When Anna Zedra accepted the job as junior engineering at RedBull racing, she never thought that a job on the navy blue team would also give her a boyfriend. A boyfriend who used to drive for the infamous red team. A boyfriend who wanted so bad to be world champion but who could never won on that team. Everything started in 2022, middle of the season, pole and no win. And again. And again. And it started to get exhausting. Until Austria. Charles won on Redbull ring, and he thought it would be different. But it wasn't. As the season went on, Christian and the entire team were keeping an eye on his performance. RedBull offered a 2 years contract, they would pay him out of Ferrari, he didn't signed. But Charles had kept that contract in his drawer for the most part of the 2023 season, until COTA, and after that disastrous race, he called Christian, and that called lead to a meeting and a meeting lead to the Brazilian GP, who leads to the cover of all the sports magazine "Charles Leclerc signs with RedBull Racing for the 2024 season."

When Anna Zedra accepted the job as junior engineering at RedBull racing, her podcast was already a success into the motorsport. The All About Racing was an informative podcast who almost every month received a new guest. The 2022 season was marked by almost everyone making an appearance on the podcast. Max, Daniel, Christian, even Lewis Hamilton agreed to be on one of the episodes - and it was one of the most streamed episodes of the platform.

When Charles and Anna started to see each other, during the 2023 Italian GP, he was yet under Ferrari contract, but every once in a while he made a comment here and there about wanting to be on the podcast. Once the 2024 season started, and Anna was designed as his race engineer, and he was announced as the second driver of the team, they made a deal, they would record the episode after the first race and it would be released after his first win of the team. Charles wasn't expecting to win so soon, but he claimed his firts victory at the Saudi Arabia GP, he won the race with 15s to second place. So the podcast was aired during the middle of the night, because a deal is a deal.

Anna: Hello everyone and welcome back to All About Racing, just for a little announcement, this podcast was recorded on the march 2nd, right after the Bahrein Grand Prix and as you know, our guest for today episode is no one else but Charles Leclerc. Welcome, Charles, thank you so much for being here today. I know how it went, but tell us, how it went qualy and the race?

Charles: Hello Anna. Thank you for having me and lets pretending you had a choice on that *laughs* Qualy went very well for the team, first qualy with RedBull and we had a 1-2 for the team, Max did an amazing lap on q3, but I'm very happy with the results, the car feels amazing and I'm very proud of my lap as well. The race was very good as well, the car is incredible reliable and it felt amazing to be on that podium. Aiming the highest spot nex week

Anna: Im very happy to listen that the car feels nice, I spend a lot of time working on that project. Adrian Newey learned everything he knows from me. Jokes a part, I know your dream was to win with Ferrari, for your dad, for Jules, for your young self, so how does it feels to move to RedBull after 5 years with Ferrari?

Charles: I mean... it was a tough call. I always wanted to drive for Ferrari, win on the red car, put a flag in Maranello, and in some level I did those things, I won with them, I was very happy in Monza in 2019, and I had some very incredible moments with the team and the tifosi and all related. My dad would be so happy for me to drive for them, I wanted to keep Jules legacy alive and so far being compared to him is still the most amazing thing I could ever experience. But it came a moment that I knew that I couldn't do more than what I was already doing, the car was very difficult to drive and it didn't suited my driving style and a lot of bad stuf kept happening and slowly it was killing me, it was killing my faith in myself and I wasn't believing in me, or the driver I am. It hurt a lot the moment I decided to leave, not to wear red in Monza or not to recieve the tifosi love... I thought it was over, if I wasn't a Ferrari driver I thought I would be no one. And then Christian and I we talked and I signed that contract and I drove the RB20 and everything clicked, Christian let me do something that I don't think is pretty common, but earlier this year I went on a private practice with the last 2 RBR cars, and I remember, like, feeling the car and suddenly the driver I am was awaken again, and I felt my confidence again and it just made sense. After the announcement I was so afraid of what the tifosi would say to me and I was so surprised of the amount of love I kept receiving. Yeah, I am no longer a Ferrari driver, I was for 5 years and I loved being part of the red team, but it came a point of a driver career that we need to make the choices which are better for our inner driver, not just ourselves. And I am immensely happy with RedBull, with the car and the team and everything.

