It’s armenian genocide remembrance day! I’m an armenian artist with a crap ton of interests and love our culture so much <3
I drew our national animal (Golden Eagle) with forget-me-not flowers as a raffle for this week on toyhouse and i really like how it turned out! I learned that some forget me’s can be other colors and they look so pretty, i really wanna grow these someday in my garden
I do also want to mention that armenia is still going through a lot of genocide today and really hope people stand with armenia cause i’ve noticed our issues get pushed to the side A LOT in media and i don’t like that at all, it’s not fair. Take a moment of silence for all those affected, and make sure you let your loved ones know you love them! We’re all equal on this planet and there really shouldn’t be fighting when there can be peace.

Link in Armenian warrior clothing.
I’m starting a series where I draw my favourite characters in Armenian or South Caucasian clothing. I miss seeing more representation of other (smaller) countries in international media, which also includes video games. Most times we get the western orientalised version. Btw, I am aware that in most cases the creators don’t intend to represent real cultures, but just use them as inspiration. So, I’m not criticizing the inaccuracy. I just want to see more variations when it comes to southern cultures.

-❤Hi There!! Not many of you know this because I mainly post crafts and photos on this blog- but this project is extremely important to me so I wanted to make a quick post about it here! I am working on a webcomic/Graphic novel @the-pomegranate-princess that means the world to me! It follows Nareh the Pomegranate Princess, the daughter of two deities, The Mother of Land and The Father of Stars, on a journey learning how to be a proper leader. Living in a land untouched by the idea of war and conquering, her focus must shift from simply being a good leader, to becoming a warrior, after learning that the changing of rule opens up an opportunity for warlords who have been eyeing the land. This story is completely immersed with themes, folktales, and mythological creatures from my Armenian culture. It surrounds ideas of culture, community, sacrifice, war, love, loss, assimilation, survival, and is, in every sense of the word, a love letter to Armenia. I would greatly appreciate anyone who would like to follow my page as I proceed on this journey! The full first book has been written, 150 pages have been sketched, and there are many many more to go!! But this is a genuine passion project of mine that I hope can touch people's hearts, Thanks for reading!!!❤-

Libraries and Adult Lonliness
As we all know, making friends as adults is hard. And while the internet has made it easier to make friends with people around the world, actually meeting people you can meet with on a regular basis and just hang out with us tough. The common answer to meeting new people is to find people who are interested in the same stuff as you. As such, finding places to meet new people who may have similar interests to you is important. And that’s why I think the library is a great resource!
As a children’s librarian, one of the things I try to point out to parents when they come in to sign their kids up for the library is that we offer adult programs too. Obviously we have book clubs - my library has 4 different book clubs for people who read different types of books. I’ve posted about it before with knitting/crochet circles. But for people who have or want to explore different interests, and meet new people via that new interest, you may want to check your local library to see their programming. For example:
Hiking: Many libraries offer things like hiking kits. These can be things such as maps for local trails, hiking sticks, a water resistant backpack, binoculars, bird guides, and the like. But some libraries having hiking clubs, such as the Poughkeepsie Public Library Distruct in NY.
Tumblr media
Language Learning: Many libraries have access to language learning platforms such as Rosetta Stone or Mango Languages. But many other have dedicated classes where adults can come and learn languages. If you’re in L.A. county, the public library offers classes in beginner Russian, Chinese, Korean, Italian, Armenian, etc!
Music: there are many libraries that have maker spaces where you can go and record music. There’s one in the Newark Library and at a branch of the Brooklyn library. There are also ones that allow you to check out instruments. But there are also ones where you can receive free music lessons, such as the Dallas Public Library (this program was online during the pandemic but is now also offered in person!)
youtube
I could keep going.
Singing, dancing, theater, yoga, sketch comedy, creative writing, RC Cars, foraging, cemetery tour groups, jewelry making, baking, woodworking, painting, etc. If you have a niche interest or would like to get into a niche interest, there is a chance your library has had or will have a program about it. And if you’re looking to meet new people, it is a great place to start.

Girls from rusreal AU! Haniffa is Ossetian, Zara is Kabardinian They call each other sisters even though they aren't ones these are just some rough sketches lol I also think that calling this AU rusreal is incorrect... Yes, everything happens in Russia, but the people are from different nationalities. There are not only these ones, but also Kazakh, Armenian, Ukrainian, mixed people... And some more. So what should I call that AU? Slavic? Most of them aren't, nor am I. CIS countries AU? There's a Greek girl. Idk actually... Maybe just an "Oddly Specific University AU".

