What are your thoughts on Sonegg? Me personally, I think the dynamic could be interesting... if Sonic was older. (I think he's like sixteen-ish?)
No. FUCK no.

Sooooooo...in case some people don't know yet!!
Tumblr media
This is Arthur! Sonally's son, and older brother to Emi (who is far more energetic and peppy than he is.) I've submitted him for the second @sonic-fankid-showdown, so hopefully he gets in. If not, you all get to see him again anyways XD
Arthur tends to look up to his mother, being very serious about his position as prince, and soon king. He views his father as somewhat reckless in his heroics, having a bit of a complicated relationship with him. His father's determination in keeping everyone safe is an admirable trait of his, though. Arthur shows more interest in Eggman than Sonic...not for his evil doings, but for his skills in robotics and intelligence! His little bracelet projects a holographic character but I haven't drawn him yet

[points at scourge] fatherless behavior
[breaks him down into his molecular components and studies him under a microscope]
it’s kinda sad how like…
maybe if he had a better relationship with his dad, maybe if he hung out with better people, he would’ve turned out okay. he would’ve been happy, but no
his dad was somewhat neglectful and absent in his son’s life due to his work
he doesn’t seem to have a maternal figure at all, or any other family for that matter
he fell into a group of not so pleasant people who undoubtedly influenced his behavior, presumably because he was lonely, who obviously didn’t care much for him or form any lasting social bonds
like. from what little we see of him as a kid, he seemed to be kind of quiet and calm until something snapped, until he was tired of being ignored and left alone
Tumblr media
yeah it’s just one panel, but that isn’t a look of malice. that’s just a sad kid who wants some attention, but knows he’s being ignored, or that he’s being brushed off because something else is more important to his dad than his own child, at least in the moment. that’s a somber look of dejection
it’s tragic, really. if he didn’t become so resistant to change as he grew up, to listen to others and be vulnerable, maybe things could have been better. his world’s eggman seemed to be genuinely kind. he could’ve gotten the father figure he so desperately wanted in his life, even if it wasn’t his biological dad
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there’s moments where you see him sort of realize these things i think. where he feels regret. that last panel in the first picture certainly isn’t pure shock, there’s hesitancy to it. a failure to argue against what sonic said. if he hadn’t fallen down this slippery slope into pure unfiltered angst and rage, he might’ve been okay
i love him as a character. he’s a fantastic foil to sonic, and while you can flatten him down to “edgy little snot who swears too much”, there is depth to his characterization. i feel like there’s a lot going on beneath the surface and it’s fascinating
anyway, he’s my blorbo and i can simultaneously fix him and make him worse while also making him into a funny little guy doing a funny little dance

I just want tons of info abt ur paracosms as they look coolio
AAAAHSBSYAHSQH???? THANK YOU???
aaaaa I’m prolly gonna talk a lot so under a readmore we go wheeee
OK SO REBELLION IS MY MAIN BBY RN i love itttt
I’ve mentioned earlier taht it’s gone by a few names at this point like Sonic Boom: Underground (sb:u) and Trouble Keeps you Running Faster (tkyrf) but Sonic Rebellious is prolly gonna be the finalized name 💙💙💙
ANYWAYS it’s a continuation of both Sonic Underground and Sonic Boom, where the events of Sonic Boom take place 10 years after Underground.
A LITTLE is changed abt underground, but for the most part, unless it comes up in the current day of the story (like the backstory between manic and rouge) its probably the same. The backtory for the story, though, is that shortly after the events of underground, the triplets adopted tails as their little brother, before Manic goot killed defending them (he's not actually dead, just captured, but they don't know that.) The grief tore Sonic and Sonia apart, Sonic wanting to run away from the war to keep Tails safe, while Sonia felt bound by a sense of duty. They ended up parting on bad terms, both feeling hurt at the other's descision (Sonia felt it was selfish for Sonic to run, while Sonic felt that Sonia didn't care enough about them to come with).
Meanwhile, Knuckles, guided by a spirit of his people (Tikal) ends up shattering the Master Emerald in a ritual designed to nullify the Chaos Emeralds' power until it can be reformed, in order to keep any from falling into Robotnik's hands again. Unfortunately, the ritual was originally designed so each member of the tribe would have a piece of their mind linked to a shard so they could recover their piece when the time came to rebuild the Master Emerald. However, since Knuckles is the last, his sole mind took on the responsibility of the entire tribe, shattering across the planet along with the shards. As long as he kept one piece, he could retain his mind and memories, but he didn't trust himself to keep it safe in his state, and so he entrusted it to Sonia, losing his memories in the process.
Timeskip to ten years later, Sonic and Tails have made their way and settled into Bygone Island, as has Knuckles, and they, along with Amy, a resident of the island, teamed up to continuously take down Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik, the son of Dr. Julian Robotnik. (They're two seperate characters bc I didn't want to deal with the logistics of making them the same and I felt it would be a neat dynamic. Eggman also mentions having a dad in the show, and it's implied he doesn't have a good relationship with him, so I felt it would work to make them father and son. I'm gonna mention them a lot so from here on: Eggman is the one from Sonic Boom, and Robotnik is the one from Underground).
They've become a pretty close-knit group, with on-again-off-again member Sticks, when suddenly Sonia shows up out of the blue and kinda throws a wrench in everything simply by being there. Meanwhile, Shadow, who works for and believes himself to be created by Robotnik, has grown fed up with his treatment of Manic, who he has secretly bonded with over the years, and breaks him out of his prison. The events of the finale of Boom, where Shadow tries to destroy the multiverse by trappng the two alternate versions of Eggman in his cave hideout, was a test. If they failed, then the multiverse would be destroyed, which Shadow saw as a potentially favorable outcome, but the more likely (as well as his preffered) outcome was that they succeed, and Shadow would be able to trust them to take care of Manic, as he knew he wouldn't be able to for long, since he works for Robotnik (Shadow doesn't know they're siblings at this point)
So Shadow breaks Manic out of prison and has him stay in his cave hideout for a bit while he recovers, and then Shadow goes back to get his medallion. However, Robotnik catches him as he gets it, and so he has to get back to the village as fast as he can. Unfortunately, when Sonic sees Shadow with Manic's medallion (WHo he still presumes is dead), he assumes the worst and flips out and they get in a huge fight. Shadow ends up trying to get back to Manic, only for Sonic and SOnia to chase him down, resulting in their reunion.
Eventually, though, Robotnik catches up, and the village is destroyed. The team does their best to evacuate the villagers, but its only when Eggman is convinced to help do they manage to escape with minimal casualties. (Its for complicated reasons; he says it's because he can't rule over the village if there's no villagers to rule over, but in actuality he's grown attached to Sonic and his friends, and also wants to make a stand against his father and step out of his control).
As they leave the island to return to Robotropolis, Sonia returns the Master Emerald shard Knuckles gave her, restoring a piece of his memory.
ANYWAY thats the beginning of the story and theres a LOT more after that but I haven't decided on an order for everything past that yet RIP
HERES all the characters i have refs for so far (This isn't all the characters, obvi, it just takes a long time to draw refs for every character), and another one with concept art (and stock art for Aleena and Robotnik, since i dont have anything else for them yet rip)
Tumblr media
(from left to right, Sage, Cosmo, Tails, Zooey, Amy, Metal Sonic, Sonic, Sonia, Manic, Knuckles, Shadow)
Tumblr media
(From left to right, Charmy, Cosmo, Tails, Sticks, Amy, Espio, Maria, Silver, Sonic, Sonia, Manic, Aleena, Rouge, Stone, Sleet, Robotnik, Vector, Knuckles, Eggman, Shadow, Dingo)
ALSO YEA mobians in this au have the same average height that humans do bc i thought itd be funny and i like playing with character designs
Cursed Planet / Ruined World
OKAY so these two are techincally the same paracosm with two different casts of characters, one being all fully original characters, the other being mostly canon characters from different media and a handful of fancharacters. HOWEVER, since there's no real plot, I'm gonna talk about the setting, because that's the actual important thing in these two.
