Brain successfully derailed thanks to figuring out an acronym for my crossover au of magic kaito in persona 5 as just mkp5 (Gonna start using that as tag too. I should edit the fics I've written to have that tag). And for the ideas... I have Akechi. And Hakuba. Basically got ideas bout when Akechi becomes suspicious of Kaito. Like, Akechi surely have seen how close Kaito is with the gang that he's been suspicious of being the Phantom Thieves until he got conclusive evidence of it. But then when he got to join them as Crow, doesn't really see Kaito around so everyone is like: "Oh he isn't a Phantom Thief, he's just our friend."

But! Akechi's detective instinct ringing and is now looking into Kaito as well, considering how in mkp5, there's not one but TWO thief problems (with the other openly being a menace in the real world). Akechi now thinks Kaito is more than meets the eye cuz he has a feeling that anyone close to the Phantom Thieves has been helping them one way or another so there Has to be Something about Kaito other than being their friend. But then there's Hakuba. Supposed work partner of Akechi who is assigned to help but instead is doing everything to keep Akechi from figuring out Kaito's other identity.

Sakuras jealousy is a recurring issue. Once you’re his and he’s accepted that fact, he hates when anyone else gets more attention from you than he does. It makes him question everything, feels like he’s having a mid life crisis.

He sometimes get jealous of the way you interact with the other Bofurin boys as well. Is afraid you might think one of them is nicer than him, or that they could protect you better than he could. you constantly have to reassure him, which makes him feel even worse.

If he sees someone actively flirting with you right in front of him, he goes into fight or flight mode

Acts like you’re about to be murdered and his only way to save you is obnoxiously interjecting himself in the convo. “hahaha right MY PARTNER is soooo cool! you guys friends? Never heard of you before hahaha strange.” “Hey BABE, you seem to be having a lot of fun over here…WITHOUT ME.” The guy would just awkwardly walk away lol

Once he’s gone Sakura goes back to normal and tries to act like what he just did wasn’t borderline insane. “What do you mean? I was just talking to you how I always do.” Yeah suuuuure.

Just make sure he knows you love him and no one else. Appreciates when you include him in convos with strangers while you two are out, hates being left out of the loop.

Ren definitely feels like you are the light of his life, his sunshine on a cloudy day, the only pure thing about him, keeping him sane and at bay. Deep down he’s terrified that you’ll find someone more gentle than he is, someone less angry and tense all the time. So when something threatens to take you away, he gets rather aggressive

He prefers if you don’t see him that way. So anytime someone seems to be a little too flirty, or trying to get a little too close to you, he stalks his pray and waits it out. Once the interaction is over (you obviously rejected them), he’ll wait until you leave, head off to the bathroom, or just aren’t paying attention to shoot them the most devious glance imaginable.

Eyes of a killer as he bites down hard, cracking the candy in his mouth. sending them a signal of what might happen to them if they don’t back off. If you aren’t around, “you shouldn’t go for someone so far out of your league” “back off”.

Suo doesn’t tend to get jealous. He’s got you whipped (just as much as you have him) and he knows it. A confident king.

On the rare occasion he does feel threatened by another man, it’s usually by someone of his same stature, coy and nonchalant. It almost makes his blood boil to see someone teasing you the way he does just to see that cute flustered face.

Thinks its disrespectful for other men to bother you when they should already see how fruitless it is. In his head, someone like you is surely taken. (Though he still finds it hard to believe that he was the one who was able to take you)

He’s likes to let it go on for a little, wanting to see what tactics the guy might employ. He also wants to see the look on this persons face when they are inevitably rejected by you.

If they keep pestering you even after you’ve declined their advances, Suo will step in. “Hey darling, do you need my help here?” “How bold of you to assume you’d have a chance.” (He’s saying all of this with the most devious smile on his face, probably giggling too. Cheeky bastard.)

Strebers Rehearsal Rewrite for The Saturated AU!! (Since it's the shortest one, I figured I'd get over with rambling about this one first lmao)

So it opens up with Streber actually taking apart some different supplies (from the last Haunted House he did), and then kind of looking down at them with a frustrated expression, before suddenly growing even more angry and practically ripping them apart—and grumbling to himself angrily about the Haunted House until he's practically screaming (with there being like fire in the backround just as a visual way of showing his anger). Then the lights come on—and show his friends looking at him in the back.

Ethan appears worried–while the others just seem confused or unamused.

Awkwardly, as Liv watches with a smug smirk and Leon has a very confused but somewhat amused expression on his face, Ethan nervously speaks up. "Uh.. hey, I know this is your job and all, but.. aren't you kinda stressing yourself out about this a bit much? You kinda just finished working on everything for this year anyway—"

Streber practically then marches up to Ethan, gesturing with his hand. "Ethan—Ethan.. listen. Listen. You—you don't get it. Kids are getting harder and harder to impress every year—" He then whips around as Ethan just sighs.

