time 4 my routine countdown!! 2/5 classes done :3

#quil's unholy underworld #also oh my GOD my exam this morning gave me a heart attack #a solid chunk of the grade involved transcribing speech from video recordings #and they would NOT open in firefox #because they were imbedded #and it wouldn't let me open them in a new tab or window or on my phone #i had to open the test in fucking. microsoft edge to view them #which took me like ten minutes to figure out and i was SWEATING #like oh FUCK i won't be able to see the exam...#anyways. missed 1 question but got it half right so whatever #of the auto-graded section #so i passed even if i fucked all the transcriptions #just gotta wait for those to be reviewed #anyways. gotta go to campus in a hour hopefully that's long enough for my heart to calm from that scare

community college is so funny because half of the teachers are like "For this class you need to use lockdown browser for all quizzes and tests. You need to buy this 70 dollar textbook, and all papers turned in must be in APA format with a title page even if they're only 500 words long. I will not accept late assignments. Also you have a minimum of 4 assignments a week." and the other half are like "you don't need proctoring for the final exam I trust you. here's a download link to a pirated copy of the textbook. as long as your writing is coherent and demonstrates an understanding of the material I literally could not care less what format you use. I can't figure out how canvas works so I'm not giving you due dates, just make sure it's turned in before the grading period ends. your only weekly assignment is a forum post with a minimum of 100 words."

#my favorite teacher so far is still the film history professor I had in my first semester.#he was very old and didn't understand how canvas worked at all and sometimes had trouble opening a video file #but simultaneously he was tech literate enough to recommend we use firefox with an ad blocker #because whenever someone missed class and was like 'where do i go to find the movie' he'd be like 'use an ad blocker and google it'#he said the school made him stop emailing links to free movie sites because people would open them on chrome with no ad block #and there'd be borderline malware on them. like this guy gave me the impression he was like. a veteran movie pirate lol.#that class had barely any assignments. like there wasn't a final exam or anything.#he just wanted us to write a paragraph or so answering a few questions about the movies we watched. it was chill.#and i also learned a lot actually. like i didn't know what a nickelodeon was before then. or the Hays Code.#the movies were genuinely good. i never thought Id be that into old black and white movies or westerns for example but they actually slapped #some of them had really mature themes and i definitely started to understand the people on this website who are like #'if the only media you consume is children's media you should maybe branch out instead of calling steven universe problematic'#because a lot of the movies we watched depicted very 'problematic' things and were able to directly address them because they are for adults #(to clarify I didn't just like kids media before then. i just mean that it introduced me to some older stuff i didn't think I'd like)#(but i ended up liking a lot. it also made me realize that movies made today are kind of shit. which i also already knew)#(but it put it more into perspective because I have more to compare it to)#im rambling now. community college is pretty swag i enjoy it. and i do get along with the teachers who have crazy requirements too lol.

I'm ready to tear my hair out, I want to comfortably use Docs without staring into a flashbang, can someone recommend a functional dark mode for using google docs? All the extensions I've looked at just darken the page and makes the text unreadable so then the whole document has to be edited to change the font (pain in the ass) and/or does not function on the google docs selection page, like the list of my documents is still fuck off bright so it is irritating to move between documents

#kee speaks #i really just want something that is easy click and it does it #cause when i used extensions on chrome there was a 'dark reader' or something but it would change EVERY site i opened #so then it fucked with other stuff and i'd have to toggle it back and forth #exasperating the whole flashbang feeling cause i'd always forget #and the extension had a really stupid automation thing that would get reset every time the extension or the browser updated #whatever i already had a migraine last night and i'm on the verge again but i want to write so i just need some help having things be dark #firefox or chrome i don't give a fuck at this point #i'm so annoyed that this isn't something that is built in to these sites yet #like google settings and search and such can all be dark mode #but not docs or sheets??

#my japanese grammar is decent but my vocab has always struggled #but with a pdf I can lean on my classic tactic of opening in firefox and letting rikaikun or tenten or whatever it’s called take the lead #can use my failed university translation and language education for something that matters #also I know there is a translated pdf out there but this one would be mine (and thus better obviously)

seeing another download firefox post and looking at my chrome windows, then my pc, then my lack of recent freezes as i switched back from having firefox to chrome

#neither program supports win 8.1 but chrone runs it infinitly better #i tend to not turn my pc off often and firefox would throw a fucking fit if i had it open more than 15 hours #and when a tab stops responding it just didnt tell me or let me do anything about it #whereas chrome says hey bestie google sheets is sucking. wanna close it?#and i always go yes blease #and reload the page because that fixes it

Directly install third party non-extension scripts

Use the TV format of YouTube in-browser

Make all chrome extensions compatible with Firefox

Turn YouTube dislikes back on

Fix Twitter and make it way less fucked up

Automatically remove trackers from URLs

Feel free to add any other firefox extensions you think are slept on.

funny side note but crucial context for my Online Presence (ever noticed how the concept of capitalisation, esp combined with the ™️ emoji, has come to represent the marketing and explicit selling of one's self) is that i know my mom found my deviant art profile when i was 16 and so from then on, i just decided that my mother can read anything i say online. extra side note i have been estranged from my family for 11 years, and i can count the amount of times since then i've spoken to my mother on one hand

#i have no reason to believe that she has seen anything from me online from the three times i've washed my presence off the internet entirely #but yknow. you think about it enough times and you just come to terms with it #she had both my deviantart and my tumblr and never mentioned it to me #i only know bc i saw my profiles in her firefox bookmarks lmfao. she also taught me the art of stalking ppl on myspace so we could gossip #listen we're from one of those weird english with afrikaans roots cape families and gossip and stalking is a way of life #the only reason i dont have plans to go home is bc i genuinely was fucked up by the way my mom's family talks about each other in open air #anyway lol im just like whatever. my mom would probably be fine with anything i did even if she cant socially justify why its okay #i have a feeling she may actually feel about me the same way her family does: im like everyone's personal gay best friend #i hope one day i'll know

My nephew was visiting and when I opened up Firefox he was all like "I didn't know people still used that!?"

I told him that thanks to Firefox and Ublock, I never see ads on YouTube. He left saying he needs to install Firefox.

btw if you're on mobile and you want to play a youtube video without ads, download the firefox mobile browser, add the ublock extension, and go to the youtube mobile website from there. firefox mobile will even give you background play and picture in picture if you make the video full screen and then hit the home button, which for both you would usually need youtube premium for even on the app. stay saucy out there! and remember, pirating makes your butt look good
