i never really understood why people ship itachi and shisui. i mean didn't shisui tell him to see him as an older brother? and we didn't see much of their relationship anyway so nothing about them seems romantic or sexual to me. and it wasn't the same as say narusasu where their whole relationship is layed out for us to see. i know shiita is not really your topic of interest but what do you think?

I’m not a big fan of Shiita cause I find it boring, but I can see why people ship them. First of all people ship characters for much less than the moments Itachi and Shisui have together in the anime (cause in the manga there’s pretty much nothing)...tbh I ship characters for interacting even less, for their potential or whatever. So I can’t judge shiita shippers, because like I wrote here and here, Shisui and Itachi share values and ideals, they spent a lot of time together and they trusted each other, even Itachi who never trusts anyone trusted Shisui, so it’s a lot.

About elements seemingly romantic or se/xual actually how many characters have se/xually charged moments? not many, and yet ppl ship them lol. Like me. Or heterosexual couples, they have no se/xually charged moment and yet...

Sometimes a good close combat fight is enough to suggest something se/xual that might happen/be imagined, sometimes a few words are. Sometimes you don’t need much to have a glimpse of how some characters’ relationships and dynamics are. Team Taka, for example, don’t have much screen time, but you can totally understand the bond between them. And if you want to see them as brotherly, ok, if you want to see more, there is space for it as well. That’s how shipping works.

What bothers me about Shiita is fanon, because some fandom headcanons became the norm, so (and I’m not referring to anyone in particular, don’t feel attacked. I just remember random things I saw online) there is kinda shy Itachi who enjoys to become a submissive bottom with Shisui (I mean there are controlling people/characters who like to be sub and this fan opinion makes sense, but now it’s the only one and I’d like to see more variety, because the opposite makes sense too), Shisui who’s a dork even tho he was one of the most feared Konoha shinobi and he was the one who influenced Itachi’s ideals, and Sasuke being the third weel, always jealous and possessive of Itachi even tho he was never like this in canon and he respected Shisui very much (in the anime he calls him Shisui-san when he was a child).

Another thing that bothers me is the ‘wholesome’ concept that now gets applied to that ship and from which a lot of ppl seem to judge those tho like different stuff in fictional pairings. Ofc wholesome is an option and it makes a lot of sense for them, but there can be more.

(also in the past I wrote a darkfic where there is shiita. needless to say it wasn’t received well in that fandom lol)

Since you mentioned NS I have the same problem with that fandom’s portrayal cause despite the many moments they have, and despite the ending, which highlighted how unhealthy and un-wholesome their relationship is, they misinterpret both characters and they reduce them in an ooc couple made of a grumpy selfish drama queen and a selfless ball of sunshine, and both are wrong because Sasuke is a selfless character who’s passive in relationships and Nar is a very assertive personality who’s not selfless at all and who’s totally dominant and possessive to Sasuke. But I have a whole tag abt how I see them.

NejiTen Sucks Because of the Fandom

I don’t have many anti ships and the ones I have are because of incest(ItaSasu, NejiHina, ShiIta, NaruKushi, etc). Even age gap relationships that are very gross in canon(MadaObi, KakaSaku, etc) I tend to let slide since the majority of people shipping them ship them in alternate universes where they’re the same age or adults.

The only exception to me only having incest ships as NOTPs is NejiTen, which I’ll admit is weird out of context. NejiTen as a ship itself is pretty harmless. I don’t like it because I’m sick of NejiTen shippers saying it is/would’ve been canon. I do think that if Neji survived and gotten married, it would’ve been with TenTen, but it’s not because it’s a good ship like some of the fandom would like you to believe. It’s because Neji doesn’t talk to any girls his age(or girls in general). That’s it. And that’s only if he got married and had kids. Considering TenTen and Shino are both single and we don’t have a canonical mother of Metal Lee, it’s possible that Neji would’ve remained single even if he lived.

I'm confused, I saw some people say shiita is a bad ship because "they are probably related" ?? Is it because they are both Uchiha or what? Also I'm pretty sure cousin marriage is okay in Japan so I don't really get what's the problem... and I actually don't ship those two, I'm just baffled at how it's supposedly a bad ship.

ShiIta has literally been basically the 2nd most popular Itachi ship for FOREVER.

Antis have reached and went far beyond full stupid if they’re trying to say ShiIta can’t be shipped now.

Yes, they’re a bit related by virtue of being Uchiha. That’s IT. That’s as far as that gets. What these people don’t realize is that for a bloodline clan to exist as long as it has, a degree of incest MUST exist. A degree.

