Two New Worms I got yesterday w/my friend. $60 for both of em. Total steal. A regular male corn snake, his name is Frank’s Redhot Buffalo Wing Sauce(mild). Or Frank for short.
The other is a Anerythristic Kenyan Sand Boa. His name is Gonzo, his face makes him look like a muppet. I can’t hold him, he’s tooooo nervous and I don’t feel like stressing him out too much.

Hi!! I was wondering if you had any recommendations for corn snake morphs that are grey and yellow? The closest I’ve found is caramel but I’m not very well researched. Thank you so much!!
I'm sorry to tell you that this is a bit of a tough (but not impossible!) order, my friend, and I'll explain why:
Corn snakes have three main pigment types: melanin (black), erythrin (red/orange), and xanthin (yellow). Most of the known color morphs will affect one or more of these pigments but they tend to be interrelated, so masking or removing one will often affect the others to some degree, and xanthin seems to be the first to go in many cases.
Most morphs are going to reduce or eliminate melanin (Amel, Hypo, Lavender, etc.) and/or enhance erythrin (Strawberry, Lava, Sunkissed) so you're going to be hard-pressed to find a morph combo that retains melanin without washing to brown but also eliminates erythrin while maintaining xanthin.
The Anerythristic A morph (aka Anery) removes erythrin and masks xanthin. Grey snake, but no yellow. Some adults will get yellow in the neck area but it won't be full body.
The Caramel morph, which you've already found, enhances xanthin and reduces melanin and erythrin. Brown snake.
There are other morphs and a potential selectively-bred yellow enhancement that you might explore that could accomplish what you're hoping for, but you'll be at the whim of breeders who, quite frankly, aren't likely to be focusing on this particular color combo.
For possible morphs that might fit your aesthetic, you could look for high-yellow Caramels, selectively bred Miami or Okeetee Caramels, Caramel Kastanie, or a morph called Dark Yellow which is a combination of Scaleless, Caramel, and Anery. I've also heard of a yellow-enhancing trait called Yellow Coat but I've never seen it and I don't know if it was a fluke, a selectively-bred trait, or a genuine recessive gene that has just fallen off the radar due to lack of popularity.
I would advise to look at adult photos and disregard baby photos, as baby coloration almost never stays the same. You might find that a muddy brown or grey baby corn snake grows into a gorgeous yellow and dark grey adult.
I wish you the best of luck in your search and if you can't find exactly what you're looking for, perhaps you can work with a breeder to launch a project, or if you have the resources you can start one yourself!

So... you remember me talking about maybe getting a snake the other day? Well, guess who just arrived home.
Tumblr media
He's a wee bootstring right now and the photo doesn't really do him justice because he's always on the move but he's an Anerythristic corn snake (confirmed male) and the first thing he did when the owner put him in my hand was nom my finger very gently. I was so tempted to get the Palmetto BUT didn't know they had a genetic default known as bug-eyed. 😔 Very gorgeous snake and the owner showed me the father but in the end, my heart chose the anery (or rather, his mouth chose me!) Not quite the ball python I was intending to get but since it's been so long since I've had a snake, I'll hold onto this wee danger noodle for now to make sure I can take care of him! Managed a quick journey home but now he's sitting inside a nice warm cave, chilling. When he's settled in a bit, I'm going to spoil the fuck out of him with some little plants and so on but for now I'll let him destress. Haven't picked a name yet but... maybe Rorschach? Because he'll grow up to become black and white. :D

this is a wild question but: how do you tell the difference between a corn and rat snake that aren’t based off color?
long story short I got a snow corn as a baby from a crappy petsmart. I’ve had her for five years, spent the first two years regularly handling her, and to this day she’s incredibly temperamental. she tail-buzzes, hisses, bites and musks when I try to handle her. she also needs a humidity box to shed properly while my corn snake has never had any issues (with 40-50% humidity) and has never had any problems with feeding.
I highly doubt I got a snow rat snake from a petsmart for $60 but it seems strange a captive bred corn snake with no health issues would be this feisty.
Cornsnakes are ratsnakes! Cornsnakes - Pantherophis guttatus, also called red ratsnakes - belong to the genus of North American ratsnakes. Corns are generally smaller than other North American ratsnakes, and tend to be more docile.
There is every chance that your girl is just unusually defensive and a bit more sensitive when it comes to shedding. Unfortunately, snakes from chain pet stores - like PetSmart - often come from breeding farms, and they can be barely a step up from wild-caught. That can include temperament issues that you wouldn't expect to see in captive-bred corns.
Okay, the meat of your question - how do we know if your girl is a cornsnake? The best ways are tricky, because she's a snow, but there are ways to guess.
Snow cornsnakes tend to yellow out as adults. They'l be pinkish as hatchlings and fade out as adults, and always have red eyes. If your girl has yellowish stripes or markings, she's 100% a cornsnake.
Tumblr media
Snow (and snow-like, snow is a combination of albino and anerythristic type A, it's a very corn-specific morph) morphs in other ratsnakes are rare. If she was another ratsnake being sold as a snow, I'd expect her to actually be leucistic, and be pure white with light eyes.
Tumblr media
Take a look at her scales. Cornsnakes tend to have extremely weak keels on their scales - a keel is a raised line in the middle of the scale. A cornsnake's scales look smooth at first glance, and you can only spot the keel if you're looking for it.
Tumblr media
Other North American ratsnakes tend to have much stronger keels that you should notice immediately.
Tumblr media
If your girl has strongly keeled scales - or even keels that are immediately noticeable - she's probably not 100% cornsnake.
Odds are, you've just got a firecracker on your hands. Poor breeding can lead to snakes with extremely defensive temperaments. I would double-check with your vet to make sure nothing's up - if she's sick, that could impact her shedding as well as her temperament.
All the best, hope this helped! :)

I can tell you love Helios a lot! Have you ever had any other kinds of pets?
Ah thank you!! He’s the most important lil guy in my life. I had a betta fish named squirtle when I was 5 and a corn snake (Noodle!!!) when I was 7! My mom put Squirtle in a big tank and let me “help” with the water testing and everything. I loved watching her rest on her leaf hammock, just the cutest thing ever. Noodle was the first time I’d ever had a snake!! She was anerythristic (lacking the red/orange pigment) so she was a really neat brown. I loved holding her and seeing her explore my hands and everywhere around us. I miss Noodle.

Look I try to be a good snake mom and provide lots of hides and enrichment that are big enough for a growing corn, but this little bastard insists on cramming into a literal piece of trash that he is barely small enough to fit in. Why creature. Why.

I have successfully introduced snakes to 3 of the local kids and most of the adult neighbors. The kids are pleased and the parents are suprised a snake can be so well mannered. Loving spreading kindness to animals not everyone likes.
