Films To Watch If You Liked The Ritual

The shows on Netflix are getting better and better year by year. And during this pandemic situation streaming services are new movie theatres. There are many films on the platform that stay with the audiences, one of such movies in the horror genre is, The Ritual. It is a British horror movie written by Joe Barton and directed by David Bruckner; the film is based on the novel of the same name written by author Adam Nevill. The story revolves around five friends, Phill, Hutch, Luke, Rob, and Dom. Rob suggests his friends for hiking and gets rebuffed. They went for a college trip of a lifetime. And as the group heads deep into the woods to take a shortcut, they encounter the presence of a sinister that is not a typical Sasquatch. Director Bruckner is known for his expertise, including V/H/S, Southbound, and the upcoming project reboot of Hellraiser. His sense of direction is unique, especially in the horror genre.

The Blair Witch Project (1999)

The Blair Witch Project is an American supernatural horror movie directed, written, and edited by  Eduardo Sanchez, and Daniel Myrick. The plot of the screenplay is a true story of three student filmmakers, played by Michael C. Williams, Heather Donahue, and Joshua Leonard- the three friends, planned to hike in the Black Hills near Burkittsville, Maryland. The three disappeared during the hike, and footage is recovered from the equipment they were carrying. The film is created based on the footage.

The filmmakers Sanchez and Myrick conceived a fictional legend, the Blair Witch in 1993. The two developed a 35 pages screenplay with improvised dialogues. The production of the movie started in October 1997. The shooting went for around eight days, it was 20-hour footage and was edited to 82 minutes. The budget of the film was around $35,000-$60,000 and adding up the post-production cost, and it crossed approximately $200,000-750,000.

The movie was pure entertainment, and the performances of the cast provide an authentic sense of footage. The sequel of the film was released in 2000 and a reboot in 2016, but the original version was the best one.

The Witch (2015)

The Witch: A New England Folktale aka The Witch is a period supernatural horror movie directed and written by Robert Eggers, and the film is his directorial debut. It stars Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie, Anya Talor-Joy, Ellie Grainger, Harvey Scrimshaw, and Lucas Dawson. The movie revolves around an English settler William and family- son Caleb, daughter Thomasin, wife Katherine, and fraternal twins Jonas and Mercy. They are banished from a Puritan Plymouth Colony for a religious dispute. They build a farm near a large forest, and Katherine bears her fifth child, Samuel. One day while playing peekaboo, Samuel disappeared. Soon they realized that a witch had stolen him.

The movie received positive reviews and collected a gross of $40 million for a production cost of $4 million. Audiences widely received the film with a 90% approval rating based on 317 reviews, with an average rating of 7.77/10. And on Metacritic, it got 83 out of 100 based on 46 critics, which indicates “universal acclaim”.

The Evil Dead (1981)

The Evil Dead is an American supernatural horror movie directed and written by Sam Raimi, produced by Robert Tapert. The film stars Bruce Campbell, Ellen Sandweiss, Betsy Baker, Richard DeManicor, and Theresa Tilly. The plot focuses on five students vacationing in an isolated cabin. Then they found an audiotape, which when played released spirits and demons. A demonic spirit possesses the four students among them.

Campbell, Tapert, Raimi, and their friends produced the short movie Within the Woods to build a secure investor, from that project, they got $90,000 to create the film The Evil Dead. The shooting of the movie took place in a remote location located in Morristown, Tennessee. It screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 1982 and received praise from the horror king, Stephen King. It collected a gross of $2.4 million in the United States and around $29.4 million worldwide. After the success of the first film The Evil Dead, the franchise released two more sequels directed and produced by Raimi, Evil Dead II in 1987, and Army of Darkness in 1992.

The Evil Dead is one of the best movies of Bruce Campbell along with the different iconic roles.

The Cabin In The Wood (2011)

The Cabin in the Woods is an American horror comedy movie directed by Drew Goddard and produced by Joss Whedon. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Kristen Connolly, Fran Kranz, Richard Jenkins, Jesse Williams, and Bradley Whitford. The story revolves around a group of students who retreat to a remote forest cabin, where they become the victim of zombies. The film was initially released on 5 February 2010, but it underwent development hell and then shelved indefinitely. Then the movie was finally released on 13 April 2012 in the United States and collected a gross $66 million worldwide against a budget of $30 million. The Cabin In The Wood is a comedic movie with some of the scariest monsters in cinematic history, and a struggle to maintain humankind.

The Hallow (2015)

The Hallow is a horror movie written by Felipe Marino and Hardy and directed by Corin Hardy. The movie stars Bojana Novakovic, Joseph Mawle, Michael Smiley, and Michael McElhatton. The Hallow premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on 25 January 2015. The story follows a British conservationist specializing in plant and fungal life, Adam, his wife Claire, and their baby son Finn. They travel to a remorseless Irish village surrounded by a large forest. When Adam was exploring the woods with Finn, he stumbled around an animal carcass that had burst open the body. Later in the plot, they fight for survival against a demonic creature in the woods.

