rain and Maroon and Great War) and I like Simon and Garfunkel but only their most well known songs that my mom used to play on her Best Of album and I like Reckoner by Radiohead. maybe like 6 or 7 years ago I would've said Of Monsters and Men and like 10 years ago I would've said Florence and the Machine but I don't listen to them much anymore. I'm always open to trying new stuff (if you want to suggest anything) but I just never get into it, idk what's wrong with me!!!! 😬

21. how was my day: it was decent!!! did my little work secret santa and I blushed and stuttered while it was my turn to open my present on our video call bc i am anxious and shy but I got Stranger Things Monopoly (!!) and a throw blanket with Joyce's alphabet lights on it (!!!!) so I'm over the moon about that.

HI HELLO AGAIN!!!

SO irl I don't really have a favorite holiday, but I am a SUCKER for a New Years ship fic, where the pair is together during new years and then OH NO IT'S MIDNIGHT THEY HAVE TO KISS!! gets me every time. As for canon vs modern AU, it's hard for me to pick bc it totally depends on the story being told!!! I would say I prefer modern AUs to be for more silly fics, where you don't want all the baggage of these characters being around for 100s of years. But I really can't pick, I LOVE me a good modern AU!!!

I WOULD SAY if you wanted to make something unique for ME, it would involve the ocean and sea creachers!!! I've worked on the ocean/studied marine biology for the past decade, so any way to incorporate that into your present would make me VERY HAPPY! just no mammals lol (so no dolphins or otters).

All that aside I AM SO EXCITED FOR WHAT YOU COME UP WITH IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO DISAPPOINT ME!!!!

Ahhhh I have like over 25 OUAT fics now?! When did that happen?!

Hmm… I think one of my favorites to write was Firsthand (a Neverland oneshot) cause it felt like the first true OUAT fic I wrote when I got into the fandom and it feels really nostalgic to me because of that :) and I also really loved writing Hell to Pay (Underworld fic), Don’t Let Go (White Out divergence) and Begin Again. Those I wrote out of emotions I was really feeling with at the time (and Don't Let Go was a SS fic so it reminds me of Christmas and the fun I had writing it!) so it’s like I put everything I was feeling into them, and whenever I look back on them it feels like a sort of time capsule in a way. 😁❤️

3. New ideas:

Ahahaha too many! Sadly I have a very serious case of Lack of Muse(TM) going on right now, but I do have a very long list of both half written and unwritten CS stories to write haha. In addition to hopefully finishing Lost and Found in January haha, here’s some:

- a canon divergence where Hook was in Neverland the whole time s1 and s2 were going on and when Henry gets kidnapped and brought there he lands on Hook’s ship and Hook gets the chance to right the wrong he did with Bae

- A Tangled OUAT arc, like, as if the show had done one canonically ;) (obviously imagining they would have gotten Zach Levi to play Flynn). Also imagining a bromance between Flynn/Eugene and Killian😏😆 However I also had ideas of Killian and Flynn adventures in the Tangled world soooo lots of Tangled things? Hahaha

- a story bringing Emma and David closer as father and daughter 🙂

Those are 3 of what looks like 30+ I have here lol but I don't want this to get too long 😂

Christmas is getting nearer~ I guess I need to start freeing up some time to work on your present haha. I am doing fine, excited about Christmas. I always love celebrating it with friends and family. But it also always causes gift stress, ahaha. Do you already have any Christmas plans?

OHH, I so totally agree on Pandora Hearts deserving a new adaption!!! I already noticed you liked Vanitas no Carte but also Pandora Hearts 😁 A fellow Jun Mochizuki fan, it seems. I really love her story writing and art style. I was so happy to finally see Vanitas no Carte adapted. Ah for me it was the other way around I first watched Pandora Hearts and was like: "oh this is a nice story" but I hated that I didn't know how it ended. So I picked up the manga only to realize "damn, the anime was kinda bad".

Because of the bad and/or half adaptions, I started to read more manga than watch anime. I mainly watch anime originals or adaptions of manga I loved and would love to see colored/animated. So yeah compared to watching anime I read more than I watch. Not sure if it qualifies as a lot though.

For the next question: what part of an anime do you find most important? Think of stuff like: art quality, soundtrack, voice acting, true to the source, etc.

Hi! I don't have any christmas plans, I normally spend that day with my whole family but this year is just going to be me and my dog.

I first watched and read vnc and I fell in love with the story and the art style and Noé became one of my favorite characters then I started PH and I loved all the characters and their relationships with each other, my favorite was Gilbert.

I think the most important parts are true to the source and art quality, voice acting too but I think I haven't heard a voice acting that I didn't like in anime.
