Astrid is constantly haunted by memories of Emily.

Memories of running on the beach, with the sun framing Emily, making her appear surreal with the light forming a angelic ring around her. Memories of getting dragged out of bed at 2am to go stargaze, making her appear like a child who’s wonder knows no bounds. Memories of sitting in a safehouse with their backs pressed together while one of them naps and the other keeps watch.

Memories of messing with the drill sergeants together and laugh-crying through the harsh consequences of their shenanigans. Memories of disassembling and reassembling weapons together. Memories of secretly treating small scrapes in their barracks.

The memory of that fucking expression right as she pushed Astrid out of the line of fire. That expression before the bullets hit. The memory of the way the life drained from her eyes. The horrid stench of iron as Astrid tried so desperately to keep Emily alive while mumbling reassuring nothings.

The memory of watching the small things that made Emily’s bed Emily’s disappear. The memory of secretly nabbing one of the small pins and one of her sweatshirts to just try and keep a piece of her best friend with her. To just try and keep a small piece of the ride or die friend she knew so well. It doesn’t matter to her that every single time she sees that pin or wears that sweatshirt, she has to fight the urge to crumple to the ground and cry because she would fight god if it meant getting her friend back, but she cant do that, so keeping small pieces of Emily with her is the next best thing.

tbh the worst part is that we just dont know who is or isnt a black ops. admiral grandma didnt say "soldiers" were replaces, just that "targets" were. that could be anyone. pirates, queens, elders, random people on the street. anyone could be a fucking navy clone.

Finally got Feixiao after 150ish pulls and lost the 50/50 to welt. (i will now forever be salty when he gets mentioned lol still love the astral express dad tho). Did have stuff saved up so she was pretty much set up once she came to my account

Anyways after reading the lore about feixiao in the character codex. And everything that happened this patch. My horny part died down a bit and like I just wanna hug her, cuddle her, pamper her. Damn she deserves it. I love some comfort with my hurt.

ANYWAY, huge yes to pampering feixiao. she’s a sweetheart deep down, and above all else she wants to make a peaceful world. and she has her main goal for that, obviously, to eradicate the denizens of abundance, but there’s also the smaller victories. there’s peace in the laughter between squadmates at dinner; there’s peace in the chatter of citizens whose hearts rest easy at the assurance of safety; there’s peace in the way jiaoqiu cooks with a smile and there’s even peace in the way moze can simply sit in the open, far from the shadows. there’s all these little things that keep her going, but in the end, she’s still mortal.

a general is not a god. she is not infallible. in the darkness of the night, the wolves come to haunt her, howling the names of those she couldn’t save—neergul, yueyu, and countless, countless others. on those nights she’ll wake up shivering, the sweat on her skin cold like ice. breathing suddenly feels like a monumental task, and the cold, cold water rises and rises until she feels like she’s plunging under, her body numb and helpless against the tide.

but then, you’re there.

your hands cup her face as you draw her back to shore, your words like shooting stars lighting the dark and guiding her back to solid ground. her ears pick up the steady thump-thump of your heart, and she follows your gentle instruction, matching each inhalation-exhalation to your own. with you, she remembers how to breathe. your lips are her safe harbor as you kiss her softly, and the riptide of her thoughts ebbs finally into nothingness. here, she is just feixiao—not the general, not the merlin’s claw, just her. feixiao, who is loved by you, and who loves you in turn.

feixiao doesn’t know if she’ll ever see the true face of ‘peace’—but if she were asked to envision it, the sight that would come to mind would undoubtedly be you.

my dear riptide oc has been redesigned look at him in his full sharky glory

gravel lore below (some taken from my old ref)

He is an artificer/druid cryptozoologist! Technically he is Sharkfolk based on a winghead shark but mechanically he is more like a Triton with an extra bite attack (because I haven't found a homebrew sharkfolk that I like)

He goes around researching and documenting cryptids!! He writes it all in his diary (the leather book, it's magical as well), makes artists impressions of cryptids according to the information he's collected and would probably be part of a cryptozoologist enthusiast club.

He also occassionally publishes his findings to like a small subscription magazine!! cryptid facts, sightings, stories etc.

Aside from cryptids, he also has done research on the species within Mana (e.g. documentation and studies) but his main interest is still cryptids.

He is very independent!! He has no crew and is usually solo so he usually hitchhikes on other pirate ships to get around and helps them out in exchange.

His damaged dorsal fin is actually from a run in with a navy battleship while he was on a pirate ship that did not turn out very well. Since he is pretty close with a lot of pirates he is indirectly also an enemy of the Navy government (he hates the navy anyway so its fine). I would consider him a true neutral.

He makes most of his artificer stuff out of bone because of the druid metal thing: he just paints it to appear metallic because he likes how it looks :]

fun facts:

- if you could not tell from the earring on the right: yes he is also gay

- he has 360 vision (like most hammerheads) and very good spatial awareness!

- his artificer subclass is alchemist but I still haven't decided the druid subclass. I am likely leaning towards circle of the stars or moon due to his ties to the water.

i just realized the funniest thing kinda: i've been watching jrwi riptide from gill's POV. i had to skip the feywild arc because i'm currently playing that campaign, so i got to hear all the lore (ex: edyn talking to the navy) when gill learned. so anyways theres my silly realization today!!

this is Anaheim. she is the primary AI for fireteam riptide (the team the guy in my pfp is apart of) and just helps them with like mission overviews and general shit. she’s usually stuck on a ship somewhere on comms but sometimes she hitches a ride with one of her spartans. there are 5 of them — raum (pfp), zakariah, ingwe, noah, and håkon. zakariah and ingwe belong to my awesome friend @sunduvhar who I’m matching with :3 anyway she likes Håkon a lot because he’s the newest member (and the youngest, by like a mile) and is suuuper easy to embarrass infront of everyone else.

she is also kind of really insecure about the help she is able to provide. she wishes she had an actual physical body to herself so that she could be more direct and present, so she tries reeaaaalllly hard to be a big clown and laugh it up infront of everybody because she always a little bit scared that they think she’s not doing enough (she is and they’re all fine). do not get me wrong though she is a huge fucking dork and she loves everyone on riptide very dearly

she tries very very hard not to think about anything that’s not directly related outside of riptide. Obviously she has to keep up communications with the rest of the UNSC and tell everyone that riptide is, in fact, doing their job, but still. they are all kind of her one and only world

Anyway, rq, I know the deva for Dead Island wanted an Easter egg to players that watched the trailer before playing the game but this struck me today as odd and probably gives sadder lore to these two.

