Hey y'all
I’m Sova — an artist currently between jobs but full of passion and big ideas. I’m here to connect, get inspired, and hopefully inspire some of you too!
I’m always open to commissions and requests, so if you need help with a project (or just want to brainstorm something cool), feel free to reach out! I absolutely love visual development and am constantly working to level up my skills.
Let’s be real — it’s tough out there. Have you seen those requirements for entry-level jobs? Yikes. But hey, maybe we can help each other grow and create something awesome.
I’ll be posting some of my work soon, so stay tuned, duckies šŸ¦† Don’t be shy — message me any time, whether it’s for a job, collab, or just a friendly chat.

Tumblr media
What Are Open Art Contests?
Open art contests are exactly what they sound like – they are creative competitions that are open to a wide range of artists without any restriction for themes, regardless of experience, location, or medium. They can be hosted by local galleries, non-profit organizations, art platforms like or contemporary online galleries like TERAVARNA, or even brands looking to engage creative communities.
Open art competitions are more welcoming than traditional juried shows that may rely heavily on credentials or gallery representation. These contests encourage participation from diverse backgrounds, making enough room for emerging artists, experimental styles, and digital creators alike.
Why They Matter More Than Ever
This is the time of the art world becoming virtual and accessible for all. In this time art is increasingly shared and consumed online, thus open contests have become an essential launchpad for both new and established artists. Look into these matters that make them significant more than ever -
1. Accessible for All
The moment an artist searches for open art exhibitions near me, they unleash a world of opportunities—artists can explore them for nominal or zero entry fees and there are minimal barriers to participation. These contests help in exposure, and make room for fair play.
2. Recognition Comes Easy
While you win or get shortlisted in digital art competitions or art competition shows, it boosts your credibility as an artist. It’s not just about winning the trophy—it’s about building your portfolio and reputation.
3. Keep up Growth
Contests always help artists to come out of their comfort zones and work toward a deadline, responding to a prompt. They help you seek your place in a world of expressions, experiment with new styles, and keep growing as a creator.
4. Community & Collaboration
There are various open competitions or digital showcases organized by online galleries like TERAVARNA that help you gain social media spotlights—so as to connect you with other artists, curators, and collectors. They become a bridge to the broader art world.
What Types of Contests Exist?
There are various types of contests that an artist can enrol for. Here is a list of popular form of contests:
Conventional Art Shows – Traditional art shows are hosted by local galleries or arts organizations and they feature works like painting, sculpture, drawing.
Digital Art Competitions – These are newcomers! Artists who work in Procreate, Photoshop, or 3D software can submit their artwork without ever printing a canvas.
Art Competition Shows – They are televised or streamed competitions like The Exhibit or Work of Art. They are a blend of performance, process, and drama.

Tips: How to Stand Out in a Show
If you wish to make your submission count read through these points:
Ā· Ā  Ā  Ā  Obey the Guidelines Carefully
Each and every contest has its own requirements regarding size, file types & formats, themes, etc. Don’t let technicality disqualify your masterpiece.
Ā· Ā  Ā  Ā  Customize Your Work
Be original in whatever you do. If there’s a theme, let the world know your interpretation and creative depth. Jurors of the shows always prefer authenticity to quantity of work.
Ā· Ā  Ā  Ā  Draft a Strong Artist Statement
An artist's statement is something that plays a crucial role in evaluation as an artist. Tell a compelling story behind your piece in a way that’s clear and compelling. This is especially important in digital art competitions, where context elevates visual work.
Ā· Ā  Ā  Ā  Smart & Neat Presentation Matters
Make sure you use high resolution images that have backgrounds properly lit. Even the best artwork can fall flat with dull or insufficient lighting. Present your best of works professionally, no matter if it's a physical painting or a JPEG one.
Final Thoughts: The Canvas Calling
Open art contests let artists celebrate their styles for all stages in their careers. Whether you're hoping to showcase for the first time, or get discovered by a collector, or wish to gain feedback from friends and fellow artists, these competitions can be powerful catalysts for your creative journey.
So, the next time you receive notifications for an online call, or a post about art competition shows or digital art competitions, don’t scroll past. Stop and think. Put your art in front of the world. It’s the open canvas calling, all you need to do is fill with your colors and brushstrokes.

2017 repost: Sylvia Rybak is a Berlin-based emerging photographer from Warsaw, who combines her scrupulous rendering of the aesthetically beautiful with her fascination of the surreal and absurd.
Tumblr media
In her photography, Sylvia reduces the role of the humans to purely aesthetic and playfully arranges them along with other objects in a studio. Creating art is a way for her to escape reality. Most of her photographs are staged in non- existent places where rational rules no longer apply. Her photographs are a study of how the bizarre can be created and what interpretations arise upon viewing. All created in a colourful palette, these images seem both random and precisely prepared. Sylvia deliberately uses a kitsch and playful visual style in order to create a contrast between lighthearted visuals and the eerie details within them.
She has being published by KALTBLUT Magazine as an artist to focus on, and Artconnect as a spotlight artist.
Now Mō Gallery is diving a little deeper with an interview, to get to know more about her.
Have a look!

The one of the first things that attracted my attention about the brand is its amazing relationship with art. The art is an inherent part of the label and has impact on the whole brand identity.

They are about uplifting stories that are gentle heart opening spaces. Within each piece lives my stories and when you pause to connect, you add your story and somehow in the sharing the art becomes so much more. These pieces are perfect to live in a small home sanctuary, a nook or study area. These pieces intuitive owls create a space of meaning making that has an ability to shift our mood into those mindful spaces within this creative moment. My hope is that these little owls will make you smile and bring you back to your own stories of beautiful moments of pausing and being present. My Crow Show has left the building…but not before handing off purchased pieces to their new caretakers. One of the best aspects to creating art is connecting with who would otherwise be complete strangers…people whose paths you might not have crossed under different circumstances…but your art summoned their presence and in a single moment you see each other in the most genuine, soulful way that feels fantastically fateful. I feel so very fortunate to have experienced it countless times and each is priceless. The mutual euphoric exchange between artists and art buyer is the highest high. #gratitude #artsale #artcollector #crowlovers #crowart #showclosing #assemblageartists #sacramentogallery #artconnection #highesthigh #fortheloveofcrows (at Arthouse on R) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfr4VfYP5iB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