Anna: Wow, that was very deep, you and I we alredy had this same conversation but is still very warming to listen to all of that again and to know that you are happy with the team, we are also very happy with you wearing navy blue. You said you're very happy and all, but walk us through your relationship with Max and how beeing teammates is working so far. We are insanely happy that there was no inchidents on the race.

Charles: *laughs* Oh my God, you'll never gonna let go, are you? Max and I we became pretty close om track during late season of 2019 and of track in 2022, we spent a lot of time playing padel and tennis and alson on the sim. We drive pretty much the same way, so it is very easy for the team to build a car that suits us both. During the race today we spend solid 25 laps fighting for position, he is way more used with the car than I am, so he won that one, but I am coming for him next race, there was no incidents and I'm pretty positive we will keep this way. We work fine on track, and Christian made us swear that whatever happens on track, stay on track.

Anna: Well done. No more inchidents, I see. There's people making comments on twitter and instagram about teams orders and first and second driver... what do you have to say about it?

Charles: No team orders, Max and I are free to fight as long as there's no risk of compromising each others position or the team, if theresa risk whomever is faster will get priority and the slowest will defend. Choosing a first and second driver is very good for car development, but considering that our driving style is very close there's no need to chose in which direction the car will go, whatever suits Max will most likely suit me as well. Obviously, as the season will developing, if theresa risk or a driver coming very close in points, the one who has more point will get priority as well, which is fair. And Max and I we are definitely not allowed to pull a Baku 2018 or a Spain 2016.

Anna: As a engineer and e RedBull employee I was already very familiar with that. You seems to be very close to a few drivers, how do you think being this close to others drivers helped to improve your driving skills?

Charles: I didn't have the amount of teammates Lewis had, for example, but I was teammate with Seb for 2 seasons and it was such a great experience to learn from him, to be close, to see how he thinks and how he matches with the car and all of that helped me a lot on how I would connect myself with the car as well, I've learned to be patient, to trust my institution and principally understand how the car is working and how to merge with a car who does not suit me 100%. When I signed with RedBull I called my mom, obviously and Seb was the second person I've called and I remembered exactly what he told me all the years we raced together, to not to waste my talent. I'm very close to Lewis as well, we went surfing last year and we have a lot in common, as drivers and as human beings. Not ironically, Jenson Button was around during last year and we've spent some time together as well, I was trying to learn how to be more smooth and he told me not to do that, because the way I drive today is the way I've learned how to drive and that's what gives me speed.

Anna: Lately we all have been talking about woman in formula one, it is another of our conversations so i already know all your thoughts but the audience doesn't, so please, elucidate us with your thoughts.

Charles: I don't think it should have this separation between man and woman in motorsport, it is not like they can't tolerate the conditions of a track you know? I think with F1 academy we are miles closer to have a woman in F1 than we were a few years ago but we are also miles away from it. One, I don't think there's a lot of teams who would "take the risk" and two I think for the comments I've read online that it isn't fair for any woman to have to deal with that, you know? Not performing well is a shot in the ego and all this comments put together is harmful. I watch volleyball, it is a strange habit that I've developed with Jenson because his wife is a volleyball player and those girls are playing two and a half hours match, they're running all the court, they're jumping and throwing themselves on the floor and like the gym time? Insane. Tennis as well, there's a few matches that are hours long and they are playing high level tennis and tennis is a very aggressive sport... so like I don't think the "woman doesn't have the physical to formula one" because it is not true. F1 is still a very exclusive sport, especially if you bring sponsors and teams are not comfortable of letting money go, there's 20 of us, soon to be 22 or 24 if Porsche and Audi make it and there's nothing on regulation that prohibits woman in F1, it would be very nice if one of those new teams go for a woman line up. RedBull last year had a reserve driver who performed amazingly, it was like she could see physically the track, the lines and kerbs. I'm all for woman in motorsport, Max and I we went to a girls karting track in Germany during the winter break and they are very talented.

