First of Her Name - Chapter 1
Summary: As a child, Eydis Frey knew only fear. Her mother murdered, and the threat of a forced marriage ever looming, escape seems the only option. But fleeing to King's Landing means entering the lion's den, where the people she loves are never safe.
When you play the Game of Thrones you win, or you die. And she will not go down without a fight.
It was not a momentous occasion when Walder Frey took a wife. Nor was it a unique one.
House Rheon had not been a prosperous family, settled in some far-flung corner of the Riverlands, counting what few coins they had to their name. But sometimes a beautiful daughter is worth more than a pocket of gold, and they found that in young Io. A body too young to have ever born a child at all. Her step-children, many as old as Io’s own parents, gathered outside, awaiting the news carried by the maester. There were no words of celebration for a daughter, and Io found herself the only one unable to feel an ounce of disappointment as she gazed down upon the sleeping bundle in her arms.
“Eydis.”