The Hallow is a combination of horror, fantasy, and thriller genres. Director Corin Hardy directed the full-length film debut, and he did it with a pretty creepy undertone and realistic way.

The Shrine (2010)

The Shrine is a Canadian supernatural horror movie produced by Brookstreet Pictures. The film was directed by Jon Knautz and starred Cindy Sampson, Aaron Ashmore, Meghan Heffern, and Trevor Matthews. The screenplay starts with a man tied to a table. And another man kills him with a sledgehammer. Then it shifts to a journalist, Carmen, who has a problem with her boyfriend, Marcus, who is a professional photographer. On the other hand, Carmen always thinks about her work and tends to ignore him. She was investigating mysterious disappearances and stumbled upon the next level of evil. The movie premiered at the FanTasia Film Festival on 25 July 2010 and received 6/10 stars from Bill Gibron in PopMatters.

In From the Cold RANT *SPOILERS*

The following WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR IN FROM THE COLD! The show doesn’t make sense, nor does it seem to care about trying to. Questions and contradictions are all I leave the show with.

1) Anya’s power are what exactly? She can morph? And turn invisible? And have superhealing? And apparently transform someone else into looking like her (Gaia)? It is painful and takes time? Except apparently in the scene where she shifts multiple times in public without slowing a step.

2) Svelena’s powers are what exactly? Mind control, but with a watch? Did we ever see her use the watch on Becca? Where did she get the watch? 

3) What the hell is going on with Svelena’s plans? On the surface it seems like she found Anya and cooked up this whole plot as revenge/a way to manipulate Anya into messing up Felipe’s plan. Why did she even want Diego as the lone shooter? What difference does it make? If she pulled Chauncy in with the tip on Anya why the interogation via Damien? She knows who the American is. If she didn’t pull Chaucey in, it is WAY too much of a coincidence. Her plot revolving around an ice skating competition with her oweing an ice ring and Becca is an ice skater? No. 

Why have Gaia fight Anya if she needs her to mess up the “plans” to get everyone into the safe room. If she doesn’t need her to mess up the plan, why leave her alive on the ice? 

Also won’t it have been easier to just deal with her Anya revenge separately? She only had to have someone fire a gun in the air at the competion. She didn’t need the police diverted with the Felipe stuff or any of the rest of it. She’s in the safe room, does her watch trick, and boom, mind controled future president.

4) Who were all those black suits Chaucey hires to test Anya? If he hired them for that, why couldn’t he have hired some of them to be his back-up instead of the hacker with no field skills?

5) That ending. Anya’s been a sleeper for the Russian Government all along? First that smirk undermines everything we know about the character. In the flashbacks she is an extremely remorseful spy. She kills to survive and then grieves. In the present she grieves Damian and her mother. She gets drunk to go on her first mission. She gets upset about Lidia. She has performance issues because of that. She emotionally destroys her hotel room looking for the cameras when she discovers Chaucey’s survalience. It has to be emotional because it isn’t rational. It wastes time, and she does serious injury to herself getting those cameras out. The end result is that she loses her allies assistance. Cold calculated spy doesn’t do that. I could buy her as a conflicted sleeper, but a gleeful one? No. 

Second, what worked? There was a twenty-year deep cover plan to what? Get an ex-cia agent (who specialised in terrorist threats NOT Russian Espionage) to coerce her into working for him? We’re saying they leaked her intel to Svelena with this playing out? This is a dumb way to use a one of a kind shape shifter.

Premios Graffiti 2020 - Ceremonia y Nominados

Con una ceremonia de lanzamiento en el Teatro Macció de San José, fueron develados en el día de ayer los nominados a los Premios Graffiti 2020.

Con los shows en vivo de AFC, Clarisa Prince, Pecho E Fierro, Francesca y Pólvora en Chimangos; los Premios Graffiti llegaron por primera vez al interior del país.  Fue así como el Teatro Macció de San José fue escenario en la noche de ayer para el lanzamiento de la Décimo-octava edición de los premios a la música uruguaya. En adición al anuncio de las más de 40 categorías y sus respectivos nominados, se conoció el merecedor del primero de los premios de éste año: Mejor Libro sobre Música Uruguaya - que fuera otorgado a “Galemire - Su Música y Su Tiempo” de Eduardo Rivero. 