Anna: Race weekend after race weekend I saw people on twitter talking about how they think you are not a F1 champion material, how you should be more vocal about what you want... everything someone who never been inside a F1 car could tell about it. How do you keep you mentality strong? We all know that you can perform under pressure. You won in Monza with 2 Mercedes pressuring you, you won in Austria with a throttle issue. You won your F2 championship after your dad passed away, you kept going for Jules... that's all very different of the kinda of pressure every other driver suffered during their careers.

Charles: I mean, I don't have to prove myself anymore. I impressed who I had to impress, I won a F3 and F2 championship. I'm here. I'm driving a F1 car every sunday. I've won in Formula One, so there's no one else that I have to impress anymore. I'm not calling the team out on the radio during a race, I don't think that's how you fix things, and I think it is the kind of thing that you talk privately with your team behind garage doors. I'm the one who's driving, the team is the one who have tha data, the difference between the car in front of me and the car behind me, the window we have to pit, the tyres we can use and the omes that makes the car performs better. The team needs to have their best interests to maximize the points on that weekend. It is not my job to do more than drive. But one thing is for sure, I'm the one who's driving, who's feeling the car, and once I tell the team that pitting for hards is a bad choice and that we need to pit for medium, because I am feeling the car, and they don't listen to me, that's out of my hands. I'll take full responsibility for my own mistakes. Imola in 2022? It was on me. France 2022? It was my fault. I'll take that, I accept that and I'll learn with those mistakes and I will do better the next time. Just because I don't scream on the radio and expose the team to the media it does means that I will not call them out privately. And people talk about it because they are not the one who is inside that cockpit.

Anna: You've been doing your job brilliantly. Everyone who truly understands F1 knows that, you wouldn't be driving for Ferrari in your second year if you weren't a good driver. Or for RedBull, and God knows the amount of years we were waiting for this to happen.

Charles: It is happening now. And about my dad and Jules... I was doing my job, I mourned my father after that race, I've cried and I've missed him ever since, I kept going for him and for the legacy Jules was building in F1. I had to prove myself to them, and to my mom. People can say whatever they want to, and if they think they know more about strategy and power units and stuff they can apply to work in F1. I like the pressure. I think it makes me a better driver. Winning when there's no one challenging you it not my type of victory. I like being challenged, that's why I liked being Seb's teammate. He was 4 times champion of the world, he knew he was good, I knew it too, but he never backed down to a challenge.

Anna: I miss Seb. I think deep down we all miss him more than we let him see. Do you think that because of the challenges you and Max will perform better?

Charles: Max is coming for a season and a half without competition. He was winning with 15 seconds to the second place, and every time we fought wheel to wheel tha past season we talked after and it was such a thrill. Our driving style being so close makes it very possible for us to fight the way we like, so yeah, I think the pressure to perform well and the challenge to win Max will make me a better driver.

Anna: Do you have any funny story to tell us about?

Charles: I have one about you and Max. Fun fact, untill December last year Anna didn't knew how to drive. Max tried to teach her and I think that for the first time in his life he failed miserable. I remember trying to teach you how to drive and failing as well. But there's one day that is very clear in my mind. We just got back from Interlagos 2022 and we went to a small city in Sao Paulo so I could teach you and the car kept dying, so you stormed out of the car and called Seb crying, and you were crying so hard that I almost started to cry as well. We went back to Monaco, a few weeks latter Seb pulled out in front ou your house, Jenson Button as his co-pilot and they take the matters in their own hands and for a week you went out for like 5 hours and once that week was over you were a better driver than I am.

Anna: Well, asking you to teach me how to drive was a amateur mistake, you don't know how to park parallel. But yeah, Seb and JB they were excellent teachers. Thank you Seb. Thank you JB.

Charles: How did you have a drivers license if you didn't know how to drive?

Anna: Having a drivers license doesn't imply that I know how to drive, just that I've learned what to do to pass my drivers test. How do you drive a F1 car and doesn't know how to drive a manual?

Charles: I'm re learning, ok? You are the one with the eccentric taste for manual cars.

Anna: Obviously, it took me ages to learn how to reduce a gear, why would I drive an automatic if the automatic doesn't have to switch gears?

Charles: You have a point. And yet you are doing great on the automatics.

