Introducing Maralynn Arryn (ft. Aryana Stark and Brigitte Tully)

Maralynn Arryn and Aemond Targaryen had been sworn to each other since childhood. What was meant to be a marriage of convenience, at least in Maralynn’s eyes, became one of love and passion before either of them even realized it. Until the Dance of the Dragons.

( stark c / lewis tan / cis man & he/him ) hear ye hear ye — the riverlands welcomes lord edric stark of winterfell. king matthos baratheon is glad that the thirty - three year old appears to be honourable and he shall overlook that it’s said they are also uptight, as long as they are glad to celebrate peace in the seven kingdoms. fortunately for them, matthos remains oblivious that they ARE happy with his reign.

Name: Edric 'Ned' Stark Age: thirty-three Orientation: heterosexual, heteroromantic ( regrettably ) Loyalties: House Stark, The North Religious affiliation: Old Gods Appearance: he grew taller than his father at 6'2 and shoulders broadened to match. Dark hair and dark eyes, keeps a well trimmed beard most of the time. Gait: he walks with pride but not overbearingly so, steps can sometimes be heavy and he's not particularly graceful but walks with reluctant purpose. if he's following one of his children he's crouching down or bending over, probably hurried too. Traits: cautious, attentive, protective, worrisome, loyal, steadfast, disciplined, generous, sceptical, principled, just, incorruptible ( maybe ) Values: he was raised to do the decent thing and so he values the same trait in others. he doesn't appreciate being lied to ( although he's not always able to discern when that is happening ) and believes that a man's word is his bond. Fears: since he was eight years old he had feared the death of his family, mostly at the hands of southerners. now that he is older and he has children to worry about as well as his siblings this fear has only grown. he worries about his father in king's landing and what attention his role as hand will bring them all. BIOGRAPHY: -

tl;dr - the weight of the future of the north and house stark weighs heavily upon him. he feels the responsibility keenly and his cautious nature makes him reluctant to break from tradition. losing his aunt, uncle and grandfather has made him hesitant of going south and he cannot help but believe that nothing good happens to a northerner who goes south. soft and something of a pushover with his family, the same way that his direwolf is, but that doesn't mean everyone is afforded the same grace. in everything he does ned tries to embody the north that he will one day lead, he stands for the honour and pride of its people but can also be as hard and cold as its ice.

with all the hours he played at shadowing his father it was inevitable that he would take on some of rickard stark's traits. but it was more than just imitation and following his father's lead, ned truly was his father's son. the importance of tradition was impressed upon him and the first time he watched his father swing a sword over his head in the name of justice, he knew that he wanted to be able to uphold their laws with the same tenacity.

the deaths of his aunt, uncle and grandfather would always hang over him. he was eight years old when events begun to unfold and remembers it vividly. how they'd gone south while he'd stayed behind and not returned. how winterfell would never echo with his aunt's laughter, how his uncle would never tease him about his form when they sparred and how any wisdom his grandfather might have had for him would be forever lost.

their absence was felt keenly and so he found himself clinging more tightly to his siblings, showing that he was his mother's son too with how often he embodied her house's motto of family, duty, honour. they became his tenants to live by as he grew older, having lost family members so young he wanted nothing more than to keep those he had left as close to him as possible. he held his siblings close, always thawing him out before he could let himself get too cold.

whether he would have always been an old soul or that was a fate inflicted upon him by grief is a question that will never be answered. but ned tended to be on the serious side growing up, shunning some types of fun in the name of honour. the only ones who could successfully get him to bend the rigid bars he restrained himself with were his family but mostly calon greyjoy, once he'd convinced the ironborn to warm up to him.

duty came for him later in life when the betrothal that had been a certainty for so long finally became inevitable. he had been determined to be a good husband no matter what he felt for his bride to be but when he met talisa it was almost love at first sight. it wasn't just her obvious beauty that drew him but the fact that they seemed like a perfect match - her freeness balancing his caution.

the only rule he broke ( more like bent ) was the feelings he had for his bride to be leading to them sharing before the wedding, the union resulting in their daughter being born swiftly after their wedding. so taken with both his daughter and his wife, more two children followed before a brief break was taken for more to follow again.

he balances the role of father with the one of lord, ever learning from his father until the death of mychel arryn called rickard south. the childhood anxiety that had ebbed with the flow of years began to rise once more. nothing good happens to a stark in the south is a sentiment he feels deep in his gut and he does his best to continue to lead the north in the absence of his father.

