What happened to the dragon?

Heavy Rain

Burning buildings, bloodcurdling screaming, countless panicked Ponies running around, looking for a sign their friends and family were alright amidst the devastation, everything he heard and saw that day was forever singed into his memory, along with an overwhelming sense of guilt over his actions.

By some miracle, whether by the grace of the Stars, or the Princesses themselves, though the Dragon they knew before as their friend had burnt every building in the city, there were only a hoofful of injured Ponies; but while many of these were but light burn wounds, this was not so for his friend.

No matter what all of his Firepony partners told him, how often they told him it was not his fault, promising him that it was alright, Aqua Jet could accept none of their comments; for if he had done something, anything instead of freezing in place, Stream would not have gotten hurt to protect him.

Wishing for one peaceful dream, praying to whomever would listen to end his nightmares, even asking the Princess of the Night for aid, nothing helped; and Aqua knew not whether he would find peace in his mind again, especially since he still felt the weight of Stream's unconscious body in his arms.

Even though the city was rebuilt, Stream and every single other Pony injured on that day were doing well and walking around again, and their Pony-turned-Dragon friend had returned, and had apologised for their uncontrolled actions, to his own dismay and to the others around him, Aqua was worsening.

Exactly a year to the day later, after Oil Smudge safely brought Aqua home, lest his lack of energy causes harm to himself or others, she sweetly asked him to rest, and promised that they would check up on him; but Aqua merely sighed deeply, wearing an exhausted expression, greatly worrying Smudge.

As Smudge drove back to the barracks, Aqua headed to sleep, knowing he would not find rest tonight, but he did not expect how severe his nightmares would be; he shot awake, screaming in the middle of the night, and crying uncontrollably, before he leapt out of bed and charged into the pouring rain.

He knew not for how long he ran through the dark, the cold, or the rain, but he cared not about how he felt, his dyed mane, or how soaked he was becoming; fighting his exhaustion, he sprinted through the city as quickly as he could, for he needed to see Stream, and know for certain she was alright.

When he turned the corner and saw the barracks in the distance, he quickened his pace even more and called out to Stream, shouting as loudly as he could through the downpour and the thunder; luckily, as if she knew beforehoof, Smudge was working on the truck in the garage, and heard Aqua's screams.

Immediately dropping her tools and sounding the horn on their truck, Smudge yelled as loudly as she could to the others, telling them to bring blankets, towels, and something warm to drink; galloping hooves echoed throughout the building when Aqua arrived, crying, and collapsed in Smudge's embrace.

Moments later, Stream and Hatchet charged in with what Smudge requested, finding Aqua crying in her embrace, before he stumbled over to Stream to embrace her; thanking the Heavens as he apologised to her repeatedly, his mind was only slightly eased as he held her tightly and felt her beating heart.

Stream merely pulled him closer, and, as she started crying in turn, she said:

"I forgive you."

(( Hello this is mod speaking! I’m sorry I haven’t touched the ask blog in a long time, so here’s 15 seconds of what was supposed to be the 3k follower special before I lost the energy.