Streber continues to rant, while his friends either watch with amused expressions or unamused expressions (with Ethan being the only one who seems exhausted/worried) "Everything this year needs to be perfect so no brats go complaining to their parents about how 'scary' the house was even though it's supposed to be a Haunted House!"

He whips around again, placing his glasses on his face with a stern expression. "And that goes for you guys too. Okay? Okay."

He turns back to his desk with a stern expression as Aria let's out a long sigh. "..yeah.. sure. Whatever, Streber."

Leon then begins to dust some more makeup on his hand, while Ethan watches with mild anxiety—and at some point Leon notices, and attempts to slam the powder into Ethans face. He fails, but giggles about what he almost did anyway as Ethan flinches back in alarm. Confi then practically yells while gesturing with her hands, "Hey, how well do you think its gonna go this year?!". Leon and her have a muffled, off-screen convo. Leon tells her to basically shut up at some point during it lmao. Aria also just looks at herself boredly in her mirror.

As Streber faces his desk, he says, "Alright, listen.. I have a lot to work on. So—I'd say it's better you probably all leave." As he says this, he makes a unamused/impatient face at Liv who is taking photos of herself as she stands in the mirror, and gently shoves her away. Liv makes a slightly offended face but slowly stumbles away while rolling her eyes.

Blaz practically runs after Confi as she leaves the room while giggling to himself. Aria takes a look at Ethan who nervously smiles at her, but Ethan is then startled by Leon suddenly jumping out, and nearly bumps into Aria in the process. Leon laughs because he managed to scare Ethan, and acts all smug/high and mighty about it. Ethan shoots him a look that basically says "..uhh.. hah.. nice scare, dude" while giving a thumbs up.

Streber then sternly says, "I've been working on this since last night. I feel like I just got beaten up or something cuz of how exhausting this is." He pinches the bridge of his nose as he says this.

Leon then begins to walk out of the room quickly, but gives Ethan a rough pat on the back as he does so and laughs about it. Aria rolls her eyes at this, while Ethan just gets startled again by the sudden pat, but just sighs and follows after Leon. "..well, okay. We'll leave you to it then."

"Sheesh, what's with you? It's not that important, is it?" Leon asks, seeming confused at why Streber is so damn worked up about this whole thing.

"Eh, don't worry." Liv smugly says, "He always does this. He'll probably flip out over the Haunted House not being completely perfect and have a total meltdown over it again."

This makes both Liv and Leon giggle while Ethan rolls his eyes sadly. But then Streber grabs a whole ass ruler from on his desk, and nearly hits them. Ethan protects them from getting hit while they both go completely quiet, and Streber makes a stern face.

He snarls, and then says, "By leave—I mean go!" He snaps his fingers impatiently, turning to his desk. "Now!"

Leon and Liv become irritated at him, and just grumble about how impatient he is and about how he didn't used to be so stern about this kind of thing. Ethan walks off with them silently. And it pans on a scribbled out photo of Streber graduating in Highschool.

"THAT I CAN MOST DEFINITELY DO. i have amazing taste with halloween costumes, if i say so myself." flashing her friend and former boss a smile. sure, it had been short lived and it wasn't any offense to hope that she could no longer be there. it was just... with what happened, she needed a fresh start. even if it was doing the same line of work... she couldn't go back. not after what had happened to her and especially not after the pieces she told hope. after all, she'd deserved an explanation. aria had dropped off the edge of the world when hope had been counting on her. telling her what she could bare to was the least she could have done. Hi! you responded to my circus post like. forever ago and i realized i had a question that a circus person might know. (sorry in advance that this is long) (also that things are a bit vague bc im trying to explain everything with as little doxxing as possible) (if this is overwhelming or whatever you are not required to read it. just say like "sorry i cant deal with this" and ill be fine)

a little bit of backstory (because idk how else to explain) is that both writing and circus are very prominent parts of my life and for the past like. six months (maybe even year) the idea of a play (because i have written some 10 minute plays) that incorporates circus as a part of the formatting has been rotating in my mind.

I saw a production recently (ish) with my school that was a play, but really it was a musical that incorporated an aerial window and aerial ladders as both set-pieces and aparatuses. they used them as windows and ladders, but at a certain point in the play, when one character was describing something that had happened, there were aerialists performing on the aparatuses. i talked to my teacher afterwards and she also thought i should write a play that incorporates circus. and i dont mean as a plot point (like they go to the circus) but as a way of telling the story.

i also saw an opera recently in which the songs were the same, and the plot was essentially the same as when it was written (several centuries ago), but the setting and costumes were all more modern. someone would sing an aria and then draw three squiggly lines on the wall that, at the third line, became clear it was the body of a naked woman. another where i swear it was a legit clown skit (he climbed up the stairs. flumped down and gave up, then slid down fully flat on his back, climbed up again, slid off sideways, then crawled up, all while operatically singing (used clown rule of three etc)also it was very exciting when he spun a hat on a cane like plate spinning cuz id just learned how to do that a week before). it made me think of just the contrast between a formal format (like a play or opera) and modern, comedic, and otherwise circus-y flares.