HEADCANONS: -

he didn't enjoy his weapon lessons until his uncle cregan began teaching him. it wasn't anything that his father did wrong, just his uncle found a way to simplify things and make it more fun. after his death he struggled to take it back up but continued to do so in the hope he could be remembered as a great swordsman.

he believes that his word is his bond and he will hold others to theirs also. there have been times where this has been used against him, drunken lapses in judgement being exploited for other's gain ( looking at you calon greyjoy )

Sansa Appreciation Week 2020

Day 8: Queen Sansa

sansa appointed an ambassador to king bran's court to represent the north and ensure the two nations live together in harmony

she also created new lords and gives them land in dreadfort, bear island and last health. all of these men are careful chosen to ensure that they remain loyal to house stark

after her coronation, sansa immediately sent letters to her uncle and cousin to establish a relationship with the both of them. the vale and the riverlands have more farmland than the north for now and sansa would need to buy food from them

she then took a loan from the iron bank. the north has suffered from multiple battles and would need a lot of rebuilding and the coffers aren’t exactly full

first sansa helped the lords repair or rebuild their castles and in exchange, they agreed to a higher taxes. then she focused on building walled settlements along the north (named after her family, the largest one is called aryana)

then she focused on green houses, installing several in winterfell and the new towns.

the climate of westeros stabilised after the night king dies and this meant the north was capable of producing certain crops 

moat cailin was restored and was under the dominion of house stark. a high stewart was appointed to man the area and act as an ambassador

finally sansa built fortresses along the coastlines to protect the north from an attack

new ports were built with the help of the manderlys. one of them was given to lord manderly’s son so he can start his own cadet house. sansa intends on giving a few of them to her children.

after that sansa turned her attention to the free cities with the hopes of encouraging trade between the nations

within the first five years of her reign, the north was thriving

after her brother opened a new citadel, sansa began a ten year project to build one of her own

My name is Aryana of House Stark, First of my Name, The Promised Child, the Dragonwolf, the Summerborn, Lady of Winterfell, the Auburn Queen and Protector of the Seven Kingdoms. And this is the story of my parents, Queen Sansa of House Stark and King Aegon Targaryen, Sixth of his Name -once known as Jon Snow-. 

~ ‘Who manipulated whom?’ The memory of Daenerys’ honest question shook Sansa to the core as she remained to look at Jon with eyes wide, unable to say a word as the realisation washed over her. In a twisted way, she felt proud of him finally for listening to her, otherwise they’d have been under the Night King and all this wouldn’t matter. Both the Queen in the North and the Dragon Queen had their suspicions of what the Crow King was doing, yet both had been right, and both had been wrong.

Crows lie, the thought had her cry out in anger.

Day 30: Challenge

Day 30 of @oc-growth-and-development OCtober. Thanks to my wonderful wife, @nightsminx, for suggesting that I write about Aryana and writing the first half of the prompt!

Aryana stared deep into the roaring fire lapping against the mound of logs in the fireplace. The crackling flames dancing in her eyes was soothing to her ears, lulling her to sleep. But sleep wasn’t what she wanted. Sleep suffocated her, drove her into a place too deep inside of her, she wasn’t sure she was ever going to be able to climb out of it. One morning, she swore, she wasn’t going to wake up as a result of the demons strangling her in her sleep.

When it first happened, she thought she would be terrified of fire. She thought the choking smell and harrowing flames would make her run in fear. She was wrong. Instead, the flames comforted her, reminding her of the warmth and coziness of her home in Dorne, where she spent the whole of her life. These flames were her home away from home as she sought shelter in Jorlyn’s keep, one hundred leagues away from Winterfell. It wasn’t the safest place in the world given the Lannisters’ hatred of the Starks, but it was certainly safer than Dorne was. The Hardyngs were close allies of the Starks and Jorlyn met with the Queen on many occasions. So long as they remained on friendly terms, there was nothing for her to fear here.