The City exists in a pocket dimension, created by an entity that feeds off of the despair and suffering of the living. While she can change and control the entire City on a whim, and create literally anything in her domain, she can't feed off of what she creates, and so she pulls beings from other dimensions to be transported to The City.
The City itself is constantly changing, and only exists as an actual city in its current iteration. It is warped, eldritch, and twists itself to the perception of its inhabitants. The more people fear a place, the more twisted and horrifying it becomes, to match its perception.
Fears increase at night, and so the City becomes more dangerous. That shadow out of the corner of your eye is always exactly what you fear it to be.
While the City itself is entirely under the entity's control, the people she summons to inhabit it aren't, and so she cannot just cause them to suffer. She must use the city to bring them to despair, but the human spirit is indomitable, and hope always has the chance to win out.
(Here's where the main difference in the two lays, the original characters one is mostly cynical assholes with one or two rays of sunshine like Alice Read and Sveta, and their groups tend to struggle a lot more with keeping morale up. Meanwhile, the fandom one has Sonic the g-ddamn Hedgehog, who will literally kill g-d to bring hope to his friends, so, like, the entity's kinds fucked with him around)
Don't Split the Party
heehooheehooheehoo dungeons and dragns :]
this is the one ive had for like, the longst, and its just me putting every character ive ever liked in a dnd settign. It's so big at this point that it doesn't really have one plot, it's an entire world where every person has their own thing going on. The main ones I can think of are Sonic Wachowski, an Elven Ranger going off to save his adopted parents, only to find out that his fox familiar is a shapeshifting Artificer boy, and the misadventures of the Red Guild, particularly Scout as he runs around with Justice and Alyx, a Tiefling Bard and a Fairy Artificer. There's also my parame Rua, the Half-Elf Ranger, and their adventures with their adopted sisters, and their boyfriend Barney Calhoun, a Human Paladin.
There's a LOT going on in that one, so I can't really go over all of it here. A lot of it also follows storylines of other paracosms, just switched to a DnD setting.
Forces: Reloaded
Honestly shoud be called Sonic: Reloaded at this point, as it's gone from a simple Sonic Forces rewrite to an entire paracosm spanning from 06 to Frontiers, and even further, as I even included an adapted version of the Metarex Sage from Sonic X, which is currently the final point in the timeline, though I'm sure that'll change soon enough.
A lot of the changes are about adding or swapping characters around, such as the plotline of Sonic 06. I've written this one up already, so I'll paste it here:
OKAY so Stella replaces Elise as the vessel for Iblis, her father purposefully using them to house the deity, all while Elise stealthily watched. So Elise KNOWS that Stella holds Iblis, and so does everything in her power to keep it contained.
When Stella gets kidnapped by Eggman, Elise wants to go after him to keep Iblis from being unleashed, but can’t leave her station as monarch, and so she sends one of her guards, not knowing that a. Sonic is already on it and b. Stella is having a blast making Eggman miserable and breaking out on their own.
So Elise's role is pulled back to be a lot more of an authority figure, she's the royalty while Stella (the oc) is the 'damseled' one. One major difference this brings is there's no romance between Elise and Sonic, transferring over instead to Stella and Dusk (the guard Elise sends to rescue Stella). I haven't played 06 in a long while, so all this may be subject to change. I just wanted Stella (my self-insert) to be introduced in Sonic 06, as it was my first Sonic game and was what got me into the series in the first place.
Skipping ahead to Forces, as it was the original main focus of the paracosm and as such is the most in-depth, the story starts out the same, with Sonic being very abruptly defeated by Infinite. Except, unlike the game, where he just summons illusions of Shadow, Metal Sonic, Chaos 0 and Zavok before kicking him around for a bit, he... oh i dunno...
CONJURES PERFECT CHAOS, BEFORE CREATING A WHIRLPOOL OF WATER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SQUARE TO DROWN HIM???
Obviously he doesn't kill Sonic, just incapacitates him, but, like, Sonic's got a whole thing about water, why not take advantage of that?
Tails takes just a bit too long trying to figure out Infinite's deal before he creates the whirlpool, and Tails tosses his datapad aside and rushes in to try and save Sonic, only for Infinite to take him down almost instantly.
The story proceeds as normal for a bit after that, with Eggman taking over, Tails going AWOL, and a resistance being formed by Knuckles. Rather than being stationed in Green Hill Zone, however, the headquarters is on Angel Island, meaning only the people Knuckles trusts enough to be near the Master Emerald is allowed in the headquarters. They have other rebel camps stationed all over South Island, but they're small, and they can quickly be overpowered by Eggman's forces.
Meanwhile, Starburst and Sun's parents get killed in the initial attack on Seaside Hill, and they get seperated in the chaos. Starburst finds her older brother buried under a pile of rubble, but Infinite gets to her before she can reach him, taunting her and letting her escape with her life if she leaves her brother to die and flees in terror.
Later, Starburst gets rescued by Amy, and decides to join the resistance.
Meanwhile, Tails has gone a bit off the deep end, and seeks out an old model of Metal Sonic that was destroyed in a battle years prior, and brings it back to his makeshift lab to rebuild and reprogram it. He affixes the fake Chaos Emerald he made back in SA2 to him, using it as a power source, and sets out to train him to be essentially Sonic's replacement. (This guy later becomes Shard.)
Sun actually survived being crushed by a building, and gets fished out by two girls, Flare the Bear and Echo the Fox. They end up getting along like a house on fire, and they agree to help Sun search for his missing sister.
The rebellion discovers that Sonic is alive, and after they launch a rescue mission, Starburst is the one that ends up finding him (This plays out pretty much exactly like the game).
They come back to the base below Angel Island, and take Sonic to the infirmary, only to discover that there's barely any room left. Amy decides that they need to liberate an actual hospital, and fast. Much to Sonic's disappontment, she sends Shadow and Starburst on the mission, as Sonic is still too injured. While Shadow is initially unimpressed and uninterested in working with Starburst, during the mission he warms up to her a little.
Meanwhile, the Metal Sonic that was repaired by Tails has been feeling uncomfortable, both with Tails' insistance at him being essentially a Sonic replacement, and Tails' obvious fear and discomfort towards him. He ends up running away, and though he still defends and protects the people he comes across, they aren't exactly appreciative. He still looks like Metal SOnic, and people are terrified of him, until he encounters one girl.
Aryl's a mechanic and an outcast, with a pet Buzz Bomber that she reprogrammed herself, and she offers to help repair his battle damage. He agrees, and they end up having a mutually beneficial friendship, where he protects her as she scavenges for parts and she repairs any damage he gets as he fights off other badniks.
A lot from this point is similar to the game, with some exceptions, like Shard being the one to fight the Metal Sonic illusion with Sonic on the bridge rather than the rookie, and the Null Space scene being a LOT longer and more impactful on the story, but im starting to get a headache and cant type for much longer so have some art instead
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THERES ALSO A WHOLE THING WITH SEEDRIANS and tails cosmo and omega make up a team for a little while and omega goes I HAVE ONLY HAD TAILS AND COSMO FOR A DAY AND A HALF BUT IF ANYTHING HAPPENED TO THEM I WOULD KILL EVERYONE IN THIS ROOM AND THEN SELF DESTRUCT.
and oh man i didnt even mention the time traveling twin children of infinite from an alternate future where he took over and crowned himself king thats THESE GUYS

I had two days to think about what Sonic Frontiers did to Eggman. Huge spoilers obviously...