Anna: Let's move to my least favorite subject ever, personal life, people are wondering, is Charles Leclerc on the market?

Charles: *laughs* No, he is not. I'm very much out of the market, and very much in love with a beautiful and strong and smart woman and even though she's not the jealous type I not looking anywhere else.

Anna: Walk us through on how you two meet?

Charles: Yeah, it is very funny actually, we meet after Austria, 2022 but we only started to hangout after Monza last year, she's very into motorsport and formula one and a very private person, so please, let's respect that.

Anna: People on twitter are thinking that she is a ghost because we never saw her on race weekends, I'm inclined to agree with them, Charlie.

Charles: That's mean. And you have seen her on the paddock, a lot actually.

Anna: Some day, I'll be living in a big old city and all you ever gonna be is mean. God, I love Taylor Swift. But yeah, I saw her once ir twice, very nice girl, and pretty, very pretty as well.

Charles: Stop talking about yourself on third person, baby, is very weird.

Anna: Yeah, Charles, go ahead and tell the whole world our most deep secrets.

Charles: Anna... Lando and Pierre already told half of the grid and half of the grid is just pretending they don't know. We are not that subtle.

Anna: Well, okay, cat is out of the jail everyone, Charles is not single anymore, and it's not gonna be for a while. But let's go for the important topic: Taylor Swift.

Charles: Just that? Taylor Swift? What do you want me to say? *laughs*

Anna: Tell the people your favorite album and tracks. I already know them but that's my privilege.

Charles: Reputation, obviously. I like Our Song and Karma. You drive listening to them so I kinda like them too, and Champagne Problems... wow, that one hit hard and also Lover, because I am in love and ok, I like everything.

Anna: Okay, moving forward. Answer with the first thing on your mind. Favorite ice cream flavor?

Charles: Vanilla. Don't you ever think about cracking the joke I know you're thinking.

Anna: Ok. I wont. Favorite track?

Charles: Monaco. But I love Baku as well.

Anna: Interlagos?

Charles: Senna. I love Interlagos because it brings me closer to him as I could never.

Anna: Favorite movie?

Charles: The one with weddings and funerals.

Anna: Would you go out with me after we finish this one?

Charles: That depends, will you go out with me after we finish this one?

Jennifer Lee on Frozen 3 and 4 in a podcast with Heart ♡︎

Exactly a week ago Heart dropped a podcast with Jennifer Lee discussing Wish, Disney and Frozen 3 and 4.

From 4:04 onwards they start talking about the upcoming Frozen movies. Here's the link or if you can't have a listen, have a read of what she says in response to the questions:

Heart: “And talking about characters, I have to talk about Frozen because I absolutely love Frozen... But are they coming back and will Elsa find love?”

Jen: “Well they are coming back. Big Iger himself leaked it, that we got so much story that we're working on now, it looks like it's gonna be two films. Cause it's so big where they're going next. And Elsa's got a lot to do, so, and I can't give anything away to say what's gonna happen but Anna as well. And Anna's you know, I feel very connected to her, the ordinary hero, I don't have any magic. But I'm really excited. The amazing thing to me is always how these two sisters as we start looking at their journey, they keep surprising us and telling us, showing us what they're capable of. So I'm definitely excited about where we're going.”

Heart: “So does Elsa find love?”

Jen: “I can't give anything away, I can't tell you anything. All I want to say is that anyone who thinks they've heard anything they are not true, there's no leak, nothing has left our vaulted story room and the only leak is what Bob Iger leaked himself.”

So it's clear that Frozen 3 and 4 will be one story split into two movies like previous franchises have done. That's because the story is so big and they don't want to rush it or cram it into one. This logically speaking is a very clever and wise thing to do. Everyone knows no one can enjoy a good story when it's rushed and not long enough. Disney would be the first to make its own projects, have a part 1 and 2. Marvel has done it before with Avengers Infinity War and Endgame and Sony has done it with its Spider-verse films, and there's Dune and more. I mean we all thought Frozen 2's events were big imagine what else is in store for us!

