Still looking to get through the 1970s with judicious sampling of giant robot anime, I turned to a title I can’t say I’ve noticed getting prominent emphasis (and if this only reveals I don’t look in the right directions to claim any genuine awareness of 1970s anime, I’ll accept the correction) but was “fansubbed” all the same. Just over a week after sampling Attack No. 1 (which shouldn’t distract from how the viewing audience of the time would have been well turned over after eight years), I tried out another girls’ volleyball series with a title translated as Attack on Tomorrow...

If you search for images of the face, you'll see it's often a frightening look. I believe Sero here is referring to the face Shouto makes at him in their sports festival battle in chapter 34, so I believe this description is meant to refer to how Shouto was overwhelmed with anger and mentally somewhat removed from the fight itself.)

Attack on Tomorrow is being SUBBED!

This is a girls’ volleyball anime from the 1970′s, which some Europeans will remember as “Smash” or “Mimi e le ragazze della pallavolo”.

I’ve watched the first episode, and I LOVED it. It’s very dramatic right from the start, and it’s gripping, a story easy to become invested in. The characters seem wonderful already, and--this is especially exciting to me--they have diverse body types!! Look!

There is a fat girl on the team, in the main cast. That is so uncommon in anime, let alone sports anime. Fingers crossed that the fat character won’t be treated terribly like in Attacker You. (There is one other shoujo sports anime I know of with a fat girl in the main cast, Princess Nine, and it did treat her respectfully. But it’s super exciting to find another one).

Despite the similarity in title, this series is NOT connected to Attack No. 1. However, stylistically, it seems very similar. I definitely recommend it to Attack No. 1 fans.

Giờ đây, Shouyou và Kageyama cùng tạo nên tổ hợp bất khả chiến bại, làm nên kỳ tích không thể ngờ đến cho đội tuyển.

Harukana Receive

Ashita e Attack

Bộ anime bóng chuyền tiếp theo nằm trong danh sách này chính là Ashita e Attack. Có thể nói đây là một trong những anime chơi bóng chuyền lâu đời nhất tính đến hiện tại. Mặc dù phần hình ảnh của bộ phim này không quá nổi bật nhưng bù lại cốt truyện của phim lại mạch lạc và rõ ràng, truyền tải năng lượng thể thao rất tích cực.

Attacker You!

Giống như Ashita e Attack, anime Attacker You! cũng là một “báu vật” khá cổ thuộc thể loại anime bóng chuyền. Được ra mắt từ năm 1984 nên bộ phim này không được đánh giá cao ở phần hình ảnh. Điểm cộng là nội dung được đánh giá tốt cũng như đáp ứng được nhu cầu giải trí cho khán giả.

Attacker You! xoay quanh câu chuyện về You Hazuki, một nữ sinh 13 tuổi yêu thích bóng chuyền đang sống với bố và em trai ở Tokyo. Mẹ của Hazuki ra đi khi cô còn nhỏ, cha thì bận bịu làm phim và chỉ vừa mới về nước dạo gần đây. Hazuki không ngừng luyện tập để có thể thực hiện ước mơ trở thành tay đánh bóng giỏi nhất của đất nước.

Shoujo Fight: Norainu-tachi no Odekake

Esta temporada de anime y lo que dejó el año que pasó

Al parecer ya estrenaron todos los anime de esta temporada Invierno 2019, y a primera vista ya hay 2 anime que son mejores que todos la gran mayoría del año pasado, Boogiepop wa Warawanai y Yakusoku no Neverland.

El primero es un tanto complejo, ya que por ahora está contando la historia desde distintos puntos de vista según el protagonista que corresponda, recién al final del cap. 3 las historias se conectan y se obtiene una idea general de los acontecido durante esos 3 episodios; Hay que están muy atento al ver cada capítulo ya que la historia original proviene de una novela por lo que se espera gran detalle de la trama y el desarrollo de esta.

El segundo es un thriller, ciencia ficción que solo con un capítulo emitido hasta ahora ya me genera bastante expectativa. Este primer episodio fue muy sólido, mostrándonos el mundo en el que vivían los protagonistas y rematando con la terrible realidad que van a tener que enfrentar de ahora en adelante.

