After SB Vanessa almost immediately goes back to having rainbow highlights in her hair, they're one of the things that set her apart when she was younger and she really needs to feel that again
(Gregory asks if she can do similar for him. The next day he's happily showing Freddy the streaks of blue that match Freddy's paint)
they dont even just do it professionally. they do it with a wikihow tutorial pulled up on Vanessa's phone and arctic fox hair dye and dollar store bleach in the bathroom like vanessa did when she was like 15. it just brings back good memories and she really enjoyed it and loved having the color back in her hair and was happy to see Gregory and Freddy happy :)

mk so ya’ll, I’ve been thinkin bout a new undertale au(I already have one but this is sorta a prequel to it/a possible prequel to undertale- both my main ut au and ut are pretty similar so it could be interpreted as a prequel to both/either one)(also yeah I have that lackadaisy au that im still figurin out but shh, I’ve already started to make some of the lackadaisy cards for some of the ocs so its not gonna disappear from my mind or anythin like that, this au is just a new ide- ….im rambling on lmao)
:ahem: so, basically, it follows the journey of the integrity soul- who ironically i made be an au version of mia “mimi” magne-esemais(i changed her and miele’s last name to have “magne” in it, it sounded cool when i heard of that last name the first time so i decided to use it)- aka a 12 y/o girl named mia, who has interests in stuff like ballet, for example. somehow she managed to accidentally trip on a vine and fall down into the underground, causing her to have to find a way back home. she meets flowey while trying to figure out the first puzzle in the ruins, and befriends him- (and after a few puzzles and a tutorial or sum)eventually reaching the ruined city(yknow, the big city in front of the balcony where you find the toy knife? the name is a placeholder since I haven’t really thought bout it much yet but it sounds pretty good to me tbh) to find a way out of the ruins, considering the only other way would be through toriel’s house. i forget if anybody actually lives in that city or not, or even if there’d even be a way to snowdin from there, but this au probs takes place in the 80s or 90s, considering UT and my UT AU take place sometime in the 2010s- hence meaning that things could’ve changed after mia died. but anyways.. she’d probably be able to gain the ability to save either once you get there, or after meeting flowey. either one works.
after reaching the ruined city, there’d be a some shops, npcs, and all of that jazz- but the whole “acting buying items” thing wouldn’t really be accessible until after they leave the ruins, considering mia would have no money(or not much money, depending on if monsters will attack her before she reaches the city or not, since that depends on when she gets to save). besides, she has more important things to do! …..like getting chased by some royal guards(despite having a.. “disguise”.. which is just the hood of mia’s hoodie), befriending a few monsters maybe, and meeting toriel right as she and flowey are about to leave the ruins. said goat mom takes her(for some reason, flowey hides himself from her.. hm) back to her home before she manages to get herself into any more trouble, and mia doesn’t exactly mind staying with toriel for a second.. but after a day or so flowey convinces her to sneak off to get back on track- so they both leave the ruins in the dead of the night by usin the downstairs exit to snowdin. (though there could possibly be a boss fight in ruins? maybe one of the guards or sum, dunno yet. if anybody has ideas, im open to em.)
i haven’t really figured anythin out past that point yet, but i had an idea for the (old- like.. before undyne. well probs before the person that was before undyne but you get the point) captain of the royal guard, who eventually mia tries to plead with to go home- but obviously that doesn’t happen, considering that mia starts to get chased round by the captain(I don’t have a name for her yet, but what I do know is that she could possibly be related to two of my ut ocs who are also in my ut au. like.. maybe a great-aunt or sum, and since those two ocs are arctic-fox-based monsters, that’s what the captain would be) all the way to waterfall, and eventually they get into a boss fight. the captain manages to die, however. not through mia, but moreso through an accident that happened during the fight. if you’re curious on how the captain would be like, kinda think of adam from hazbin hotel, but like… more smarter, not sexist or stuff like that, and nicer(or at least way more polite). the reason why the captain knew of mia’s existence was the events that happened in the ruins, and her sighting in snowdin.
anyways- eventually mia could possibly meet gaster(or at least whoever the royal scientist before alphys was), maybe??? dunno, but ik eventually she would die during the fight with asgore ofc. she also has a bit of a design change while in waterfall and hotland; in waterfall she takes off her tutu and ballet shoes to run better(she has an extra pair of shoes tho dw), and in hotland she wraps her hoodie around her waist(her shirt is really just one of those ballet leotard thingys lol- she also wears ballet tights, but they’re sorta more like leggings/more durable n stuff), considering it’d be pretty hot with it on(but she probably puts it back on after reaching the core or new home- and speaking of new home, she probably gets to explore the city, too). whenever she has her hoodie on, she puts her hair down, too- but its not too relevant so
do ya’ll like this au so far, tho? i think it might be pretty interesting, and could possibly get its own fan-game one day, if i can manage to get people to help me(but first, I’ll probably write bout this and/or draw a comic, which both are things I’d do for my other ut au).
btw, if ya’ll have suggestions for any sort of ideas(like name ideas for the captain, or things that could happen, for example), I’d be glad to hear em 👍
(also, adding onto that- im unsure of what the au should be called. for now it’s “UnderTale Blue”, but I’m also thinking of “UnderSoul Blue” for my UT AU, “UnderBlue”, “BlueTale”, and “BlueSoul”. but maybe it(and possibly the game itself) could also be sum ballet-related?? dunno- but if you guys could help me with that, I’d appreciate it :D)
(EDIT; the fallen-children order thingy(well, the order of the 6 children) is currently this(note; each of the 6 human souls died in at least a week or two(maybe longer if they were lucky) after they fell, most likely);
Perseverance fell first, in the early-to-mid 1920s.
Bravery fell a few years later(still in the 1920s, just late 20s).
Then, Patience falls in the 1940s or 50s.
Kindness falls in the 60s(maybe 70s?).
Mia/Integrity falls sometime in the 80s or 90s. I was thinking possibly 98, so that she’d be born in 86(i could also make the year of Mia’s fall 95 or 99… to reference obvious things lmao)… just because i like the number lol.
Justice falls last, about a year later(as a reference to UnderTale Yellow, since Integrity fell right before Justice).
i think that this is a pretty good order, but what do ya’ll think?)

