I cannot express the anger I experience being unable to do anything about anything while Christians salivate over the idea of the Israel-Hamas conflict being a sign of the Rapture

This idea got very out of hand but:
I just really love the idea of Steve going toe-to-toe against Neil Hargrove with his S1 attitude. Like Neil wouldn’t know how to handle this cocky little All-American hometown golden boy who is used to daddy’s money always saving the day.
Maybe Neil goes after Billy because he finds out about him and Steve, but Steve steps in and is like “yeah I don’t think so.” But we all know Steve isn’t the best fighter, so Neil clocks him.
But instead of getting mad, Steve thinks it’s hilarious because he’s totally about to pull a “my father will hear about this” and tells Neil how bad he’s fucked up and to expect a call from the family lawyer.
And maybe Neil thinks when he tells Mr. Harrington about what Steve and Billy have been up to, then he’ll understand. But he grossly underestimates the toxic impact wealth can have on people so instead Mr. Harrington is just like “I don’t care if my son was sucking cock on Main Street in the middle of the day, a Harrington does what he wants when he wants.”
And Neil is absolutely floored that Mr. Harrington could not care less about his son’s sexuality. Meanwhile Steve’s dad is still just like “My son can sleep with whoever he wants and I can’t believe you would be stupid enough to punch a Harrington. I’m going to ruin you.”
And maybe Mr. Harrington isn’t going to win a Father or Husband of the Year award anytime soon, but he’ll be god damned if anyone is going to lay hands on a Harrington without suffering the consequences.
Following this Billy moves in with the Harringtons and Steve’s parents just jokingly refer to Billy as “Steven’s little boy toy” for a while not taking the relationship seriously, thinking his infatuation is cute but will eventually die off. But then after a while they start noticing Steve doing better in school, becoming more goal-oriented, and realizing the positive impact his relationship with Billy has on him.
So now Billy is basically their son too.

you guys would not believe the multitudes i contain. on the one hand i found myself thinking today "pachelbel's canon fucks. like, severely." on the other hand my 17yo cousin thinks i am "really cool" (he doesn't know about my pachelbel's canon opinions). i tried to go up the down escalator at the airport and didn't realize for SEVERAL steps, then tripped on my suitcase at the bottom and exclaimed "LORD ALMIGHTY!" in the middle of a large crowd of people who had watched this happen. a guy at the airport today saw me writing a crossword and came over to talk to my mom about it because apparently he had been on a flight with us a few days ago and saw me doing the same thing (he asked her if i was "coding". on graph paper, bro??). i wore a long, full-skirted floral dress to a wedding and did a little photo shoot of me manspreading and looking disaffected under a neon sign reading "let's party" and my entire family is obsessed with it. i brought a card and a pen to the wedding and made all of my relatives (including the bride lol) sign it for my grandmother who was unable to attend, but i was also super rude to my mom and had to apologize a few hours later after i had calmed down. a baby puked on me and it made my day. my sister said i have "really good taste in music" (she also doesn't know about my pachelbel's canon opinions) but also i am apparently the person who introduced her to janelle monáe, so point to me. the 17yo who thinks i'm cool seemed reluctant to stop talking to me at the wedding because he was afraid we would not see each other again to which i should have been like "dude do we not have telephones? and the internet?? and are we not both members of this family that gets together every few years???" but instead i was like "i know your address! i'll send you a card!" (he wants to be a dentist so i'm now congratulating myself for having saved every "i got my teeth cleaned!" sticker i was ever given as a child, because now i can send them to him and give him all of my very important anthropomorphized tooth clip art opinions.) walt whitman whomst.

everyone understands that Will had a hard time helping El and standing up for her because he himself has trauma from being bullied his whole life and doesn't know how to fight them back, his reaction to bullying is to freeze. but suddenly no one understands it when it comes to Mike and he's just called an asshole for not being able to stand up and fight El's bullies
i'm not saying he is innocent and did nothing wrong. he could have done more and just handle the situation better but he was just too focused on Will and was in his head and being the otherthinking oblivious dumbass that he is
but just imagine your girlfriend tells you she is having a good time and has friends, she does not mention anything bad and then suddenly she's getting bullied in front of you. when you've been bullied your whole life your first reaction is to freeze, to panic and just wait and hope it passes quickly and they'll leave you alone. Mike did not have any knowledge about her bullying or having any kind of problems, as long as he was aware those people were her friends. he himself has trauma from being bullied (he literally mentions it later on why yall keep forgetting??) and being suddenly thrown into a situation involving bullying can be really distressing.
when you have experience with being bullied even just seeing someone else getting bullied can make you freeze up and panic. and we know that Mike does not stand up for himself when he's the victim. even when you're not on the receiving end of the bullying but you just see it happening and suddenly you're a scared little kid again holding back tears desperately hoping for them to leave you alone.
and i know everyone wants to yell at me "you forgot about Mike standing up to Troy when they were saying shit about Will! so he can obviously stand up for his friends so why can't he for El??" and no i did not forget and yes you may be right but the situations are different. Mike was very well aware of Troy's bullying. he was involved in it. he was the victim there. he's had to deal with his bullying for years it was not a shocking revelation. however he did not know about El's situation at all and your reaction can be very different when you know about something and when you have no knowledge and it suddenly happens
again i'm not saying that he did nothing wrong. i'm just saying that we need to consider his trauma and his point of view and it could make him think less rationally and therefore not being able to help properly. maybe if he knew beforehand that something could go wrong he could be prepared and he would handle the situation better (even if it would be just them seeing Angela and her friends come and they would turn to Mike and say quickly that those people are mean to El he would still have at least some time and could prepare himself). but he did not know that and he was not prepared for this situation to suddenly escalate like this. he was unprepared and probably panicking and didn't know what to do so no he wasn't much of a help.
and maybe we should stop acting like this traumatised 14 years old kid needs to solve every problem and act rationally in every situation and not to make any mistakes (especially when he has no knowledge to prepare him for something distressing) and overall just putting everything on his shoulders and then insult and hate him when it does not end up perfectly well
and maybe i'm just being my overprotective extremely defensive self who's looking too much into this who knows
and i can't even properly put into words what i'm trying to say but if it makes sense to someone then great!