Jennifer Lee has not confirmed or denied the possibility of Elsa getting a love interest. Really we could say it's because she doesn't want to break the Hearst of those who ship Elsa with someone and those who don't, meaning the answer on whether or not she does or not will be in the movie.

Lee also tells us that Elsa and Anna will have a lot to do this time round which means we're in for a ride as the sisters themselves! Like it's exciting because this next big story is literally unpredictable. Frozen could go anywhere. So much ground is left to be explored. We can guess but I'm almost certain our guesses will be nothing like what they've got planned!

As far as leaks go there have been no leaks on either Frozen 3 or 4. So anything anyone says here or on twitter is not true! With this next story being so big to be split into two they're keeping their story room strictly sealed.

Slowly, Jennifer is keeping us fed with little details as well as subtle ones. Teasing us well but not revealing much, not even who this new director is, yet.

Amos Burton on The Expanse: (Disclaimer I’ve have listened through Book 6 and watched the series, but I have not read any further at this point 5/29/2023. I’ve also read no commentaries or podcasts about the character.) From reading “The Churn” and reading Book 5/Season 5, I know Amos grew up rough and the trauma he endured shaped him. Whether his character is shaped by having to cut off emotions to survive, PTSD, a flavor of Autism, or something else. Or two or more or all of those things combined shaped Amos I don’t know. But he is one of the most endearing characters in the series. Each of our main cast of characters have some trait or more than one that help us identify with them and shape them as outsiders to the universe. 

Amos is ready to fight, ready to do what is needed, ready to drink and enjoy the pleasures available to him.  But while he could be shaped as a wild west outlaw that is not who he is. Those things sit on the exterior, but under it all lies the resolution of loyalty and respect. We see it in his attachment to Naomi at first. But we see the other members of the crew slowly earn it through out the series. Woe to anyone who comes at the people he has called family! I’m not going to go into his relationship with all of the main crew. But want to focus on some who come in along the way. We see him adopt people through out the series. Some people wards under his protection, some as friends, some as siblings, and some as something more. I’ve put a few photos above showing him and them. But not all. Prax is someone he adopts to protect him and help him, but he quickly becomes a friend. Amos has all the power in the relationship, but Prax shows him respect, drive for family, and loyalty. Amos learns from Prax and grows because of it.

Reverend Anna is both idealistic and realistic. Her faith is strange to Amos. He again seeks to protect her and help her. She shows him what the balance of idealism and realism looks like and how faith comes in.

Bobbie and Amos have a strange relationship. They are equals in so many ways. Her strength and drive earn his respect. He admires her and would lay his life down for her. It is almost like a twin relationship, but with a very non-family sexual tension there. But sex and romance are not exactly tied together for Amos, again because of his upbringing. I think he could see himself with Bobbie sexually and it would not change his relationship with her. But I think he sees that that it might not be the same for her.

Lastly up is Peaches. Here is a woman who was driven to end the life of Amos’s brother Holden. So she is set against his crew family. Yet she redeems herself. Something about her intrigues Amos. She has strength and drive he appreciates. Yet I think it is her emotions and depth that pull him in the most. Enough that he goes and visits her and ends up rescuing her. I think he has grown and changed through the series. I could really see the two of them in a relationship that extended beyond found family and physicality. It would look very different from the traditional. But that is not who Amos is, even with all his growth.  So even with a couple of books/comics left to read, I think we will see Amos as a part of his crew family, but not in a relationship at the end. That makes me a bit sad, but feels true to his character. But no matter how it goes I’m excited to see where it takes this crew that I love so much. I’ve decided to read the comic story before listening to book 7 through the end. So I’ll have to wait a bit. But I’m fine with that. emily was the one that arthur met in his memory-dream from the start of part 19. right

sarah wrote to anna that henry made a sacrifice. sarah also wrote antoine "ruined emily's life". then, frank in the dreamlands told henry in his letter that he'd fulfill his promise to find emily and get them back home. a bit of a leap but its reasonable to think emily was henry's sacrifice for Shub-Niggurath

and the results from the portal opening in henry's basement (58 pelican lane) were

frank underhill missing (and, if emily was present during the ritual, she was probably gone as well since sarah and anna were the only ones found afterwards)

emily was reported missing, arthur & parker took the case in

someone told them about emily's bike outside of 58 pelican lane. they went there to investigate

still on the same day, emily was found dead in a field (john admitted he was the one who killed her in part 18. he also made a comment on how she was too difficult to manipulate. as in, she has some sort of barrier/preventive thing - much like arthur who probably wouldnt be affected by the monster from the lake because he couldnt see - or she did something to john that actually made it difficult for him to control her.)