The WILDS Review
I heard about this game from alterhuman tumblr, and it's currently 50% off, so I thought why not try it out and make a review!

I started out as a wolf, because it's a classic. The game dropped me into a forest and basically set me loose, there isn't really a starting tutorial, just some basic gameplay tips. I felt like I lacked immediate direction and didn't know how to complete any self-imposed goals.
After running around for a bit, I found some animals to hunt. The animal behavior can be questionable, especially for a game that boasts being “The Most Realistic Animal Role-Playing Experience”. There isn't really a stalking/ambush mechanic, you basically just run at them and hope they can't outrun you, which most small game and deer can, so I either hunted rats, ate carcasses or got lucky and had my prey run into a wall and get stuck.
I also think it's weird that boar, deer, and moose run from a single wolf, when in real life they would most likely try to defend against them, especially when I ran into one with babies.
I do like the kill mechanic, when you catch a prey animal you get a small mini-game where you have to click at the right time to kill it. It was an interesting idea I haven't seen before.
To go back to the game's ambition of being realistic, I found it has some incorrect information. In the atlas, which I think is a really cool way to store info, it mentions packs/ranks however I feel that it paints with a broad brush that all animals fit into the alpha, beta, omega style of packs and that they maintain ranks with aggression and fighting. This has been disproven in wolves for decades(David Mech), and straight up doesn't align with other animals such as bears and foxes, who are mainly solitary animals. I also found 'marbled' foxes in the snowy part of the map instead of arctic foxes, which I found weird because marbled is a color pattern that exists only in captive(fur farmed) red foxes.
The customization for your animal is really nice, there are several subspecies variants that change your coat color, you can also choose your rank in the pack which I thought was a cool idea. You also have multiple traits that affect how fast you gain certain skills, which I really liked. The skill tree they're implementing in the future looks really interesting.
I found the game had quite an unpolished feel, even for an early access game. The only bug I ran into that impeded me was I couldn't get the 'bond' interaction to pop up when trying to find a mate. Other bugs included floating ducks, my camera clipping through the map, and my impeccable ability to climb straight up mountains.
The difficulty does feel unbalanced, I managed to win fights against a cougar and a brown bear as a solo wolf, but I didn't have enough stamina to catch deer. I also played as a deer and I felt too safe, I was hoping for an experience of having to stay alert to my surroundings and watch for predators, but I ran right up to a bear and ran away before it even got close to me. I very briefly tried out the raven too, and I have to say the flight feels great and is very fun.
Overall, I think this game is fun to mess around with for a few hours, especially with how cheap it is right now, and I feel it has a promising future if more development happens and the dev can take some feedback into consideration. As it stands currently, it lacks some substance and feels just a bit lackluster.

@plusultrayokai you sent me an ask and I saved it to my drafts while I was working on gathering some links for reference and tumblr apparently ate it?? i cannot find it anymore.
also for some reason it isn't letting me tag you. so I hope you see this.
You asked about making a fursona that is a hybrid between a red fox and an arctic fox and you wanted advice on the skeletal structure and anthro anatomy.
so here are my own tutorials on making non-primate humanoid bodies and bipedal digitigrade legs. You can vary your non-primate humanoid designs by leaning more into the humanoid or the animalistic side of things. Fursonas are usually more animalistic in appearance, while the humanoids I drew in that tutorial lean more into a human-like form. So you can adjust it as needed for your character.
I do not currently have a specific visual for humanoid + fox skeletal anatomy, but the non-primate humanoids posts should help.
As for making a red fox/arctic fox hybrid, I looked it up to see how common this was, in case maybe there would be useful reference images already available online. It doesn't really happen in the wild, but fur farms have so many hybrid foxes. I found this resource on a variety of fox hybrids with images (for some reason, "silver fox" is apparently another way to refer to red foxes. makes no sense to me, but when the hybrid breeds list mentions a silver fox, it is actually talking about red foxes.)
And this resource doesn't have much in the way of images, but it does discuss some of the more technical side of things like what sorts of traits a hybrid red/arctic fox might get from each parent.
hope that helps! sorry tumblr ate the ask before i was done working on it. if i forgot any details, lemme know.

