i dont know if you answered this before, but do you have a specific time that marion got pulled from earth? like, what was the last episode of doctor who marion watched, and if you'll ever do stories that came after that, will marion get to experience them for the first time?

While I’ve said how old she is (23) in the bio I put on fanfiction.net for her a while back, I marked her year of birth as being September 17th, 20XX, and said that her time of origin was “the earlier half of the 21st century”. Considering I mention it’s winter in the first chapter, and she’s American the earliest she could’ve been taken from is 2024. But that’s just the earliest and the specific year was taken from has been left vague on purpose to give me a bit of wiggle room. 

I’ve tried to keep Marion from saying anything that would could contradict knowledge that she would presumably have (still so mad that Roberston came back in Revolution of the Daleks but i can be normal about it :)) and so far, I haven’t been burned yet. 

But yeah this is why even if we were back in early covid times when I used to do Weekly Updates (can you fucking imagine) I probably wouldn’t be doing anything involving Fifteen and Ruby just because we all joke about the whole “x is secretly Susan or the Rani or Romana“ but I don’t know if there’s a twist coming up i”m not prepared for.

Maybe if the fic goes on for long enough I might just say “ok Marion hasn’t seen this one and doesn’t know what’s going on“ and I might consider doing that anyway for episodes I only just barely remember. But for right now, I think the most likely candidates for “Adventures Marion Goes On And Doesn’t Know What’s Going On“ would probably either be an EU thing (like if I do another comic), or a Death Was A Temporary Inconvenience plotbunny that gets fed enough to turn into something bigger.

I know that it’s said in the couples fluff post that Virgil will go see all of Roman’s performances with the use of his powers and that in one of the chapters Elizabeth says she’s never missed one of Roman’s performances

I just think them sitting together and watching Roman perform is such a cute little family fluff moment and I need to know if they would ever do this. 😭😭

They've probably been in the same crowd and not known it at one point before they met. I just like the idea of Roman always having someone in the crowd for him. Maybe Patton goes and sees a show. Maybe Romans sister. But Virgil and Elizabeth are always there for him.

Fic question! What do other timelords outside of like The Doctor and Romana think about Marion? Are they like “wow this girl really can speak good gallifreyan also what’s wrong with her??”

Correct.

And if it's one of the handful of Time Lords, particularly the ones on any kind of council that have threatened or are in the process of trying to kill the Doctor, then it goes from what's wrong with her (she speaks Gallifreyan fluently, even if her tenses are a little bit flat and and her accent is weird but also she seems really jittery all the time and has little care for her own personal safety) to What Is WRONG with her (She told Commander Maxil looking at him wearing his face bothered her and she's willing to wait if he wants to take a gun and "go change" and offered to help.)

hi!! I appreciate all the work that you've done, writing ALiP. I was doing a rewatch of the series, and I was wondering, are you and Robin planning on continuing the series?

It's a great series and I was actually gonna start the fic but I wanted to wait and see if the series was going to be continued so I don't spoil myself.

So the animatic was 100% always just robin. I just wrote the thing. We haven't talked in years now and I believe they have since moved on. I wouldn't expect a new episode sadly. But I'm eternally grateful for what they've done and wish them all the best.

how would marion and the toymaker interact? just watched the final and god the brainrot has me sobbing

So before I begin I'm going to say "this is brainrot that's been in my head since 2020 mixing with new 2023 brainrot that may not be the same as whatever brainrot infects me when I finally write it."

He calls her "the Marionette". Or "Marionette". Not like, in an affectionate way obviously. You but you know, like a puppet. Because her name is "Marion"

He will occasionally manifest a string on one of her arms to yank her around until she rips it out herself as part of the Marionette thing. It hurts to rip the strings out. Marion does it anyway.

He implies that if she gets stuck in his realm he'll kill her over and over again or as he words it "Oh it's nothing you aren't used to! I'll break you apart, and wait for you to put yourself back together again".

Adding to the last point, this makes the Toymaker one of few beings the Doctor (we're talking about Fourteen) won't let Marion do the "I'm pointedly standing in front of you thing" and encourages/demands that Marion "please get back". (Ties into a thing I mentioned when someone asked me to elaborate on scene and I picked the one where Five gets scad (scared and mad) but basically the older the Doctor gets the more their thoughts on Marion more or less go from One of my companions > My Friend > My longest companion > My Bestfriend > One of few constant presences in my life outside of death and the TARDIS > Someone who I Can Not lose). He can't lose Marion and certainly not like this. He's hanging on by a thread and that would snap it.

I had an idea when I was reading the Toymaker novel that instead of what was iirc, shutes and ladders he traps them in a D&D game since "three's enough for a party, isn't it?" Dunno if I'll continue with that one.

She’s just got a baseline level of severe dread (the external kind) and vertigo the entire time she (or more specifically the Doctor) is around him. Which would suck even without the constant moving and spinning she suspects is intentional.

In the Toymaker serials, the longer One's invisible and Intangible the worse Marion feels. By the end, she keeps absentmindedly hitting her chest trying to alleviate pressure. Steven asks if she's okay Marion just kind of goes 🙃👎.

When One goes invisible and intangible, Marion uses one of her very few verbal "OH FUCKS"

Spice Girls dance scene Marion gets thrown into a wall with enough force that there's a her shaped dent or otherwise she just straight up crashes through the wall (also leaving a her shaped hole)

In general, the Toymakers antics don't particularly frighten Marion, what Frightens her is the fact that he hurts people she cares about, and she doesn't think that she could get far physically attacking him.

The guy himself does creep her out.

She muses that he could probably get people to play with him willingly if he promised to let them leave no matter what after like 2 hours but she doesn't voice this.
