Snowball Fight

pairing: arthur havisham x gn!reader

summary: you and arthur end up having a snowball fight and he actually enjoys himself for once.

The cold breeze bit at your cheeks as you approached your friend, the snow crunching under your feet with every step. Arthur hadn't spotted you yet, as he was just leaving his lodgings, but you'd spotted him as you were walking along the path.

You probably should've called his name to get his attention, that's what any ordinary person would've done. But instead you crouched down, gathering a handful of snow between your hands, before launching a snowball at him, the compacted lump of snow hitting him right on the shoulder.

You couldn't help the quiet chuckle that left your lips as he turned around, very clearly annoyed that you'd thrown a snowball at him.

"I'm sorry, remind me again how old you are, (y/n)?" He scowled, although his pale skin paired with his reddened nose made him appear slightly less intimidating than he'd initially intended.

"How else was I meant to get your attention?"

"Certainly not like that."

"Oh, don't be such a grump Arthur."

"Alright." He simply said, before turning and gathering his own handful of snow.

You barely even had time to react before he launched a snowball at you. And you were surprised to say the least, especially considering his lips were now twisting into a grin, which was a rare look for Arthur.

"You're going to regret that." You smirked, quickly retrieving another handful of snow and sending it his way.

And before you knew it, you both found yourselves in the midst of a snowball fight, right in the middle of the street. Your stomach was beginning to hurt from laughter, and Arthur was smiling the widest you'd ever seen him.

You paused for a moment to simply take it in, your own mouth pulling into a grin as you looked at him.

"What?" He asked, puffs of cold air leaving his lips as he watched you.

"Happiness looks good on you, Arthur."

It's Okay

Pairing: Arthur Havisham x Fem!Reader

Summary: In which you walk in on Arthur after Compeyson has beat him.

Warnings: Mentions of abuse and injury detail.

A/N: The relationship is completely platonic here.

As you trudged through the snow, thoughts of the last half hour plagued your mind. You had been passing Satis House and you'd spotted Arthur being thrown out of the gates by Mr Compeyson.

You and Arthur had been friends for some time now and this was the first you'd seen him being thrown out of his own home, much less by a man who was supposed to be his friend.

You were currently on your way to visit Arthur, so that you might learn why he was so out of sorts earlier.

When you arrived at his door, you heard voices from inside the room, which were soon followed by what you believed to be the snap of a belt. And it was that sound that prompted you to open the door.

"What on Earth is going on here?" You questioned, taking in the scene.

Compeyson was standing by the window whilst Arthur lay in his bed, blood streaked across the back of his shirt. "What have you done?"

"Now, I assure you, Miss. What happened here was quite deserved." Mr Compeyson tried, stepping toward you slightly.

"Get out." You ordered, making your way over to Arthur. "Leave at once."

"I'm sorry?" Compeyson scoffed. "But who are you to give me orders?"

"Mr Compeyson, I hope you know that if you don't leave right now, then I might see it fit to tell everybody what has happened here."

"You lie!" He spat.

"Oh, on the contrary, I am very much telling the truth."

He didn't offer you a comeback to that and instead he stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him. You sat down on the edge of the bed next to Arthur, and he was crying.

"Arthur?" You said softly. "Are you alright?"

He didn't respond so you continued to speak to him.

"Arthur, what happened? Why did he do this to you?"

"You heard him." He muttered. "It was deserved."

"Arthur? Are you well enough to sit up?"

He nodded before slowly lifting from the bed, wincing when he finally managed to sit up straight.

Seeing him in such pain had you struggling to keep your composure. It was truly heartbreaking to see your friend like this.

You reached your hands out to grip the back of his shirt, and you carefully pulled the ruined fabric up over his head, revealing the dark lines that were etched into his back.

"Wait here." You told him, getting up to get a bowl of water and a wash cloth.

"I'm going to clean your wounds now." You warned him as you dipped the cloth in the water.

You squeezed out the excess water before reaching up to gently press the cloth against his skin.

Arthur winced at the sudden pressure but apart from that, he remained mostly quiet as you cleaned the cuts on his back.

"Why did he do this Arthur?" You asked him again as you finished tending to his injuries.

"It's nothing of your concern."

"I'm your friend Arthur, of course it is my concern."

The two of you fell into silence again then and when you set the bowl and cloth on the floor beside the bed, you stood to find him a clean shirt.

Once you had helped him into his shirt, you sat back down next to him. And for a while, you said nothing. You didn't know what to say.