So my workplace is finally allowing fun hair colors. Because of my allergies I know a lot of hair dyes won’t work for me. People are suggesting Arctic Fox and I like what I see. I’ll need to bleach and have never done that so does anyone have good recommendations for tutorials and/or other dyes friendly for those with chemical sensitivities?

I remember that you have had some awesome hair colors and that you’ve bleached your hair yourself. Any advice to someone who has dyed their hair fun colors, but only ever gotten it professionally bleached preparing to bleach it at home?
So anon,
Honestly, I watched A TON of videos of bleach fails and how-tos for a few months before I did it. You can laugh, but Brad Mondo’s channel was very educational for what not to do and why.
I had some complications bc I had a LOT of permanent color build-up to take out first, so several rounds of color remover, then a couple rounds of bleach, and it’s almost a year later and I have to baby my hair a LOT. If you have to use a color remover I found the Schwarzkopf Color remover much better than Color Delete. I haven’t tried the Vitamin C method or Color Oops.
Here’s the Brad Mondo tutorial for bleaching, but honestly I kind of feel like I learned more from his bleach fails, seeing where people messed up.
link
This is another great one with lots of discussion of how to do the back of your head, how not to miss spots, and root maintenance.
link
I’d recommend against a box bleach set. You don’t have control over the developer strength, and they often are overpriced for what you get. People often get stuck/run out in the middle of a job with box sets. If you aren’t sure if you’re going to keep doing it at home you can buy single use bleach packets for around $4-5. If you’re planning on keeping up with it, I’d just buy a bucket of the bleach, bc it’s much more cost effective over time. You’ll also need a nonreactive mixing bowl, a brush, developer, gloves, and a plastic hair cap.
I prefer cream developer to the less viscous clear. 30 developer is a pretty good all around for bleaching. My understanding is that 40 will basically do it faster but not actually lift much more, and it does more damage. 20 developer is good for root touch ups.
I don’t know if you’re starting from virgin hair, since you mention having had your hair bleached before, but if it is currently uncolored and unbleached, section your hair, start from the back and bottom layers, and move up then forward (back and underlayers tend to be darker and to be more stubborn about lightening so you want to give the bleach more time there.
Be extremely generous with the bleach mixture. Use very thin swaths of hair and coat liberally. You want all the hair to be coated in toothpaste-like consistency. Start from the lower layer and move up (I know I’m repeating, but I mean it :))
When applying bleach to virgin/uncolored hair, leave the last inch to inch a half closest to the scalp clear until everything else is done; then do it. The heat from your scalp will make it process faster, and you want to avoid hot roots (super bleached roots with less bleached mids and ends)
Don’t brush, “lather” or otherwise agitate your hair while bleaching or rinsing the hair. You’re essentially breaking your hair’s integrity and you don’t want to aggravate it more than necessary. Also. bleach doesn’t lather unless you’re doing a bleach bath solution, so there’s no point.
If you are trying to lighten your hair several levels (a dramatic lighten), especially if you have black or near black hair and are trying to go blond, you might want to consider foils, but if so, again, thin slices of hair, lots of bleach, and you’ll want to check your progress. I do my own and don’t have a two mirror setup so I don’t do that.
when you have the bleach all on, spritz water lightly on your hair and put a plastic haircap on. Once bleach dries, it no longer works, so the extra moisture in the cap helps keep the chemical reaction going longer.
Check the color as it processes. It will look a bit lighter than it is. The processing won’t go any longer than 50 minutes.
Rinse, using lukewarm to warm water (not cold or hot) and be nice to your scalp. No scrubbing/scratching. It’s been through a lot. No matter how well you rinse it, it’s probably going to feel a bit gritty until a couple washes later.
Hair mask/deep conditioner afterward, and again, be nice to your hair--it’s just been through a lot. Also, considering what I’ve done to my hair, hair oils are a daily way of life now.
If you are doing semipermanent fashion colors you can make your own Overtone-like product to maintain your hair. Apply to dry clean hair.
Tutorial link
I mix a good amount of my color haircolor with these in the Mielle tubs and deep condition my hair with color (I’ve been using Arctic Fox**-) after every shower (about once a week)
**if you try Arctic Fox, they’re cheaper/same price and have better selection either on ebay or direct than from Sally’s or Hot Topic, and at $50, their site has free shipping and benefits/discounts if you are a repeat buyer
Here you go, anon! I hope that’s helpful, and if I missed anything, please ask, or if anyone wants to chime in with advice, please do!
Good luck!