KIY's book, which was still left in the basement where the ritual took place 10 years ago, apparently got to jd ackerman (through emily?)

a week after emily's missing report, arthur got & read KIY's book (although presumably meant for roland cummings instead)

the podcast up to part 5

sarah found dead, killed by something that, according to john, wasn't KIY (maybe his servant, maybe something else entirely?)

between those 10 years, there is the possibility that emily survived and ran away, or got sent into the dreamlands and found her way back. lorick did say he was put in the prison pits for helping someone from arthur's world escape.

but: who reported her missing? a relative she lived with? or could it be someone who knew she was out of the dreamlands and wanted to find her quick. might be the same anonymous tip that reported her dead in the field.

but why did she went to 58 pelican lane? maybe to find the book, sure, but then where did she bring it to, right away to JDA or roland cummings's address? (also how old was she to remember who the PI from 10 years ago had been...)

THE THREE CHARACTERS WHO IN MY OPINION HAVE A GREAT CHANCE OF DIE IN "FROZEN 3" OR "FROZEN 4"

YELANA: The way Yelana was treated is perhaps one of my biggest disappointments in the Frozenverse, in fact the way all Northuldras were treated after "Frozen 2" is disappointing, but Yelana in particular was much more so. Honeymaren and Ryder were at least mentioned constantly and even had personality development and goals for the future explained in a mobile game, while Yelana had the most she had in flashbacks involving Iduna. As the leader of the last Northuldra Tribe, a human who has the most knowledge of magic and having known Anna and Elsa's mother as a child, it is a huge waste to say the least and one that I think will be repeated in the next films. They can argue that they're saving her for the films, but are they saving her name too? In “Polar Nights” sometimes I think Mari and Jenn forgot about her and that's why they only mention Honeymaren and Ryder as known tribe members. A great arc that I thought she could have is being the person who tells the stories of Iduna as a child as Mattias does involving the stories of Agnarr as a child, but with this reinforcement of Elsa's abilities to bring back memories stored in Ahtohallan I believe that this role for Yelana got lost. But the big reason I believe she is the character in the franchise who is most likely to die is precisely the other two named Northuldras: Honeymaren and Ryder. The Nattura brothers have a certain plot for the future of the franchise, if the franchise wants to look at them, as Elsa and Kristoff's companions respectively: Ryder will be Kristoff's human friend who is his age and is also a fan of reindeer, Honeymaren as it is very reinforced in these post-F2 materials, it could be Elsa's magic teacher, consultant on the forest and who knows something else. Honeymaren will pass on Yelana's knowledge and perhaps even take control of her tribe. In the "Frozen 2" art book, Honeymaren's great sense of leadership is reinforced, which is in fact presented in the film as she leads the attack battalion that ambushes the Arendelle group, but who knows, this description has a meaning beyond just a military one. Honeymaren and Ryder being linked to Elsa and Kristoff already guarantees a certain immunity for both characters, but Yelana is alone and the roles she could play have been discarded or are being guided to Honeymaren… Yelana is a disposable character unfortunately.

SVEN: this is the type of death possibility that the vast majority of the fandom will not believe is possible since we are talking about Disney, Sven is a popular character, a popular animal character and Disney would not have the courage to make children cry. And honestly just because it's Disney I don't believe in that possibility, but I still put it out there as a strong possibility because I want Disney to be brave. To begin with, I'll say that Sven's natural death is a good path to follow because it would be a great arc for Kristoff: Kristoff after "Frozen 2" is experiencing the greatest peak of his life, he's engaged to Anna who he dated for years, he has best friends and is even surrounded by reindeer. Kristoff is at the point in his life where he couldn't ask for anything more and then his best friend who he's known since childhood starts to show the problems of age. Maybe even Sven has a girlfriend (a reindeer friend of Ryder's) and kids. Kristoff, at the best moment of his life, thinking about his future fatherhood, ends up having to deal with Sven's goodbye. If Disney wants a mature arc for “Frozen 3” or “Frozen 4” this is a good arc, and it would also be a good arc for Kristoff without having to remove his parents from the grave creating a conflict with the Troll Family or him being again solely defined by his relationship with Anna (although his arc on the podcast is interesting it is also driven a bit by Anna as he is more tempted to become an industrialist to be someone worthy of marrying a queen).

