tegan keeps her faith to herself, as a general rule. it's not that she hides that she worships lathander (she'll tell anyone if asked, it's no secret, there's no reason for it to be), but she prefers to keep it private. her relationship with her god is special to her, something she takes comfort in her faith in him, and in the small moments of acknowledgement she's received. :)

Worth It- Pt. 2
Read Part 1
Summary: The reader has a brief encounter with Sean.
Characters: Marcel x black!reader, OMC x black!reader, Klaus x black!reader????
A/N: This part was really fun to write. I hope y’all enjoy it as much as I did to write it. Also, your girl is feeling a bit confident writing for Klaus so more fics with him might be coming soon. Happy holidays!
Tumblr media
“Listen just tell momma and daddy that they either need the get with the program or get left. Because a man as fine as Marcel Gerard is mmph!” Your sister, Bianca emphasized with a chef’s kiss. She was probably the only one in your family, who approved of your relationship with Marcel. Bianca always said love is love and anyone who tries to stop it is just bitter.
“But I do say, you should get a little taste of Sean. Marcel is a refined gentleman, but Sean is hoodnificent! Let him crack that back at least once.”
You stopped gathering the herbs around your shop, to pinch Bianca’s arm for suggesting something so outrageous. “Girl, are you crazy? Marcel will have the boy’s head on a stick, and I don’t even know what he looks like.”
“FIONNNE!” Bianca commented.
Both of you were too busy arguing with each other to hear the door chimes, but the voice that spoke got your attention. “Indeed, Marcellus would have the boy’s head on a stick. I taught him well.”
“Klaus, what are you doing here?”
He lingered around the shop, touching little trinkets, trying his best to intimidate you. “Imagine my surprise when I walk downstairs to see Diego and Thierry knocked out and you missing.” Now he was dangerously close, whispering into your ear, wrapping one your curls around his finger. “I do believe Marcel instructed you that you couldn’t leave the house without supervision.”
“Girl, add him to the list too. I bet he does all types of nasty things in the bed.” Bianca whispered into your other ear.
Klaus maneuvered his head around you to look at Bianca. He was giving her that famous smirk of his. “Would you like to find out?”
You moved in front of your sister to block her view of Klaus, because she would definitely take him up on his offer. “Nuh uh. None of that, you hear me?” You pointed at the two. “Anyway, the reason I ditched the bodyguards is that I have a business to run. A business that is frequented by witches. Witches hate vampires. So, don’t you think two vampire bodyguards, especially two that are Marcel’s best friends are bad for business?”
“Ok, then I’ll stay. I don’t need to suffer through Marcel’s groaning about how you were left unsupervised.”
“Oh no, you’re not! The witches hate you even more!” Your protest went unanswered as Bianca asked about his baby and he proceeded to show her pictures. Both ignored you, so you just went about your business as usual.
Customers would walk in and do a double take once they saw Klaus. Some would try to leave, but Klaus told them to ignore him and some would get over it and listen to him, but with others Klaus had to calmly threaten to remove their head from their shoulders for them to continue to shop. You didn’t know if you should be mad or grateful, but at the end of the day you were still making money.
It was getting close to closing time when a last-minute customer walked in. You were busy stocking the shelves, so you didn’t have a chance to see who it was. “Welcome, we’re about to close in ten minutes, but I can help you with whatever you need.”
You felt a tap on your thigh, and you looked down to see probably one of the most beautiful chocolate men you’ve ever seen. “I need you to get down, cher before you hurt yourself,” said the stranger. Before you could reprimand him for touching you, he put his hands on your hips and pulled you from the shelf.
“Who the hell do you think you are putting your hands on me?” Klaus watched the scene closely but didn’t intervene. He knew you could hold your own and would only get involved if necessary.
“I’m your fiancé,” he smiled, revealing a bottom row of a gold grill. Bianca was right Sean is hoodnificent. His attire was all black accented by gold jewelry. He had on a turtleneck and a gold chain and the Lord knows you’re a sucker for that combo.
