inai boku wa hotarumachi ni iru - how the main character dealt with grief as a child reminded me a lot of my own childhood trying to navigate big feelings without the guidance of any adult around me (albeit, the main character in the story did have adults guide him towards the end)

i didn't really expect anything from ashizuri suizokukan when i read the plot summary but the meandering plot + almost-there-but-not-fully-there dystopic setting got to me ... especially with the beautiful sketches of the city ...