When I heard that they were going to do a father-daughter relationship between them, I wasn’t only hoping they would be doing something like Shinji in Evangelion, I was EXPECTING it, it only makes sense to me that Eggman would care for a child as long as they are useful, and even then, only see them as a tool. And that’s really insteresting to me, as far as I remember, most creations of Eggman with free will don’t see him as a father; Orbot doesn’t even respect him at all, and I’d say the closest Metal ever got to acting as a son for Eggman was in Heroes (I mean, that’s if you count the “angsty teenager who thinks their parents just don’t get it”).
I’m not gonna lie, it was intriguing even when I saw that Egg Memo that mentioned it, because it seemed to make sense to me that Eggman would value a creation that has displayed efficiency... but Metal Sonic is already a thing, and he is NOT Eggman’s “son”... you know, unless you’re reading IDW.
It would make a lot of sense for Eggman to create a child because of a “romanticized” version of family IMO, creating another being that exists only to serve him is something that he already does in the form of his countless robots, and he definetly seems to have at least some interest in creating original personalities, as seen in things like Orbot and Cubot, maybe it’s an extension of him wanting to conquer the world, it makes sense that he would enjoy telling other people what to do.
Anyway, my problem with this development is that it makes Eggman too soft. MAYBE I will change my mind, I really want this to be the case, because I don’t want to stop enjoying one of the most consistent characters in this series. I will give it the benefit of the doubt (even if I think it’s undeserved), I haven’t seen all of Frontiers’ scenes yet, so maybe the execution is better.

Could you tell me some fun facts about sonic if you want? I only have passing knowledge of some things but it seems to have a lot of fun stuff.
Sonic is Santa Claus
Tails has a body count (of at LEAST one maybe more)
Knuckles was microwaved as an infant (archie canon that no one uses) this caused his parents' divorce
just read a wikipedia page on Sonic Underground it's so funny. none of it is canon
Eggman and Sonic seem to canonically share a birthday (June 23rd)
Sonic had an adopted robot son in one game that appears to be fully canon just not as well known. he showed up in Sonic X but with a very different story either because of time or they didn't know what it was yet because of release dates. anyway there is a specific reason Sonic's robot son isnt used anymore so watch Sonic Battle to find out its great and in my top two games
Shadow the hedgehog has two dads
Sonic has befriended 2 deities and beat the shit out of 4 (if you want to use the split ones instead of their full forms he's befriended 2 and beat the shit out of 5)
Chaos is an interesting case, apparently somewhere it says he's a mutated chao however I have yet to see the sourse and if it's trustworthy, but he referred to as a deity in Sonic Adventure.
Tails has a dead girlfriend (and her infant child)
Despite SEGA not talking about their exact ages a lot, there are very few important characters whose ages are completely unknown. The two biggest characters this includes is Dr. Eggman, Cream's mom and Sticks
Ian Flynn has confirmed that Tangle and Whisper are dating
Amy can summon her hammer out of no where, other mobians have had a similar ability as well with different things
There is never a Sonic Says that says not to do drugs. There is one about not taking other people's medication, not smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol, but nothing about drugs.
Across canons Sonic has had 6 mothers (including adoptive/figure ones) and 5 fathers (including adoptive/figure ones) the amounts do not overlap as much as you would think, Sonic only had both a mother and father so far in 4 canons, one of those canons his father being dead, and then getting a father figure. one of the canons has two adoptive/figurative mothers. In multiple canons he's had an uncle (Uncle Chuck) as well or instead.
In almost every canon Tails has had a past of being bullied, whether it be for his physical mutation or his smarts. We barely have ever seen it happen, however, the one time i can think of is the flashback to Sonic and Tails meeting in Sonic X, when two kids physically hold him back while they break an invention of his. It is implied that his bullied past contributed to his self-worth issues.
Rouge has mentioned having a mother twice: "Oh, great. Mama always told me that one day I'd get stuck in an alien dimension without a change of clothes."&"Mama told me there'd be days like this."
The only character in the main group with a confirmed alive parental figure is Cream, who has Vanilla (her biological mother). It is implied Vector is in a paternal relationship with Charmy and Espio but nothing is confirmed. As mentioned before Rouge mentions a mother but her living status is unknown. Specifically in Sonic SATAM Tails mentions once having a mother that is no longer around, she is never mentioned again or in any other canon.
Archie Sonic gave lots of Sonic characters biological parents, but due to copyright they have never shown up again, and because of how the stories generally are they haven't attempted anything similar since.
The only characters with confirmed dead parents/parental figures is Knuckles and Shadow
In at least two canons Sonic raised Tails from infancy, and it's implied they've known each other long enough in modern canon for Sonic to raise him. "Well, he was practically raised by Sonic, and he's not known for his patience..."
Rouge had a female partner in Sonic X and they were heavily hinted to be romantically involved. Rouge's first words to her upon being arrested is a bdsm joke, and later Topaz gives her a bejeweled ring asking her to promise not to leave. They are seen hanging out just the two of them outside of work, specifically once when they were eating together. When Rouge goes back to her dimension she gives Topaz a giant gaudy jeweled necklace, and after she left Topaz fell down sobbing.
Tails has had the most age variation when it comes to canons. Modern settled on 8 eventually. In Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog he starts at 4 1\2, the show takes place over 2 years as we see 2 of Sonic's birthdays, so he ends the show at 6-6 1/2. Sonic Satam (which ran at the same time) had Tails as 10.
Multiple Sonic characters are coded as specific races. This includes but is not limited to Knuckles and his tribe who are coded as Jamaican and South-American, Vector is is black-coded, and Espio and Whisper being Japanese-coded. Sonic in 2 canons has had Egyptian or Egyptian-adjacent ancestry, both of these canons while he was voiced by a black man.
The oldest character in the Sonic friend group with a confirmed age is Vector at 20, however Vanilla is of the characters whose ages are unknown and she has a 6-year-old child. The youngest i would put her at is 22, She is probably closer to 24.
The youngest in the group being Charmy and Cream at 6
It's hinted at that Shadow was based on carvings and art of Super Sonic seen in echidna and non-specific ruins. This is hinted at by a copy of the Master Emerald shrine in the ARK, as well has Shadow himself having a recolored model of the original Super Sonic from Sonic Adventure.
Blaze is from a mirror dimension, having their own emeralds, (Sol Emeralds) their own Sonic, (Blaze) Their own Eggman, (Eggman Nega) and their own Tails. (Marine) Specific locations seen in Sonic Rush Adventure are similar to locations in past Sonic games from his dimention.
Eggman Nega is one of the modern characters with conflicting canons, being either from Blaze's dimension or from the future. The other character is Silver.
For Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Robotnik was voiced by Long John Baldry, who had been out as gay for 20 years before the show. Silver's theme song (Dreams of an Absolution) was also written by a gay man who admitted to writing the song about a recent breakup.
Blaze is a princess of an empire meaning when she's old enough she'll be an Empress. The status of her parents are unknown however Sonic Rush Adventure states that she has a family line that protected artifacts, as well as everyone (except Marine) recognizing her as the princess. It is also heavily hinted at in Sonic Rush that she had a rough childhood, and one where she was not around other children and had to learn to control her flame ability.
There's a reoccurring theme of Sonic's opposers being red. Most notably Eggman, then Knuckles, then Shadow, and most recently Infinite. Even if the enemies become friends or allies they remain red. Despite this, the opposite of blue is actually orange, which Tails is.
