The prompt I picked is (obviously) Falling Leaves, since it’s one of the things I love the most of Autumn. Of course, the protagonist is my absolute OTP 💕 I’ll love these two until my very last breath u.u

So I was reading this article for no very particular reason, and I stumbled across this word いぶし銀 ibushigin—literally, "tarnished silver".

It's from the verb 燻す ibusu—"to smoke (something); to oxidise". That's the same kanji Ibushi's given name is spelt with, of course. But Jisho also has it as "something restrained but impressive (e.g. performance); something quiet but superb; something masterfully controlled​".

Sound familiar at all?

This is what the article says:

いぶし銀 ibushigin means someone who holds real ability that is not flashy or gaudy. For instance, an actor who, while never centre-stage, has made their name in supporting roles, and is recognised for that understated ability. While they don't stand out like a celebrity, they have real importance and skill.

So it's literally Arima's name, the Silver Chevalier: his name is his role. He's just there in the background, getting on with shit. Never noticed like Kinshirou, but essential to the operation.

The duo thing uuh Kinshiro and Ibushi?

Everybody who knows me should know by now that KinAtsu is my main ship, but I have a lot of feelings for these two also. To explain my answers a little -

I ticked "Better in fanfic" because it probably would have messed up the story arc re: Kinshiro and Atsushi's big drama if there had been more focus on whatever was going on between Kinshiro and Arima.

This is not to say that I wouldn't have liked to see more of the two interacting, hence the "wasted potential" square. They barely scratched the surface of their relationship and I wish there had been time for more. (Please, world, bring back the 24/52 episode standard.)

They got "make him better" and "make him worse" at the same time because while I really do think they could be good for each other under the right circumstances, the fact also remains that both of them start out with such wonky moral compasses. Kinshiro is obviously the king of making himself miserable on purpose, and Arima seems willing to enable him when he's making stupid decisions (like, oh, say, trying to conquer the world to satisfy a stupd childood grudge) so under the wrong circumstances it would be easy to get trapped in a mutually destructive loop.

Which would be one of several option for the "angstangstangst" square. The other biggie, of course, would be Kinshiro settling down with Atsushi and Arima feeling left out. (I like the idea of a threesome, though. Kinchan can have a little harem, as a treat :P )