It was clear that Arthur would not tell you exactly what had happened, and you weren't going to push him. But you wanted to ensure he was alright. That he was safe.

"I thought you and Mr Compeyson were friends." You finally said, breaking the silence between the two of you.

Arthur didn't respond so instead, you chose to rest your hand on his shoulder.

"You don't have to speak to me Arthur, but you must know I am here for you. I won't leave you alone at a time like this."

He turned to look at you then, his eyes glossy with tears. "(y/n), you mustn't feel like you have to stay." He choked out.

"You're my friend, Arthur. I will stay as long as you need me to."

With that, he finally allowed the tears to fall again. He leaned down, burying his face in your shoulder and you wrapped your arms around his neck. And you remained like that, holding him as he cried.

"It's okay." You said softly, gently stroking the back of his head. "It will all be okay."

You were grateful that he had let you comfort him, but your heart ached for him as he cried into your shoulder, your hands cradling his head.

You wanted to know what had happened. You wanted to know why Compeyson had thought it was appropriate to do such a thing.

But it would take time for Arthur to open up, so all you were able to do now was just sit and hold him, in the hopes that it brought him some comfort.

Pairing: Arthur x Male!Reader

Summary: You've been secretly drawing your boyfriend Arthur for a while now and you've been too scared to show him your drawings, until one day when he finds one of them.

A/N: So I'm not sure if this is good or not because I've never written Arthur as a happy character before lol and also this is my first time doing a male reader so I hope it's okay. This was such a sweet idea!

Also, I wasn't sure how to incorporate the poems part without it sounding out of place so I hope it's okay that I just did the sketches.

You couldn't help the small smile that graced your lips as you looked down at your latest sketch of Arthur in your hands.

You wanted to show him, especially since you'd been secretly drawing him for the past month now. You must've had at least six different drawings now, and everytime you saw him you had the urge to show him what you'd drawn.

But to be honest, you were worried he might think it was strange.

You took a short breath before slipping the image away in your coat pocket and entering his room.

He was sitting on his bed, a glass of wine in his hand. "(y/n), could I speak with you a moment?"

"Alright." You said quietly, keeping your hands at your sides as you waited for him to continue.

You noticed the hint of a smile on his face as he pulled out a slip of paper from his nightstand. "I believe you may have left something here after your last visit."

Your heart almost stopped beating when he presented a drawing to you, one of your drawings. "Oh, well you see...that...that is...I can explain...I just-"

"Did you draw this?"

You nodded, nervously wringing your hands together. "Yes, yes I did. I apologise."

He chuckled, turning the image around now to look at it himself. "There's no need to apologise, I'm flattered."

"You are?"

"Yes! Honestly, I'm just surprised you'd even think to draw me in the first place."

You couldn't help but sigh at that last comment. "Arthur, why must you always put yourself down? You're a truly wonderful man and I've been drawing you because of that reason."

"Do you have any more drawings? Or is it just the one?" He suddenly asked, looking up at you.

"I...have a few." You confessed, revealing your latest sketch from your pocket and handing it to him as you sat down beside him.

You noticed a small smile grace his features as he looked down at the drawing, and it made your heart flutter as you took him in.

"Your smile really is incredible." You found yourself saying quietly, more to yourself than him.

"Thank you." He said, turning to look at you. "For the drawings, it really means a lot to me."

"Really?"

"Yes, of course." He smiled, bringing a hand up to rest against the side of your face. "You're amazing."

Updates 7.22.22

Hello, lovelies!

Man, it’s been a busy week. Part 5 of Who Wants to be Lonely is up! I’ve also done a couple of asks and HCs about Eddie and would love to answer more. General HCs, Eddie telling you he has a kid (aka Dustin), Eddie hearing Dustin yell and still coming out swinging. 

As far as fics in the works, I’m working on Part 6 of Who Wants to be Lonely as well as a Dickensian Arthur Havisham/Male Reader oneshot. 

Today I’m planning on spending it finally busting through this editing I need to do. With this Eddie hyper fixation I’ve got going on, I’ve kinda let my ghostwriting stuff slide so I have to buckle down and get this project finished so I can get back to fic writing. 

As always, I’m totally here for asks and distractions. 

Also, on a non-fic related note, I wrote/directed/edited/starred in an audio drama podcast called To Court Death. All five episodes are live so please have a listen! Episodes are about 20 mins long each.