AHTOHALLAN: is it a character? I consider that she is, yes, and a female character at that. Ahtohallan is the greatest current symbol of magic in the franchise's universe, the ultimate objective of “Frozen 2” present in legends and lullabies, but what if she is discovered by those who don't like magic? Hatred for magic and the industrial revolution are two of the big threat themes that I speculate for the next films (there is a third theme, but I won't talk about it now). With the opening of the gates of Arendelle and the revelation of Elsa's magic, I imagined that there would be more people thinking like Duke Weselton and in the end we were only introduced to Runeard's actions in the past, but as I said in the past, I imagine someone with the same thoughts now in the present seeing the Enchanted Forest open and the spirits free. If someone with the same thoughts as Runeard found out about the Enchanted Forest and Ahtohallan they would want to destroy the Fortress of Solitude, but to have a clear path they might attack the Enchanted Forest first to distract the spirits as they head towards the glacier (whereas ordinary ships as Agnarr and Iduna perished on the way, perhaps a certain technological touch would give the necessary strength for other vessels to cross the Dark Sea, and the attack on the Enchanted Forest could victimize Yelana). The destruction of Ahtohallan would be a huge blow to everyone and perhaps even have repercussions on the existence of magic and that's why I consider an end to the Fortress of Solitude possible... Although I don't believe it would be a definitive end since I believe Elsa can recreate her somehow.

BONUS

OLAF: this is perhaps the most speculated death in the fandom, but I still only included it as a bonus quote because I don't believe it. There are rumors, unconfirmed, that Josh Gad himself wanted Olaf to die definitively in “Frozen 2” and regardless of the veracity of the rumors, he was the only one from the main group who made a tweet with a certain air of farewell to the character. And a few months later he was the only one acting as the character again. Even if it's real that Josh Gad wanted an end to Olaf, I don't believe in an end to the snowman simply because it already happened in “Frozen 2”. Okay, it wasn't a definitive death, but are we going to repeat the same thing again just changing the ending? Serious? Even if Elsa loses her powers temporarily in “Frozen 3” or “Frozen 4”, perhaps with the destruction of Ahtohallan, I don't believe in Olaf's death because it would only be a repetition and I really don't want the likely last films in the franchise to just recycle old plots even if changing one thing or another to say they are different. So Josh Gad, if you can't stand Olaf anymore, I advise you to continue wiping your tears on the big pile of hundred dollar bills that Disney pays you to say a few sentences and tell a few jokes.

I mention the main cast because Alfred Molina/Agnarr in one of the first interviews after F2 said that he doubted he would return for a possible third film, and in parallel to this Rachel Matthews/Honeymaren is one of the most excited about returning to voice her character.

2023 Movie Journey #8: The Menu

the menu. i’m glad i decided to watch this one. it wasn’t originally on my list, because i only knew ralph fiennes was in it and it’s about food--neither of those are specific draws for me. i had heard it involves class issues, it was being compared to glass onion in headlines i skimmed, so i wasn’t totally opposed to it, i just wasn’t sure either way. but then i saw john leguizamo talk about his role in an interview, and i hadn’t realized he was part of it; that made me reconsider. and then my favorite movie podcast put out an episode where they discussed m3gan--which i am desperate to get someone else’s opinion on since i saw it alone--BUT the episode also includes discussion of the menu. so i figured if i was ever planning on watching the menu, i had better do so soon, and then i’d be able to enjoy that podcast double-feature. (which now i can, yay!)