Tumblr media
(Sean’s face claim)
You just noticed he had two other witches with him when Marcel, Thierry, and Diego burst through the doors. Sean lifted your hand to his lips, “Until we meet again, chérie.” With a blink of an eye him and the other witches disappear.
“Search the whole damn Quarter! I want him found!” Marcel ordered Diego and Thierry. When his eyes met yours, you knew you were in deep shit. He was at the level of pissed off that he didn’t even acknowledge Bianca or Klaus. He just grabbed your hand, shoved you into the car, and drove to the Mikaelson’s.
“Are you going to talk to me or continue to give me the silent treatment?” You were back at the manor, sitting at the dining table watching Marcel pace back and forth. He hadn’t said a word to you since you were in the car.
Nodding to yourself, you got up to leave. “Ok, the silent treatment. Let me take my black ass home then.”
Marcel moved in front of you and back you into your seat. “You’re not going anywhere.”
“Oh, ladies and gentlemen he talks!”
“Stop fucking trying me, Y/N.” Marcel warned you.
“Stop treating me like a fucking child then, Marcel!” Granted, you didn’t listen to his instructions, but you really tried. You lasted 3 days before you started getting antsy and tired of constantly being followed. Today was the sixth day when you made your escape and you felt that you could finally breath. “I can’t do it Marcel. I’m not meant to be locked up like some criminal.”
“You think that’s what I’m doing? All I’m trying do is save our relationship!”
“Like you do with New Orleans? Trying to stifle me and make me follow your rules? You know why my parents hate the idea of me dating you? Its because you ran the wolves out the quarter and forbade any witch from doing magic! You can’t control people like that. Its not right!”
“And your parents making you marry someone against your will is not the same?” He asked, getting closer to you.
Sneering your face, you replied, “Well, if you weren’t such a power-hungry asshole, they wouldn’t be making me.”
Marcel rolled his tongue around his mouth. “That’s how you really feel, huh? After knowing why, I forbade the witches from using magic?”
You cupped his cheeks, showing the first sign of affection since the incident at your shop. “I get why. You did it to save Davina but know she’s safe and you’re still trying to control everyone. New Orleans does not solely belong to just the vampires, or just the wolves, or just the witches. It belongs to everyone. But everyone is too damn selfish to see that. But hey, do what you gotta do. I’m gonna go to bed if that’s alright with you.”
Before you walked off, Marcel gave you a soft peck to your lips and murmured good night against your lips. No matter how pissed off he was at you, he couldn’t go without telling or showing you that he loved you.
“Now that’s the Queen of the Quarter,” Marcel heard Vincent say. Him and Klaus were standing next to each other, smirking at Marcel.
“How long have you two been listening?”
“Long enough to know that you better smarten up or you’ll lose the lovely Y/N to that witch or to someone more dashing.” Klaus informed him.
He ran up to Klaus and punched him in his jaw. “I’m not in the mood, Klaus.” Klaus got up and chuckle at him, not even mad that Marcel punched him.
“I can’t help it if your girlfriend is so charming.” Klaus teased some more.
Vincent shook his head and got in between the two vamps, before a real fight broke out. “Can you not antagonize him, man? Dude’s already on edge.”
Klaus sidestepped Vincent to get to Marcel. “Nope. Not until he tells us the real reason, he’s so mad.” Klaus circled Marcel, trying to gauge his reaction.
“He’s pissed because Y/N left, plain and simple.”
Raising a finger and ticking his head no, Klaus replied, “No, that’s not it. We all expected Y/N to break out. A woman like that, you can’t keep caged in.” Klaus stopped circling Marcel and stood in front of him, staring him down with a condescending smirk. “I wager the King of the Quarter was upset of the sight he saw tonight. It was but for a fleeting moment, but there, nonetheless. Y/N was intrigued by her witchy suitor. Before he thought of the witch as an annoyance, but tonight proved he might be more competition than he hoped for. Am I right?”
