Tumblr media
Maribel wanted to reject Litzy, she really wanted to. She never asked to have another sibling. As if it wasn't enough to suddenly have to share the room with another girl her age. But Litzy was just so cute! She couldn't help but like that little bundle...
Tumblr media
Josue was so annoyed that he was - together with Mr. King, but you couldn't really count him - the only boy in the house. But the house itself was pretty cool, with the pool and everything!
Tumblr media
Raneka couldn't wait to get out of the house. So to spend less time out of it, she got herself an after-school-job.
Tumblr media
David loved his little Litzy. He could have like three more of her running around the house. But Gabriela said no more kids. Even Litzy had been unplanned. But David was so grateful to have her. It was like having little Raneka all over again...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Around Midday Mr. Splitter and Mrs. DeShong came to visit. David didn't know why they came over, but he was always happy to have a full house. He only felt a little attacked when Maribel and Josue started talking about the newest additions of the family and lets say, they didn't choose the nicest words for his part of the patch work family.
Tumblr media
Genesis: Mari, I know you're not feeling so great about this situation, but please, give David and Raneka a chance. They're not that bad. Maribel: I know Tia. It's just... Papa had only been dead for such a short time when Mama came home with this guy... And the pregnancy and moving and Raneka - urg - she's just driving me nuts! Genesis: What's wrong with her? Maribel: She... she knows a secret about me... and I'm afraid she'll tell Mama. Genesis: What can be so bad, Amor? Why don't you tell it your Mama yourself? Maribel: That's not so easy Tia! I - I'm really afraid... Can - can I tell you? You won't tell anybody, will you? Genesis: Of course I won't! Maribel: Tia - I - I'm in love with a girl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Genesis had almost started laughing at her nieces confession. She knew that Maribel's father had been really traditional and would have rejected a relationship like that, but Gabriela was a doctor, she knew that nobody could choose who to love and she wouldn't react badly on hearing about Maribel's first crush (what more could it be at that age?). Genesis herself tried to get some adventure in her life too, but Dr. Splitter didn't seem interested... Too bad, being with a Mad Scientist would no doubt be exciting.

