And if it's one of the handful of Time Lords, particularly the ones on any kind of council that have threatened or are in the process of trying to kill the Doctor, then it goes from what's wrong with her (she speaks Gallifreyan fluently, even if her tenses are a little bit flat and and her accent is weird but also she seems really jittery all the time and has little care for her own personal safety) to What Is WRONG with her (She told Commander Maxil looking at him wearing his face bothered her and she's willing to wait if he wants to take a gun and "go change" and offered to help.)

*more book spoilers* hi, it's the cufflinks anon again, thank you for your reply to my ask, I'm very excited for your post on the cufflinks, it's such a small yet heartbreaking detail. Another thing I noticed about the cufflinks scene in the epilogue is that Mary says Tim's sister found them on Tim's night-table when he passed, implying that his sister is the one who arranged for him to be buried in the cufflinks - I find this interesting in the context of the show, given that Tim's sister is shown to be disapproving and at times outright hostile (with good reason) towards Hawk, and again, I really hope we get to see the cufflinks come up again in the show. And re: the epilogue in general, I also find it interesting that Mary says Tim hadn't been involved in politics for 20 years and died of bone cancer, not AIDS (personally I wonder if this is a compassionate lie she's telling Hawk?). I like that the show took a different direction with 1980s Tim, I think it was absolutely the right decision, I just wonder what prompted the change. The epilogue also makes me think of Hawk as a rather unreliable narrator at times, especially with regards to his compartmentalization and repression of his feelings for Tim, while in the show we see Hawk have some very vulnerable moments in 1986 with Tim, which I love.

yes, in the book, tim's sister notices how much the cufflinks mean to him very early on. she doesn't piece together that it's hawk until way later, though, but she notices tim's feelings are strong. and, yes, the contrast between his sister in the book vs in the miniseries is drastic. i love the change, though. again, adds so much to the tension.

i had never thought that she may be covering up his actual manner of death!! in the prologue, hawk just straight up assumes that tim died of aids. i felt that having mary say he actually died of bone cancer was an awakening of some sort for hawk and his assumptions and judgments of people. i think that's a really interesting point, but mary as a character (in my opinion, lmk if you or anyone else feels differently) was someone who showed hawk little to no mercy. i don't think there was any point where she wasn't incredibly blunt to him and that's something he really admired about her. if anything, she was the one who was on his ass the most about how she was treating tim. i'll definitely keep that in mind, though!

hawk is absolutely an unreliable character. sometimes you're not sure who's speaking when it's in his perspective: his exterior or interior self. there's definitely small, softer moments he thinks about -- he has romantic moments, but they're very rare. seeing them on the show be much softer with each other, the intimacy is so much more alive and beautiful. in the book, it's just sad and hard to look at. being that hawk's intentions are always so secretive, you find yourself not wanting to dwell too much in the happiness because you know the next blow is gonna hit just as hard.

Doll is filled a sort of childish excitement whenever events like Christmas, Halloween, or their birthday crop up, so they would totally go all out. Exactly what they would dress as, idk, but it would be fun to see them as an angel? They’re already made of a pale white, porcelain-like material, so they’d probably look angelic in a well done costume

Vesta…probably wouldn’t dress up. She’d be that one woman who opens the door disheveled and partially drunk, drops a huge handful of candy in your bucket, then tells you to shoo. As you exit the house, you’d probably hear a strange, metallic thump and the sound of someone screaming.

Levine is too responsible for halloween with these people. 100% the chaperone. He’d get roped into wearing a vampire cloak over his everyday wear and that’s it. (people would compliment him on his makeup skills and nO he’s just that pale and depressed-looking irl - oh, those blood splatters? don’t get the wrong idea. he just left surgery.)

OK and the primary group from “into the night” would probably look like cool, fashionable adults from a distance, but it’s only because of Mr. “I-care-way-too-much-about-appearances-do-not-embarrass-me.” AKA Marion. Then you get close and they’re arguing over who got the most candy in the most pretentious way possible…

I’d dress Marion as a mad scientist to reference the original idea for his character. As a tall, graceful woman, Cinna would make a very attractive fairytale prince lmao. And Eule would probably just go along with whatever Marion puts him in - but I really like @bassguitarinablackt-shirt ’s idea of dressing him as Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle so let’s go with that

I like to imagine that the Ruby of the Sea, as a high profile influencer, is often collaborated with to wear the latest designs or fashions from the major fashion houses on the coast.

I also think Marion takes one look at Vandran and goes ‘oh no he’s exactly my type’ and thus Fjord and Jester accidentally parent trapped so hard that Marion gets not one but TWO ex-Revelry scoundrals who have faked their death and were mostly evil for most of their life and then met Fjord and/or Jester and changed their tune.

lately i’ve seen multiple posts telling people to just...suck it up essentially and use a dictionary to get through hard to understand readings if they’re trying to learn something? this isn’t “““calling out”“” anyone in particular because i’ve seen more than one post like this with many reblogs and likes and while i understand the sentiment, i just can’t agree with y’all 100%

there is a massive problem in academia and higher education with using terminology/jargon as a way of gatekeeping. to this day, i still have trouble reading some articles in my own field because authors, either because they want to or feel that they have to, fill their papers with unnecessary jargon. when i say authors feel that they have to use jargon when writing, sometimes writers feel that if they don’t write this way, they won’t be taken seriously by other academics.

so if we’re trying to democratize higher education and make it more accessible to everyone, including the working class and others who for whatever reason didn’t have a quality primary education, making the fundamental texts of a subject unintelligible is another roadblock to keep out anyone who isn’t white and wealthy. yes, the readings you do in college/university will be more difficult than in high school, but there’s no reason to make them so full of jargon to the point of unintelligibility - which i think is the important factor some of you are missing. there are texts that don’t just have “big words i’m not familiar with and am too lazy to look up” or whatever, there are 30 page texts you get assigned where every page is filled with jargon specific to a field you are learning about for the first time. it’s incredibly overwhelming!