His nostrils flared as Marcel listened to Klaus correctly pinpoint his anger. When Marcel saw Sean’s hands on you and you not being immediately turned off made him worry. Sean was obviously closer to you in age and you both had similar upbringings. But the thing that worried Marcel the most was the one thing Sean could give you that he couldn’t, a baby.
“If I’m not back by the time Y/N wakes up, tell her I’m out doing business.” Marcel informed Klaus. He had to find and kill Sean before he could steal you away from him.

Chapter 13: Questions and A Request
After a few minutes of awkwardly staring at each other, Kenny was the first one to break the silence, much to the relief of everyone there.
"Umm...hi. Do you mind if I study the Yo-kai near you?"
Not really knowing what else they could do, Nate and Katie nodded and with a huge smile on his face, Kenny knelt down to Jibanyan's level and started to carefully examine him as Nathaniel closed his eyes, pinched the bridge of his nose, and sighed.
"Okay, Hovernyan. What did you do this time?"
He said that in a tone that suggested Hovernyan did this sort of thing often, which honestly wouldn't have surprised anyone in the group at this point.
"Well...you were complaining about needing more time to either get rid of the Wicked Yo-kai or actually getting around to making that certain thingy you and Kenny were discussing."
Nathaniel blinked in surprise before glancing at the group, studying them for a few more minutes before finally answering,
"We'll talk at the secret base. Come on, Kenny."
Kenny looked up from studying Jibanyan and muttered,
"Aww..."
Nathaniel pointed at the group.
"You three. Come with us and bring your Yo-kai with you. I have a feeling that some questions will be answered."
Kenny covered his mouth in what was clearly an attempt to hide his excitement at being able to study both Jibanyan and Whisper further, but the spark in his eyes gave away his true thoughts on the matter.
*****
If anyone had asked Nate and Katie how they had imagined today going, they would tell you that they hadn't planned on going back in time, having their butler be threatened by a Yo-kai they couldn't even see or sense, and being led to a secret base by their own grandfathers who were right around the same age as them, but in all fairness, it was a strange day for everyone here.
"Alright, we're here. Don't touch anything. A lot of the stuff in here took forever to make."
The group went into a clubhouse-like structure that was also connected to a treehouse, a combination that would make any kid jealous. Nathaniel pointed to a small section that was lined with cushions and said,
"Sit over there. You're going to be here for a while."
Not really having a better suggestion, they did what he said and went over to the cushions. Nathaniel leaned on his wooden bat and said,
"First question, who are you?"
We didn't think this far! What do we do?!
Trying his best to not look suspicious while he tried to think of something, he looked towards the wrist where his Yo-kai Watch usually rested and an idea suddenly appeared in his head.
Got it!
"Nathan Amano."
Thankfully, Katie seemed to have the same idea as she said,
"Katie Kodama."
"Lucas Hikage."
Nate and Katie weren't quite sure why Lucas gave Nathaniel a false last name as well or where Hikage even came from, but they couldn't really question him about it at the moment. Nathaniel slowly nodded, seeming to accept that, but the look in his eyes implied that he knew that they were keeping something from him.
"Okay, second question. How do you know Hovernyan?"
"He just showed up and asked for our help."
"Actually, that sounds about right. That is something he would do."
"Wait...where's our Yo-kai?"
Nathaniel kept one hand on his pepper bat as he pointed upwards.
"They're with Kenny. My friend just loves any chance to study any new Yo-kai he comes across, especially since..."
Nathaniel trailed off and cleared his throat, trying to act like he didn't forget that he didn't really know these random kids in his secret base that well and that he shouldn't be discussing something very sensitive to both him and Kenny...at least, not yet.
"Well, nevermind about that. Since Hovernyan most likely dragged you all the way out here to the country, the least I could do is give you three something to do for me and Kenny."