Bajan Newscap 4/24/2017
Good Morning #realdreamchasers! Here is your daily news cap for Monday 24th 2017. Remember you can read full articles via Barbados Today (BT), or by purchasing a Daily Nation Newspaper (DN).
Tumblr media
DON’T BE DISTRACTED BY THE ‘HUFF AND PUFF’, WARNS PM – “Ignore the high winds, ignore the fires and listen to the still small voice”. This was the firm advice given by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart to party faithful, as he addressed the 62nd anniversary church service of the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP) at the Bethesda Tabernacle, Vauxhall, Christ Church this morning. Vaguely mentioning the upcoming general election, Stuart, who is yet to reveal a date for the much-anticipated poll that is constitutionally due within the next year, assured the congregation that the DLP’s position was not under threat amid what he called the “huff and puff” of opposition forces. During his address, Stuart zeroed in on the DLP’s record of educational achievements, dating back to its founding father Errol Walton Barrow. However, he said, since the party’s return to office in 2008, it has had to “do what the others have not gotten around to do”, in a seeming reference to its decision to end free tertiary education at the University of the West Indies, which has proven too costly for Government to maintain. The Prime Minister also announced that, in keeping with Section 89A of the Constitution of Barbados, a new teaching service commission will be established here in a few weeks time. Although he did not give a precise date, Stuart said the 3, 600 teachers employed by the Ministry of Education will answer to the commission on the issues such as appointments and promotions which “have bedevilled the teaching profession over the past 40 years”. Stuart said “[the commission] will put members of the teaching profession in a position to get the highly specialized treatment and attention that they both need and deserve”. (BT)
ON BOARD - Prime Minister Freundel Stuart said yesterday that a 1974 constitutional provision for a Teaching Service Commission will finally come into effect within weeks. The announcement was immediately welcomed by one of the two teachers’ unions which have been bogged down in rancorous disputes with the Government in recent years. “In a matter of weeks, we are going to have Section 89A of the Constitution of Barbados proclaimed to make provision for a separate Teachers Service Commission in Barbados,” Stuart said to loud applause at a church service held at Bethesda Tabernacle in Vauxhall, Christ Church, to mark 62 years since the establishment of the Democratic Labour Party. The change will separate teachers from other public officers who will remain subject to the oversight of the Public Service Commission for discipline and appointments. (DN)
MIA’S CALL – Barbados Labour Party (BLP) Leader Mia Mottley has issued a clarion call to her party faithful to remain focused. She said the road in the future might be filled with challenges but if the BLP remained the family that it was, it would be successful. “We wait simply on the cry from he who alone can make it. Whenever it comes, rest assured we are ready for the task,” she said. Mottley was speaking at the party’s 79th anniversary Founders’ Day Service held in the Queen’s Park Steel Shed yesterday. (DN)
WATER RATES RISE FORECAST – Minister of Industry and Commerce Donville Inniss says he has not seen any evidence that Barbadians will soon pay more for water, but economist Jeremy Stephen is insisting a hike in rates is unavoidable. Stephen suggested that the situation would be compounded by yet another downgrade for the island, worsening Government’s economic standing. The two, along with president of the Barbados Association of Professional Engineers Grenville Phillips II, were guests yesterday on Starcom Network’s Brass Tacks Sunday. “We just got downgraded, we will get downgraded again in June. The cost of governance, before you get any efficiency measures in place, will increase possibly around 30 per cent, especially as global interest rates come up,” Stephen said. (DN)
WARNING ABOUT VACCINE PROVIDERS – Senior Medical Officer Dr Karen Broome has warned the public to get vaccinated only through the Ministry of Health and programmes administered by internationally accepted organisations. She said it was possible to cut down on the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases in Barbados, but the shots should only be delivered by representatives of organisations such as the United Nations Children’s Fund, the World Health Organisation, Pan-American Health Organisation (PAHO) and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. “Millions of dollars are invested every year in vaccine research and development to ensure that only safe, reliable and effective vaccines are delivered to children and adults worldwide. And parents, you are urged to ensure that you are guided only by reputable vaccine authorities . . . , ” she said during a service at the People’s Cathedral yesterday to mark Vaccination Week in the Americas (VWA). (DN)
SCOLDED FOR DRAGGING FEET ON CCJ - Caribbean States that have not replaced the Privy Council with the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) as the final appellate court have been rapped for dragging their feet. A disappointed Trinidad and Tobago President Anthony Carmona said this was one of the issues at the heart of Caribbean pride. The former judge questioned the delay by most CARICOM nations in moving away from the British Privy Council, saying that while arguments for a common jurisprudence had been exhausted, they were not exhaustible. “Perhaps the day will finally come when we can all take pride in, and responsibility for, defining, shaping, writing and ultimately, rewriting our own jurisprudence and laws in the context of our own peculiarities and the relationships among our own member states,” he said during a lecture at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, last week. (DN)
PLEA FOR HERITAGE FUNDING – The island’s Minister of Culture has pleaded with philanthropic citizens to fund the restoration of its historic capital city, while also urging Barbadians to “break the cycle of poor maintenance” of historic buildings. Stephen Lashley wants more entities like the Tabor Foundation (Barbados) to come forward and pump money into other ventures similar to the Synagogue Redevelopment Project. He was giving the feature address during the official opening and handing over ceremony of the Synagogue Redevelopment Project at the Jewish Synagogue in The City yesterday. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Housing Denis Kellman, Opposition Leader Mia Mottley, MP for The City Jeffrey Bostic and former long-standing City MP Dame Billie Miller. (DN)
BAG SNAG - The 20-cent levy on plastic bags may not be rolled out next week after all. But shoppers should not pack away their reusable bags because the levy is still coming, the head of the Future Centre Trust, Tracey Edwards, said. It was last November when officials from the environmental trust and BICO announced the initiative aimed at reducing the amount of plastic bags which enter the landfill and waste streams. The initiative, which comprised a number of retailers, including major supermarket chains, was slated to come into effect from May 1. (DN)
SISTER’S DEATH STILL A MYSTERY TO FAMILY – A couple has travelled from Britain to try to get local police to reopen the investigation into the death of a visitor here last year under mysterious circumstances. Celine Kosi, 29, died on April 13, 2016, after she was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with a head injury. Her Canadian husband, who was on vacation with her, told police she had fallen and hit her head on a concrete floor during “rough sex”, but her sister Vera Kosi and her husband Paul Carline are not satisfied with that account. They are equally upset that the Canadian citizen was allowed to leave Barbados three days after the incident and are appealing to the police to bring him back for further questioning. (DN)
CARIFTA YES IF STADIUM READY – Government will give the green light for the staging of the 50th anniversary of the CARIFTA Games in Barbados in 2021. But Minister of Sport Stephen Lashley has cautioned it depends on the completion of a new National Stadium in that four-year time frame. “It is realistic once we can get the stands [at the National Stadium] done. I think this is happening at a very good time,” Lashley told NATIONSPORT when asked about the prospect of the region’s most prestigious junior athletics meet returning to Barbados for the first time since 2001. “The discussion has occurred and it is happening in Barbados where Barbadians recognise that we need to have a fully developed National Stadium and I am in total agreement with that,” he added. (DN)
SILVER LINING – Barbados dramatically snatched snatched a silver medal in the men’s 4x100 metres relay at the IAAF World Relays in The Bahamas on Saturday night. In a race in which three teams failed to finish, including pre-race favourites Canada, the Barbados quartet of Mario Burke, Ramon Gittens, Nicholas Deshong and Burkheart Ellis Jr held their nerve to finish second behind runaway winners United States. With the big guns blundering on the baton exchanges, Barbados executed their race and anchor Ellis just caught Jinsheng Liang of China to claim second place, US$30 000 and automatic qualification to the World Championships in August. (DN)
MIKEY LEADS STRONG MAN – CALYPSONIAN Michael “Mikey” Mercer made lifting 625 pounds look easy on the first day of the Strong Fest Competition. On Saturday he recorded wins in two of three events at the Valley Fitness Zone in Dash Valley, and lost the bench press event to well-known bodybuilder Stevenson Belle of Surf Side Wellness Gym. A trifecta of confidence, strength and technique came together to propel Mercer to the top of the pack early in the competition with 48 points. The Bassa Bassa Gym competitor first dominated the squats with clean lifts of 425 pounds, 500 pounds and 515 pounds, respectively. (DN)