Tails being yellow or orange has been a debate. Orange is a color that easily changes in lighting so in most circumstances it's hard to tell. In some canons and lighting he's very orange while in others he's very yellow. The wiki lists his fur as "Amber"
Sonic takes a super-esk form in Sonic and the Secret Rings called Darkspine Sonic, the design and name are very similar to Dark Sonic from Sonic X, who only ever appeared in one scene but is still a fan favorite super form. The coloring of Sonic the Werehog is also similar to Dark Sonic.
Knuckles has been hinted to be gay, specifically for Sonic, in multiple canons, this mainly appears in Sonic X.
Sonic killed the time god in 2006, and it is heavily hinted at that he's the only one who remembers this.

Been thinking about the concept of comparing Sonic and Eggman’s relationship to that of a son and father. And I'm thinking about how that kinda tracks because Eggman was probably the closest adult figure Sonic had in his life growing up, so it wouldn't be too surprising if whatever imprinting instincts kicked in in Sonic's young brain and caused some stange attachment to form. But then I thought that if one or either of them view their relationship this way then that makes their relationship like 100000 times more messed up because a father should never do the things Eggman has done to Sonic.
So anyway I might be tossing around a short but extremely angsty fic concept..

More sonic au stuff! I should mention that this au basically tells the story of how eggman rose to power from these hedgehog’s point of view wit a mix of just wholesome “give sonic and friends families who love them please”.
Anyways, more under the cut!
Charles "Chuck" (Sonic, Manic/Sonia, and Tania's Uncle, Tail's Adoptive Father): Chuck is considered by his siblings (even though he is a twin with Aleena) the oldest and by far the wisest out of all of them. He wanted and still does want to bring good into the world and did that by inventing the robotizer when he was young. His intentions were that if you have a life threatening injury, you simply got robotizied for a few months, derobotized, and all your wounds would be fully healed! So with help from Aleena, they teamed up with a human (Eggman) and made it a reality. Except the derobotizer was still a work in process. The only way they knew that the robotitizer worked was because the "youngest" of the four, Maurice was caught in a explosion nearly killing him instantly, but he told them to robotize him for all of their sakes. Of course knowing how eggman came to be, he stole the idea from the machine, created an army and basically took over about 60% of the world. Leaving chuck regretting trusting eggman, losing his brother now under eggman's control, and even getting in a deadly incident as well but fearing the robotizer, only robotizing parts of his legs to add robotic legs after he lost them. Personality wise, he's very kind and gentle but kind of a bastard as well in a fun, chaotic way (egghead may or may not rubbed off on him) but with all the things he went through in the past, he's very hard on himself. He never really takes care of himself whether he doesn't sleep for days, never eats/eats to much, over works to the point of pain; he need s help but usually forgets (or is just to depressed) to ask. But his family and friends keep him going and encourage him to do better. Despite all of this, he's still a very fun dad/uncle who wants things to get better and show off his inventions. And for family/friend relationships: He's still the kind uncle everyone loves but now he has a son, Tails! He found him when he was a baby when he was escaping eggman's bots with sonic and have raised him since. Tail's has definitely looked up to chuck and chuck couldn't be more proud of him. Chuck is currently in a relationship as well with King Nigel (yes, sally's dad but i'll get into that part later) ever since Nigel made him his personal knight. Aleena "Ally" (Sonia/Manic's Mother, Sonic, Tails, and Tania's Aunt): Aleena being Chuck's twin means she spends a lot of time with him. So while he went into engineering to help the world, She went into doctoring to do the same. To the point she was the "medical" side to the robotizer making sure the body heals properly. But of course chuck got fooled by eggman and the world went kaput. While chuck was trying to fix everything to the point of pushing himself to the brink while taking care of sonic and tails, Aleena was busy helping casualties while pregnant with the twins Manic and Sonia. Similarly to chuck on how he lost his legs to a battle, Aleena lost her arm to a nasty infection caused by working on patients and by not taking herself as well as she should've. After all of that, she and chuck stuck together ever since working with each other to get better both physically and mentally. Aleena has always been very motherly to everyone including her brothers. But underneath that sweet exterior you have a stubborn and tough hedgehog ready to fight at anytime. If you so dare hurt her family she WILL beat you to the ground. Similar to chuck though she does forget to take care of herself and have depressive episodes as well but not as severe as chuck. Mostly she gets very overprotected on her kids and bros to the point she'll get frustrated with them if they call her out. She currently isn't in a relationship with anyone and rather not be. As for the reason she had the twins she simply wanted to be a mother. So she found a donor to help her and she's been a single mom since. Though everyone was really worried about her going through with the pregnancy since she had them late in her life. Paul "Roly Poly" (Tania's dad, sonic, tails, sonia/manic's uncle): Out of all the siblings Poly is probably the most "unique" out of the four. As in, he's not as out going as his siblings and had nothing to do with the robotizer. He was more of the emotional support for all of them during it. Making sure they got their rest, cooking and cleaning etc. In fact, he had his suspicions about Eggman the older he got! So when his bro got robotized and eggman took over he kinda saw it coming. But he has been with his sibs every step of the way! And unlike his siblings who basically turned into cyborgs, he's the only one without any robotic parts. He took care of both Aleena during her pregnancy and Chuck when he was so injured he was bed bound and without his legs. Kinda becoming the big bro of the family even though he's considered the second youngest. Poly out of the four is by far the strongest and heaviest. Earning the nickname "Roly Poly" by curling into a ball and crashing through walls and bots with ease. He's surprisingly very quiet and a very relaxed person. But he has a history being very lazy and scams people (mostly humans which i'll get into later) out of money and stuff. But his siblings catch on quick and always put a stop to it. Also unlike his siblings he is kinda a vagabond. He loves to travel the world to learn about cultures, even into eggman territory just to mess with them. But he isn't alone on his travels, his daughter Tania tags along as well. He used to be married but sadly his wife died during childbirth. Because of this, he wants to give Tania the best and teaches her everything he knows, which isn't much since most people consider Poly the dumbest out of the four. He did used to be pilot at one point but gave up on it to raise Tania. But he doesn't travel as much as he used to and lives with his sibs to of course raise his daughter. Maurice "Maury" (Sonic's dad, tails, tania, sonia/manic's uncle): Finally it's time to meet the "youngest" out of the four and the father of Sonic, Maurice. Maurice similarly to Poly, didn't have much to do with the robotizicer except that he was the first to be both robotized and derobotized. He is a musician, loves to sing and play instruments whenever he can. but one day when he was with his sibs an explosion nearly killed him, thus begging to be robotized because 1. To see if it truly can save him and 2. To see Sonic the day he will be born. While the robotizing worked, eggman quickly took control of Maurice and the world, and the rest of Maurice's memories are blury. A mix of working on machines, fighting the freedom fighters, and the occasional panic of randomly regaining conscious wondering what is happening before being put back under. One day as Chuck was helping the FF, he recognized Maurice and immediately took him home even though his own little brother was trying to kill him. And after helping him regain his memories and a tearful reunion, they got started right away on the derobotizing process (which funny enough, also wasn't fully trusted) and he was somewhat back to normal! As in, since he's been in a robot shell for 15 years instead of the four months he should've been, he growth was severely stunted and malnourished, making him hospitalized for a good couple of months and his eyes never brought back to normal. But he didn't care cause he was back home. Out of all the siblings he is the loudest and happiest of the bunch. To the point it can be annoying to some. But he can easily bring a smile to anyone's face. As well as being cheerful he can also be quite emotional. Getting upset easily and freaking out over small things. As stated before he's a musician, loves to sing and dance and creating new songs. His relationship with Sonic is interesting cause he knows that Chuck is more of a dad then he'll ever be, but Sonic still loves Maurice and wants to take him on adventures even though Maurice's health is keeping them from doing so. As for his relationship he's still married to Sonic's mom, Static the Cheetah even after they reunited. They've always had a strong bond ever since they met and want to keep it that way.