*****
While Nathaniel was questioning the kids, Kenny took the Yo-kai to the upper level of the clubhouse. Kenny went over to a planter that was filled with different herbs and had some small pouches in front of them. Kenny picked up one of the pouches and after examining the contents, he dumped out some Bitter Medicine onto a piece of paper and opened the canteen he had been carrying.
"This should help speed up the healing for your scratches."
Whisper just took the Bitter Medicine out of Kenny's hand, quickly swallowed it, and took the canteen being offered to him as he washed down the bitterness of the medicine.
Definitely better than asking one of my companions if I could drain some of their energy to heal, or worse, having disinfectant spray being used on my scratches.
As his scratches healed up, Whisper watched Kenny grabbed one of the many sketchbooks scattered around, opening it to a blank page, and a pencil off of a small desk and started a small sketch of Whisper and Jibanyan.
"Will you answer some questions for me?"
Kenny pointed his pencil at Whisper, who nodded, not really sure what else to do.
"What's your name and what Rank are you?"
"I'm Whisper and I'm a Rank C, Jibanyan is a Rank D, and the-"
"Oh, no. I just need information about you and...Jibanyan, right? I've seen Komasan and Komajiro before."
Whisper and Jibanyan looked at the Koma Brothers, who just looked back at them with a confused expression as Kenny scribbled the information down.
"Tribe and Attribute?"
Whisper pointed to himself and said,
"Slippery and Drain,"
He then jabbed his thumb in Jibanyan's direction and continued,
"And he's Charming and Fire."
Kenny made a few content hums as he scribbled down the information, but before he could ask about anything else, he heard the kids downstairs calling the other Yo-kai down for something.
"Sorry. Our friends need us."
The four Yo-kai scrambled down the ladder and rushed to join the three kids they were traveling with and all seven of them walked off into the distance.
"Maybe they're bounded to them or something...?"
As he pondered this question, Kenny closed his sketchbook and climbed back down to Nathaniel and was surprised to see that Hovernyan was nowhere to be found.
"Wait...where's Hovernyan?"
"Oh, he just left. He said something about wanting to make sure that they knew where they were going or something."
"So, what do you think of them?"
Nathaniel crossed his arms and said,
"Well, they seem nice, but I'm pretty sure they're hiding something."
Kenny hummed in agreement.
"Yeah. They all had a strange aura, but for some reason, two of those auras are similar to ours..."
Nathaniel looked at his friend in surprise, but he knew better than to question him.
"Maybe it's just because they can see Yo-kai like us."
"Maybe..."
*****
Meanwhile, with the main group...
"So, we have to pick up a few things in Springdale?"
"Not the Springdale you're familiar with, but yes."
Hovernyan floated along with them as the three kids told the Yo-kai what they were doing.
"And all of this is so that the Yo-kai Watch can come into existance?"
"Yep."
They came to the area where the bus stop was back in their own time, only for Hovernyan to say,
"I hate to break it to you guys, but the bus doesn't come down here in this time. We have to walk to the train station."
Even though Nate and Katie were used to walking all over town back in their own time, they still couldn't believe what they just heard.
"Are you kidding me?"
"Wait, we have bikes. We can just bike down there."
Lucas raised a finger and said in a sheepish tone,
"Actually, I don't have one...on me, at least."
As much as riding a bike would be easier for them, they really didn't want to make Lucas feel left out, so they all agreed to just deal with it and walk down to the train station. As they walked, Nate asked Lucas the question that was burning in his mind,
"Hey, Lucas? Why did you call yourself Hikage?"
Lucas shoved his hands into his pockets and said,
"Well, if you want the honest truth, I panicked. Even though my powers haven't surfaced yet, my aura isn't exactly very subtle. If I get identified as a member of the Enma bloodline and if anyone finds out that you guys are friends with me, especially in this time period, it's not going to be pretty. You saw the results of what happened when my grandfather passed away and it was because of your intervention that it didn't become a total disaster."