Jhonattan has inherited quite the fortune of his late mother Agnes. He is overall a neat person, but why should he clean by himself, when there are professionals that can be paid for such a job? So he hired Emerald Heights' cleaning service, and one of the maids instantly comes over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With that outta the way, Jhonattan has time to enjoy himself.
Tumblr media
April DeShong and David King, two neighbors, pay him a visit. They want to talk about shady people that are currently walking from house to house, offering their matchmaking service.
Tumblr media
Jhonattan: I don't need a matchmaking service. I can pretty well find myself a woman. April: Exactly. We didn't want their service either, as we all are in a steady relationship. But these people keep walking from door to door!
Tumblr media
David doesn't take Jhonattan's bragging. He knows Jhonattan has thrown an eye on his sister-in-law, but he also knows very well, that Genesis isn't the Sim to settle down with some rich bore.
Tumblr media
So the guests take advantage of the manor's generous facilities.
Tumblr media
Jhonattan really thinks he's the greatest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a healthy snack, Genesis really calls Jhonattan up and asks him to go out. Jhonattan: Well, actually, I currently have guests. Genesis: Throw them out. I could convince my sister to leave the house tonight. Let's go bowling!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jhonattan isn't a man who says no to the lady of his dreams, and about an hour later they arrive at the Bigg City, at one of the new bowling alleys.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jhonattan is a natural.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
During and after Dinner, Jhonattan is quick to mark his territory. He doesn't like, how that other dude - Tim Rowland - looks at her.
Tumblr media
And Tim quickly makes clear, that he's also very much interested in Genesis. And they are also co-workers out of all things!
Tumblr media
But at the end of the evening, it's two to one for Jhonattan!
Tumblr media
Back at home, he's taking some time to soak in the hot tube, before heading to bed.

DeShong
The DeShongs are the kind of family that you just can't miss. Mum April's love of garish clothes, Dad Nate's love of death metal, and Merle, who never plays the same character twice make for a distinctive crew. But Corina is embarrassed by them, and wishes she had a "normal" family. She can't wait to move out, just to get some peace. But perhaps one day she'll realize the value of having a family who accept, nay, celebrate, whoever you are without questioning.
Tumblr media
Nate was a bit of a player in his youth, but these days he is strictly faithful to his wife, his kids, and not forgetting his beloved rock music.
Nate DeShong: male, adult, Sim Popularity/Fortune (Become Mayor) Leo (3/8/4/6/4) Slacker career, OTH Nature Traits: Social Butterfly, Slob, Green Thumb, Equestrian, Frugal
Tumblr media
Strikingly beautiful with an attitude to match, April tries her hardest to break the mould of ANY stereotype people try to push her into. She couldn't be prouder of her two children, Corina (that's cuh-REEN-a) and Merle (rhymes with whirl, which, well, he is).
April DeShong: female, adult, Sim Family/Romance (Marry off 6 children) Taurus (3/7/3/8/4) Slacker career, OTH Nature Traits: Insane, Self Assured, Loves the Heat, Family Oriented, Irresistible
Tumblr media
Parents are sooooooo embarrassing! Corina wishes her mum and dad would just act like everybody else's parents. Sometimes she feels like the only grown-up around here.
Corina DeShong: female, Teen, Sim Family (Marry off 6 Children) Virgo (8/4/6/4/3) High School, OTH Science Traits: Proper, Grumpy, Eccentric, Nurturing
Tumblr media
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It's Captain Merle, on a quest to destroy the next.....TAG! You're it! Catch him if you can!
Merle DeShong: male, child, Sim Grow up Leo (3/8/5/5/4) Elementary School, OTH Music and Dance Traits: Outgoing, Slob, Virtuoso
Challenges rolled for: - round: Tax Refund: Turns out you paid too much tax, and you're getting a refund. Add d10 * 100 to the family funds. - season: Regular Season: Nothing Major Happens - week: Regular Week: Nothing Major Happens