La segunda parte de este post va dirigido al año que recién pasó, va a ser una simple lista de lo que creo fue lo mejor del anime en 2018 y una pequeña frase explicando el por qué. Aquí va:

Violet Evergarden: Lo mejor que puede entregar la industria del anime en materia de arte y animación en la actualidad. Un tanto episódico, pero muy emotivo.

Sora yori mo Tooi Basho: Originalidad en la historia, que por cierto es necesaria si se quiere destacar con 4 chicas de preparatoria como protagonistas. Buen desarrollo con cada uno de los personajes.

Yuru Camp△: Ídem. No tanto desarrollo de personajes, pero su carisma compensa.

Hinamatsuri: Gran comedia, y con buena trama.

Attack on Titan S3: Manteniendo el estándar que se le conoce, más concentrado en la trama que en temporadas anteriores.

Asobi Asobase: La mejor comedia del año, más esa pizca de locura lograron el objetivo.

Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai: De alguna manera logró comprimir todas las historias de las protagonistas de manera que fuera entendible, Sakuta mejor protagonista masculino del año.

Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru: Cada personaje con sus cualidades y deficiencias luchan por alcanzar un objetivo casi imposible. Lo importante acá es el recorrido y no la meta.

Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken: Los isekai deberían tener siempre por lo menos 24 episodios, TenSura se beneficia mucho de esto ya que el mundo en el que se desarrolla es muy grande e incluye interacciones de diferentes razas de criaturas. El protagonista no cae mal.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Golden Wind: Jojo es Jojo, entretención asegurada. Nada más que decir.

Mencion honrosa: Koi wa Ameagari no You ni, Boku no Hero S3, Amanchu! Advance, Lostorage Conflated WIXOSS, Sirius the Jaeger, Planet With, Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara, Zombieland Saga.

Para cerrar, siento que 2018 no fue tan Bueno como 2017, pero tuvo sus joyitas para mostrar, aunque haber visto pocos anime de Netflix (en especial Devilman: Crybaby) no me ayuda mucho tampoco.

Rhythm Game Song of the Week - 下村陽子 (Yoko Shimomura) - Majestic Fire

Welcome, fighters, to another Rhythm Game Song of the Week. This week, attack this song if you dare, and it will crush you.

This song was composed by Yoko Shimomura. If one didn’t know her name, they certainly knew her music. Almost a decade and a half before pop’n music 13, she composed the music for Street Fighter II. This song came from the same mind that gave us the song that went to everything.

Of course, Konami was not ignorant of that fact. The song’s character, En Moeyo, is essentially Ryu in all but name. He has a rising uppercut in his Great animation, and a fireball in his Fever animation. His background is a clear reference to Ken’s stage, and the song bares a strong resemblance to Ken’s theme. This is most likely not a coincidence; Shimomura said that this was a “self-parody“ of her work.

Shimomura would do one other song for pop’n, called  明日への誓い (Ashita e no chikai). She would also do the theme song for a Konami mobile game named CHRONOS RING, which was crossed over into jubeat plus and REFLEC BEAT plus.

Useless, but related, factoid: pop’n 1′s Mary, Judy, and The King’s dislikes are taken straight from the bios of Ryu, Ken, and Guile. Mary hates spiders much like Ryu, Mary’s headswap Judy hates umeboshi much like Ryu’s headswap Ken, and The King hates natto, which Mary made him try, much like how Guile hates natto, which Ryu made him try.

70's Shoujo sports anime time.

Ashita e Attack ... It's only 23eps cuz it wasn't super popular apparently. Might try and find Attack No. 1 (104 episodes) instead. Both are volleyball ones lol. I enjoy older anime usually, so we'll see how this goes.

Was gonna get shit done today but migraine. I can't wait til fall when I don't have them as much from weather...and it's not to hot for me to function comfortably... Can't complain about summer reading club and no weekends off this year at least 😅😅...

Therapy tomorrow, then I seriously need to go get groceries.