"Yeah, that's true, not to mention the fact that your grandfather is alive in this time period...at least I think so..."
Lucas nodded and hummed in response, confirming their thoughts.
"But why did you choose Hikage?"
"I saw the name in a book once and it was the first name that popped into my head that couldn't be used to decipher the anagram that is my human identity. Where did you two get Amano and Kodama from?"
"Those are the model names of our Yo-kai Watches. Speaking of which, I think we're far enough away to put them back on now."
They stopped to dig out their Yo-kai Watches and slipped them back on.
"Much better."
Soon, they found themselves in front of the train station, amazed with how different things looked in this time period.
"Wait...how much is this going to cost?"
The issue of money had never been brought up until now and that was when the boring lectures about the value of money throughout history they had to sit through in class suddenly came into their heads.
Oh, great...this is going to be more difficult than we expected.
"Oh, don't worry about that. With a little Yo-kai magic, your financial worries will be a thing of the past, no pun intended."
They wanted to question Whisper about what he meant about the financial thing, but they didn't want to sit through another money lecture, especially since they needed to get a few things done.
"Hey, Hovernyan? When we're done with this, how are we going to get back home? Do you have another Time Stone we can use?"
"No, I only had the one Time Stone and that was only because I lost something that would've made this whole thing a lot simpler."
Hovernyan pulled out a Yo-kai Medal out of his cape and flipped it like a coin. When the Yo-kai Medal hit the ground, a large, purple, three-parted mirror appeared in it's place.
"Hello, Hovernyan. It's great to see you again! I see you have some new friends with you as well!"
Hovernyan gave a hearty chuckle and turned to the group.
"This is Miradox, the result of Mirapo being fused with Espy. You can travel through him like a Mirapo, but you are also able to travel to other times with him. Just say the word and you can easily travel with him back and forth through time. He's generally a friendly Yo-kai, so unless you managed to make him mad at you, he'll easily give you his Yo-kai Medal."
"It's that simple?"
Miradox nodded as well as a mirror could nod and handed Nate his Yo-kai Medal.
"Thanks, Miradox!"
"No problem! Just summon me when you wish to return to your time!"
"Wait...you know we're not from this time period?"
Miradox grinned and laughed.
"Of course! I know everything when it comes to time and space!"
While they knew better than to question the talking mirror, the kids couldn't help but wonder if Miradox was aware that his tone made him sound like he was trying to mess with them.
"Well, it was nice to meet you, Miradox, but we have stuff to do."
Miradox smiled and disappeared in a puff of purple smoke.
"Well, let's get going, everyone!"
After paying for their tickets, they boarded the train and headed to the Springdale of the past.

My super nutritious bad mental health lasagna recipe
I’ve seen a lot of really weird recipes, and bad food and eating advice on this site, and I know a lot of you guys are at University and maybe cooking for yourselves for the first time, and in some cases dealing with shitty mental healthy stuff at the same time, and it’s really easy to just live on junk food (I know, I’ve done it, and it’s definitely better than not eating). But cooking is great, and eating real food is great, so here’s your big sib Sapphy with one of my favourite easy (really easy, not TV cooking show easy) healthy recipes.
Today’s offering is my courgette & lentil lasagna recipe, which I promise is a lot yummier and a lot less health-food tasting than that sounds. It’s very easy to make, but does take some time. On the plus side, it contains 95% of your 5 a day in each serving, so it tends to be something I make when I have one good mental health day in a run of shitty ones, or after a period of eating really badly (like, say, after Christmas). It can be done in stages, if you can only muster a bit of energy at a time, it’ll keep well in the fridge or freeze fine, and most importantly, it makes a bucket-load so once you’ve done this, you’ve got something healthy and tasty that only needs microwaving. It also feels like a real achievement to make, even though it’s very simple, which can be a big mental health boost for me in the bad times. Plus, one helping of this is most of your veg for a day, so you don’t need to feel bad if everything else you eat is toast and cup ramen.
