If we really understood and remembered that life was impermanent, we would do everything we could to make the other person happy right here and right now. If we spend twenty-four hours being angry at our beloved, it is because we are ignorant of impermanence.

what Is a living being?
[Two articles by Ajahn Amaro discussing the Buddhist meaning of Rebirth and related truths]In the Theravāda Buddhist world, the Sutta on Loving- Kindness is one of the best known, best loved, and most often recited of the Buddha’s discourses.     Wishing: In gladness and in safety,     May all beings be at ease.     Whatever living beings there may be;     Whether they are weak or strong,…

"When we see a wave on the ocean that is smaller than another wave, do we think that the smaller wave failed at life, that it didn’t try hard enough, that it should have done better, that it is not worthy of existence? Or do we recognize that the size and force of each wave is a happening of nature—that an infinite web of causes and conditions produces each particular movement in the ocean—that there is no “self” inside the wave that can be blamed for being smaller? We know that in nature, some waves are smaller than others. We don’t give it added meaning. And it’s easy to see that all the waves—big or small—are equally water, equally ocean—and that there are no actual boundaries between the different waves—they are one whole waving movement. But when it comes to human life, we apply a very different kind of evaluation. We insert the imaginary self, the phantom operator, and we think we are truly separate and on our own, to be blamed for our failures and praised for our successes.” — Joan Tollifson #Anicca #Shunyata #Śūnyatā #Anitya #Advaita (at New Haven Zen Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ci2NMR5uAwr/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

do you ever think about the impermanence of life? because i do it a lot.
like, when messi went to psg it took him 8 (😭) games to score. meanwhile, ronaldo was doing great at mc united and everything i saw was people saying messi "was over" and the other guy was the real goat and all that jazz we already know in sports tribalism now, messi is a world champion and is doing great at psg while ronaldo ended up without options (a lot of it because no one could afford the amount of money he wants, let's be honest), alone and out of the greatest leagues look how the world turns...

Liberation Here and Now, by Ayya Khema
Buddhist meditation: 'Liberation Here and Now', by Ayya Khema http://wp.me/pFy3u-1ot
When we hear or read the word ‘liberation’ (nibbana), we often get the idea that it is unattainable, otherworldly, reachable only by spiritual giants, and that it has very little to do with us. We do not have to look at it that way. Let us consider the three kinds of liberation—’signless’, ‘wishless’, and ‘voidness’ liberation. Signless liberation is attained by completely penetrating…

As time goes by
So grateful to be alive. Danke für dieses Leben, all die Schönheit und Wunder. Danke für all die Liebe, und auch den Schmerz der mich mein Herz fühlen lässt, wissend wie sehr ich die Welt liebe.
Just know, it won't last forever. Nothing lasts forever. ANICCA

“Every evening, an hour before the sun goes down, I walk toward its light, wanting to be altered. Always in quiet, the air still. Walking up the straight empty road and then back. When the sun is gone, the light continues high up in the sky for a while. When I return, the moon is there. Like a changing of the guard. I don't expect the light to save me, but I do believe in the ritual. I believe I am being born a second time in this very plain way.” - The Light Continues by Linda Gregg #bangalorediaries #home #belonging #lightseeker #reflection #healing #silentstories #hope #anicca #moon #nightscape #lindagregg (at Bangalore, India) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cqa1tZmSUHM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

By Ajahn Amaro The translation of terms can be very interesting, especially out on the borders where words expire. I remember years ago looking in the glossary of a collection of Vedanta teachings. Where the Sanskrit had a one-word term, the English explanation was a paragraph long. In refined areas of consciousness, English is pretty impoverished. Our language is great at emotions. We’ve got…