Yet, there were fears that plagued her. Whenever she closed her eyes, she could hear her mother’s screams as they were dragged apart, as her mother was repeatedly stabbed to death. She could see her people running frantically, their screams ringing loud in her ears to the point she feared she’d go deaf. She could hear the bell ringing—clang! clang! clang! clang!—as it warned her people of the incoming dangers. She could hear the women and children shuffling into the dungeons, getting below ground to stay safe from the danger, the children screaming and crying as their parents dragged them along. What had become of those who couldn’t be rescued? Whose bodies they couldn’t load? Would they haunt the grounds of Yronwood for eternity? Would Valar’s beasts chew on their remains? Would they just toss them aside and let them rot away, to be eaten by nature?

She could barely stand the thought of the latter. It was the fear that plagued her the most. The thought of her people, the ones who had pledged their lives to her and her cause, lying out in the court yards, or staked to the ground as reminders of what Valar could do if their commands were not heeded. She could picture the faces clearly being eaten away by bacteria and gizzards. 

She owed it to those strewn away bodies to fight and take back Yronwood, but she no longer had what it took to do so. Maybe it was time to get over Yronwood and march on to something bigger and better. Something that would put Valar in their place. 

She didn’t realize she was pacing the floor until she bumped right into Jorlyn, their bodies crashing together like lightning into a tree. “I’m sorry,” they apologized simultaneously. 

Aryana smiled and shook her head. “Let’s forget Yronwood…” she pleaded.

“Not this again!” Jorlyn yelled. “I thought you were over your stupid little pride. Your people—”

Aryana put a hand over the Northern woman’s mouth. “Will you shut up and let me finish!...Maybe it’s time we think about something bigger and better then Yronwood. Something that will give us more power and higher ground.”

“What? Are you suggesting we take Sandspear?” Jorlyn inquired with a chuckle.

Aryana gazed into the Northern woman’s eyes, her own stare as hard as steel. Jorlyn may have been half joking, but Aryana was deadly serious and she wanted the other woman to know. Aryana watched as Jorlyn’s brows knitted together as the other woman realized just how serious she was. “That is exactly what I’m suggesting.” Aryana replied.

Jorlyn frowned in response, “We don’t have the troops needed for a battle that size.”

Aryana clenched the Northern woman’s collar, “You were the one looking into plans to sneak into Yornwood. We can do the same thing here. We get in, kill their leaders, and take over.”

Jorlyn gazed deep into her eyes, and Aryana felt like the other woman was searching for something. Apparently the Northern woman couldn’t find anything and asked, “Where is this coming from, Aryana?”

Aryana turned away from Jorlyn and gazed into the fire once more. She took several moments to collect her thoughts, “I need to do this, Jorlyn.” Her voice was barely a whisper, yet it seemed to echo throughout the empty room. She wrapped her arms around her waist and hugged herself tightly, “If I ever hope to put the past behind me … I …” Aryana felt her voice break and the tears fall from her eyes. “Please, Jorlyn, help me.” Aryana begged.

Aryana felt the Northern woman wrap her arms around her and pulled her tightly against her. “I promise, Aryana,” the Northern woman whispered in her ear, “We’ll face this challenge together.”

Confederate

Some new tv show the Game of Thrones people are apparently doing. About an alternate history where the South won the Civil War and slavery is legal and junk and stuff. Apparently it will depict the lead-up to another Civil War.

Lots of people aren’t too keen on this series because...reasons. Probably something to do with racism. I don’t know I wasn’t really paying attention. Twitter was involved so I sort of tuned out.

Doesn’t sound very interesting anyway.  If you want to do an alternate history drama, how about one where I am the unanimously elected god emperor of the world (as I rightly should be, but tragically am not, and yes this was the reason I made this post).

I never watched Game of Thrones either. Maybe if Tony Stark were the main character instead of...I wanna say Nathan? No, that’s Eureka...I don’t actually know any of the Starks from Game of Thrones. Aryana? Is that one of them?

Anyway, if Tony Stark were the main character I might take a gander, but as it is, I don’t really care all that much about it. Winter is coming is a pretty cool line though (pun not intended but totally welcome).

The information was delivered to the press this morning by accessor of the deceased, Mr. Lyonel Strong. As the funeral arrangements carry on and the rest of the family is rumored to be on their way to King's Landing.
