A burden rests upon a soul wrought and weary, the weight of history bearing down. Endured in quiet agony, a profound legacy is left behind, and my hands are pried open to reclaim.

The significance of it all…

It is where webbed truths remain veiled in shadows, catching stray hopes, preying on promises.

And with the familial bond bared, I am an oversight, deemed over sight, haze so profound, so permanent.

This reality is rooted firmly in tragedy and all that it has toiled.

Thoughts dwell in the depths, where whispers long to linger, embracing my deepest fears with a tender touch that unveils vulnerability amidst villains.

Dark inheritance mars the days past and present, with future on the cusp;

I grapple with the foreshadowing, the black clouds, the miasma that threatens to engulf, encroaching.

But it is overcast; caught in limbo of what was, what is, what could be. Freedom eludes me. Liberation, lies. Escape, forbids.

These shadows entwine, tendrils delicately woven through my veins.

A stagnant inheritance of sorrow. Gold with the tarnish of ash. A kingdom’s throne of thorns.

Enveloped in contemplation, I delve to uncharted territories of my being.

These lungs crave a mere respite of radiance, capable of piercing the unwavering void.

And in isolation, a fragile flicker moves within, celebrating defiance of the oppressive darkness.

To escape this prison constructed by kin, to let my blood, to wash it clean, such filth in purity;

The irony is not lost on me. I beg, sanctuary. I remain, all-seeing.

I have seen… enough.

ooh ok so I remember you did a "what's in my tote bag" before with everything you carry for school, but what about a "what's in my bag" but when you're just out running errands or exploring with friends or something?

it’s… essentially the same bag contents 😭😭 just a teensy bit lighter. if i know im gonna be out walking for more than 4 hours ish, i’ll usually pare it down to lip products, hand sanitizer, sunnies, keys, and maybe the vita or 3ds in a smaller cross body bag

but this is the bag i took w me today to go to a new stationary store, chill for a bit in a tea house, and pick up some things at a the japanese grocers! it’s my emotional support tote, i can’t leave anything behind…

So there's lots of new tayley fanfics out there to read now which is awesome because they're really helping get through all this time without paramore but what are your top 5 of all time (is that a really evil question?) I would love to know what you find interesting as a writer yourself

It is a really evil question🙊, but just for the plot I'll do it, and I'll elaborate a bit since I have been asked this before just to make it more fun.

(Big disclaimer first: I've not read them all yet and i'm flattered that you'd ask my favs but by no means is anything other than just personal preference. I think that all the new fics I've read have been amazing and I'm so so happy we've gotten new writers ❤)

In no particular order

* How I met your mother by @ourlovesdelusions , the ending was everything and more. I'm a big fan of the original series but this was so much better for twisted minds like mine, so thanks for that.

* I'll take care of you by @thenewchicken , writing grief is so hard and this was a beautiful piece full of emotion, very touching.

* Good Grief by @dykelyah, I love anything about the FFV period and Chapter 5 really got me, the anxiety was so well written and realistic like Hayley screaming at Alf for no reason and then feeling Awful.

* No use I just love you by @sillygoose375 , the concept alone is my fav thing, cause nothing screams Tayley as much as saying I love you in a million different way without actually saying it? Love chapter 4 the color orange, makes me think of a quote I read some time ago.

* Tayley drables by @nosaviourofyours , is so hard to write and be concise, so to get your point across in a few words and still deliver the emotion, just bravo. I adore chapter 4, and is a theme I had been meaning to write so it was lovely to read someone's take on it.

Ah I’m sorry!! Everyone’s been asking since I made the post. I’ve only seen it in one or two fics, and one of them was a scoops ahoy pre to post season 3 fic. But I don’t remember the name of it.

If I do I’ll make a comment on the original post to share it though!! And in the mean time the post has been making the rounds (I’ve never had a post blow up like this!) so if anyone ends up writing something including this trope please send it or put it in the comments!! I’m sure you’ll have a bunch of people wanting to read it!!