alright hot take time
I don't like season 9 of sg1 and I feel like the ori aren't plot necessary
I understand why o'neill disappeared to DC, rda quit to be a dad and I absolutely respect that and love that for him. cam Mitchell is a little obnoxious, but I can live with him and he has a complex backstory. and Sam x jack is VERY heavily implied and I love that for them.
I just really don't like the Ori. it doesn't feel like the natural progression of the series, and it seems like they just wanted to replace the goa'uld instead of exploring how the galaxy is dealing with their [goa'uld] defeat. all-powerful, worship-fuelled zealot Ancients? ehhhh not feeling it. I'm still watching the last two seasons, but between this and the oddly excessive amounts of recap episodes I'm standing firm with my "atlantis is my favourite" stance.
I almost wish I could un-watch the handful of season 9 episodes, and you can tell that they wanted to and really should've ended at s7 or 8 (I do like the defeat of anubis, and the character development of the sg1 team in s8, so we could keep that one). the one thing I did like was the Vala arc, she was ✨️fun✨️ and her interactions with Daniel were hilarious. she couldn't be trusted to tell you earth only has one moon, but she was fun about it. but the addition of the ori and this new name for the Ancients/Lanteans/"Altreans", it's just confusing.
if anyone disagrees, please reblog/reply I'd gladly hear your take on this. my mum, who I watch stargate with, think that it's the "natural opposite to the Ancients", that theyre "too perfect and science-driven", and there had to be this religious side to them because that's how it is for humans. I disagree. I think that the Ancients are far from perfect, that half of the stuff that sgc crews go through are because of the Ancients' mess-ups, and Oma and that one lady in atlantis that john was with who think that they should be allowed to help humans are enough opposition.

There always seems to be one kid who just screams like a tornado siren, all day long, at any given opportunity. Like, kid, I love you, you are precious and deserve all the happiness in the world; but please for the love of god shut up. There are people trying to learn here and you’re not helping them or yourself.

if you're a US citizen, I strongly encourage you to write your House representative about what's happening in Gaza. Especially if you have a democratic House representative.
The House is the branch that has the power to authorize weapons sales to Israel, so tell your rep that you don't support this sale.
Be polite and understanding. Make an argument that acknowledges the current narrative and thinking. And offer a reasonable alternative. This is roughly what I wrote my rep:
Yes, I understand that Israel has a right and responsibility to respond to Hamas attacks and protect its citizens, but this escalating conflict and indiscriminate bombing does neither. It's only senseless violence. The best way to respond is through targeted efforts to find, arrest, and bring these terrorists to justice.
Rather than give or sell Israel more weapons, we should be pressuring their government, through diplomatic means, to de-escalate and then offer support and aid in the effort to find the Hamas militants and bring them to justice.

A recent post on naval grooming kind of sparked this line of thought. Although Ockham's whole near-death/possession episode didn't start until about 1814, even then, heshethey was a decade or more behind what was fashionable. Whereas this initially stemmed from the idea that if it ain't broke don't fix it, after being pressed by the Royal Navy, the refusal to adhere to regulations became a point of defiance. And Ockham was able to get away with it, to an extent, by virtue of hishertheir novelty position as "the resident Frenchmanwomanperson" ("Krijg de pest ik kom uit fucking Vlaanderen!"). Ockham was a fairly competent sailor and not too openly obstinate, thus a lot of the quiet defiance or derision of the English/Royal Navy's way of doing things was seen as amusing, the ship's funny little mascot acting up... until the moment it's no longer cute or funny. It was a perilous line to walk, and falling on the wrong side of it was bound to land Ockham a date with the cat. As the war reached its tail end, these 'antics' became less and less amusing and Ockham was on fairly thin ice. Things would've likely come to an unpleasant end for Ockham had the entire ship not come to an unpleasant end via cannonfire.
This entire affair likely ties into Ockham's reluctance to adapt to conventional London norms and style. They didn't succeed in 1811, they won't this time either!