ANYWAYS. the main question arose with a convo i had with my dad the other day about this same thing (we've taken to asking each other if we've been thinking abt anything interesting lately) and he knew someone who was in the circus. he asked if there was a structure of the circus (like the three act structure of stories) and the guy said yes absolutely. it was something like starting with the least amount of people each act and then ending with the most. however, i think there was more to it and i wanted to find out to see if i could work with that. unfortunately my dad hasnt spoken to this guy in years and doesn't want to ask again.

so the question: whats the structure of a circus performance?

Hi! Sounds like you get some really cool shows in your area!

Some shows vaguely follow the structure your dad's friend outlined, but I think he's speaking in the loosest possible terms. Yes, the finale act of a show is usually the biggest and grandest, both in terms of spectacle and the number of people involved. But many also open with an extra energetic first act to welcome the audience to the show and set the expectation for what's to follow (think Kooza charivari, Kurios Chaos Synchro, Echo cube suspension). You also see lots of acts opening with solos or duets (Mystere aerial straps, Quidam German or cyr wheel, Amaluna unicycles, etc.). It's definitely not a hard and fast rule, but it can be an element in deciding how a show is paced.

I'd say the most successful base structure is one that balances a natural narrative flow, human attention span, and rigging needs. I use "narrative" here very loosely, because a story isn't a guarantee in a circus, but like a story you don't want to go from nothing nothing nothing to ACTION ACTION ACTION and then suddenly it's all over. It's unnatural, unpredictable, and disengages the audience, and circus is trying to do the opposite. Similarly you don't want people to have to crane their necks for four aerial acts in a row - eventually they're all gonna look the same and people will feel bored. Acts that demand more complex rigging need to go at a point in the show where they can be gracefully set up and taken down without disrupting other things taking place. All these factors may change if your show has an intermission - if it does, you want a kind of "mini" flow that keeps people excited about coming back for the second half.

Alegria IANL is a good example. It starts with a bold opening number with lots of participants, which makes sense because it's a show about revolution. Then we slow it down to a solo act followed by a duet. Fire knife dance is a solo too, but it really ramps the energy back up. The first half closes with Snowstorm, which is a huge spectacle and makes us excited about what they're gonna do with all these tiny paper snowflakes in the second half.

Then you come back from intermission and discover the answer is: see the most gorgeous romantic aerial straps act of your life (a duet). More peaks and valleys follow in alternating smaller and larger acts, all of them on the ground, and all of them with distinctly varying paces. Then close with flying trapeze, which pulls the focus upward, has the most complex rigging in the show, and uses a net they can get away with leaving up for the finale. Tada! A tight, engaging, well-balanced show.

okay, i’ve got a weird ship for you: paige/aria in pretty little liars.

they don’t interact much in canon but i think about their conversation in shadow play A Lot (which is actually just spencer talking to herself but i digress) and while i’m not sure if i ship it exactly, it does strike me as a dynamic worth exploring, so what are your thoughts?

Whether I ship it or not: I don’t ship it but I don’t Not ship it either… like I said Paige is not a char I am hugely compelled by even though I also don’t think she merits the level of hate she gets, so in terms of ships it’s more a thing where I need to read something to be convinced for instance I read an Emily/Spencer/Paige fic once I thought was very compelling on the Spencer-Paige angle. But I agree with what you said about their Shadow Play convo being interesting and I also think there are Paily scenes where Paige wants to watch black and white movies and who else likes those? So yeah, not opposed to it / would read a fic about it if it had an interesting premise.

Why I ship it or not: feel like I just answered this

My opinion on their canon potential (chemistry, canon interactions, etc): well they have one scene and it’s in Spencer’s mind so on some level I think it says more about Spencer than it does about either of them (this is not really that serious or important to the question but I saw someone use the “who sharpened your tongue little girl?” Alison to Emily line in Shadow Play as evidence Alison has never respected Emily and I thought it was unserious. First of all that line is delivered kind of flirtatiously (more so than a lot of Alison’s supposed to be flirtatious lines in s7), second this is in Spencer’s mind so says more about her perception of their dynamic than the actuality of it. Won’t get into my thoughts on how much Alison does or doesn’t respect Emily because that would be another post but like, that doesn’t really hold water to me as evidence of that). But anyway despite my thinking it says more about Spencer I do also think it points to how they could connect, and the common thread being queer coded language… like I said I would definitely be open to reading something exploring it. I also actually think them having a convo about Alison would be pretty fascinating since they had such different relationships with her, and they do both have terrible fathers.

My opinion on fanon interpretations/fandom around it (Favorite widespread hcs, pet-peeves, etc): well this is a very rarepair so n/a. But I do think they both get a disproportionate amount of hate individually (although like I said I’m more objective about that with Paige and more personally annoyed by that with Aria for subjective/biased reasons), so pairing them up might lead to some interesting meta commentary on that.