They were immune.

"Kalani how were they immune?" Going by lore of DI1 and Riptide, it's based on their blood type. Forgot which one atm which is my bad but.

The fact that BOTH bodies are there means these two just suffered a fate worse than death because they'd be alive while getting munched on. And they'd never reanimate. Which to me, should mean we see their bodies as just blood red bones.

Anyway I love Dead Island and I recommend you play it for yourself there's always a bit here and there to notice as lore, minor or otherwise.

Alright, back in front of the OTS, and we’ve still got some cutscene-looking stuff over in the center there. But first- what’s going on with those guys off on the other side?

Ooh, we’re getting some OTS lore! Four roommates, all female, all graduated to become Gym Leaders…I mean, two of them have to be Julia and Florinia, right? But as for the other two- I don’t think we know yet. Julia mentioned someone named “Tania” earlier, so maybe she’s also one of them…?

Now, these other Trainers- if they’re not gonna battle Xera, do they have some extra information to add?

Amy! There’s a new name! Is that the mysterious fourth roommate, assuming “Tania” is the third?

I mean, the school being able to double as an actual Gym probably helped as well.

Titania! That must be who Julia was talking about- “Tania” is a nickname, I understand!! But as for what happened involving her and Florinia (which Julia also alluded to, if I recall)- well, I doubt we’ll get that information in the near future.

But yeah, this was enlightening! So the four roommates-turned-Leaders these guys were talking about are Julia, Florinia, Titania, and Amy…fascinating! I wonder when we’ll meet those latter two- it’ll probably be sooner instead of later, right? We’ve already met half that group, the other half can’t be much further away.

Anyways, before actually going into the OTS to challenge Florinia, there’s one more thing I wanna do- or, rather, someplace I want to visit.

The Onyx Arcade! I’m not planning on doing anything extensive here, just wanna take a look around, see what’s being offered, that sorta thing.

Whenever any of the jrwi guys mention vtm i start dissecting what they say because i want to figure out what clans theyll be

My initial guesses were

Bizly: gangrel or brujah

Grizzly: toreador or tremere

Condi: nosferatu or tremere

And tbh i think these are pretty fair guesses based on what theyve played before and on how they themselves act, however!

Based on a tweet bizly put out moments before my writing of this i think he may be playing a lasombra (not included in the base 5e vtm book but in the midroll of riptide ep 94 charlie said he bought some extra source books for a ttrpg hes been wanted to try out, vtm has a LOT on the different clans and lore related stuff although not required to actually play the game yes im def reading into this too much)

Anyway, his tweet said “its real bro my vampire dressed up all cute n shit got the eye shadow on its no going back now” and the lasombra are very connected to well. The shadows. Its like their whole thing (not really just on a base lvl)

Lasombra have the discipline Obtenebration, and as a result of using said discipline may have physical changes happen to them, such as their eyes becoming pools of darkness.

Okay...I need help developing an idea (headcanon that will probably never take form:c). I’ve been listening to some songs. Just yk livin my life in the fantastical universe making headcanons with the lyrics and BAM. this pops up. It’s about...Asher..btw Warning: Idea ramble below  This comes from the person who created the “Ash plays riptide in the school hallways” headcanon btw!! Where are ya, come claim your prize:D

I know how everyone’s theorizing about darlin’ lore and how sad it is they tore away from the pack and met quinn and peeps make fanfiction about it and believe me. I’m in love with that stuff. I’m guilty of loving found family drama

But may I introduce to you the possibility of someone else in the pack maybe running away and then coming back..? mmmParticularly Ash..? 

OKAY I KNOW BUT HEAR ME OUT He’s Ash! The lovable, emotionally intelligent social butterfly! 

There has to be a time he somehow broke down big time and ran away from the comfort of his pack, right? Sometime before he found himself and decided he was going to stay by David’s side for the rest of his life because that’s what a pack relationship is I assume. A.k.a. Ash before his character development. I know he’s BEEN developing during the series, but you have to admit that from the beginning, Ash has shown that he knows how to handle more than just people. Like he’s been through some life changing decisions before the inversion and Babe and the entire story that’s being told right now. 

SO LIKE...HELP?? 

Picture this: Ash faces David screaming out words that somehow gets through to his best friend and makes the situation real. real real. Ash finally taken seriously ONLY when he’s about to leave. Heads to New York city?? Maybe?? 

I’m....this is based on Riptide. I’m sorry. But shoutout to that person who created the headcanon that started this entire wormhole of my thoughts it’s like they’re sharing some of their genius with me

HE’S SEARCHING. and Ash is one of the lucky ones to finally realize early enough that what he’s searching for is home or some very heartfelt stuff like that.  I dunno I dunno maybe it could be someone else too. Like maybe even Milo?? With all the stuff his family’s gone through? Who’s to say that isn’t a possibility? but the IDEA of someone so loyal and, dare I say, self-sacrificing like Ash losing it before he solidifies his choices deep within his soul is so JUICY to me, mk?