Belle Tinker from the Sonic IDW comics gives me good Moomin/Pinocchio vibes! Seriously, she looks like a character for a children's book.
She really does! ^^
But man, I just really adore her design! I love her toy-like appearance and she just exudes so much personality! We've never had a Sonic character quite like her before, yet she still fits in nicely with the general aesthetic!
And if you'll allow me to put my speculation cap on, not only is she wearing an outfit matching Mr. Tinker's, but I've also noticed her fur(?) color is pretty much identical to that of Tinker's/Eggman's mustache!
Tumblr media
The way her hair looks sorta reminds me of Eggman's mustache too, especially that somewhat messy bit in the front. Her pink nose could even be interpreted as being based on Eggman's own, and her blue eyes also match the color of his glasses!
But a heartbreaking revelation dawned on me after thinking about that: seeing how much Belle seems to take after Tinker, down to the clothes, hair, and built-in engineering aptitude, it's almost like Tinker built himself a daughter... 😢
I mean, I know a lot of fans jokingly interpret Eggman's relationship with Metal Sonic as being almost like a father/son relationship, but with Tinker and Belle it seems much more sincere. (and that's just based on what info I could glean from just analyzing Belle's design! lol)
Though this is all just speculation on my part, of course. ^^; lol
But anyway, yeah. I'm pretty much in love with this character already, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens with her in the comic! ^^ (hopefully it won't totally destroy me... 😭)
Sorry for the rambling. lol

276. Sonic Universe #7
Tumblr media
Mobius: 30 Years Later (Part 3 of 4): What's Old is New Again
Writer: Ian Flynn Pencils: Tracy Yardley! Colors: Jason Jensen
Sally is currently in the middle of dealing with two tired, confused children and an unconscious Silver, leading them through the lower levels of the castle to the panic room. The kids, of course, have no idea what's going on, and aren't taking things seriously, making her job somewhat more difficult. Meanwhile, Sonic, Lara-Su, Melody, and Skye show up at Argyle's door (whose name is misspelled "Argyll" throughout the issue, for some reason) looking for help. He and Lara-Su are pretty clearly in a relationship given how they act towards each other, but there's no time for lovey-dovey nonsense today. Unfortunately, most of the old Freedom Fighters and Chaotix are scattered all over the world and nowhere nearby, but at the very least, Argyle did have some foresight once he got the call from Lara-Su.
Tumblr media
Well, who might that be? Meanwhile, Lien-Da and her Dark Presence guards are in the catacombs under the castle, with the just-freed Shadow. He's infuriated when she informs him of how much time has passed and how the people have wholeheartedly accepted Sonic as their king, and strides with purpose through the catacombs, bringing Lien-Da and a few guards along. Weirdly enough, he's able to unlock a secure door with the override phrase "Maria's Wish," which I suppose ties into a comment made last issue about how Sonic didn't let Knuckles completely overhaul the castle's security system after they took the castle from Shadow's regime. You left a lot of backdoors open for your enemies, Sonic! Shadow seems pleased at whatever it is that lies behind the door, while Lien-Da is abruptly terrified.
Back in Argyle's house, it turns out that the two people he called for help are Jacques and Belle D'Coolette, who are, of course, Bunnie and Antoine's kids! Interestingly, they both have one robotic arm and leg each, and this is never explained - of course there's no way Bunnie would have passed on being half-roboticized to her kids, and anyway, though she's never actually seen in this particular AU, the proto-Light Mobius shown in the Sonic In Your Face! special way back in the very first era of the comics depicted her as having been fully deroboticized at some point. That would have had to have happened as well in this timeline, I'd imagine, since otherwise there's really no way for her to have had children. Jacques and Belle also use a mixture of French and Southern slang, which is really endearing, honestly. But anyway, with Jacques and Belle on the scene, the group's numbers are up to seven, counting Sonic, Skye, Melody, Lara-Su, and Argyle, the last of whom plans to stay behind and feed them info.
Tumblr media
Down in the catacombs, Shadow approaches a large spherical glass container, which is full of greenish goo that forms itself into the shape of Tikal. This being, whom he calls "Tikhaos," looks awful, murmuring about how horribly lonely and hungry she's been. As Shadow reassures her and promises to let her out and "feed" her, Lien-Da begs him to reconsider, obviously terrified of Tikhaos.
Tumblr media
*sigh* I know, I know I've already gone over a million times why I hate King Shadow and I think his characterization here is an insult to the entire character of Shadow the Hedgehog, but this is just yet another example of why it's so bad. Lien-Da was loyal for five years without him, risked everything to bring him back, and all she wants in return is to be able to be with her son again, and Shadow outright kills her by erasing her from the timeline just because she dares to question one decision he makes. It's what you'd expect from someone like Eggman, not Shadow.
Ugh. Anyway, Sonic, Belle, and Jacques charge the front gate of the castle to create a distraction, while Lara-Su, Melody, and Skye go in a hidden back window unnoticed. Skye is still getting used to flying, resulting in him becoming pretty dizzy on the way up. However, this quickly proves itself to be a secret asset, as they approach the security room full of Dark Eyes and figure out how to take them out.
Tumblr media
That… works, I suppose! Sonic's team is saved from having to break down the front door by Melody who lets them in, and Sonic questions Argyle about Sally, to which he replies that he can confirm she made it to the panic room with the others and is working on actually contacting her. He's then distracted by something else he's picking up from within the Dark Presence's communications, and tells them they should head down to the catacombs as something crazy seems to be going on down there. Sonic, still wanting to get to his family first, asks Lara-Su if she can see what's happening down there.
Tumblr media
Like father, like daughter! Argyle finally manages to patch Sonic through to his wife, and Sally confirms that they're fine, that Silver is beginning to wake up, and that most importantly, they have a few monitors within the room that they've been able to watch the proceedings on. Their kids are excited at all the action, but Sonic is more concerned with asking Sally what exactly is being kept down in the catacombs that's so dangerous. She lists off a few noodle implements that suggest some truly crazy shenanigans from earlier in the timeline, but of course, we know what Shadow is actually after…
Tumblr media
Shadow begins to blast Chaos energy into Tikhaos, who begins screaming that it's too much and she's losing control, and the Dark Presence guards panic and leave, yelling about how they "didn't sign up for this" and they have to evacuate the island. Sonic and his new band of Freedom Fighters get ready for a big fight as they make their way into the catacombs, but…
Tumblr media
Anyone who's studied history knows that it likes to repeat itself, and so, as we've seen once before with Perfect Chaos itself, the castle begins to crumble under the stress of a massive rush of water that begins to flood the entire city of Portal. Sonic and his team escape the castle safely, and from the relative safety of a nearby bit of rubble, they watch as "Perfect Tikhaos," which really just looks exactly like Perfect Chaos except green and with echidna dreads (it looks cooler than it sounds, I promise), begins to tear the city apart…

The Sonic/TF Crossover: Comic Cannon Changes List
Sonic The Hedgehog/Transformers Crossover Continuity Changes:
Here’s a list of minor things that will have changed from what happened in the canon of the Archie Comics or outright omitted.
01: Sally does NOT let Max Steamroll her: At first Sally does cow a bit when Max starts to assert his authority, but quickly his dismissal of her achievements, disbanding the FF and inability to flex his views and traditionalist mindset drive a wedge between them. This comes to a climax when Elias is revealed and unlike the comics where Sally was presented as mostly confused, there is LIVID anger and she lets Max know it. To Sally, it was one thing to have her opinions dismissed as she could rationalize Max’s traditionalist mindset; but the revelation of her Mother still being alive and NEVER being told she had a Brother spoke volumes of how little Max seemed to care about her beyond his traditionalist views on how she should behave and act. She also refuses Max’s separating her from her FF friends, and spends as much time with them as she can, since she feels more love and acceptance from them than her Father. Plus her friends help her ‘vent’ and get things off her chest so she’s less likely to bottle it and explode on the wrong person, but plenty of her anger remains deep down, but she has outlets to focus at least and people who care.