For the soft-ish dialogue prompts. 31. “Anyone ever tell you you’ve got the prettiest eyes in the world?” for buddie

31. “Anyone ever tell you you’ve got the prettiest eyes in the world?”

Eddie takes another slow sip from his beer as a smile, soft and lazy curls in the corner of his mouth. He’s pleasantly buzzed, well on the way to being the right level of drunk where he can order junk food through Buck’s doordash app and only be slightly hungover in the morning. The bar is one of their favorites, a request from Ravi to celebrate his probationary completion. Eddie watches as Ravi shamelessly, tipsily, flirts with the cute bartender that’s been sneaking him free drinks all night in congratulations.

“Do you think Ravi noticed the bartender slipped him his number yet?” Buck asks as he pulls up next to Eddie, tipping a little sideways and unsteady, but smiling nonetheless. 

Eddie reaches out, gripping his shoulder until he’s righted himself. He’s still pressed into Eddie’s side, a blistering heat that makes something pool in Eddie’s gut. They watch Ravi clumsily grab the cocktail napkin they both know has a name and number scribbled on it, shoving it into the back pocket of his jeans unceremoniously.

“Definitely,” Eddie grins, turning slightly to look at Buck.

Buck looks, quite simply, beautiful in the dim lighting of the bar. His cheeks are a rosy pink, a side effect from losing spectacularly at pool with Hen, and his curls are a little loose around his ears where the gel has sweat out for the evening. He’s dressed in one of those burnt orange shirts that Eddie never knew could look so good on someone until he saw Buck wearing it and his lips are a little kiss swollen from where they had snuck off to make out by the bathrooms when no one was looking. Buck is already looking at Eddie, baby blues wide and a little glazed over from the alcohol.

“Anyone ever tell you you’ve got the prettiest eyes in the world?”

Eddie nearly shoots out beer through his nose as he laughs, tipping into Buck’s chest. Buck looks mildly offended that Eddie would laugh at such a thing, but his gaze is mostly warm and fond. 

“Yeah?” Eddie asks after he regains his composure. “I don’t think anyone ever has, actually.”

He’s always thought brown eyes were kind of dull. Nothing sharp or bright like Buck’s glacier lake eyes or Shannon’s stunningly blue-green ocean eyes. Something he could catch even from across the room, something he could sink down into and float away without the constant pressure of the outside world caving in on him.

“Well, they should.” Buck hums, slipping a hand around Eddie’s waist. “Because they are the prettiest. Like bark on pine trees or bottle honey in the sun.”

Eddie doesn’t blush. He doesn’t.

“Those big does eyes make me weak at the knees,” Buck continues, dramatically shaking his legs like he’s about to faint like a Victorian damsel.

“Sure,” Eddie laughs, cupping Buck’s face.

“Eddie,” Buck says, “would I ever lie?”

“Never.” Eddie leans in and kisses Buck softly.

“It’s my favorite color,” Buck murmurs against Eddie’s lips.

And Eddie can’t be blamed if he and Buck dip out a little early so he can press Buck into their bed and kiss him like there’s no tomorrow.

ALRIGHT here’s a few of my personal recommendations

Baldur’s Gate 3

Available On: PS5 and PC (you’ll need a fairly decent setup)

Game Type: Open World Fantasy Turn-Based CRPG

WHY IT’S GOOD: Honestly, this game blew me out of the fucking water. The amount of freedom they give you to do shenanigans is bonkers. I carried two barrels full of drunken lizard men halfway through the game and released them in a prison to create a distraction, and the game was just cool with me doing that! The characters are also just so beautifully written and so unique. There isn’t a single companion I don’t totally adore.

Fable 2 (and Fable 3)

Available on: any XB since the 360

Game Type: Semi-Open world fantasy RPG

WHY IT’S GOOD: These games are pretty dated, don’t get me wrong. Don’t go into these expecting mechanics as smooth as what you get nowadays, but these games have charm that is unparalleled. The storylines are funny, the characters are a delight, and beneath the veneer of irreverent humor is a deeply sincere and tragic story about loss.

