reading the "night terrors" fic got me all ooey gooey, my heart is melting, can horro get any cuter 🫶😫. he's so heavily neurodivergent coded and your representation gave him justice.
that part where you wrote that social interactions are very tedious for him and that he relies on reader for it, they def know his cues that tells when he's drained for the night. and if he reaches for your fingers? that silent plead? say no more honey, we boutta french exit.
glad you like it! I did project a lil onto Horropi lmfao
also that's very cute! knowing him, he would probably also love to play into whatever scenario/excuse you come up to leave whatever social gathering you're both in
personally, I like to think of Horropi as the type of guy who generally doesn't notice these social cues - if he wants to leave, then he goes "aight bye! got more important things to do" and leaves even if he was in the middle of a conversation with someone else. so if he's starting to get overwhelmed or drained from social interaction, its bc he PHYSICALLY cannot leave
not to say hes ENTIRELY blind to them, his childhood in the Foundation deffo have made him pick up on all the rules of conduct and what they expect of him, especially considering his interactions with Jessica in her event. but when he's not masking for the higher-ups, it's easy to slip - so the reader is usually there to diffuse the situation, should he end up saying something rude that You're Not Supposed To Say Outloud or if he takes ppl's words too literally and all
I also like to think they're very silly and casual about it, like. Tooth Fairy is scolding his ass and the reader is right behind her, trying to mouth or gesture all the right things for say to Horropedia to get out of trouble. theyre just sillies! ! !

ive always wondered what azul's mom's restaurant was like,, in his bday story he says its the most popular in the coral sea, but i wonder what makes in popular in particular. in jade's school uni story, he said that you cant light fire underwater, which makes raw things that fits in their mouths the centerpiece. perhaps the restaurant is like mostro lounge, where its underwater but the whole place is dry. this is backed up by azul's bday where he said that
"There would be lavish decorations, music... and the icing on the cake was the largest table in the restaurant, teeming with all of my favorite food."
which would mean it cant float up. Part of its appeal may be because the food you can get there can be cooked, unlike most of the foods you'd regularly eat, making that restaurant unique. even if it were cooked tho, i wonder if its by fire? jade said that you CANT light fire, and wouldnt he be proven wrong if his long time friend was the child of a restaurant owner who cooked with fire? im also hesitant ab the mostro lounge-like restaurant theory because if it were, how would it work, and wouldnt some merpeople (?) suffocate, making it troublesome?
still, theres probably raw menu items there as well, for ppl who'd prefer it, and it which case theres probably not much you can do to change the flavor, so maybe the ingredients are high-quality? since im doubtful of a dry restaurant for reasons stated above, i dont think the food, cooked or not, would have sauces/or seasoning on it, which really enhances a dish.
the last option i think about for why it may be popular is the type of ingredients/food used/sold. if they can get their hands on food that u cant easily find in the area where the restaurant is
im sorry for making u scroll through this super lengthy ask skdln
NO DON’T BE SORRY, ANON I’M SMOOCHING YOU FOR THIS I’M LOOKING SO HARD 👁👁👁👁👁
I never thought much on the part about the food on the table! That’s a really keen observation. Azul mentions in his birthday story that his whole family can do magic, and his grandmother is especially exceptional at it. Maybe there’s magic that would keep food on the table.
For the cooked food part, that’s very likely!! At the end of chapter 3, in the museum part, Adeuce asks if they can heat things underwater. Floyd replies, “I don’t know, ask Azul about it”, and Azul was about to explain it, but the part ends there. This seems to imply that you can cook food there. Even if you can’t start a fire, there are underwater volcanoes and other geothermal vents to be found. And again, magic exists.
I honestly assumed that the restaurant served land food. Azul is able to tell what ingredients are in a dish just by tasting it alone, so it’s very possible that he was able to sample many kinds of cuisines and dishes. When he sampled the Mystery Drink in his dorm story, he was listing off ingredients that sounded rare and probably weren’t found underwater. Maybe the stepfather had connections to people on land, and through them, they were able to get ingredients from the land. 🤔
I really hope we get a Coral Sea event 😭 I hope we could visit the restaurant and see how it looks like.