At this point, Sally becomes very cold to Max but remains cordial if just to not give him ammo to start an argument and she’d rather focus on getting to know her older sibling and her Mother’s recovery. However; with Max almost putting Elias to his ‘Princely duties’ soon as he gets home and shuts her out even more. Despite not trying to put this on Elias the resentment starts and so Sally focuses on FF stuff, but does not shut out Elias own attempts to get to know the other. Her resentment lessens as Elias confides he feels as used as she was since he feels his Father wants a ‘yes man’ Prince more than a son. This mutual resentment towards Max helps them bond and for Sally to get over any ill will she felt towards Elias. While Elias keeps his resentment close to the chest, Sally already the pariah becomes less tight-lipped on her disagreements with her Father but maintains some civility for Elias’ sake. When their Mother is revived and Max is injured to the point of being unable to walk, both dial back their issues with Max and try to focus on their family.
Alicia once fully recovered and brought up to speed, sees the discord in the family and tries to help mend things. She manages some mending but Sally while openly warm and happy with her Mother is distant and less cordial but ‘tolerating’ of Max. Through the story motions, there are ups and downs with the Acorn Family, especially once Elias runs away and Sally fully unloads at Max, letting off pent up issues she kept lowkey for her Mother and Brother’s sake, and before leaving the castle tells Max she fully blames him and St. John for Elias running out of their lives barely after returning to it.
Alicia now aware of certain things pulls off a mixture of chastising her Husband for the secrets and treating Sally and Elias; but also consoling him some as she can see that this incident was eating Max to the core as the guilt, Elias’ letter and Sally’s words finally started to undermine the surefire validity Max felt towards his actions.
Things (mostly thanks to Alicia and Sonic himself of all people who had every beef with Max as Sally did) settle some with Max making an attempt at mending fences with Sally. Sally very much still angry agrees to ‘have talks and discussions, for Mother’s sake’. Over time, especially once Elias location and living status is affirmed things ease up and Sally while in no mind to forgive Max yet, is willing to ‘try again’ and things become pleasant for the Acorns, even to the point Max lets go of his bias against Sonic when Sally tells her parents her desire to openly date Sonic and gives his blessing.
Then the Xorda invasion happens and with Sonic seemingly dead, Sally shuts down partially and focuses on her FF duties since she doubts Robotnik will uphold his truce for long. During this period, Elias concerned for his Sister takes to visiting her semi-frequently, taking walks through the forest or Elias accompanying her on scouting missions, letting the two siblings vent and deepen their bond (as well as give Elias a taste of action).
Then that fateful day in the wastes near the Great Forest, they find that buried alien ship…
02: One Robotnik, one Eggman, ONE Doctor:
Unlike in the comic canon, when the original Dr. Robotnik returns briefly, instead of that silly plot where at the end he vanishes anyway; the original is a bit testy when he returns that ANOTHER HIM is running the show! However, after initial hostility, both Doctor’s realize they should focus their hate on a proper target. Now working side by side properly, Dr. Eggman discovers his counterparts instability and so measures to prevent this long enough for the two to get revenge together is made. However surprisingly Eggman and Robotnik find themselves getting along despite their mutual treacherous natures. The cat and mouse game between ‘equals’ gives them a sense of dark joy and a benchmark to improve themselves. This leads to Eggman proposing a radical procedure that would ‘ensure they’d never be apart’. Between his own twisted enjoyment of Eggman’s company and not wanting to fade away to nothing again, Robotnik agrees and soon, the two enter an experimental device that fuses the two together. The same man but from two dimensions; rotund but also ‘beef-lanky’ in the right places. With coat and stylish cape, the new Robotnik fusion takes his place to run his Empire and DESTROY THAT ACCURSED HEDGEHOG!!
03: No Locke, you don’t get to microwave the baby and eat your cake too.
Much like Sally Knuckles isn’t, as accepting of the things Locke tells him. When he confronts Locke and gets the 411, he’s torn. He’s still elated his Father isn’t dead but now he’s livid at the lies and, well now he’s wondering if he had ANY control in his life, and also develops a worry about his own genetics. On the sly Knuckles has doctors check him to be sure nothing’s wrong. It doesn’t become a supremely obsessive paranoia, but once or twice Julie or one of the Chaotix consoles him if ‘anything wrong does happen, we got your back’. Furthermore while Knuckles tries to be open-minded about the Brotherhood and their methods, he slowly develops a disdain for a chunk of it, especially when certain things come to light, and when Motari Rex is revealed to have been impersonating Tobor for years, he criticizes the Brotherhood for not noticing such a crucial thing and who knows how much pain Rex/Tobor caused under their own noses.
Locke for his end stubbornly feels his actions and those of the Brotherhood are mostly justified but between Knuckles words, the Rex/Tobor revelation, the raid on Haven, and other things give him pause for rumination. The other Brotherhood members also give pause but still fall back to their ‘tried and true’ methods, which furthers Knuckles distance from them and his admonishment of their actions.
They come to a head when the Brotherhood refuses to get involved with Robotnik wars on the surface when Sally comes calling. Livid more than usual, Knuckles calls out the Brotherhood and tells Sally aside before she goes home if she needs help HE and the Chaotix will come if they can. Likewise, Sally offers her own help to Angel Island and the two old friends find another avenue to bond over, Father issues.
This causes a minor schism within the Brotherhood, some now questioning if they’ve gone too far, and if they should revise some of their methods given how many things were implemented by ‘Tobor’ of all of them. How many were purposely flawed? Spectre as Pro-Brotherhood as he is; feels they should reevaluate their methods. Especially given his one-time imprisonment by the Dark Legion was not such a coincidence and that his ‘harsh training’ worked by a lucky fluke it would seem.
Locke and some others maintain they should stay the course, but they all have some form of doubts and agree to discuss the matters as they come. Of course, ongoing events keep the Brotherhood from truly ironing out these issues. With the Legion’s attacks Knuckles turning briefly into a Chaos Being only to die, cause many setbacks to reorganize, culminating in the majority of the Brotherhood being taken by Robotnik’s Egg-Grapes and Locke a prisoner of the Dark Legion when they take over the island due to Knuckles and the Chaotix’s absence following the Xorda invasion.
04: The Troubles of Geoffery St. John:
With recent Penders-BS events, I have to do something about the skunk.
First up, he and Sally NEVER have any romantic relationship. Geoff does flirt with her a lot, and Sally is flattered by the attention, torn between liking it and also being off-put by their age gap.
Geoff keeps his hands to himself but he does seem to push for things to happen between him and Sally, and he still takes joy in flirting with her when Sonic is around to get a rise out of him. While Sally feels a little torn at times, it’s Rosie Woodchuck who becomes the voice of reason when Sally asks for advice.
“He’s how old? Hmm, well I’d be wary of a man who makes gestures like that to a teenager when he’s over 18.”
“So I should shut him down entirely Rosie?”
“My Princess, that is up to you, but for my two bits? Yes, he should be making flirtations with someone his own age, not you. A shame really, his Father Ian was a gentleman, flirty and suave yes, but only at the right time and NEVER to someone underage. Makes me wonder who raised that boy during all this time…?”
So yeah, Geoff and Sally never liplock and whether Geoff made moves due to his plans to undermine the kingdom, or he’s a creep or both… I’ll let the story’s chemistry decide at that point. He’ll back off when Sally lays it out her interest is non-existent and so Geoff just… remains a jackass, one with skills and does help the heroes but he’ll still be wracking that karma to get knocked down a peg when he and his Team get Nano’machined into uselessness, and Elias holding him in contempt for using him as a cudgel to undermine Sonic by stripping him of his knighthood.