but my impression of this movie was definitely wrong, i’ll start by saying. i didn’t know it was really a horror movie--i knew there was some violence or gore, but i honestly thought for some reason that it was a movie about cannibalism, where the menu involved killing and cooking the customers. i have no idea where i got that idea, since it is not true. so now i’ve already watched more horror movies this year than i have in the last several combined, even if this one was by accident. and since i’m about to watch scream 5 (because i never did when it came out) in order to decide if i want to see scream 6 in the theater, i’m starting to reacclimate to horror and that’s a surprisingly nice feeling. in real life, i prefer to avoid violence always...but i’m okay with being desensitized to it in media because i don’t get to choose which stories include violence (so many!) and those stories can hold a lot of value for me otherwise.

anyhow, this movie really was good, and i’m not sure i have too much to say beyond that--the cast is great, from personal faves like judith light and nicholas hoult to reliable talents like ralph fiennes and anna taylor-joy. i didn’t realize before watching this that ralph fiennes is a jkr defender, so obviously that sucks, but he was hitting all the necessary levels in this--terrifying, sad, obsessive. and anna taylor-joy was another actor i didn’t even know was in this, which is pretty funny since she’s the real star. she makes an excellent final girl and as somebody who couldn’t get through the queen’s gambit i am thrilled to now know more of her work. i adore her thanks to this movie alone.

i did engage my newly-implemented horror rule of looking away when i need to--there are multiple suicides in this, for example, but most of the deaths were telegraphed well in advance so i didn’t have to see them. and because of my relationship to food, tbh there were some times when i looked away that didn’t involve any violence at all. this movie is simultaneously a love letter to food and a takedown of foodie culture, as much as it’s a takedown of wealthy restaurant customers and the way that restaurant culture destroys the workers that pour their lives into crafting food. because i’m so detached from food, i mostly enjoyed it as a well-told story rather than relating to any of it. 

i will add though that this is a fucking weird movie. that was my first immediate impression as i was watching it, so i shouldn’t just say i liked it without adding that. it is incredibly dark and twisted. but it so clearly knows what it wants to be doing that i was happily along for the ride. there’s something really enjoyable--at least for me--about a movie that’s completely committed to its premise, no matter how intense or specific (or bizarre) it may be. 

oh, also i liked the soundtrack to this one a lot. it wasn’t exactly all that special, more of the ‘classical with a modern twist’ that i love whenever i encounter it...but it made it fun for me to let the credits play to the end, because i enjoy that style of music all the time.

in conclusion, i would recommend this one if you like the cast, are interested in commentary on fine dining and the people that create it, or enjoy modern horror movies (especially ones that justify murdering the wealthy). i liked it a lot more than i thought i would.

5) Almost killed herself so the Northuldra could live with their spirits in peace again - Self sacrificing idiot, ready to kill herself for having two free samples at Walmart.

So, I have just finished your breakdown of the "Escape from Kadavo" and I totally agree that it didn't have the closure you'd expect from an arc like this. I think it's one of the reasons why post-Kadavo fanfiction is so popular. And because of that I wanted to ask if you have a favorite one about this topic?

I like the first half of Memoirs of Kadavo by Siri_Kenobi12 for example, but I've read a lot of others and just can't pick a favorite.

The Kadavo arc is the reason I learned what fan fiction was LOL!! I felt such intense unresolved tension the first time I watched it that I went in search of something that would satisfy my needs.

I discovered "Undoing Dichotomy" by @legobiwan 💜 I haven't read it for some time but it was the kind of experience where you find a fic that you can't put down. I stayed up all night reading it. It's such a fond memory.

I have read a few other ones but none that I liked that much. That's partly why I like to write fics...I really struggle to find exactly what I'm looking for, so I write it for myself LOL! That's why I wrote "The Secret Duke of Mandalore." That fic was a guilty pleasure for me. It takes place right after Kadavo; Obi-Wan is so damaged by what he experienced that the Jedi Council forces him to take leave. He doesn't know where else to go, so he goes to see Satine. It's one of my most popular fics. I think even Anna Graves has read it 😅😅😅 Which is just terrifying to me LOL!!!!

I'll have to check out the fic you mentioned. I am always in the market for a good Kadavo/whumpy Obi-Wan fic!!