Resident Evil Village

Available on: all modern consoles

Game Type: First Person Survival Horror

WHY IT’S GOOD: This rec may seem unlike the others purely because of the game type, but trust me, this game has some of the most superb character writing I’ve experienced. Yes, it’s survival horror and no you don’t get any choices, but if you want a game where you can sink so deep into the characters that you feel like you’re right there with them, play this game. I have played it like five times and I cry at the ending every time. Bonus: all of the environments are just visually stunning. I could stay in Castle Dimetrescu for hours staring at everything.

Wasteland 3

Available on: All modern consoles (except the Switch)

Game Type: Open World Post Apocalypse Turn Based CRPG

WHY IT’S GOOD: You’ve heard of Fallout, well meet the BETTER Fallout. Wasteland 3 is funny, tragic, challenging, and surprisingly full of heart for a lot of its more cynical gags. All of the characters you meet are wonderfully written. The world is interesting and unique, especially in a time where we’re kind of inundated with post-apocalypse games. There’s a man dressed like Dracula who runs a mafia-esque trading hub. Robot Ronald Regan leads a cult who controls all the oil in the state. A gang of homicidal clowns roams the countryside. It’s fucking awesome.

Outer Worlds

Available On: Any modern console

Game Type: Open World First Person Scifi RPG

WHY IT’S GOOD: Dear god this game is beautiful. There are so many games that are so dull and lifeless these days, but not this one! Every single environment is packed with color and unique flora and fauna. The aesthetics are based on 1920s Art Nouveau meets science fiction. The folks you gather to serve as your crew feel like family. And all of this is wrapped in a pretty funny criticism of modern capitalism.

It was always your patience for me.

Not your charm, though I suppose the two collaborate. You might have imagined your subtle dry remarks would be what caught my focus, your clever wit pulling grins. 

Or perhaps the wisdom you share when least expected, catching me unprepared, but always eager to listen.

No, instead it’s the time you spend simply waiting. 

For me to find a page in a textbook, sharing yours when I forget mine.  For me to finish breakfast when I’m teased for eating slowly.  For my tears to dry when I receive terrible news.

And I’ll keep with the theme of honest confessions. There are moments I steal a glance or two because your eyes, despite their drawn curtains, command a blend of awe and attention. 

I imagine someone gathered all the constellations they could carry and threw them to the wind,  landing in your irises,  caught in your lashes. 

Time is rendered priceless; easy to spend with you, and your sweetness lingers long after your presence, 

like fingers perfumed citrus after a clementine is peeled,  or heavy honey dredged up from the bottom of a tea gone cold.

But for all the kindness you offer, I notice now how empty the well you draw from becomes.

You hesitate to admit struggling, but I see the tells; bleary eyes framed by dark recesses, chapped lips bitten bloody,  chewed fingernails catching on your sleeves. 

The pain manifests in a controlled consumption from a voracious maw of your very blood.

All standards and expectations and daunts of Gaunts before you,  a decorum and propriety for archaic institutions, a plot you cease to play, and no love lost for those loved ones.

It seems this lifetime was never patient with you. And yet, you deserve all the patience of a lifetime.

This feeling, I confess, fascinates just as much as it terrifies; it’s no meager blossom in my chest but a tower collapsing in on itself, 

all massive  and loud  and chaotic. 

Still I hesitate, wary of the naivety in my chest and the musings of dreams, influential as they may be. 

So I send this, eager to know how your heart beats near me, wrapped in the taut cream and roses of your skin. 

And I wonder, quietly, innocently, if I may feel it.

I never thought I’d find myself content with waiting. So virtuous that patience is, after all.

a sweater and my current knitting project, notebooks and a kindle, glasses, electronics pouch, bandaids, an umbrella, my keys and subway card, the essentials pouch (contacts, hair paraphernalia, hand/nail care, sticky notes, zyrtec, pens, travel scissors etc.), hand sanitizer, perfume, lip products, airpods, tape measure, and my favorite coffee thermos