05: Transformers, everywhere:
As mentioned in many posts, the ties to old Earth, Cybertron, and modern Mobius will be discovered and felt throughout the story. The Source of All was an experiment of Shockwave’s, Humanity survived by hiding inside a Cybertronian Titan that was stasis locked in city/ship mode, the Echidna’s became so advanced ahead of everyone because they found a Mind-Linking Data Cube from one of the ship crashes, etc etc.
That’s it for now. Of course, this just covers what I can recall and when I expand this list I’ll re-submit it unless said ‘changes’ to the canon is due to a story secret that; well you’ll have to read it to find it out. ^_~
--
As per usual, veeery sensible changes to be made here. I rather like the touch about the old Robotnik and the current Eggman merging into a new, gestalt of the two. It’s something I’ve toyed with myself from time to time. Either way though, definitely approving of all of this, in particular the elimination of certain details regarding Geoffrey that we wish we could ALL forget.
Keep it up!

207. Sonic the Hedgehog #139
Tumblr media
Return to Angel Island (Part 2): Avatar
Writer: Karl Bollers Pencils: Jon Gray Colors: Jason Jensen
With Sonic and Knuckles and their crew all surrounded by the Dark Legion, everyone leaps into battle, fighting their way through the Legion soldiers in the hopes of escape. However, the fight is soon interrupted by none other than Lara-Le shouting for everyone to stop fighting, as they're all on the same side. She's sporting a brand new and adorable bushy hairdo, and seems unharmed.
Tumblr media
Resistance, huh? Well, I suppose the Legion would be far more equipped to handle fighting back against the dingoes than the larger echidna populace would be. Lara-Le leads everyone into the underground cavern the refugees have been staying in, watched over by the Hidden Palace where the higher-ups of the Legion are residing. Knuckles is surprised to meet a white-and-black-patterned echidna who introduces himself as Dr. Finitevus, who explains how they've been watching over the refugees here, and he leads the heroes up to the palace, where Lien-Da, the leader of the whole operation, awaits them. She's just oozing with false sweetness, explaining to Knuckles, who is growing rapidly more angry and suspicious, that Lara-Le was the one who sent the message about his father's capture to him. Knuckles angrily demands to know where the Master Emerald is, so she orders everyone but him and Sonic to stay behind and leads them further into the palace. As they walk, they're baffled to see a strange tapestry depicting some unusual imagery…
Tumblr media
Now where could something like that have come from? It seems that sometime in the past, Sonic and Eggman must have traveled into the past and duked it out in full view of whoever was present back then, and a tapestry was made about it. I guess we'll have to find out later what the deal with that is though, because Lien-Da leads them through another door, and in the room beyond Knuckles is shocked to see the Master Emerald hooked up to a lot of machinery. Apparently, when Eggman first invaded the island, the entire Brotherhood of Guardians fought to protect the emerald, and while they succeeded they've been missing ever since, with the sole exception of Locke.
Tumblr media
Wow, there's a lot going on here. So Knuckles' sacrifice for Dimitri was useless after all? Apparently, Dimitri is gone now, and Lien-Da is in charge of everything. Furthermore, Knuckles is now totally overcome by pain whenever he gets too close to the Master Emerald, which he realizes is a consequence of returning from the afterlife that Aurora tried to warn him about. That night he sits with his friends, feeling trapped and frustrated, as he can't even rush in to save his father yet - they're waiting on word from their double agent inside the dingoes' ranks to give them the signal. Suddenly, he finds himself approached by a small family with a big request.
Tumblr media
Yikes, Finitevus, chill out! I mean… you're half right, but chill out anyway! Finitevus furiously rants for a little while longer about how Knuckles isn't here to save them and the prophecy isn't real before stomping away. Sonic awkwardly tries to cover for Knuckles to the stunned family, but Knuckles stops him and says honestly to the couple that he's not capable of performing miracles and can't help them. As they walk away, Julie-Su and Vector get into a brief argument, with Vector saying they can't know if the prophecy is actually true while Julie-Su argues that she thinks Finitevus is right, however much of an asshole he is. Knuckles blows up angrily, yelling at them to stop fighting, that he's been hit in the face by surprise after surprise since he came back, and he's tired of it. Unfortunately for him, at that moment his mother arrives with one more surprise for him… and hands over his baby brother!
Mobius 25 Years Later: Slumber Party
Writer: Ken Penders Pencils: Steven Butler Colors: Jason Jensen
Aaaaand back to this. Julie-Su, Sally, and Abby all put together some snacks for the kids upstairs, because since they're the womenfolk they have to prepare the food and look after the children while the men are off doing… uhh, manly stuff. Lara-Su has invited her friends Salma and Riki-Le over, and together with Manik and Sonia they have a bona-fide sleepover on their hands. Manik is the only boy and the youngest one there, and apparently he's a bit of a budding pervert, suggesting to everyone that they play the classic party game Spin the Bottle. He tries to explain to everyone how it's played, but when the two moms enter the room and ask what game they were about to play…
Tumblr media
Ah, it appears that Lara-Su has encountered this trick before - plus Manik isn't exactly subtle about his crush on her, so she's naturally already suspicious. Lara-Su dodges questions from the adults about her comment by first making fun of Salma for dating Rutan, and then suggesting they play a board game instead of continuing to discuss the matter. Meanwhile, Manik finds Sonic alone in the other room playing pool, which is I guess the most "dad" thing Penders could think of for Sonic to be doing at a family get-together (and to be fair, it kind of is).
Tumblr media
Well at least now he's being an actually decent dad instead of repeatedly trying to drown his own son. Bizarrely, Julie-Su and Sally both stick around with the teen girls to hang out instead of leaving them alone to be, well, teen girls, and Lara-Su and Sonia get around to asking their moms about why their dads fight so much. Hey, that's a question I think we'd all also like to know, Penders! Sally says that she honestly doesn't know, as while they have a lot in common they've been like "oil and water" from the moment they first met. Lara-Su recalls that Knuckles and Julie-Su were once like that, but Julie-Su lets her in on the "secret" that for her, it was love at first sight with Knuckles, though it obviously took them a while to admit it to each other. Ah, that whole Soultouch thing, remember? I still think that's a poor excuse for getting two characters together, allowing Penders to use the flawed reasoning that they were just fated to be together or something, especially considering that all things considered Knuckles and Julie-Su actually do have a lot of chemistry even without such an excuse. Like… their whole relationship could have worked out just the same without the whole Soultouch plot point, so I still don't get why Penders even had to include it. Anyway, that's literally the end of the issue - the issue just kind of cuts off mid-conversation, and we see Knuckles looking out a window alone, and that's it! This is the first issue that actually introduced absolutely nothing significant, not even a throwaway line about this timeline's history or yet another reiteration of how the weather is bad lately! Wonder how much longer this will drag on before we're set free.

173. Sonic the Hedgehog #105
Tumblr media
You Say You Want a Revelation?
Writer: Karl Bollers Pencils: Ron Lim Colors: Josh and Aimee Ray
We're finally back to the main series plot! Sonic is disheartened to see Nate's things being moved out of his house, knowing that by leaving Nate behind in Robotropolis they consigned him to the fate of roboticization. However, he's not content to leave him in there without at least trying to rescue him, and so leads Tails and Uncle Chuck to the castle in the hopes of talking to Elias, unaware of his disappearance. In Robotropolis, Hope goes to her step-father along with her grandmother to voice her concerns about the Robians she saw escaping the city, stating her beliefs that her uncle created them. Colin initially refuses to believe her, but Eggman steps out of the next room with Snively, grinning evilly as he informs them that she's totally right. Back in the castle in Knothole, King Max is experiencing true regret for perhaps the first time since we've seen him come back from the Zone of Silence.