One of my first and favourite Tavs, Vuseth. Finally posting his sketches because he's gonna appear in a series of fics I'm working on (including the threesome one I posted about before. he is not in the threesome)
I wanted a Tav that played with how hilariously central to Every Single Character's lives a Tav that rolls well becomes. Tav gets away with SO much, decides the fates of so many people, as individuals and collectives, just through sheer Leader Vibes... And that kind of person is kinda perfectly set up to exploit an elder brain and become a cult leader. I imagined a Tav who created a bit of a cult within his desperate, lonely companions through his personality and apparent wisdom. Thats Vuseth.
He's a bard, more accurately a poet/troubadour, partially inspired by Armenian troubadours like Sayat Nova. Has big monk energy. Totally celibate, charismatic in a weird and spooky manner, seems to enjoy people telling him their problems, everyone he befriends comes to rely on him, and yet. No one seems to know him very well at all

I’ve talked about this one with some people. I think it was my idea??? If not I’ll change this section. Basically Liz is manipulative and toxic and Jon’s like doesn’t understand half of her manipulations but gets screwed anyways. Lyman is there for decoration. This sketch has em Who’s lila vibes.

For some reason when I tried makin fem Lyman he became Armenian. So she is now yea. Idk how it happened. But I’m glad.

Odd question.
Just curious.
Do you have any Sly Cooper OCs?
I have a few. They are all Cooper ancestors.
1. Chandrakupar. An Indian Buddhist monk (formerly) and scholar. Regarded as the kindest of all the Cooper ancestors. Translated the Thievius Raccoonus into Sanskrit and Tibetan. Was more concerned with spiritual matters and helping people in other ways than he was with thievery.
2. Mor Adai Gabriel Kuparon. Assyrian ancestor. Translated the Thievius Raccoonus into Syriac. He was buried in Midyat and he was accidentally (key word) canonised by the Syriac Catholic and Orthodox Churches 200 years after his death.
3. Garen Kooparian. Armenian ancestor. Carpet maker and merchant. Translated the Thievius Raccoonus into Armenian.
That’s all I’ve got.
What do you think?
Do you have any?
omg im so sorry ive been hibernating lol
i have three, none of them are fully fleshed out lol
the first one is the one ive had the longest and is just my self insert pretty much lol (and is the one in my icon)
Tumblr media
the second one is Rori Cooper, all ive got figured out for her is that she is albino, and lives in the country of georgia
Tumblr media
(messy sketch i apologize :3)
and the third one is one of rori's gang members. (i havent given her a name yet yikesss) but shes more of a spy and has like. tons and tons of disguises (shes a cockatiel because i thought it would be fun to make characters based off of my bestfriends favorite animals :) also its a bit of a challenge too)

TYSM everyone who came by for my Twitch stream this morning! A reminder, I am available for hire, for Japanese->English and Armenian->English translation and for art commissions! Drop me a reply and let's work out details.
Meanwhile, here's my latest portrait, intentionally left half-sketch. River is one of the protags from my book series, but I make no secret of the fact that she's also me writ large and in ideal cyborg form. I can't have the passive-scan targeting system, HUD projection, panel lines, and interface port. I'll settle for fundraising for just the top surgery and tats. You can help me get closer to that goal by subscribing at http://komaneko.gay where the sketch, alternate finished full-color background edition, and some more commentary, will all go up later today.

Porcelain in the metro. Bas-reliefs by N.Ya. Danko. Station "Theatrical".
I suggest that you familiarize yourself with porcelain bas-reliefs in the Moscow Metro. Let's start from the station "Teatralnaya" (Sverdlov Square), Zamoskvoretskaya line.
In the upper part of the station there are 14 porcelain bas-reliefs (sketch plaquettes) created at the Leningrad Porcelain Factory, according to the sketches of the legendary N.Ya. Danko.
The bas-reliefs depict dancing and playing representatives of the peoples of the USSR in national costumes: male and female figures of Armenians, Belorussians, Georgians, Kazakhstanians, Russians, Uzbekistanians and Ukrainians.
N. Lomonosova. Artist, art critic, exhibition curator.

8 years later and i finally made a tarot illustration for the inquisitor. I couldn't match the inquisition's art style, so I decided to use my own. Heavily referenced from Mucha and Klimt.

April 24th is Armenian genocide remembrance day.
If you don't know what that is, take some time today to research and educate yourself on the events. Here's a good starting point to learn about what happened to armenian population of Turkey in 1915:
There's also this website, but if you decide to open photo archives tw for literally everything (it's brutal):
Hear our stories, listen to our music and look at our art today. Despite everything we are still here and we aren't going anywhere. Never again.