Tumblr media
April returns home after school to an empty house. Her grades are on top of the world and she takes a second to celebrate herself.
Tumblr media
She brought Nikita Fusilli home from school, a "friend". Corina can't believe she really gave in to let Nikita come with her. All she wants is to copy her homework... Corina leaves Nikita on her own, not aware what she does to her father's succulents.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nate doesn't mind though, he gained that big promotion and is now a DJ! He's instantly off to celebrate with his wife. And Nikita quickly redeems herself by playing with Merle.
Tumblr media
Over their "celebration" April and Nate almost miss the most important time of the week: it's Merle's birthday.
Tumblr media
Merle is glad to celebrate with only his family and Corina's strange but quite nice friend.
Tumblr media
He grows up to be a Popularity Sim. He likes active girls that also like to tend their appearance. But please not bland blondes! He's also now towns greatest bro!
Tumblr media
To celebrate their youngest teenage birthday, the family buys a pick-up. Nate is exceptionally happy about it!

Tumblr media
Corina just wishes she'd have some privacy in this house. Wherever she goes, her embarrassing parents are everywhere. Is it normal, that people, whose been married for season are still that lovey-dovey?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Merle on the other hand loves the attention he gets from his parents.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The DeShongs have some guests over, when April finds some bugs in her rug. She instantly calls up the exterminator, but the nice neighbor Esmeralda knows a cheep home remedy. Does no one ever clean in this house?

Cord knew that his wife was going through a difficult phase. She didn't want to move Holly over to the Group House. When would she finally understand that this was the only possibility for a girl like her? She wasn't like the watcher wanted her to be. She was full of sin and would drag their youngest Brinam into her sinful behaviors too, if she continued to live with them. When would she finally understand?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cherry knew that Cord was right, he was always right. But Holly was her baby... her beautiful little baby girl...
Tumblr media
Ash hated how he was dragged into all of this. His dad said that Holly wasn't normal and that she couldn't live with them because of it. But he was so confused. So confused that he needed to write everything down. When Dad found out he would be mad, so he hid the notebook under Holly's bed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cherry hated how Cord always invited all those people over. Everyone but Holly...
Tumblr media
And that night the family got another setback: The results of Ash's college applications came in - and weren't satisfying. He was declined from all three universities.
Tumblr media
Esmee: Listen boy, going to college is totally overrated. Back in MY youth, nobody went to college, believe me...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the guests finally left, Cherry felt like she couldn't breath anymore. She just - she just needed something to calm her nerves. She knew Cord hated it but he was upstairs fixing a broken sink. He wouldn't see her wouldn't notice. Just one quick sip and she'd be okay again, right?
Tumblr media
Three glasses later Cord's cutting voice threw Cherry off.
Tumblr media
Cord: Cherry! You told me you wouldn't drink anymore! Di- did you empty half of the bottle while I was upstairs? Cherry, that was half an hour? Have you even though about the boys? Do you want that kind of mother for them? Set such a horrible example for them.
No, Cherry didn't want to be a horrible example. But she just couldn't help it...

Tumblr media
As it was their moving day, Steve was allowed to stay at home from school so he could spend the whole morning playing his favorite video game. Dr. Splitter's engine was really great, not to compare to the run-down they owned when they still lived with Dad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mata: Oh, I see you're pursuing your creative streak, Dr. Splitter. It's so important to train all the fields a Sim could gain skills in. Adam: Oh, you-you think so, Mrs. Dore? I don-don't know, I-I'm still a beginner in the creative field. Um.. wou-would you... I mean... don't you mind talking to me as... as lightly dressed as... Mata: *laughs* Ah, Dr. Splitter, I don't mind at all. And a man of your standing shouldn't mind too. I'm positive, I've seen enough women like me. Adam didn't know what to say. He never had seen a woman like Mata. A distant memory of taking baths with his mother came to his mind, she was the only woman he'd ever seen in less than a lab coat. They chit-chatted for some more and suddenly Mata pulled him into a tender hug. Mata: Thank you again for letting us stay with you, Adam. He had never heard his name be spoken like this.
Tumblr media
Mata sprung away from Dr. Splitter when she heard the door open. Steve: Mom! Can you believe it?! I made a new high score! Without all the lag I'm really great at SSX3!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Around lunch time, some neighbors came over to meet the new inhabitants of Emerald Heighs. Claire Voyante was the leader of a girls group home, April DeShong a local housewife and Rocky Stone the co-founder of a local interest group. They had a nice day and Steve could show off his SSX3 skills.
Tumblr media
Steven knew that his mother wanted him to go to college as soon as he was old enough but Steven didn't know if he really wanted to go. Being new in town was hard enough, wouldn't it be even harder to leave right away again and start over AGAIN?