Tumblr media
Sorry, Alicia, but I have to wholeheartedly disagree. A lot of this is Max's fault - he refused to listen to either his son or daughter, and picked someone who was clearly not cut out to be a leader to put in charge of everything, over his daughter who was trained her whole life to lead a kingdom. In Robotropolis, Eggman airs an announcement over every screen in his city that he's "discovered" that everyone is infected with toxic waste poisoning, and must come to him for treatment immediately lest they succumb and die. Colin is outraged, pointing out that Eggman should be infected as well then, only for Eggman to reveal his true colors - literally - as a robot.
Tumblr media
Uncle Chuck and Sonic both explain their plan to use the sword to King Max, who seems somewhat apathetic, upset not only at the loss of his son, but the loss of Nate as well. He's uncertain, as he only knows of two people who can even use the sword's abilities: himself, and –
Tumblr media
Max reluctantly agrees to Sally's plan, ordering her to take Sonic with her as an escort. Sonic is pleased, but finally notices Sally's somewhat lackluster responses to everything he says, asking her if he did something to upset her. Before she can respond, Mina suddenly rushes up, hugs Sally while thanking her profusely for saving her mother, and then races off again, leaving her speechless. Meanwhile in Robotropolis, Hope runs for her life through the streets, trying to hide in a back alleyway with Eggman's voice following her the whole way. He finds her through a hidden screen in the alley, and tries to manipulate her into surrendering by saying he'll spare her grandmother. Agnes, of course, yells for her not to listen, and as Hope watches…
Tumblr media
Hope is surrounded by shadow-bots, but Sonic suddenly appears, smashing them up and ushering her over to Sally for protection. Eggman is furious to see her being rescued, until he hears Sonic's voice behind him, Sonic of course having run at light speed all the way into his headquarters. Eggman tries to grab hold of him to roboticize him, but Sonic smashes the floor underneath him, sending them both plummeting into the room below. There, Sonic is horrified to find a familiar, frozen face staring back at him.
Tumblr media
Eggman gloats that the sword doesn't seem to affect roboticized Overlanders, and then, with the rest of the city's Overlander population gathered within the room, offers them a demonstration. He calls Snively forward, informing him that he, too, is poisoned from the toxic waste, and while Snively is upset, having thought that as his lackey he would have been protected, Eggman offers him a deal - take his hand. You see, apparently Overlanders only become frozen after roboticization if they're unwillingly turned, but if they take the offer of their own free will, they retain their ability to move and act… and with a grin, Snively takes his uncle's hand.
Tumblr media
And that is the awful true scope of Eggman's plan. He let everyone live within his city for two months, ensuring that they'd become sick, and then offered them supposedly the one thing that could save them, making sure that they'd have to take his offer willingly and become his slaves. Of course, we just watched this backfire, but Eggman knows that by rejecting his offer and going with Sally and Sonic, all the Overlanders are likely to get even sicker and stretch the already strained resources of Knothole. However, we know that Sally is smarter than that, and there's already a hidden city of Overlanders - or sorry, humans - out there that might have some room…
Before we move on to the conclusion of Myth Taken Identity, we have another character file to peruse - this time, for Snively! Unlike the previous couple, this one actually contains some new information about his life - but first, the technical info. Calculating his real-world height gives us the absurdly-short height of 97 cm, or 3'2". For reference, someone is considered to have dwarfism if they're anywhere below 147 cm or 4'10" tall, so Snively definitely qualifies. (Nate Morgan probably would too, but we're never actually given any information on his measurements, so there's no way to say for certain.) Snively also weighs 38.4 kg or 84.5 lbs, and his birthday is on May 14. Interestingly, his birth year indicates that he's actually only thirty years old! He definitely looks a lot older due to male-pattern baldness, but if you think about it it makes sense - after all, he's Robotnik's nephew, and the original Robotnik was likely in his late forties or early fifties at the time of his death.
What really makes this entry noteworthy, however, is his life history. He was born Colin Kintobor, Jr., which is an ordinary enough name, and his mother died giving birth to him. He was treated terribly by his father Colin Sr., who is actually the one who gave him his nickname. You'd think it would have been Robotnik who stuck him with such a humiliating nickname, but no, his own father called him Snively because of his lack of social skills. He compensated all throughout his childhood by immersing himself in the world of technology, and found a way to take advantage of every friend he made. He was kicked out of the house as a teenager, and with nowhere to go, turned to his uncle Julian, whom he helped seize power over the Kingdom of Knothole. However, he soon found himself being mistreated by his uncle as well, and as we know, eventually grew so resentful that he rigged the Ultimate Annihilator to target only Robotnik so he could be free of him once and for all.
While one could argue that these are the actions of a sociopath, or a narcissist, I'm gonna go ahead and say that Snively would have had a very different personality had he actually grown up with a family who loved him and looked after him. All this poor kid ever knew was bullying and emotional abuse. He's been taught, by life and by the actions of those around him, that the only way to look after himself is to be selfish, and to latch onto those more powerful than him for security. I touched on once before that Snively seemed to be basically in an abusive relationship with Robotnik, and didn't know how to go on after he thought he was dead, but this page confirms that things are only sadder than we originally realized. It was this page, plus some other events further into the comic, that made me realize that I actually liked Snively as a character, and wanted to see him break free of Eggman's control and come into his own. Unfortunately, having just allowed himself to be roboticized, that's not likely to be happening any time soon…
Myth Taken Identity (Part III)
Writer: Mike Gallagher Pencils: Nelson Ribeiro Colors: Frank Gagliardo
Guru Emu, upon discovering the dam from last issue, has found himself with rekindled hope that he can find and save his friends who have been kidnapped by the bunyip. He descends into the dam, discovering that it was originally constructed by Crocbot, who of course used it to power his various weapons and detention camps. It turns out that this dam is behind the strangely dry riverbeds and the disgusting lake, as it's been disrupting the local ecosystem, even more so now that it's abandoned and not being maintained. But what of Walt, Barby, and Bill? Well, as it turns out, they're also inside the dam, protected by an airtight compartment with a window through which they can see the bunyip gazing in at them. Barby, apparently, speaks many languages, including whatever ancient language the bunyip speaks, and convinced it that they're no threat. She gets it to explain its plight, as well as why it's been attacking everybody.

I mean, that hardly seems like a good excuse for just attacking random people on the street who clearly aren't Crocbot, but the Downunda Freedom Fighters want to help anyway. While Barby informs the bunyip that Crocbot was defeated some time ago, Guru races down the hallway toward them, having overheard everything. He has discovered a room full of explosives elsewhere in the complex, and so…

The bunyip is grateful, and leaves to spend its happy days in the clean water, and though the D.F.F. briefly consider inviting it to join their team, they ultimately decide that they'd rather stay as a four-person group from now on, knowing that no one can replace Stu.
And now we have one last character file to look at for the issue, this time for Dimitri! Dimitri is actually the tallest individual so far, at a height of 133 cm or 4'4". That's a full foot taller than Sonic! He weighs 39.9 kg or 87.7 lbs, and his birthday is on September 28. He's 378 years old, finally giving us a clearer idea of exactly how long the Brotherhood has existed, considering earlier issues were very unclear and inconsistent on the matter. Like Sally and Julie-Su, however, his character file doesn't give us any new information, merely recapping the previous events of the comic as well as history we've already been shown. Still, in a way, having such inconsequential information as his height, weight, and birthday really kind of serves to humanize him in a way - or, er, "Mobianize"? Eh, whatever, you know what I mean.
