It was such an honor to team up for this with you as always!!! :3 We've uploaded a version of the accompanied writing (already in the zine) to Ao3 as well!! As Anode or Lug, you are taking steps in a galaxy following a reconciliatory Autobot victory in Autobot-Decepticon-Unicron wars, to help rebuild and make something new, both for society and yourselves, reconnecting with family and friends you were away from due to the war, transforming the world and each other together, and rekindling love in such reforging of and for peaceful autonomy, addressing old wounds…. We wrote 2 excerpts set at different points in dating sim style for this story, one from Anode's perspective meeting with Windblade and Proxima on Cybertron early in the story to start restoration, and one from Lug's on the Lost Light supporting Rodimus's surgery including by helping her partner Drift with advice on how to support Roddy, This story is very much about finding the Forge of Solus Prime in oneself and the people around you. The Ao3 release has been edited for typos we missed for the zine release.

You chose to play either Anode or Lug post-IDW where you travel the galaxy or journey to Earth, to help bots recover and rebuild after the War! There are multiple bots that you can seduce and pull into your open marriage. There are even bonus bots you can encounter! Good and bad endings!

100k words of Addendum! A Poll on a Teaser in Thanks

Y'all, we just realized today that with the release of Chapter 17 of Addendum (an IDW1 Arcee Novel Fanfic) yesterday, where among other things that happen the long awaited Anode/Arcee/Lug ship finally kicks off, that in terms of released chapters, Addendum has finally passed the 100k word mark!!!! We are deeply thankful for all the love and support and ideas and commissions we've gotten from people we've interacted with here and on discord servers we frequent, and also to our partners and friends, and frankly for seeing the shared love other people have for the characters we make fanfic for through their stories, ideas, and art. Connecting on that and telling this story means so deeply to us, as we adore the beautifully grown EXRID canon, especially in Arcee's regard, with her stories at large (beyond just IDW1), are ones that resonate deeply and were along with many other stories about (trans) robots with (aesthetic) journeys (like Anode and Lug), lifechanging in a way that was a catalyst for us to be more ourselves and share more happiness with loved ones.

Writing this fanfic is not just a way for us to connect things in a way that fills in the many millions of years of Arcee's life where we don't really know much about what she was doing and from that have an arc to more closure after 2018, but also to remind ourselves of how beautiful the world is, even when things are hard and everything hurts, because of the sapient condition always having the capacity collectively for people to put words to and act on expansiveness and autonomy. It probably does not surprise the readers of this story to know that we have sometimes had it very hard and not known if we were going to make it- but we are still here, and made our peace with the fact we have done some things we never imagined doing and there are things we still want to do, for which we are very lucky.

Will there be/are there women in your AU? For example a scientist like Nautica or Lug or a doctor like Lifeline

Yes ! Fret not, there are women ! There are just so many characters I'm still unsure how to juggle them all ! I want the B plot on Cybertron to switch between character perspectives to show how everyone is generally doing there so you will see them around !

I have scientist and non-scientist women, Lifeline is a field medic so she's out and about in battle while I imagine Nautica is working to get the Ark back in working order

Non-Scientist women include Elita-1, she's the Mining Captain (similar to TFone !) she works with geologist Lug looking for energon, I imagine Anode as a weaponsmith in this AU, Arcee is a surface scout, and Windblade is the Autobot Aerial Captain

other characters include Strongarm, Chromia, Firestar, Greenlight and Moonracer who are also around but again, idk how big of a role anyone is playing yet since I'm still working on the story.

With the Decepticons we have Flamewar, Strika, Slipstream and others I'm probably forgetting off the top of my head. Though I'm not really sure what I'm doing with the Decepticons all too much yet </3 Work in progress..