It makes 10 portions, which is what I’ve used for working out the calories etc (which I’ll list at the bottom), and costs between £1.15 and £2.10 per portion, depending on what goes in it and where you shop.
If you want less, just half the amounts, or double them if for some reason you need 20 portions of lasagna (I’m not going to judge).
Recipe below the cut. Give it a try!
Equipment
A large saucepan
A sharp knife and chopping board (if you have issues using knives for motor or mental health reasons, you can use frozen ready chopped veg)
A large deep baking dish or roasting tin
A wooden spoon or spatula
A vegetable peeler (you are going to need this, unless your knife skills are amazing and you have hours of free time)
A hob and oven (or you could probably put it under the grill if you have one but no oven)
A medium sized mixing bowl or anything else of a similar size (small oven dish, saucepan, big plastic lunchbox, whatever)
A cup (the drinking kind, not the measuring kind)
Ingredients
I know this looks like a terrifyingly long list, but there’s nothing weird or hard to find, and the only prep any of it needs is chopping, so don’t be scared
Oil or butter (about 2tbsp of oil or 1 slice from a standard pat of butter)
2 onions (red for preference)
2 small / 1 large head of garlic (if you can hold it in your clenched fist it’s small, unless you have very big hands)
4 (bell) peppers (red, orange or yellow for preference, as they’re sweeter than green)
1 aubergine / eggplant
2 medium sized carrots (travel size hairspray it’s too small, size-queen bottom drawer it’s too big)
2 or 3 sticks of celery (if you’re not likely to cook again in the next week, or if money is tight, leave this out as it doesn’t keep and you can’t buy it by the stick)
400g - 500g mushrooms (chestnut are the tastiest, but normal white ones will be fine
3 medium courgettes / zucchinis (bigger than the carrots, but if it’s getting into scary sex toy size, it’s too big. Big ones aren’t as dense textured, so they won’t work as well for this)
250 - 300g dried lentils (puy are the tastiest, but they’re expensive and hard to find, so I usually use the little red ones which are very cheap and perfectly good)
2 tins chopped tomatoes
187ml red wine (optional - this is the size of those little individual size bottles you get in the supermarket. Alternatively half a normal bottle. Don’t worry about getting the good stuff, you really won’t know the difference so get something cheap and/or alcohol free)
Tomato puree (optional)
Dried mixed herbs
2 vegetable stock cubes (or those little knorr jelly pots if you prefer, which I do. If you haven’t got vegetable, chicken or beef will be just as good - any flavour except fish, basically)
100g - 150g fresh spinach (you can’t use frozen for this, so if you can’t get fresh, just leave it out)
2 x 170g tubs of reduced fat soft cheese (I use a mix of philly light garlic & herb and philly lightest, but one 300g tub of tesco basics soft cheese will do. You can’t use cottage cheese for this though, it will split)
2 eggs (it doesn’t matter what size, but if they’re huge ones, use just one)
Grated parmesan (or cheddar if you’re on a budget)
150ml single cream (or double, or whipping, or just a few splashes of milk if you’re on a budget)
Method
A quick note before we start: I’ve broken this down into small steps, and assume that you’ll want to chop everything in one go before you start. If you’re happy to be standing in the kitchen chopping and stirring at the same time, they by all means chop things as you go - in that case your order should be onions, celery, carrots, garlic, mushrooms, aubergine, peppers, (based on how much frying they need). You can stop and leave this at the end of any step if you’re getting tired or overwhelmed, just remember to turn off the stove.
Peel or wash your mushrooms and carrots. Remove the skin from your onions, then dice the onion, celery & carrot as small as you like. Remove the skin from your garlic, and slice all but three or four of the cloves. Set the whole ones to one side. Now dice your aubergine, mushrooms & peppers, and set them to a different side.
