Someone else asked me archaeology finds personally so we're going to role with generally for this one:

Australia ones specifically, because I think theyre kinda underrated in the general scheme of global archaeology

The Lake Mungo burials (New South Wales). Definitely not underrated, the area is now world heritage listed. But they made SUCH an important impact on repatriation legislation, and the way Aboriginal people are allowed to interact with the archaeology of their own ancestors. I literally recommend the Message From Mungo documentary to everyone.

Murujuga underwater archaeology in Western Australia - a 7000 year old underwater site, which many hope will a) impact the way Australia's underwater heritage legislation interacts with Indigenous heritage (its currently very lacking) and b) gives more hope and research avenues for more Indigenous underwater archaeology projects in future

The extent of the (now world heritage listed) Budj Bim cultural landscape (Victoria), and specifically their eel trapping and storage areas

The various Yolŋu ship rock arts in Arnhem Land (Northern Territory) (they include some VERY detailed Indonesian ships, and as more research is being done on them, it appears to be increasing the amount of time Makassan people have been in contact with northern Australia).

Mabuyang Island (Torres Strait) excavations. Excavations from the early 2000s in the Torres Strait islands have found not only extensive trade with Papua New Guinea, including ceramics. But ALSO evidence of local pottery making on some islands. This is the only area in Australia known to have participated in ceramic technology so far.

Region of Origin: Australia

Mimi (or Mimih) are fairy-like beings from the mythologies of various aboriginal groups of Arnhem Land, Australia. They have extremely thin and elongated bodies, which are at risk of breaking from even the slightest of winds. Because of this, they usually stay inside rock crevices, only coming out on windless days to fish and hunt.

The Mimi are ancestral beings who lived in Australia during the Dreamtime, a mythical period told of in the legends of many, many aboriginal tribes and peoples across Australia. They taught the aborigines many survival skills, such as how to hunt and cook kangaroo meat and, by extension, how to use fire, as well as creative skills, such as painting, through which the aborigines preserve their ancestors' noble deeds.

While they are mostly friendly, Mimi can be mischievous and dangerous to those who disturb them, and they are weary of strangers. The Mimi keep pets, which includes animals such as kangaroos, echidnas, crocodiles and many others. They will become extremely upset if one of their pets is harmed, bringing illness, kidnapping or even killing those who harm their pets. Nonetheless, they are peaceful creatures with a society of their own who promote harmony between Man and Nature.

These colours - pastel pinks and browns are some of my favourite tones from the vast Australian Aboriginal art field. 

"The use for ochre paints is marked in Arnhem Land and east Kimberley. Materials (colours) used for Aboriginal art was originally obtained from the local land. Ochre or iron clay pigments were used to produce colours such as white, yellow, red and black from charcoal.

Other colours were soon added such as smokey greys, sage greens and saltbush mauves.

During the mid 1980’s with more Aboriginal women artists, appeared on the scene and a wider range of modern colours were chosen and bright desert paintings started to arrive on the market...

Aboriginal culture dates back as far as between 60,000 to 80,000 years.  This is when Aborigine’s first settled in Australia.  The first evidence of Aboriginal ethos or philosophy is evident in the still visible rock art which dates back more than 20,000 years.

Ochres were used to paint on rocks.  Archaeologists have been able to date remains and findings as far back as 40,000 to 60,000 years from discoveries of primal campsites.

There is no written language for Australian Aboriginal People so in order to convey their important cultural stories through the generations it is portrayed by symbols/icons through their artwork."

Magpie Goose (Anseranas semipalmata) – Ancient Waterfowl

Let's go to study for this species and for Dean, joke 🤣

This is a real species of waterfowl is the sole living representative species of the family Anseranatidae. This common waterbird is found in northern Australia and southern New Guinea.

The Kunwinjku of western Arnhem Land know this bird as manimunak. It became an important food item with the formation of wetlands about 1500 ya, and is depicted in rock art from this period. Mimi figures are often shown holding goose-feather fans. In Yolŋu Matha the bird is known as gurrumaṯtji, or around Ramingining as gumang.

In the Wadawurrung language, the magpie goose is known as Ngangok.

In Two Lights, Worldcraft, Equation, and Rescris series which is set in the future era, this species' name was from Arrernte word as manimutyka for this species, which is borrowed from Kunwinjku language.

How did the Civil Rights Movement change ideologies in different aspects of Australian society in the 1960s?

I selected the first one as I felt I had more evidence to back up this question.

Top Scenic Drives in the Northern Territory

When you take your campervan rental Darwin along the Northern Territory, you are greeted by some of the incredible and breathtaking views in this region. The route comprises of beautiful desert sands, thermal pools and a lot more. You should wait for the wildlife to give you their special attention or the sun to set and look incredible over this region.

Here we will take you through some of the incredible views that you should drive for along this route.

1.    The nature’s way is a loop that starts and ends at Darwin. It moves along Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield while you go along this route. All these three place are known for their national parks, which are definitely must-visit. You can drive this route and plan your accommodations to ensure you visit the national parks, the yellow water Billabong at Kakadu, and the Ubirr rock art site. you should also plan a visit to the pools and waterfalls around the national park. It should be a three to five day road trip that comprises of unlimited fun.

2.    The next loop that you should drive your motorhome hire Darwin along is the Greater Litchfield Loop. It takes you through all the national parks in Litchfield and makes you breathe in the inspiring views. You should start this loop from Pelican Brekky. After this wildlife park, you can go to the Litchfield national park, where you will be welcomed by the beautiful landscape, incredible waterfalls and nature pools. You should then go to Dundee beach, which is renowned for fishing. You can also explore the history of world war II near Mandorah. This is a 3-4 day roadtrip route. Make sure you have all the gear needed to enjoy this scenic drive.

3.    If you are exploring Darwin, then you should definitely try taking your campervan rental Darwin along the explorer’s way. It moves from Alice Springs to Darwin and is in all a 1500km route. The highway connects the Red Centre with the Top End on this route. You will be welcomed by several hot spirings, limestone caves and overland Telegraph. If you love the word UFO, you should sight some in Wycliffee while on this route. Tenant Crek is known for the NyinkkaNyunyu art centre. If you love the combination of history and pub, you should go to Daly Waters. The Nitmiluk National Park along this route is another magnificent and must-visit site. you should also plan to visit the thermal pools in Elsey national park, which is along this route.

4.   Arnhem way that goes from Katherine to Mhulunbuy and is 730 kms should be on your list of roadtrips. It is full of adventures and fishing, which you cannot deny yourself. If you want a glimpse in the culture of Australia, you should drive through the East Arnhem lands. You will drive through open woodlands and Mitchell Ranges. There are several river crossings on this route which you can enjoy from the inside of motorhome hire Darwin. Make sure to plan a 2-3 day roadtrip to enjoy this stretch.