Also on another note, I want to point out Science AU Skywarp is nonbinary and uses any pronouns. Much like real life, gender is a social construct for them. Cybertronians are sexless and choose whatever pronouns feel comfortable for them.

in general i see some misconceptions about how gender works/is presented in idw1 crop up quite a lot, i think because a lot of people are picking it up third hand from the brief discussion of it in MTMTE/LL and then a ton of fanon, much of which actually bears little resemblance to what the comics tell us?

a few common misconceptions i see:

as per the last post, the assumption that the functionists somehow outlawed gender and that's why it vanished. nope. it just randomly did for no stated reason and nobody treats it as taboo in itself, or reacts with anything except like, mild curiosity at the idea of female characters- it's just kind of confusing, because seemingly everyone forgot gender ever existed. 'james, that makes no sense' nope! it does not. shrugs. look, they were trying to undo some really bizarre shit because hasbro made it clear the girls were no longer going to be optional, and at the end of the day there just isn't... a good explanation to be had.

caminus is not a 'planet of women'. there are male and female (and, i assume, nonbinary?) camiens. it's just that people remember e.g. windblade, chromia and nautica the most as representative.

all female characters in idw1 are not trans. only female cybertronian characters would be 100% of the time (so, lug and anode, and by way of late retcon, arcee); there's no reason to assume nobody on the colonies is trans, but they aren't be default, and so e.g. nautica is not assumed to be trans and that's not a canon fact.

Hello! Would you mind sharing any transformers fanfic reccomendations?

Sure! I usually tend to be more of a fic writer than a reader, but I have some favorites:

"Memory" by spiderscribe, written for the TF Rare Pairing Fest 2024

This is a Windstream (Windblade/Slipstream) fic based on Cyberverse. Primus gives Windblade a chance to relive events leading up to Slipstream's demise... but the reason why might not be what Windblade initially thinks. This is a fic about grief and what Slipstream meant to Windblade that made me tear up a lot, it may be my favorite TF fic. I also highly recommend the Sky-Byte/Jetfire fic from this same series, because it was hilarious.

"Where Art is Helpful" by Seiberwing

A TFA fic in which Bulkhead and Blitzwing form an unlikely bond over their shared interest in sculpture. It's nice to see this from characters who weren't often given enough respect, and the characterizations were really good.

"O Lazarus" by Trinary

A Starshock (Starscream/Shockwave) fic set post-Regeneration One... a pretty obscure, not super well-liked extension of the US Marvel comics, of all things! I like how this fic portrays trauma and learning to trust others, and it's especially interesting to see how these villains were essentially broken open and entirely remade, and how relying on each other has changed them.

"my fingers will find yours" by choomchoom

In an AU based on the IDW comics, Anode and Lug end up imprisoned on a Cybertron ruled by Functionists and end up key players in a rebellion. I love the way the main characters and their relationship are portrayed in this fic, and it's an interesting adventure story. Lug especially I really appreciated the characterization of in this.

"Stargazing" by kepulver

Vaguely a shipping fic between Optimus Prime and Ironhide, though it's more what people would call "pre-slash" and it's set in the G1 continuity. It's a sweet, introspective fic and the joke about the Milky Way made me laugh so hard.

"Dark Glass" by Brinton Callaghan

In this fanfiction version of an unproduced Beast Wars episode, Rattrap desperately tries to bring Dinobot back to life from the backup memory tracks Dinobot uploaded into the Axalon's systems, but everything goes wrong. The link will take you to a podfic version. I love this fic so much I honestly consider it fanon that should've been canon.

good question!! for lesser knowns, probably literally any of the lesbian ones because ppl dont care as much about them 😔 like windblade and chromia...horgh,,,,and the canon ones like arcee and aileron, or anode and lug. for a lesbian rarepair tho...transformers prime june darby x arcee. thats fucking peak baby. need to draw it someday. soon.

outside of lesbianism tho lol a lot of my ships are pretty specific to their continuity, so like, i really like shockstar, but i very specifically like regeneration one shockstar (i like it fine in tfp as well). or im not too huge on skystar UNLESS its shattered glass, then its crazy. uhhhmm i love cyberverse soundrod (cyberverse windstream also so good...), and GODDDDD blackarachnia and airazor in war for cybertron. that was INSANE. wfc best show hoopugh...more lesser knowns, needlenose and horri-bull make me sad, as does blast off and onslaught. i also like strongarm and windblade in tfrid

honestly im not sure whats considered a rarepair lol, tho im currently in the process of writing a longass rodimus character study thats rodimus x whirl so i guess thats one??? tfa ratchet x omega supreme is another, i dont think ive seen much of that despite how insane they were. and soundwave and cosmos in idw1, they were sweet and devastating

and as we all know now i am a shockprowl truther, but i also enjoy prowl in the fortredrebos polycule. i like prowl in situations.
