I've been thinking about Blackwall lately (definitely not because he was robbed in that poll, not at all), so I decided to dig up my QunQuisitor Asala and do a quick update of her design as it's been at least 7-8 years since I last doodled her.

Something that always rankled me in her playthrough is the kiss scene with Blackwall, they seem to shrink her down and have her clip through the floor so Blackwall can be taller which is INSANE to me.

Scuse my scrunkly old sketches from 2015, but when standing about, Blackwall barely clears her shoulder level. I had to make it make sense.

Ive realised something. All of my oc’s fall into 3 categories

dismantled and conscripted the templars because i didn't even know you could do that. imagine my delight upon realizing that my "why the hell not" decision to choose champions of the just could mean abolishing the police. direct action

did i tell blackwall he belongs at my feet again? yeah. but that wasn't nahari being feral that was me.

nahari lavellan also has no patience. none. fuck these guys for sticking me in situations and getting mad when i don't do what they want. i didn't ask for this

except for cole. she's a dual dagger rogue and would happily unleash spinning blades on anyone that looks at cole the wrong way.

HI AGAIN !! I was the one asking about dragon age character submissions yesterday and after your response here and on twitter (which was so nice omg thank you) I thought I'd share the light of my life Asala Adaar with you a bit more :') I know we are trying to keep inquisitors to a minimum but IN MY DEFENSE i havent had time to play the other two games yet ehhee but once I do I'm sure I'll get attached to the characters there as well

Taken from the Qun by two now-Tal Vashoth caretakers/trainers after they realized she was a mage, Asala was trained by her new father until she found out he was secretly planning to send her back to the Qun, seeing as she had a LOT of magical potential to become a Saarebas for their military. She ended up in a battle against her father and won, being forced to run as far as she could and eventually growing to work in a (and eventually start her own) mercenary group up until the death of the Divine.

She ends up growing closest to Cole, she's entertained by him and they both learn a lot from each other. Her learning to not judge people at face value through him, and him learning to look at all the possible ways he could help someone besides what his first instinct would be :] She also leans on The Iron Bull and Varric, the three sharing drinks and stories, and eventually hardships with each other, and becoming good friends over time :]

I have so much written all over the place for her and I hope I haven't taken too much space here orz thank you for the opportunity to share her !!

OH I LOVE HER, I LOVEEEE, omg the betrayal of her father, her magic, this is the kind of backstory I live for! AND THE ARTTT *SWOONS*

More big qunari lasses PLS!!! I am so soft for her and my heart melts that she's so close with Cole!! Combined with Bull and Varric, I am adoring the dynamic imagery here. I would love to read a fic about her, so if you have one or plan on writing one, you have a reader waiting right here!

Romanced Zevran, is an absolute bi disaster. Champion of Kirkwall: Juliet Hawke, Rogue. Romanced Fenris, Emotional Disaster. The Inquisitor: Asala Adaar, Tal Vashoth Mage. Romanced Iron Bull. An absolute sweetheart.

Anaan-asala Adaar is a warrior ex-commander who got fed up with the Qun in his youth and subsequently defected with the remainder of his unit during a mission outside Par Vollen. He's 52 y/o at the start of Inquisition :^)

Like many Tal-Vashoth, he did end up moving to mercenary work, but mostly because he knew fighting was something he liked and was good at and saw no reason to why he shouldn't capitalize on it. A few members of his former unit still worked under him until the Conclave.

Time has left him with a bitterness for the Qun and those who still live under it, causing him to clash with Bull a lot once they meet in-game. He's straight-forward in his words and clear with his opinions. His age and steadfast, protective nature in the Inquisition soon uplift him into a reliable but casual consultant-like role. Eventually, many -- including both inside the inner circle as well as people under the Inquisition's wing -- come to see him in a more fatherly* way. Intimidating at first, but cordial and well spoken once you exchange words with him. A firm but kind man who means well.

He's a man with few hobbies; he likes people watching, enjoys a good conversation, or a nap in the evening sun.

He ends up romancing Blackwall :^)