That doesn’t really apply to Itachi and Shisui anyways since they’re both men. They’re also not direct cousins. Maybe very distantly related cousins.  

At the end of the day, the points I mentioned don’t matter. It’s fictional. People have shipped it for years and years and years. They’re not about to stop. 

What’s next? Fugaku and Mikoto can’t be shipped, despite literally being married? Naruto and Sasuke can’t be shipped now, they said they’re brothers, that’s incest ://

Not interested in Itachi without Sasuke! Finally someone who gets it! Just read a Shiita fic and the first part was good but later it just focused on them and brushed aside Sasuke. Too many fix it fics are Itachi's life getting better, not Sasuke's. Like if Itachi got a second chance he wouldn't devote it all to Sasuke. There are too few fics focusing on Sasuke, it's always look how perfect Itachi is, feels like that filler where Sasuke is just plot device. Sasuke is the MC, not Itachi.

I can like minor characters and want to write something to give them space and not give it to main characters, that’s ok. They ship shiita, Sasuke is in the way of their ship, so they childishly hate Sasuke and superficially remove him from the narration or express their hatred for him portraying him as a jealous and annoying overly present character bothering their cute couple.

This is OOC on many levels, because Sasuke is not a jealous person at all, not even of his brother, precisely because Itachi is his older brother whom he respects, so even if he was jealous of him spending time with Shisui, he wouldn’t do anything about it because he’s younger and he respects his brother’s authority, having been raised in a traditional household.

Itachi’s most important person is Sasuke and Sasuke’s most important person is Itachi, this is obvious. But while shippers of Sasuke with someone else can write fics where Itachi is dead, Itachi shippers can’t. Those who ship Itachi with an akatsuki member can focus on the period Itachi was there and didn’t have Sasuke around but shiita shippers are usually writing some non massacre or modern au so they have to ‘deal’ with Sasuke’s presence, so to speak.

It’s stupid because they could just portray him as the younger brother Itachi is protective of, they could portray the uchiha brothers as super close but they could still focus on the shiita dynamic more, instead they still see him as a threat, which, if they don’t ship itasasu, is stupid because they could just see them as brothers and itachi’s protectiveness could just be seen as the older brother’s behavior. Also because they portray itachi as not controlling or commanding with Sasuke, which btw is very OOC because itachi is not meek, not submissive and especially not with Sasuke whom he controls and decides for, whether Sasuke is ok with it or not.

But ofc for them it’s the opposite. That’s why despite not having anything against the pairing I avoid shiita fics like the plague.

Haha, I noticed you in my feed :D Thank you so much! Someone from the old LJ time too, that’s so cool! I’m glad you found me. But what do you mean “when people still shipped itasui”?? Please, there is still a community of diehard shippers who are very active. Shiita fandom feels thriving as ever to me. Maybe not like in LJ days, I never witnessed that time since I joined the fandom as late as 2012, but still! Tumblr has messed up our spaces so the activity has somewhat moved to twitter which sucks but oh well at least there is activity and I also discovered some Asian artists over there who create content of them too!