Los demás ganadores serán anunciados en la Ceremonia de Entrega este 19 y 20 de Octubre en el Auditorio del Sodre; junto con los seleccionados por el voto popular. El público podrá decidir a través de la web de los Premios Graffiti los ganadores en las categorías:  Álbum del Año (teniendo como base los ya nominados), Tema Popular del Año (entre 5 temas elegidos por el jurado) y Artista del Año (libre entre todos los artistas uruguayos que tuvieran actividad en 2019). Éste último recibe - a partir de esta edición - el nombre de Omar Gutiérrez en homenaje al comunicador maragato.  

Sabemos que comprar todos los números de la lotería no garantiza hacerse acreedor del premio, y no necesariamente los artistas más nominados sean los ganadores; pero al menos al momento, las ternas benefician a el Cuarteto de Nos (con 7 nominaciones), seguidos de No Te Va a Gustar y Nicolás Molina (con 5). ¿Serán las figuritas conocidas del rock uruguayo quienes salgan victoriosas en ésta nueva edición de los Grammy locales?. Hay que esperar algunas semanas para saberlo.

Lembrou-se de Felipe, o jovem de cabelos lisos e olhos amarelos como normalmente apenas a luz do sol permitia olhos castanhos parecerem. Felipe era covarde, tinha receio de admitir seus sentimentos, com ele só há suposição eterna, descaso eterno e uma história eternamente esquecida. Mas o descaso nem a ignorância estiveram presentes no dia em que ele proferiu uma das frases mais confusas que a garota já ouviu “Não é como se eu quisesse ser seu namorado, mas você já passou por relacionamentos piores”.

A frase dita pelo ex-amante correu pela mente da menina e seus olhos se cerraram de cansaço, ela murmurou para si mesma que precisava dormir, mas sabia que sua namorada já estava deitada na cama, e não quis ser queimada por tal gelo. 

Listando os defeitos da menina de cabelos longos e quimicamente ruivos, um dos primeiros a aparecer é definitivamente a volubilidade, e menos de meia hora depois lá estava Anya com as pernas encolhidas na cama, como se não quisesse ser percebida pela parceira, não funcionou, afinal sono nenhum teria sido tão pesado para fazer Jessie ignorar o perfume que tanto adorava, o shampoo de Româ usado por sua amada. Os braços morenos sairam das cobertas tentando segurar a cintura da namorada, ao conseguirem, esta sentiu um arrepio no coração e uma tristeza profunda que rimava com “Ela não te ama tanto assim...”

The Bling Ring: A Look Back at Our Favourite Celebrity Engagement Rings Ever

After a string of high-profile celebrity weddings, including the now-iconic Kimye nuptials and Poppy Delevingne‘s gorgeous boho affair, we’re hooked on talk of weddings. Gowns and décor provide hours of drool-worthy Instagram stalking, but let’s not overlook where each bride’s wedding style begins – the engagement ring.

Kim Kardashian’s $3 million custom Lorraine Schwartz ring from Kanye West is epic (to say the least), while royal trend-setters Kate Middleton and Letizia Ortiz wear rings that are surprisingly non-traditional. Equally as surprising is the fact that Keira Knightley‘s rocker beau may be a traditionalist at heart, because his choice for Knightley is not what most would expect for a Hollywood starlet. And, when diamonds aren’t enough, some celebs make it official with ink. Some of our favourite celeb couples rock ring finger tats so that even when they aren’t wearing their wedding rings, they still kind of are – which must be a relief ’cause those things look heavy.

Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí,

a világhírű szürrealista művészről Maria Pilar Abel Martínez azt állítja, ő a lánya. A liezon a festő és egy szobalány között szövődött 1955-ben, amikor a család, akiknél a későbbi anya szolgált, Cadaquésben, Dalí otthonának közelében töltött el hosszabb időt. Akkoriban egyébként Dalí Galával, a feleségével és múzsájával élt.

A titkos viszonyból született a hölgy, aki kártyajóslásból tartja fenn magát és a családi fáma szerint anyja abban az évben otthagyta a családot és a várost is, a költözés után pedig férjhez ment egy másik férfihoz. A szobalány többször és mások előtt is azt állította neki, hogy a festő a biológiai apja.

“Az egyetlen dolog, ami hiányzik, egy bajusz”

– mondta egyszer az El Mundo szerint az anya, utalva művész emblematikus bajszára, így magára a festőre.

Mindezzel először 2015-ben állt elő Martínez. A bíró azért döntött az exhumálás mellett, mert egyéb ismert biológiai maradvány híján nem látott más módot az állítás valóságtartalmának ellenőrzésére. A nő ügyvédje szerint pontos dátum még nincs, de már júliusban kihantolhatják a holttestet.

A világhírű katalán festő 1989-ben halt meg 85 éves korában, a Figueres nevű katalán szülővárosában temették el, ahol a munkásságának szentelt múzeum is található.