What's Erased?

Short Answer: a phenomenal anime from 2017. One of those really good ones that are only twelve episodes long.

Long Answer: Anime about a man named Satoru's who has got an ability called Revival where his mind gets sent back in time in order to give him a chance to fix terrible events. (E.I. in the first episode, while he's delivering pizza, a young boy gets hit by a truck after the driver feel asleep at the wheel. His mind gets sent back just long enough that he can drive his pizza delivery scooter close enough to the truck to wake him up)

Basically, the plot of the show is that 18 years before when Satoru was a kid, a series of child murders occurred in their small town. The murderer was caught but there's reason to believe that he wasn't the REAL killer.

After Satoru's ability allows him to prevent a child from getting kidnapped his mom connects the dots and figures out who the killer was and because of that, the killer from 18 year ago kills her. So Satoru's ability sends his mind back in time to when he was eleven before the murders happened when he was a kid because the only way to keep his mom safe is to figure out who the original killer was all those years ago.

I cannot say anything more about the show without ruining it.

This is the OP you should watch it. And also the whole anime it's really good. There's a live action netflix adaptation that's like, FINE, but the anime is better.

It was Valentine's Day, a time of year when everyone in the world celebrated love, especially those with significant others, but it didn't mean Valentine's Day was just for couples, there were probably several others out there who might not have someone for this day, and instead, choose to spend it with a dear friend and there was absolutely nothing wrong with that, Minato had done that before in the past, and he found that even spending time with a close friend rather than just a significant other, was still an effective way to kill the loneliness, at least a little bit -- and in some cases, that was all someone needed, of course, everyone else was different, but still similar in some kind of way.

Luckily for Minato, he had Fuuka Yamagishi, his High School Sweetheart whom he had managed to rekindle their relationship a few years ago now, and ever since they had been together again, things were far better than before, in fact, their relationship felt like it had gotten extremely strong ever since their reunion, he could still remember how nervous he was when he made his approach to apologize to her for choosing his career over them back then, and now, the two were practically inseparable, with a bond that easily surpassed the strength of their previous relationship. Minato and Fuuka had never been better.

Unfortunately, Fuuka received a phone call from Mitsuru about three days ago asking if she would be able to travel to Shadow Operative headquarters to do some repairs on Aigis and her sister, Labryis. after a battle with some leftover shadows that had been found, thankfully, the damage wasn't serious, but since none of the robotic experts were present, Mitsuru needed Fuuka to also add some upgrades as well to both of them as well as their general systems check to ensure the two iron maidens were still in tip-top condition.

Sadly, that meant Fuuka wouldn't be here for Valentine's Day, and wouldn't be back until the day after, to make up for it, she had promised to send him some fine chocolate, and Fuuka did not fault to deliver as promised, and the day Valentines arrived, A large box of chocolates had been delivered to him, the card that came with it had Fuuka's signature on it, with writing beside her name, it read:

I'm sorry I couldn't be here for Valentine's Day. Once I'm back, we can have our own little Valentine's day together ~ for now, enjoy these chocolates, as I promised. I'll see you tomorrow, Love, Fuuka.

With a smile on his face, he eagerly signed the confirmation of the delivery and took the box from the driver, and thanked him before quickly shutting the door and retreating to his couch, opening the box the moment he sits on his couch and taking out the chocolates, and just like he thought, the chocolate squares had blueberry filling in them, making every bite very delicious, blueberry and chocolate was such a good combo, and this chocolate proved it.

Sat comfortably in his seat, Minato flipped on the television and watched a horror movie that was on tv, an ironic one too as the movie, was the horror film: My Bloody Valentine. As he enjoyed snacking on the many boxes of chocolate his lovely girlfriend had sent him, Minato was so fixated on the movie, that he didn't notice Marion quietly join him on the couch, sitting on the opposite side near the other arm as Minato was near the arm on his side. The moment when a violent killing scene began, Minato paid full attention, and Marion seemed to use this to her advantage and swiped a square of chocolate while he wasn't looking.

Funny enough, it had been the very piece he was about to grab, so when his fingers touched the plastic tray rather than a piece of chocolate, Minato knew right away what happened at that moment, though he was already too late, as she has most likely eaten the piece by now.

Grey eyes shifted to the right of him, and it was there when he finally noticed Marion sitting beside him on the other side of the couch. From there it didn't take long to put two and two together. When it finally hit him, grey eyes narrowed a little, giving her a look for a few minutes in silence before finally saying something.