La nuova cortina di ferro. Iran, Turchia e Qatar, passando dalla Russia

Da quando è salita l’asticella della tensione tra i paesi del golfo persico in senso anti Doha, Turchia ed Iran, come due falchi, si sono buttati sul Qatar per aumentare la propria influenza nella regione e per aumentare i flussi commerciali. Sarebbe stato inimmaginabile tempo fa vedere un paese shiita come l’Iran, supportare la causa di un Paese a prevalenza sunnita come il Qatar. Oggi, invece, le tre nazioni, Turchia, Iran e Qatar e aggiungerei anche Russia hanno trovato un comune denominatore, organizzarsi per controbattere gli embarghi a cui sono sottoposti. La  Turchia, dopo il fallito colpo di Stato e la condanna internazionale per i metodi repressivi, ha virato la propria politica internazionale di 360° per spingere la comunità internazionale ad accettare l'ingresso nell’UE. La Turchia, con la sua nuova strategia, mostra i muscoli anche con gli americani per sensibilizzarli ad un atteggiamento meno intransigente nell'autorizzare l'estradizione del politologo turco Fetullah Gulen, ritenuto la mente del golpe fallito il 15 luglio 2016. Non è da trascurare neanche l’avvicinamento della Turchia alla Russia con la quale ha stretto rapporti commerciali (anti embargo) e militari. Sono stati acquisiti, ultimamente, diversi prototipi della batteria antimissile S 400 dalla Russia, con l’ottica di avviare una produzione vera e propria in Turchia di modelli più evoluti. Tutto questo accade, nonostante la Turchia faccia parte della NATO. Cioè si difende con batterie missilistiche russe anziché con quelle utilizzate dai Paesi NATO, mandando in soffitta la tanto sbandierata interoperabilità dei sistemi d’arma dei Paesi NATO. Ultimi aggiornamenti Turchia - Qatar La Turchia sta continuando ad aiutare il Qatar con l’invio di beni di prima necessità. Dall’inizio della crisi scoppiata tra Doha Arabia Saudita, Emirati Arabi e Bahrein il 5 giugno scorso ad oggi sono stati inviati più di 100 aerei colmi di prodotti a cui si aggiungono i carichi di navi mercantile. Il Presidente Tayyip Erdogan è stato risoluto a definire l’isolamento imposto come una sorta di "pena di morte, trattamento disumano e contrario ai valori islamici”, e ad operarsi sin da subito ha chiamato al dialogo e alla mediazione per una risoluzione pacifica della situazione. In questo quadro si inserisce l’approvazione da parte della Grande Assemblea Nazionale Turca dell’invio di truppe nella base militare qatarina, già aperta nel 2015 in chiave anti ISIS, che ad oggi ospita 100 soldati ma ha una capienza di 5000 uomini. Oltre il dato economico che consta di un flusso commerciale pari a 424 milioni di dollari e ad un impatto nella crescita delle esportazioni turche del 126% dal 2011, i due governi si sono trovati concordi nel condannare il colpo di Stato che in Egitto nel 2013 che ha condotto alla caduta di Mohammed Morsi ed entrambi hanno supportato gruppi islamisti nel tentativo di deporre il regime di Bashar Al Assad in Siria. Ankara e Doha sono uniti anche nel benevolo rapporto verso Teheran, considerato un 'key player' nelle dinamiche regionali, contrariamente a quanto sancito da Arabia Saudita, Emirati e partner. Si tratta della prima missione del capo della diplomazia iraniana nell'emirato da quando l'Arabia Saudita. Zarif, arrivato ieri sera a Doha dall'Oman, avrà altri colloqui con le autorità qatarine durante la giornata, centrati sulla situazione nel Golfo e gli sviluppi in Siria, Iraq e Yemen. I conflitti e le tensioni che investono questi Paesi vedono una contrapposizione tra forze sunnite e sciite, confessioni a cui appartengono rispettivamente il Qatar e l'Iran. Al termine della visita compiuta ieri a Teheran dal capo di Stato maggiore turco, Hulusi Akar, i media di Teheran hanno riferito di discussioni riguardanti la cooperazione in campo militare tra i due paesi. L'ufficiale turco è arrivato in Iran per preparare la visita del presidente turco Recep Tayyep Erdogan prevista domani a Teheran. Entrambi i paesi sostengono "l'unità nazionale di Iraq e Siria" minacciata dal separatismo curdo, e si sono detti pronti a collaborare "nella lotta al terrorismo.  Erdogan si recherà domani in visita in Iran, come anticipato dal suo capo di Stato maggiore Hulusi Akar. Parlando al parlamento di Ankara in occasione dell'inaugurazione del nuovo anno legislativo, il capo dello Stato turco ha annunciato la sua prossima visita a Teheran per discutere della crisi regionale provocata dal referendum curdo del 25 settembre. Akar intanto è arrivato a Teheran per preparare la visita, alla guida di una folta delegazione di militari turchi. Erdogan parteciperà insieme all'omologo iraniano, Hassan Rohani, al Quinto Consiglio strategico di alto livello congiunto. "Discuteremo dei rapporti tra Iran e Turchia e degli sviluppi regionali - ha anticipato Erdogan la scorsa settimana in un'intervista televisiva -. Il tema più delicato riguarda l'Iraq e la Siria. Anche la guerra al terrorismo è importante". Erdogan ha incontrato Rohani ad Ankara a inizio settembre a margine della riunione dell'Organizzazione della conferenza islamica. In definitiva lo scacchiere internazionale sta mutando radicalmente e si sta autodefinendo con la formazione di più blocchi di potere. E’ sconcertante, in questa nuova panoramica, poter vedere nazioni attivissime in politica internazionale e soprattutto determinate ed altre dormienti in attesa di non si sa cosa.
