What happens with certain shippers (Jon/aunty & Jon/fave sister) and Justin Sweet's asoiaf artworks???

First they claimed that Justin Sweet's renditions of Joshua York & Jon Snow hanging next to each other in GRRM's home office confirms that Jon/aunty are true everlasting love; and now, apparently, Justin Sweet's renditions of "black haired" Stark women in the 2024 Asoiaf Calendar confirms that The Rose of Winterfell has nothing to do with Sansa Stark and her mother Catelyn. All because they are still mad that the The Rose of Winterfell is depicted as a redhead, very similar to Sansa and Catelyn in the A Clash of Kings Graphic Novel.

Fave sister stans now sound like cujo stans with the "l would like to remind you that these drawings were selected by GRRM." They all like too much to make up narratives to support their ships . . . .

A series of comics based on your story "The Hedge Knight" has recently been released. Are you satisfied with its implementation? Are there any plans to make comics based on your other works? The proposal to create a comic book based on The Hedge Knight did not come from me, but from the publisher. I was contacted, showed some preliminary sketches, which didn't impress me. But the guys were persistent and did not give up: they continued to search for a suitable artist until they settled on Michael S. Miller. In the end, he did his job just perfectly. Michael was very cool, in my opinion, was able to convey the inner essence of the characters through their appearance - that's exactly how I imagined them when I wrote the story. My participation in the project was minimal: I just carefully reviewed all the dialogues and drawings to make sure that no mistake or inaccuracy crept in anywhere. Now we are discussing the creation of a sequel based on the second part of the adventures of Dunk, published in the collection "Legends 2". It will most likely be made in the same six-comic series format as Knight of the Hedge. We also discussed the possibility of creating comics based on the Canto novels themselves. But given the size of my books, this would require a really massive series. I'm not sure that we are ready for such a grandiose project. —Mir Fantastiki - 2006 - Google translation from the source in Russian:

Idk if you've been asked this before, but could you post your favorite arts of Arya (official or fanmade)?

I wish I had saved Arya fanart before the show premiered around 2011! There were so many really good ones that are hard to find now because the show and hence show Arya became popular and in many ways show Arya/Maisie influences how the character looks and the choice of clothing/costumes that artists use in their art.

Anyways, here are some fanart I could find and that I do like for what I imagine book Arya to look like:

For more recent art I have found on tumblr, I have to say I adore Laura's fanart in general and more specifically the Arya fanart. It's canonically accurate and at the same time unique and imaginative in the way it uses classical art/paintings in their fanart. Also, this one? ❤️❤️❤️

I like that that the above artists draw Arya in very different ways and yet I can picture Arya in these images and enjoy them.

The Norman Rockwell Museum presents 'Enchanted: A History Of Fantasy Illustration', a group art exhibition that presents the immutable concepts of mythology, fairy tales, fables, good versus evil, and heroes and villains through paintings, etchings, drawings, and digital art.

 'Enchanted' traces the development of fantasy art from Old Masters like Bosch, Dürer, and Henry Fuseli, through Golden Age illustrators like Arthur Rackham and Howard Pyle, to classic cover artists like Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo, and emerging talents like Anna Dittmann and Heather Edwards.

The exhibition is on view at the Norman Rockwell Museum, 9 Glendale Rd / Rte 183 Stockbridge , MA 01262, until October 31 2021.

Tales of Dunk and Egg aka A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

Find myself reading this great book again after hearing the news of a series adaptation of “Tales of Dunk and Egg,” which is a prequel to the events of “Game of Thrones.” 

The tales consist of three novels, ‘The Hedge Knight’ (1998), ‘The Sworn Sword’ (2003) and ‘The Mystery Knight’ (2010), which were consolidated and published together into ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ in 2015.

A century before ‘Game of Thrones’, two unlikely heroes wandered across the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. 

A time where the Targaryen still holds the  Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon alive has not yet passed from living memory. 

A time before the misadventures of Tyrion Lannister and Ser Bronn, there was Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and his squire, Aegon V Targaryen (Egg).

Dunk is a young and naïve but courageous hedge knight (a wandering knight without a master like a Japanese Ronin). Tagging along with him is his diminutive squire, a boy called, Egg – whose true identity must be hidden from all: for in reality he is Aegon V Targaryen, and one day he will be king. Improbable heroes though they be, great destinies lie ahead for Dunk and Egg; as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits.

Featuring more than 160 illustrations by Gary Gianni, one of the finest fantasy artists of our time, this beautiful volume will transport readers to the world of the Seven Kingdoms in an age of bygone chivalry.

I like the story in a sense that it follows a wandering hedge knight akin to that of the Ronin or lone Samurai from the Japanese Classics where the warrior travels across the lands, from one village to the other, meeting different people, both the good and the bad, with each village being different than the other in many ways, and the warrior finds himself entangled by the local problems, either voluntarily or involuntarily, and must do what he must to survive. 

It’s like The Witcher and The Mandalorian if you will. So if you like those, you don’t have to be a Game of Thrones fan to like this one. You don’t even have to know about what’s going on in Game of Thrones to enjoy this, as it’s a prequel and not a sequel, so even if you happen to feel like watching it after, at least you’ll know by then what the hell is going on throughout the seven kingdoms. It’s so good that there’s even a graphic novel which are based on the books.

While there are mixed reactions from Game of Thrones fans after that disastrous season finale where the plots were rushed with that anti-climatic ending with the Night King in one episode and several character developments being thrown out the window the same way Bran fell off that tower in season 1, I think this prequel will definitely way better or I daresay be as good as the first season. 

The reason is, just like the first few seasons of Game of Thrones, this prequel will be based on the books that are already published, so the characters arc, the stories and plot twists are already well written in the books so the producers can based the clever dialogues and elaborate plots of the live series off the books. Something which evidently lack in the last few seasons. 

Since our boy, George, have not yet finished writing the last two books, ‘The Winds of Winter’ and ‘A Dream of Spring’, the producers do not have anything solid to continue the series with and instead of waiting for the book to be finished, just like the rest of us book readers have been waiting since 2011 where the latest book, ‘A Dance with Dragons’ was first published, they use their own ideas and imaginations to carry on the story instead.

So I think it’s safe to say that ‘The Tales of Dunk and Egg’ will definitely be better than the last season of Game of Thrones, in terms of story-telling, character arc, plot twists and clever dialogues. Having said that, I very much look forward to it!

Hal Foster got his start in comics as artist of the “Tarzan” Sunday page. On February 13, 1937 King Features launched his own strip “Prince Valiant”.

Foster retired as artist in 1971 and John Cullen Murphy took over until 2004. Gary Gianni, who has credits at Dark Horse and DC, took over from Murphy.