Put your pan on a high heat, and add your oil or butter. Add the onion, celery, carrot and chopped garlic, and fry until the onion starts to go clear, 5 to 10 minutes. Don’t worry if your onion crisps up a little, but keep stirring to stop the garlic burning. (If you can’t stand for long periods, use a low heat, cover with a tight lid and allow the onions to steam cook in the oil until clear, around 15 minutes).
Stir in a good squeeze of tomato puree and a couple of generous pinches of the dried herbs. Now add your other veg, stir it through well, turn the heat down to medium-low, and allow to fry for ten to fifteen minutes, stirring once to stop it sticking.
Add all the chopped tomatoes, your stock pots or crumbled stock cubes and wine. Fill your empty tomato tins with water and add that (i.e. 800ml water). Now they’re nice and clean and ready to be recycled. Put the lid on and allow to stew for half an hour, but check on it every ten minutes if you can. You want a fairly dry mixture as the spinach & courgette will release liquid, but it burns easily, so if you need to take half an hour to just sit, add another tin of water. Keep the kitchen door open so you’ll smell if it burns. (If it does catch, be careful not to stir the burnt bits into the mix. As long as they’re stuck to the pan, the food won’t taste burnt and you can scoop out the good bits). The lentil mix will keep for 3 or 4 days in the fridge.
While that’s stewing (or at another convenient time) prepare your ‘lasagna’ and topping. Cut the woody bits of the top and bottom of your courgettes, then using a vegetable peeler, peel the courgettes into strips lengthways. You’ll be left with a thicker strip eventually. Depending on your peeler this might be thin enough that it doesn’t matter, but if it’s a lot thicker than the others, just dice it and add it to the lentil mix.
Roughly chop your spinach (it’s easiest to do this a handful at a time), or if you’re not using knifes, just tear it up. Put it in your bowl, and add the soft cheese and cream. Finely chop the cloves of garlic you set aside earlier, and add those. Crack one of your eggs into the cup (tap it firmly on the side of the cup to make a decent size crack in the shell then use your fingers to carefully prize the shell open over the cup. If you get shell in it, just pick it out with your fingers or a spoon) and add it, then do the other. (We do them one at a time into a cup to make sure none of them are bad. It’s much cheaper to throw out a bag egg than it is all your spinach and cheese. You can tell an egg is bad from the smell - if it smells rotten, it’s rotten, simple). Remember to wash your hands at this point if you’ve touched the raw egg, and wipe up any spills with disinfectant. Stir your cheesy, eggy spinachy mix, and add a pinch of mixed herbs and a little salt and pepper (if you’re using parmesan, you only want a tiny bit of salt, because the cheese is salty). If you’re stopping at this point, remember to cover the bowl with cling film and put it in the fridge. It’ll keep happily for a day as long as you keep it chilled.
When you’re ready, you can begin assembling. Lightly grease the bottom of your baking dish or tin. (You can use an oil spray if you’ve got one, you can rub kitchen paper or grease proof paper on butter, or you can hold a folded up piece of paper over the opening of a bottle of oil and turn it upside down for a second, like you would with nail varnish remover. Then rub your oil or butter over the bottom of the pan. You only need a tiny bit, just to stop it sticking.) Arrange a single layer of courgette slices in the bottom of the pan. Spoon over half your lentil mix (or as much as half fills the pan if you’ve got too much). Top that with half your remaining courgette slices, arranged to create an even covering, then spoon over half your eggy cheesy spinach mix. Add the remaining lentil mix (or fill your pan to about a centimeter from the top). Top with the remaining courgette slices, and cover with the spinach mix. Sprinkle over grated parmesan or cheddar. If you need to, you can now cover this and put it in the fridge for a day, but all that’s left is to bake it.
Turn your oven to a medium heat (about half way round the dial is how I do it). Don’t worry about preheating it. Put your lasange on a sturdy shelf, or on the bottom of the oven. If your dish is very full, put some oven-safe foil underneath it to catch any liquid that boils over. Leave to bake for 40 minutes.
